[OFFICAL] Work out how to enable fastboot for locked devices / Problem solved :D

So as you may already be aware phones like mine, (orange uk) have the fastboot locked down, and so we cant unlock the bootloader.
I for one believe it can be accessed but needs a little bit of time and research on getting it done.
This thread is aimed for brain-storming for ideas and collecting them for us to try out,

If your getting "could not extract assets" from gingerbreak

Instructions
TESTPOINT INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY mooxie FROM XDA FORUM:
1 turn of the phone
2 take of the backcover
3 remove the battery and sim card
4 take of the plastic covering the test point it's a bit stuck there but the gentle if you can.
5 Find something flexible like a wire or so i used steel wire. Make bend it so you easily can put it on the test point and the ground since you need to hold it there and press the powerbutton in the next step.
6 put in the battery
7 put the wire on the test point and the ground keep it there and press the power button for a few seconds. You wont get any confirmation that it suceeded.
8 Plug in the usb cable in the phone. Windows will now search for a new driver.
If it doesn't install automaticly. Go into the device manager of windows and look up something called SEMC_HUBB think it was that name. Choose update driver and browse to your omnius\driver folder. You will get a warning that the driver isn't signed but press okay and it should install.
9 Now if everything is done right the flashing will start and you should soon have an unlocked phone
Also side note i had problems with
qhsusb_dload driver not installing correctly.
if this is your case right click update and point to the omnius folder and choose update. worked for me.

Well if we can get into fastboot we can unlock the kernal, for the people stuck with not being able to do the normal way

Reboots back up as normal, also did adb devices and it was there,

No not sure how to do it for free, i think someone with a Japaneses version has removed it, i will PM him to ask him

Here's a thought: backup TA. Write random values to security area. If fastboot is disabled/enabled depending on TA simlock info, tampered sec. zone could give you fastboot. Then unlock bootloader and in order to get your phone back to life, restore TA.
Method should be 100% safe as long as you can write TA back.

But what about flash mode and fastboot? I know they won't boot but that's why in the end TA is restored.

so now all you crazy kids with unlocked phones have root I dont suppose anyone has any more ideas about this problem do they?

I have a few more ieas;
1) I presume you have also tried
adb reboot bootloader
I haven't got my arc yet, Im just saying old ways of getting DHD into bootloader/fastboot

Also, what i think was being mentioned above, Im not too sure what was being said, but on advent vega's and optimus 2x's if you wiped the boot partition, it rebooted into fastboot, because there was no OS installed.
3)
Another one to try is look for market apps that offer reboot into recovery type options and see if they work

have you tried booting your device using the S1 BOOTLOADER method and the S1 DOWNLOAD method? (power off, hold menu + plug battery, then plug cable in pc) you should see a blue LED light. (power off, hold back key + plug battery, then plug cable in pc) you should see a green LED light.
try these two methods and give us a feedback

manage to get Green light to come up, and it installs drivers
SEMC Flash Devices installs as the drivers,
After the installation of the new drivers still no blue light
adb reboot bootloader just reboots as normal

Hi !
For me, first method makes my phone booting normaly (no led light).
With the second one, it's OK : green led light appears.
If i can help...
PS : my PC doesn't want to install drivers :-(

so that means SEMC Flash is available. Try using Flashtool and flash a UK/Global firmware, and see if it works =)

Download SEUS. PC Companion doesn't install the right drivers.

Still locked,

I guess the lock is actually in the bootloader level, which can't be overridden by writing a ftf package.

