Also check the battery usage in Settings>Power management > you will get an idea what eating up the battery and i am sure it will be mediaserver.

[Q] my battery drains so fast in froyobread, why?

i have used Froyobread v.023b on my X8 for a week or more, since then, my battery drains very fast.. my battery phone only last for 8-9 hour!
I use my phone for daily use only, just for some sms and listening to music, i dont use wifi, sometimes use 2G/3G, but my battery drains so fast!
people say that froyobread was good and people in froyobread forum say their battery last long..
What's wrong with my phone??
I also have tried to push smartass governor, reduce brightness, calibrate my battery but nothing works!
please help me..
I have the same problem like you, but I use Ginger DX! I do all you do ( battery calibration, 3g of...... ) my battery drain for 10 hours! I put the phone in Airplane Mode and everything is OK! I change my SIM card , but battery drain is fast too !!! So on monday I will go to the service to repair my prohe ! May be you have to do that too !
in my little research.. the main factor that cause the battery drain is quality of signal.... people who has green bar of quality (in Config>About>Battery Use>Graph) normally has a good battery....
in my case.. i have a brown bar... and my battery last maybe a day with little use.....
but guys... the battery charge so fast, and is Li-Poly, you can always charge it.
Check out my signature.

I think you should try full wipe and think about the options of the x8 . It hasnt a big battery and listen to music always uses a lot of power.

yeah, i think the quality signal causes fast battery draining, maybe i should switch to other operator which has better area coverage in my country
it's also true that we can always charge our battery because it is Li-Poly, but it is annoying to see my battery drain so fast, while some people are happy with their last long battery life..
thankyou anyway

then how it is when you use Froyobread v.17? Is your battery last long? if yes, maybe i should use froyobread v.17 too, not froyobread v.23b

[Q] Is the battery life normal or faulty unit?

Hi,
Got the xperia z(c6602) for 10 days now, and am little worried about the battery life, yesterday got the firmware update to bulid no 10.1.A.1.434.
and wanted to clarify whether the battery is working properly or not, I got 17hrs 30 mins from the battery with 3g on and in which the phone was not touched for 6hrs,( though is not kept in stamina mode) . Total screen time is roughly 2hrs 30 mins.. attaching pics of the battery stats.. What should be the total display time to drain the battery from 100% to 0%, and how to determine whether this battery is faulty or not

I cant even get such figures in my dreams, playing games is simply out of question, as it drains battery rapidly and google+ is already inactive in my ph. i have attached the pics to show what apps i had been using, simply used ph for checking emails and whatsapp. and screen time is 2hrs 30 mins.. brightness at 20% does it imply i have a faulty battery.
Iam sorry but, I do not think this is bad battery life.
2 hours onscreen 13,5 in stand-by 6 \ 7 % phone calls and your battery is still green.
Not to mention it seems like your 3G is on and you do not use stamina mode.
Kind regards, Stefan.
Does that mean that i have a faulty unit?
Should i take it to the sony service centre, for replacement. ? Need help..
Well no, not at all.
I think the battery life of your Xperia Z is acceptable.
To give you something to compare with:
My Xperia Z is on battery for 12hours and 42 min now.
Battery left: 51%
2hours and 12 min of this are on screen time.
Only use my signals when needed and I do use stamina mode.
Iam pretty sure if you manage you signals properly and use stamina mode you get aprox the same results.
Yours and mine do not differ to much.
Iam pretty sure you could drain any smartphone its battery within 5 hours of onscreen time.
This the Z gives me aprox 4 depending on what I do, Id say its acceptable.
Kind regards, Stefan.

If you install some kind of backgroud task killer your Z gets better results. I got mine with Du battery saver and dx toolbox and got it runnig for 1d16h26m, and it stays it got battery for 3 more days (stamina mode on, all Google backgroud apps, FB apps and a few more are dead ).
I do not want to use a task killer, but freeze apps I do not use using Titanium backup.
3 days standby is easy when you do not much with the phone yes.
I achieved this aswell, just saying 12 hours in standby with 2 hour of onscreen use and 51% left is not bad imo.
Kind regards, Stefan.

Install betterbatterystats from 100 to 10 and post screenshots of partial wake locks and alarms.

Don't think 4.2.2 is a saviour for the Z. Once my Nexus 4 got 4.2.2, battery life went significantly downhill...

