Motion (accelerometer) gesture - LG Optimus 2x

hi guys, my name is Daniele, i'm from italy, and i'm new writing on here, even if this forum has been useful hundreds of times already for me.
i have a lg p990, i bought more than a year ago, and it had gingerbread on it, if i recall it right. after than, i flashed several roms, and now i have cm10.1, android 4.2.1.
the only setting i really miss from the stock rom is the accelerometer gesture, or motion gestures setting, which helped in writing messages, making you just move forward and backward among the letters with a hit on one side of the phone. is there a way to have it back on the phone? has anyone made an app, or a zip to be flashed to improve the system by adding this setting? i found cyanogen really an improvement, but the developers have just ignored some of these little settings that made our lives better and easier. it drives me crazy and takes a lot of time for me to find the right position of a mistake made in a message, especially when i'm on a bus or i'm walking, while with that setting i just had to hit it, and i was there.
hope you can help me!!!
thanks!!! bye!

yeah, i miss tha gesture too

Upgraded phonepad text entry?

Firstly, may I say this is an excellent forum and a mine of useful information. I've had my Wizard (O2 XDA Mini S) for a couple of weeks and have found all sorts of useful stuff on here for it, so thank you very much.
I do have one gripe about the Wizard compared to my last phone, a Sony Ericsson P910i. The T9 phonepad text entry program is a bit pants. It's partly because it uses the screen rather than dedicated buttons, but mainly because some of the features in most T9 phones aren't there (or maybe I just can't find them).
For example, I want to type "pet.". I begin by typing 738, which comes up initially as "set". I scroll across to "pet" and then type 1 for ".". However, the text jumps back to "set." instead of "pet.". This, frankly, is a pain in the ass.
So, in short, are there updated phonepads out there that are more intuative than the standard one? I've searched on this forum, but have only seen different skins, which only change the look, not the functionality.
Many thanks in advance for any advice, and once again, well done on such an informative forum.
Funny you should mention this. I ran across this earlier today...(I had alot of time to play around here today)
Check this out. http://free.tengo.net/ I have not installed it myself, but check out the demo, sounds pretty cool and might help you in your quest.
If you do install it please post your results so we all can evaluate.
I had actually downloaded that already. It's quite good, but it's for use with the stylus and doesn't work with one hand (the buttons are too small).
Give it a go if you write a lot with the stylus, but it's not what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.

Brand New Tilt, have a couple questions.

Ok, I just want you all to know, that I heavily modded the x6700 from Verizon a while back.... key words being a while back. I was into different roms, ect. ect. so I was pretty into it..
1)So far on the tilt, I would like to know if there is a way to scroll through PIE without having the next point of scroll be the next link on the web page. Does the same thing in email, but PIE is a bigger annoyance.
Does what I am saying make sense?
2) What are some of the ways people are speeding this phone up. On the vx6700, I remember removing some customization after a hard reset, and also having some over clocking options.
These 2 will get me started. In the mean time I'm going to start searching for some neat tools. 1st in line is a keyboard that will let me type one handed txts and emails while in portrait mode...
1) download kaiser tweak on the stickies, enable dpad navigation. *note it will start sms/emai/etc on the bottom. Also download the pie fast scroll, for smoother results
2)in my experience the only thing that sped my kaiser up, was flashing a new rom(using q mobile) Registry edits didnt work that well compared to a optimized rom
as a tip for keyboard, resco works great for one handed.
I did that with my PIE but I forgot exactly what I did. Also there are speed roms out there(Dutty's ROMs).
Thanks guys! Is the custom rom the same as starting the phone without any at&t stuff on it?
Is this better than over clocking as well?
Hell, I can't even find the file explorer yet..... it's been that long!

Flash ROM or Not?