[Solved] Help!! Xperia Z bricked after trying to unlock bootloader

[solved] Sorry for my English first, I have been reading thousand thread but with no luck.
My xperia Z is
- locked bootloader
- no root
- didn't install driver properly (I guess)
I was trying to unlock bootloader, but the driver wasn't installed properly somehow as using flashtool even I followed step by step to install. Then, it got stuck for an hour at "Device connected in flash mode". I had to reset the device (power with - volume) with no choice. Now I keep rebooting at the colorful wave after Song logo.
I know flashtool is the only choice for me now, but i can't go in fastboot mode(- volume then plug in usb) because of the bad ADB driver probably. LED is no light (no blue, red, green) at all.
Also, ADB driver that i need to install now, but boot loop on my device is so swift that ADB driver doesn't have enough time to install to my device.
I am stuck at this stage for a few days. Any idea what I should do now???
PS: using latest flashtool

Since you have a locked BL, Flashtool isn't your only solution...
Install the correct drivers if you haven't already, after that use Sony's updating service to restore your phone.

I just tried sony's updaing service in which fastboot mode was needed.
Since i install the bad ADB driver, how can i install the driver at this stage? should I install from flashtool?
I did uninstalled the driver and install back again from flashtool. Fastboot mode doesn't seem to response at all means. I actually followed the step by step guide from flashtool thread, but i don't think i install the driver properly somehow.

Flash mode is volume down + connect the usb.

sorry i wrote it wrong, i did volume - then plug usb

Volume up + power for 15 seconds to shutdown your phone(3 vibrations).
Repair with Sony update service and don't forget volume down.
Or try another pc.

thanks for your reply again. Since i don't have another pc, any other means that I can get to the fastboot mode? (I can't install driver to my device properly because of bootloop perhaps)

Uhm, the drivers are installed on your PC, it should work on your phone no matter what.
Of course, you need to have installed the correct drivers and in the correct way. Try to reinstall the drivers (Sony Updating service will give you a link if I'm correct, use that one).
After that use another usb port and try it again.

prove me wrong if i say thing wrong. the ADB driver are installed on PC only and will not install on device? if so, no matter what my device status is, it should be able to connect to fastboot mode as long as it has enough battery?
Also, i just checked Sony Updating service that doesn't provide the driver and function like fasttool. Could you kindly send me the link of this driver so as to not screwing this up again?

You don't need fastboot drivers to use sony update service.
Anyway sus should install the drivers for you when you connect the phone by holding volume down.
You should download sus software not using the web update.
When you connect the phone go to device manager on your pc and check if all the drivers are ok and no yellow signs.

Thanks for your support. I used SUS to install the rom again, but somehow takes - volume + power instead of - volume +plug in usb in fastboot mode. Now, it is back to factory stock rom.

ive installed update soft. i turn down the volume button and connect the usb then blue light works. upadte soft got my phone. but when conneting it says i cannot update this softwere cause am cotaining modified firmwere.
Now any one can solve this issue!!???
or any other way to to turn on my phone!!??

did you root or unlock bootloader? if so, SUS is not the procedure that you are looking for.

SUS doesn't work on unlocked bootloader.

I am in an awkward situation.
xperia z, 4.2.2 244 rooted stock rom, bootloader locked, usb debug mode off, recovery not installed.
I accidentally corrupted build.prop and the phone bricked.
I cannot use flashtool to flash the stock rom back because usb debug mode is off.
I cannot use Sony update service Pro to force update because it said that "your phone already has the latest available software installed".
I cannot use PC Companion to repair because the software said that "Sony update engine doesn't have software available for your phone".
Please help.

Use PC companion but try use repair phone not update. Wait till all phone model showing up than choose your model phone. btw, your phone must off.
than follow instruction there... wil take 1～2 hour for repair.
Hope you can solve your problem. ill take screen shoot when im home later than post here..

You can use Flashtool to flash stock rom, doesn't matter if usb debug mode is on or off (only needed to install recovery or to root)
Download stock rom, install flashtool + drivers and follow screen instructions.. Good Luck! :good:

J have the same problem, yesterday j installed cyanogenmod, now xperia Z was on SONY logo and j can't flash original firmware on flashtool, j can only flash original kernel, but is still on sony logo
SUS says that hasn't new firmware for my phone.
What can j do ????

yes, you are right. Yesterday I check everything on the right panel and it does not work. Today I leave all option unchecked and flash properly. Many thanks anyway.