4.2 seems to be more power hungry than previous versiond - try wiping battery stats (though that wouldn't help in all probability) and see if anything is preventing device from sleeping

One night I charged my phone up to 100% for about 2 hours. I then disconnected it at about 12am. The following morning it had dropped down to 29% I had absolutely everything turned off.
Why??

this wakelock seems to be the issue
any suggestions ?

Cm10.1 for me has better battery life than stock, from with a full charge in the morning though out the day I've made about an hour in phone calls played a few games. Its now 11pm for me and I'm still on 80%. Make sure you have data turned off while not using it and use the lowest screen brightness possible, those are main things that drain my battery.
I have installed better battery stats and cpu watch app and I'll charge it tonight and leave it overnight to see what's draining all the power
jb 4.2.x is a battery eater. on my old phone, the nexus s, 4.2.x performed really bad on battery life while 4.1.x was just great.

Xperia Z - fast discharging at around 30% (4.1.2 software .253)

I've got a doubt about battery discharging in my phone. When it normally discharges from 100 to 35% everything is in normal, with similar drops every hour for ex. 2 days. But (even in standby) when battery is on app 35% I see very fast drop to 25-20% in couple mins. At the beggining I thought it is maybe broken cell in battery but I notice that around camera surface is warm, not hot. So it is probably matter of software. What drains my battery so fast and always at app 35-30%? Do you have similar issues? I made factory wipe few charging cycles ago but it did not make any changes.
Do you use any of the power management settings like stamina more or....
What apps do you have installed?
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
Yes, I always use stamina, I switched it off just before taking picture. I use dropbox, GO backup, Network Singal Info, netmonitor, Gmail and one additional mailbox. I have Google backup - off, Hangouty - logged off, google now - off.
Well, I don't use stamina mode anymore. I too had these sudden drops when stamina mode was on.
Try switching off stamina for a couple of cycles.
If you find that there are no drops, then you have your culprit.
So you mean not use stamina at all or switch it off at around app. 50%?
Try without stamina mode.

Get root access, charge to 100%,delete battery stats(or use battery calibration app),drain battery to 0%,charge again to 100%, now see if still the same problem...

I've tried once without stamina but I got visible faster discharging so now after update to 4.2.2 I am testing with stamina ON.

Deleting battery stats does nothing. I post this every time I see someone recommend it, but I feel that the point needs driving home until people realise that it is a placebo at best.

Sorry, it will not improve your battery, just if you have wrong indicated battery %,it maybe solve that. I solved a problem like that.my battery went from 50% down to 18 in a cuple of min.after deleting the stats and a few charges it was O.

No. The batterystats.bin file has no relation to the percentage displayed in the notification bar. It is used to calculate the usage statistics displayed in the battery usage section of settings. Nothing more. The file is deleted every time the battery is fully or nearly fully charged anyway.
The G+ post I linked to was written by an Android framework engineer, so I think they know their stuff

Ok,maybe i'm wrong, but somehow my problem was solved
I am sure that I hadn't wrong percentages but period of strange drain battery (when % suddenly drops) because I felt warm temperature around camera. So I suspect any strange thread/wakelock/trigger.

Are you using the version that came with your phone, or are you using something custom (i.e. CyanogenMod or Resurrection Remix)? Did you see what "supposedly" is the highest percent drainer under Settings->Battery?

Based on that, the only thing that I can think of is to turn down your display brightness (even try setting to auto if you haven't already) and if your cell service is often weak/non existent, then put it in airplane mode temporarily to turn off your cell radio (which will also kill calling and texting though). It also depends on just how fast your battery is draining. How much time are you getting with it on? How quickly is it draining (percentage wise per hour for example)?

It sounds like some of that is just the software then as well. Before I unlocked the bootloader and installed CyanogenMod on mine, I used to see it drain quite a bit faster (especially during standby when the screen was off). A big part of that was being able to change the CPU clock speeds (which I lowered on mine) and adjusting it to where many apps couldn't wake up the phone anymore. When doing heavy gaming though, it's pretty much always guaranteed to drain quickly.

I'm not saying the version you are using, but the actual stock software in general. It's definitely not optimized as well for battery life as it can be in a custom ROM and the bloatware doesn't help either. Using the phone for gaming will also take a hefty toll, regardless of what you are running.

Do you mean 10% per hour of screen on time or screen off time? If you lose only 10% for an hour of screen on, you probably get 8-10 hours of screen on time per charge. I only get less than 5.
