I9000XWJW9 (2.3.6) is latest European firmware. You can upgrade it with Odin or Heimdall
You may have some issues, ofc. For me this ROM is perfect

Greetings from Germany. Phone runs on 2.2 Android with Kernel 2.6.32.9 root @ SE-S608#1
The Samsung Kies says
PDA:JPH
PHONE:JPP
CSC:JPA (ORS)
I wanted to upgrade to Gingerbread, but Kies says its already running on the newest available (Froyo). Im using the english version of Kies, think it doesn't matter?
1. Im using the german O2 Network, and I think the phone is not branded or rooted cause its new. Is the Gingerbread not out yet for my phone version ?
2. Can I flash the newest firmware like 2.3.4 by using Odin - WITHOUT rooting the phone - (rooting voids the warranty) ?
3. Is there currently any good custom ROM which is perfectly stable and has none bugs or lacking functions of official Gingerbread 2.3 ?
Heres a great 2.3.3 rom (Darkys)
Very stable and very fast, give it a go, you have to flash the JVH base rom first.
have a read....

i'll give this rom a try, heard good things about it.
Thank you.
Hey guys I recently installed the 4.0.4 ver. of ICS from Team Nyx and I was wandering if you guys could help me by telling my where I can find the latest version of Devil Kernel because I really can't seem to find anything , my phone is of course a SGS GT i-9000 . Thank you guys in advance for all your help.
The latest version is ver 3.0.7.2, here's the link to the thread:

Can't understand how you manage to miss it though, it's on the first page of the development section most of the time
hello guys . i have a very important question about flashing a new rom.. well i have rooted my s3 from months and now i want to flash it by a leaked rom (4.1.2) so i can get options of note 2
My question is what i should do before flashing it .. should i backup my apps..or system data (my first time to flash and am afraid to damage my phone ) thanks in advance

I believe that leak is for the I9300 which is incompatible with the I9305. What I'd suggest if its the note 2 features your after, either wait untill December 5th when I believe the offical Jelly bean 4.1.2 for the I9305 is to be released. Or install a custom rom for instance the Pandorum or Ripper roms

Unless its in the specific I9305 thread I would check it carefully. Flashing a I9300 rom is a very bad idea
dear

Please read the first post in MaxFu's thread. Especially chapter 4. Technical Description.
But you are really sure what you want to do? New member, first post - so I guess not very experienced.
You should know and read about the possibility to brick your device with ICS 4.0.4 stock. Please be careful.
Or better: switch to one of the Custom Roms (GB, ICS or JB, or CM or...). These are safe, you'll get good instructions how to install and excellent Roms to play with.
Hi
need help, I am new with that kind of stuff and don't know the exact version and files that I have to download to root my (Galaxy S I9000 Firmware 2.2 based version I9000JXJPD Kernel version 2.6.32.9 build number FROYO.JPJPF) to the latest Android Jelly beans version. I need a very basic ROM and a method that does not depend on PC -if it possible.
there so many threads talking similar to that issue causing confusing, some said that i have to upgrade to Icecream sandwich before upgrading to jelly beans or my phone will be dead. thats why i am asking help for the easiest and safer way to make this upgrade.
do I need to upgrade the Kernel as well? and how can I do that. and how can I preserve (backup) my excessing ROM?
Thank you.
this thread should help...
