[Q] Tether i9305 Three-UK without Charge - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hello experts...
Can anyone confirm before I attempt to tether...
Can I tether my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9305 on Three-UK network with unlimited download to my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and my Laptop without incurring Tethering charges,,, Using Wifi Connection to both devices.
Appreciate any advice.
AJW

Yes and no. Tethering is allowed only on The One Plan, so if that's your plan than yes

Thanks for the reply... The plan is called Unlimited Internet 1000. Does that one qualify?

I'll repeat, "The One Plan" ONLY!
Your plan doesn't allow tethering.

Don't use your phone if you are concerned about Ma Bell knowing your usage. It is not going to happen.
but isn't rooting android illegal (okay so it isn't illegal and it was my friend who wanted to know this I told him its not possible but he won't agree I also yolks him it would be illegal anyways)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
There's nothing illegal about rooting or modifying your phone. Doing either of these does not make you benefit financially in any way. Trying to get a paid service, illegally for free is, well, illegal. I don't think your post has much of a life left on this forum. Just an fyi. good luck to ya though.

if jailbreaking isnt illegal, rooting is far from being illegal also. rooting only voids a phones warranty and voiding warranties isnt illegal
Google encourages rooting.

Unlock your phone then get a Verizon or Sprint plan. AT&T will have no idea how much data you're using.
Wait you mean I can go to verizon and use there data plan and still use att's network
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
No man. He means unlock your phone (search it) and then sign up for verizon or sprint and their unlimited data plans and no longer use at&t
sent from somewhere in the hills of kentucky
Wow. I see you guys don't understand the differences and capabilities between cdma and gsm networks. You will not get a captivate on Verizon or Sprint

Yeah and when you use too much data, they'll just throttle you.
Att to throttle top 5% data consumers October.
But it's still unlimited!
Its BS lol...

XDA is not a hacking forum where you'll find support for passwordz.
Wrong place and bad intentions.
Ask Google! I ask it everything! Thanks to Google I now know how kids are made..

No like completely take off the data plan.
For example I can't do this on my GS3 because ATT doesn't let me unless I switch my sim to a non smartphone

Most android, AT&T won't let you but if you swap phone, you don't have to tell them what phone you'll be using. Just tell them to disable it.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Get it removed from your plan and turn off celullar data. Just don't ever use an official update, it will re-activate the phone and AT&T will get a message saying you switched phones, happened when I put my sim in an iPhone a few years ago without thinking

Probably but windows phone will lose Windows's support pretty soon so not such a good idea to get one.

TMO Galaxy Tab + 200MB free plan?

I just hung up the phone with T-Mobile after they told me that SGH-T849 is not eligible for the free 200MB mobile internet plan they have. Has anyone successfully activated and been using the plan?
Thanks.
Free plan? Got any links?

Just go tmobile.com or go to store and ask for it. You have to buy a new sim though.

Note 3 data only sim

Hey guys. I'm currently rocking a nexus 5 32 GB. But I've been thinking about getting a note 3 for the expandable storage. 32 fills up pretty quick. But mainly I want to have the note 3 for an mp3 player/web browser. If I buy an att prepaid sim with say 2gb of data and I throw it in the note 3 or any phone really would it allow data to work? Could I text? I've never heard of anyone trying. If it comes down to it I'll put $20 on a card and try it myself, but I'd rather not before asking.
Thanks in advance. I appreciate it!

Unfortunately, I've tried this, and it's a no-go. If you try to use the prepaid SIM with the pay-as-you-use plan you will find that for smartphones there is no data connection available. It can only be used for text's and calls on ATT's network. It's ATT's nasty way or preventing people from doing exactly what we want to do.

No... That is incorrect. The APNs have to be changed to gain data. I have done it a billion times.

If you could tell me what I need to do, I'd appreciate it. I've been stuck without data because I was unaware of this.
Settings/wireless and networks/more/mobile networks/access point names.
You will have to add/change the APN to match with the APN of the network you are trying to use. So if it is GoPhone, Google that specific APN.

So with setting the correct APNs data only will work... that's awesome... Now to find a decent priced note 3... Thanks man!

Maybe that's my problem. Mine is just a regular SIM. But as far as I know, they do not give out "Data Only" SIMs for prepaid.
They do for mobile Hotspot.