I've had a Wing for about a year now (t-mobile). During this time I never really read much about modding the phone and such. However, it is a bit plain and very slow if anything is open.
I've been reading a lot and recently changed the pagepool size and am now working on using PocketMechanic to move stuff to the flash card. I do however have a couple questions:
Should I flash my wing or just optimize how it is now? What is a good home screen I can download that doesn't kill my battery life? What will I be losing if I flash? Do all the ROMs kill my battery life? How can I choose the right ROM for me? I can't decide after reading over a lot of them.
I know someone is going to say use the search. I have and have been reading for hours lastnight. If someone can just help a bit I'd be much appreciated.
i would definatly flash your rom, i would use one of the open touch roms they all have good battery life. flashing your wing is like optimizing without having to take the time to find the programs and do the registry tweaks. a good homescreen i think is spb mobile shell, just make sure you disable smart gestures, i usuall can go around 2.5 days without charging.
Downside?
Are there any downsides to doing this?
Cant think of any downsides, its all for a good cause, oh one downside, you might lose your applications you've downloaded if any. Other than that its WAY better that the original T-Mo ROM
You've been wasting your time using the original stock rom. Flash a new rom (I reccommend ITJE or ASERGs) and you're going to see a 2 fold improvement on your phone immediately.
the one downside is that if you dont follow the directions you could brick your phone
So I tried a number of ROMs today:
-Papa
-Multiple versions of the Open Touch ROMs
Here is my conclusion and thoughts. Perhaps you guys can guide me a bit to a final solution.
They all look beautiful without a doubt. I didn't have any initial problems loading or using any of them except the lock program wasn't locking the volume control. However, just do perform quick tasks like I normally do to lock the phone or go to the comm manager felt like a chore to do. They looked nice, but I had to go through a lot to do anything. The Open Touch ROMs with Throttle Launcher were annoying when viewing mail because you could only quickly see 1 at a time with the large mail that pops up when you click the icon.
I really like the look of the SPG Shell Theme they have right on their homepage, but it's not free. Any of you guys have advice? I use this for work a lot so the mail / calendar / tasks view are really beneficial for me to be viewable at all times like the default theme. This is why I was saying SPG looked nice with whatever theme it is they have on their site.
I will try an Aserg on my phone tomorrow as it looks similar to the default.
Anyways, thanks in advanced for all of the help so far. I really appreciate it.
You'll be very satisfied with Aserg's rom. I look foward to hearing what you think.
Keep in mind, any rom you flash, you'll have to set up a couple of things ... such as the device lock today plugin .. settings, etc ... don't expect a rom to fulfill ALL of your needs from the moment its flashed. When you get into a new car, you still have to adjust the seat, mirrors, steering wheel ..etc.. You can't decide to scrap one car because the mirrors weren't in the position you wanted them to be.

How to disable capacitive ring

So I have had my Touch Pro from the beginning and have absolutely loved this phone, especially with the newest rom additions. One thing that still annoys me though is the capacitive zoom ring on the Touch Pro. When I do stuff in Word, Excel or Email it seems I accidentally hit that thing all the time and then it zooms either in or out and then I have to fix it. Really that ring is soo unpredictable I was just wondering how I can just disable it for all applications. I don't use it ever on purpose, does anyone know how to do it through the registry or anything like that?
My scroll wheel area fritzed out a while back and would zoom in and out like a yo yo for no reason. Drove me nuts on a regular basis. Disabling the scroll as described here (post #6) worked for me. No trouble since.
Wow that works, don't know how I missed that thread but I am glad you pointed it out. I copied a blank smarttouch.dll to the windows directory and it looks like it disabled the scroll now. Now I am a happy camper, I think this will breathe another 6 months of life out of my phone.

[Q] The Gallery Makes Reading Manga Difficult

Hiya everyone!
I'm new here, but I have to thank you for your help already; while I was having trouble setting up Kies, I found this forum and the advice here helped me through. I really needed the help, because I'm completely new to this sort of thing - my last phone was, what, seven years old? So this technology is kinda new to me.
However, there is now another issue bugging me:
I'm rather fond of reading manga, and with my new phone I can do it anywhere, without having to drag entire volumes with me (I'm a quick reader). However, problems do arise!
First of all, the Gallery function seems inclined to organise pictures based on date rather than name. Seeing as mangas aren't always edited in the correct order, this invariably means that some chapters or pictures will get jumbled up, arrive in the wrong place etc (like Chapter 49 coming before Chapter 48 or the second half of Chapter 70 coming before the first half). The files are sorted correctly in their folder under "My Files", but not in the gallery. Any ideas?
Secondly, it gets rather tiresome to have to tap the screen constantly, so I'd like to be able to view it as a slideshow. The problem, however, is that the slideshow function moves far too quick; is there any way to make the slideshow wait longer between each picture?
I have already searched the forums for help, and found some threads, but no answers, sadly. Also, seeing as I'm a complete beginner, I'm yet to download any Apps - are there any Apps that would fix this?
Thank you in advance!
try out acv, android comic viewer. It works quite well for me, I've been reading berserk on it. Also you can try manga browser. It will essentially stream manga from manga sites for you. Hope this helps!
Hmm, I downloaded ACV, and it does indeed work much better than the Galleries - it keeps everything in the right order.
However, am I just going mad or is there no auto-play feature? Although, under Settings --> ACV format, there is an option called "Autoplay", it doesn't actually seem to do anything... so is there any possibility for it autoplaying (preferably with about 10-12 seconds per picture?)
I ask because I am currently having some muscle issues with my arms, and after clicking the same "Next"-buttons a couple of hundred times they really start to hurt.