Just follow the flashtool instruction and re-flash the stock rom first, everything will return to unroot stated. Reroot then and try again.

Maybe j have other kind of problem, j tried with flashtool but it doesn't start flashing when in flashmode, after a minute phone boots itself continuosly on sony logo.
j tried several times with different PC and different ftf file.
j hope to solve this problem, but how...

Try this way bro.. Done in many Xperia here..
Solving Bootloop phone/Flash Tool can't Detect your phone.
Your Phone Must Off!! and not connected !!
1. Open Pc Companion
2. Click update on Red ellipse (in Picture 1)
3. Start on Phone/tablet Update (in Picture 2)
4. Click Repair on Next Screen
5. in Next Screen, Read that warning Click Continue if you OK
6. Next Step click on Red Circle than Next...
7. Wait initializing Software (10~30 mnt) or depend your ISP speed
8. After initializin9 All Xperia Phone List Will Show Up.
Choose What Xperia Phone Will you repair ( I choose XZ) than Next..
9. Follow instruction On picture.
( Connect USB on your Phone while Press Vol down )
10. if not Start.. Unplug usb and try plug again ==> same no 9)
11. After start.. Waiting 1~2 Hours till done.
(Read Warning There )

Solved...j know that phones must be off, the problem was flashtool, j used other version (beta 4) on other pc running xp instead of win7 and all goes good.

The above didn't work for me because I received error based on my type of phone.

I had to reboot windows to a settings to enable unsigned drivers. Installed Flashtool and it's drivers,
First unlocked the bootloader(BLU button, got the IMEI, used the sony form (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions))
Then I downloaded the stock sony xperia z ftf image, placed it in Flashtool's firmware folder, then flashed it (flash device > flash mode).
Now my phone's working again.

If you still can enter custom recovery, you only need flash rom and (with) suitable kernel.
If not, you need Flashtool.
- make sure you have the newest version of flashtool and driver
- connect your phone to pc.
- when computer show error about usb not recognized, go to computer management - device manager. Find something in universal serial bus controller list that have yellow triangle and exclamation mark. right click and remove it
- disconnect your phone then reboot your pc
- install flashtool and driver, reboot pc again
- connect your phone to pc. Now, it should detect your phone.
- do flashing procedure

To use Flashtool put phone in flashmode, it will not work in recovery mode
To put phone in flashmode
Hold power + both volume keys
wait till you feel three vibrations.
Make sure you have installed Z drivers flashmode drivers & fastboot drivers(Setup fille is in driver folder of flashtool)
Keep FTF file in firmware folder of flashtool
Start flashtool
Click the thunder button
select flashmode
select the FTF file
When it tells you to connect phone
Hold volume down key and connect USB it should start flashing

[Q] Xperia V Possible Bricked HELLLPPPPP!

Ooops.
Leave the phone off, connect it in fastboot mode (I know you said it did not work, but that might just be the LED, please try it again) and then run this

no the phone doesnt connect in fastboot mode it shows no led nothing i only see in device manager that there is a

yes, open up a command window where you have adb and fastboot installed on your PC.
If you do not have them installed then download and install this
minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.1.3_setup.exe - 2.12 MB

By definition a hard brick is not recoverable.
OK, try this.
Code:
adb devices
and tell me what that says.
Also, download and install flashtool from the first thread in the dev section. Open the driver folder from the installation path and run drivers.exe. Choose flashmode, fastboot and TX drivers.
Then run flashtool and attach the phone, disconnect and try attaching in flashmode, disconnect and try to attach in fastboot. Then copy and paste the output from flashtool here.
One final thing, try to attach again in flashmode but this time do this.
Press and hold volume up, attach USB cable, keep pressing volume up and now press the power button. Hold both buttons for 10 seconds or until the green LED comes on. Tell me what happens.

nothing happens man...no leds showing up no connection to pc...only this is showing up on device manager when i connect phone to pc qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 com8

