well if you are a advance kernel dev then can you pls help biel in cm kernel??he is searching for a kernel dev as he is new to kernel development......
BLN, droidwall support. Over clocking (if possible, would be very difficult). Battery saving tweaks...undervolted frequencies....and as Hellraiser said....CM support for biel's CM Rom.
It would be nice to see all these being supported. All the best and thanx for your initiative.

Yeah i remember this "option" too, but it was just an placebo ~1000 mhz -> ~800 mhz, was approved by a bunch of members.
Maybe we mean different kernels

If anyone thinks oc "byes" your cpu, then ur hopeless. Any CPU is ahle to OC. And for ours, we may be able to reach 1GHz
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda premium
Even if it's possible, not everyone knows that using 1000 mhz speed all day long will bring higher risks...
Imagine here are guys they're using the 1ghz clockspeed, playing games, etc. and have no clue what could happen...
I dont want to see how my ace is frying in my hands while i'm using it.
Well call people hopeless, cuz they are scared about it isn't kind. And yeah, every CPU is OC'able, but.. OC -> more use -> more heat -> needs more cooling..
PS: ACEi is frying in my hands, warranty is gone 150€ for nothing, k..

Okok. Now I understand you.
Before I release, I will undergo several tests. These all make sure a wonderful Overclock is given to you. I wont make a broken feature. Even if I did, the next builds would fix it. And theres only one issue I cant stop during OC. Thats Battery drain.

But for froyo? Maybe is asking for it.
maybe someone with the tallents could have a look into this OC method they use for droid x and milestone using a kernel module, this would enable us to overclock any froyo kernel.

It would be nice to have it in the kernel. 100 to 1200 that the system controlling like it already do. No setcpu crap.

also setcpu is not to blame for the problems, as it runs just well on galaxy i7500 for overclocking. i´m not sure what the problem wit it is on SGS, but i´m pretty its not setcpu´s fault

The problem is that SGS doesn't like different CPU governors! It will only work if you don't touch the governor settings! At least that is what I have found to work in the Eclair builds!

Seems ignorance is bliss for some of our fellow xda folks. SetCPU is not even needed for those oc kernels unless you want to change scaling from default schema. It really don't contribute to the unstablity, just that the kernels seemed inefficient.

I agree. Don't install SetCPU and the kernel is reasonably stable, but crashes miserably when running cup intensive apps. We have to work harder developing a kernel which works well for our hardware.

I can understand what you are suggesting, however why was it still unstable when I tried to disable 1.2GHz or 1.13GHz frequency keeping the original scaling and running at 1GHz or less??
Is that 0.2 bump really noticeable?

dont know which version you used.
1.13 was quite old. All recent versions were 1.2. Anyway, nevermind =)
Yeah, do want a OC'able kernel - the 1.2GHz kernels for Éclair were always stable enough for me if I didn't try to UV it.
Id be open to using a 1.2Ghz OC if its 100% stable and no wake-up bugs and ofcourse should not affect the life of my CPU that much and should not drain my battery more than 10% faster
i got freez on my phone every try i want to overclock it via setcpu,i currently using Grif CM rom, before overclock i flash the OC kernel named ketut, and then installed setCPU.First i was try to set max to 844mhz and min to 122mhz,if i goes up my phone starts to freez after few seconds...i was seen something on youtube that it could be run on 903 mhz even on 940mhz so what's the point?
and sry for the language....
What's the point ?
The point is that all CPUs are different like humans .
Like us people , some can withstand going faster while other cannot .
It's all down to how much the CPU can do
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Yup. Listen to him.

Going over 844 can cause damage to your CPU. I would recommend not doing so
Yes, people have taken it to 904 and then drained full battery in about half hour.
So, if you're so unhappy, buy a new phone

You know how to fix being a "complete noob"? Reading and research. You need to google it and search this forum. I can't just tell you what settings to use because it varies. I wouldn't buy Tegrak either. SetCPU will work just fine to adjust voltages.

You go under SetCPU --> Voltages and adjust each voltage for each MHz you want. Make sure you save and check the box "Set on Boot" at bottom.
I wouldn't adjust much starting off, maybe 100?
Also, PLEASE BACK THEM UP so you can go back if something goes wrong. You can do that with the icon at the top of that voltage page.

Also, easy on the all caps, please sir. I'm actually trying to help you instead of making you look for it.
If you have this same app, it should be there. Otherwise, probably the reason it doesn't is because the kernel doesn't support it. Which kernel are you on? I don't know what rocket rom comes with by default. Maybe try NoteCore or Speedmod?
Edit:
Look under Settings --> About Phone to see which kernel you have.
I sincerely apologize for the caps. I'm just pissed off because I just can do anything but Undervolt. Sincerely apologies.
I am on note core v14 I tried with speed mod also. But it won't just show. Suicidal tendencies. Please. Help

Doing some research, I think NoteCore is already undervolted. You can change the clock speed with SetCPU and OC or not, but I think it is already undervolted.

Hey guys,
I'm going to make an OC kernel for Xperia T. Which featuress would you like to seen in the kernel?
Krabappel2548
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
Awesome dude, I was starting to get worried if I should have got the Sony Xperia T, due to slow development compared to other phones.
What feature i'm interested in is OCing the GPU higher just like other phones with the same SoC. I thought the Adreno 225 will handle games well for now but it seems it has a few lag on Asphalt 6, Nova 3, Batman and Spiderman etc, not like I play them all but it did lag. Along with a configurable GPU clock and undervolt, like the the Galaxy Nexus and S2/3.
Another one will be OCing the CPU to 2.1Ghz as most other same chip can get to, not like i'll overclock it, as there is no need really, the chip is already fast enough, but it be great to have that feature included as well. Plus undervolting as well.
Updating the linux kernel, remove all the crap in the kernel etc
Thats all for me
EDIT: Linaro would be good as well, as it seems to benefit to performance.
EDIT2: This Kernel is an good example what i'm talking about, be awesome if you could port his app interface with his permission of course, if everything goes well, I always donate quite a bit to support the developer (some motivation ).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946
I would just want a better battery life. No need for more power for me or undervolting. If so, let the Kernel do it automaticly.
Is htis project still alive? jw since theres still no way to uv or oc looking into do it myself but im stillnoob at linux i would just want a way to oc to whatevers possible and same with uv
I too hope we get a better feature set, I/O schedulers and oc options,
I would like to see it set up so it boots with stock values and then tweaks can then be applied after. Also profiling would be useful, I know peetr played with some values to do with thermal throttling, would be good to see some use control for that!!! Kind of hoping that if this is not longer happening then maybe Doomlord will release one when his studies ease up a bit!

As far as I know it is currently not possible to implement OC/UC/UV or new schedulars or governors without a custom kernel, hence, with a locked bootloader you will not be able to achieve these effects.
It is possible, shardul did it for neo.
Theres also an elegant script in the thread for loading them.
Take the source of the module and compile it in the source tree of stock kernel , of course you will need root at least to copy the modules to system.
