It was discussed already. Wait two days and phone will be butter smooth. Also you can't flash non-stock firmware with locked bootloader, only root.

No, Android is compiling it's stuff in the background after factory reset. Use your phone normally, after two days this background processes will be completed and phone will be faster, battery life will be slightly improved too.

[Q] OFFICIAL STOCK ICS PROBLEMS for note!??

Maybe its just me!!! but I find that after updating to ICS 4.0.3 on note the ram usage is always quite high, as always around 600-700. does anyone else have this problem ?
Another problem i find is the lag in the camera? like when you take a picture and then scroll through picture you've taken, after press the back key and it lags for a while before returning to home screen..
PLease say it isnt just me
p.s Ive got the TGY(hong kong) version of ICS officially from kies!!
+1 i oso got problem is the ram...it is very high...higher than gingerbread...any suggestion??
Suggestion:
go to a cm9 build ROM with a "safe" kernel as well.

Just a word of warning....a factory reset or any kind of wipe could hard brick your device on official samsung roms.
Don't wipe!! It could trigger the eMMC bug and possibly brick your phone if you try to flash anything. The best advice is to flash a safe gb rom using pc odin and wait until a solution comes out.

I presume that your screen was off during much of this time? I am using the LPY build and use my note for prolonged book reading. With the screen on auto brightness I am lucky to get 6.5 hours with all other data services running.

I thought brick problems was caused by cwm wipes, i dont think.the emmc problem is being experienced by those of us using stock.only? ?? I have looked at quite a few threads and it appears to me only people who root get the issue may be wrong but i peesoannly think.stock only should be safe

I am having the same problem....no solutions yet. Like others have mentioned, DON'T WIPE!! ask me how I know? lol
I deleted ICS Browser. That helped quite a bit.

I think likewise, there is one case of bricking using the wipe in stock recovery (XXLPY if I didn't remember wrongly), but the person has rooted his phone using Dr Ketan method (temp cwm + su-busybox installer), so is still not a pure official stock rom imo.
I just finally upgraded to official ICS and using LP9...
So far everything is buttery smooth.
Just a question.. Is doing a factory reset (under Backup & Reset) the same as wiping thru the Recovery Mode?

Beg to differ.. On official ics upon factory reset its unlikely that one would hard brick the phone...

[Q] Installing jelly bean on S Advance

hey guys,
i just had a couple of questions regarding the upgrade of S advance to jellybean via odin..I'll appreciate any help that i can get..
1. is there any chance that i might brick the phone during the process?
2. if i do manage to flash jb successfully on my device, do i void my warranty?
3. i have read somewhere that once jb is installed,i might face some network problems and problems in video playback. are these common?
thanks in advance guys..
Rushil
1. Very small... but yes (if you install wrong firmware, have the wrong device (i9070p), disconnect during installation)
2. No, it does not increase the binary counter.
3. No
Thanks.. Just one more thing... Do i have to reset my phone to factory settings before or after the update, if at all?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
It's recomended but you can skip and do that if something goes wrong.
Running jellybean now flashing process went smoothly. . Hopefully no problems occur later ...fingers crossed
Thanks a lot guys, for all the help..

does google Playstore roll update automatically on Custom ROM?

i read many blogs and tech site's that mentioned about the Google Playstore latest version! 4. and its for android 2.2 and higher so,
as a X8 user i am using Custom ROM and even didn't get to the latest version of 3.xx and jumping to another latest version to 3xx because i doesn't see any improvement and effects.
i also read many blogs that say Playstore install updates automatically in background without any asking of permission and notifications.
i always need to install APK, because i can't confirm that Playstore update automatically in custom ROM specially in X8.
if this question is located in bad section! sorry for that i am unfamiliar with other Sections
if this question is stupid! moderator can close it. i will not cry as i am just clearing my doubt.
Thanks in advance.
The play store does update automatically even on custom Rom..
I can confirm it as it happened with me..

anyway thanks for your valuable information, in my case it didn't happen automatically so i forced my self to
install the latest version.
in my opinion the latest version is not good for me, they waste so many real estate on screen
making icon and title bigger its bit unnatural on a MDPI screen, i don't like it anyway.
Yeah the older one was better though..

The battery drain was due to bug in Play services, recent update has resolved the issue to a certain extent
If rooted then you can install wakelock Xposed module.
For keyboard lag there was an update for the keyboard few weeks back try updating and see whether it resolves the issue.
For SD card issue check this thread
No I didn't root my phone coz i dont want to void my warranty ... Is der any other sd fix for non root user??......

There you go:
Does rooting void warranty? How's anyone ever gonna know it was rooted incase the warranty is going to be needed? I doubt they analyze each phone that much.
Regarding the keyboard, sometimes it lags a bit. Especially if it has been running for 24 hours or something. I've made a Tasker profile to "reboot" my keyboard app every 8 hours to keep it responsive.

Battery drain - The battery drain is caused by Google Play Services, which is not under Sony's control.
Keyboard lag - I had this to start with. It went away after a few reboots, along with most of the other lags in the settings etc.
SD card write - Not a bug, or anything that will be fixed by Sony. External SD permissions were changed by Google for security reasons and OEMs had to implement them or risk failing the certification for Google apps. Root and use something like this app to make the external SD work the same as before.
Edit - I see this has already mostly been said. When I entered the thread it only showed me one reply, then the others showed up after I posted. Strange. ?

It's possible that OTA updates might fail, as a system file is modified. You will always be able to use PC Companion/SUS to update though.

OTA updates might fail, or they might work. It's hard to say 100% either way.
When starting an OTA update, a check is made on the system partition of your phone to see if files have been removed or modified. It depends what is checked during this process. I have no way of knowing what a future OTA update from Sony will check, so we'll have to wait and see. ?

Android 4.4.4 Camera Problem

I recently updated to Android 4.4.4 on my Xperia Z1S and from then on, every time I take a picture, my camera just freezes and I have to lock and unlock in order to get out of the freeze. I haven't been able to take a picture since that time. Oh and btw, my phone is not rooted in any way.
Is there a fix for this? Or do I have to rollback to the previous version?

You are using a rom, its called stock.
Try forcing a repair using pccompanion.
Run it, choose software update and if it says you have the latest software click on the blue "Repair your device" in the dialog box.
This will wipe your phone but will repair the phone