He cannot connect in flashmode, so that wont work, he will have to solve the connection problem before repairing the OS

Your warrenty is void because you unlocked the bootloader.

oh one more thought from me. you sure your battery wasnt gone empty while you did flashing stuff?
happened to me one time, restored backup and battery gone empty while in the process. it looked dead too for some time, but wasnt.

and what is this meaning man?my battery was something like 18 percent when i flashed...so may the battery be broken?anyway when i put the phone into charge without battery red led flashes for one time...what this means?

when you put charger in, is it loading the battery the usual way like it did before you broke your handy?
also you not answered one of my previous posts, you flashed the CM kernel without flashing any CM rom. you on stock sony rom or on cm when mistake happens?

Z3C brick ! can't get into flashmode! help!

My z3compact became a brick. I can't turn on it . When I connect to computer , I can't use flashtool to flash a rom because "usb debug off"appear . When I use pc companion to repair , it can't detect my phone though I enter the volume- for a long time . When my phone connect to flashtool , the red led can turn on for several seconds ,then it turn off ,green led never turn on! When I plug in , nothing happen . I don't know how to deal with my phone .Can someone help me?

Did u shut the device down? With volume up and power button pressing at the same time till its vibrate?

Yes , I shut down my phone as you mentioned, the device vibrated for 3 times , then I connect it to my pc , pc companion can't detect it ,flashtool only appear device connected but usb debug off .

So u dont need a light for fastboot so just make the phone of by pressing power and volume up button than wait 5sec then u just hold the vol. Up button and connect ur phone with the PC

I tried for several times , failed.... Now I plug in the battery . I hope the screen can light on

Though I hold vol.+ and power ,device vibrated ,but nothing happen.

Dont press power button for fastboot mode just do power of if its vibrate 3 times than your phone is off OK? Next step is connect ur USB cable to PC than press only the vol up button !!!!!! not the power button!!!!!! and then connect ur phone with the USB cable so then just make fastboot flash bootimage Form a Rom of your choice vor stock firmware

After I press vol+ and connect to pc , the led become red then turn off ,flashtool still appear device connected but usb debug off. I heard that only the led turn into green from red then the flashtool can flash a rom , but now ,only red led .

At first ,I flashed a wrong rom , the device can't stop rebooting , then I want to save the device,I use flashtool to flash an offical rom(I flashed the d8853 rom ,my device is SO-02g)after I flashed,totally brick......

Oh man thats hard but i dont think it is posiblle to destroy ur bootloader in Android so im searching for a solution

Have you tried the hard reset button?
Under the flap next to where the sim goes, is a tiny hole. You need a pin to press and reset.
Edit: Do you have ADB installed? Have you installed the Sony drivers. on your PC?
You also need to run the exe in the Drivers folder within Flashtool, to make sure you have correct flashomde drivers available. Installing these drivers is very difficult in Windows 10 and it require restarting the machine in safe mode, and going into the advanced settings to disable driver signature checking, this how to video is for windows 8, but you'll get the idea
All of those need to be in place before flashtool will work.
Does it go into flashmode? Make sure it's turned off, start flashtool on your pc, then hold the volume down while plugging in the usb cable. If flashtool recognises it then you can follow bilboa1's great guide. You will probably have to start from scratch, old firmware, root exploit, recovery etc etc.

I installed all the drivers correctly , hard reset yellow does nothing. Now I use window7 to save my phone , I have found sth. useful. The device cpu send sth. about QHSUSB_BULK driver . Which means the the most basic software had lost. Now I am searching for the device bootloader .

Exactly the same happened to me this morning. I had not time so I left it and came back at midday. After trying to reset it many times it finally turned on (maybe 15 min trying), but the USB port completely died... Then I notices son humidity in the two cameras crystals. The phone was working great, I even play asphalt 8 for 20 min and nothing wrong happened. I've just sent it to repair. Tech guy told my that maybe the motherboard is compromised.
The only thing I can surely tell you is keep trying, it worked for me.
