Calendar Appointments on Lockscreen - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Coming from CyanogenMod on my X10, I'm having trouble finding any app or option to display the next calendar item on the lockscreen.
On Cyanogen it was just a tick box but I've now tried looking through all the stock options and GoLocker and they just don't seem to be able to do it. I found an app that alot of people seem to use but it's only compatible up to 3.1 which makes me think that a lot of Sony/4+ users must have found other ways to do it.
Any feedback on this?
P.S. I personally really want to use DashClock but I'm not yet prepared to make the jump to CM10.1 until it's a bit more polished Maybe next Sunday?

Beautiful Widgets

Who has this app? I've read some reviews that it wasn't working on the Galaxy S so I wanted to see if anyone had it?
I am using Launcher Pro. Who else is, and if so, any issues with the weather or time updating?
Thanks!
Works great for me. I love it
Thanks. This is the type of response I want!
Bought it cause you said it was good! I like it.
Glad to help. Was one of the first things i got for the phone
I use fancy widget which from what I can tell looks exactly the same and does the same thing but is free.
App works great, but for some reason lately it does not update the time. First it was the weather, now its the time. I'm not sure what's going on. Looks good, but I may use a different app for weather/time since it's not updating properly
I also have Beautiful Widgets on my phone (AT&T, Galaxy S international version). I had problems with the time updating too; that was with version 3.02. Currently version 3.04 seems to be working - so far.
I tried Fancy Widget, but since I switched phones I had to find the apk on the internet. I like it but it takes up more space than Beautiful widget's smaller home.
El Mono
Works fine for me. I like fancy better.
I perfer Weather and Toggle Widget myself, I skipped Fancy Widget because I wasn't sure if it would continue to receive updates as issues crop up.

[Q] What is still missing on the SGS?

In the days before our official Froyo release there are a couple things i would like to ask around here.
I know everyone wants a fix for the slower behaviour of the phone...
and all of us want a GPS-fix.
But there a few more things i would to see on our phone, and i'll start with posting what i am missing, and i really hope you all could follow my lead here and fill me in.
Things missing:
-music widget for SGS music player.
-More in depth weather app..without the OBVIOUS brand-dropping of
accuweather.
-Support for local popular social-sites in the feeds and updates widget.
(like the dutch Hyves.nl or other local sites)
-An option to look for other languages in the Aldiko eBook reader.
And i know this is a bit stating the obvious; but erhm...i want more widgets from samsung in general...there are just so few in comparison to the Sense-UI!
And some of the google standard widgets should also be there too...they aren't included on the dutch version...just a couple of em...
Well, fill me in, and post your additions to let Samsung know what we all want.
(they must be reading this right?)
Buy launcher pro plus. Way faster then the crappy touchwiz. And it got lots of build in widgets.

They need to fix the way they update SGS...when we update we lose apps, no other phone when updating android does this..... Lol I had a,moto milestone and it never happened....sure back up apps, but I dont like the fact we have to do that cause of a bug.

Scalable dialer
The email app is missing the option to accept or decline meetings. This is unacceptable for business users!
The calendar is missing an option to select which calendar is the primary calendar.

Its missing more hardware buttons! other then that I'm quite happy with the device, I'm a little annoyed at not having music player widget but I've repleaced it with Lithium Music Player which I love.
Also I really don't care for touch whiz as its a piece of cow feces. First thing I do is install LauncherPro as its quite a good and fast replacement but I can't help to think its missing something
The SGS is missing a flash..
Definitly a better mail client:
HTML support for mails
Accept/decline meetings
Needs to be way faster

In the froyo testbuilds i think it remembers your last chosen calendar, so that should do the trick for you.
As for the rest i'm pretty satisfied (apart from a little lag, gps works ok for me)
Sgs is Missing a sense ui ROM !

Something similar to this for Incredible S

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12318068
I'd love to be able to remove the useless recent apps row from the notification area.
Further customization of the notification area, like adding toggles, would be ideal.
How hard would it bef or someone to do this for incredible S?

Not sure if anyone's done it for a Sense-based ROM yet, but these are both standard features in CM7.
Yup, the reason I'm wanting them was because I tried out cyanogenmod and that was one of the things I really liked. The notifications page was a lot cleaner and a lot more useful.
Unfortunately, cyanogenmod had one problem that was a bit game breaking for me - headset mics wouldn't work. I've googled the problem, seems like I'm not the only one with it, but there's no real fix for it other than to wait until the next release or to try out nightlies.
So now I'm using android revolution. My phone's rooted, so I know what I'm asking for IS possible. It's just a matter of finding someone who's done it, or waiting for someone to do it...

[MOD][APP]Stock Launcher App Sorter - Abandoned

UPDATE: Unfortunately I have had to abandon this project, please accept my apologies.
I would like to introduce a little project I'm going to be starting, my first attempt at an App for android, one which will bring added functionality to the stock launcher on rooted devices.
Having tried a lot of different launchers, I actually prefer the stock launcher, for all but one thing which is the way it sorts Apps in the app drawer. The stock launcher sorts apps by name like most other launchers, but it splits them into System Apps and Downloaded Apps, so it can be hard sometimes finding the app you want.
My App is going to provide a way of sorting the Apps how you want, without modifying the stock launcher, so that it can last between updates.
My main aim is to provide a simple interface to pick how you want the Apps sorted, primarily alphabetical, ignoring whether they are system apps or downloaded apps.
You could do this by moving apps around manually but it would take a long time, so the idea is to automate this process.
While I work on the base of the app, I would like feedback on what other ways you would like the apps to be sorted, so that when you open the app, you can pick from different options as to how to sort the apps.
I look forward to reading some of your input.

good luck. I'd add:
1. Most used
2. Last updated
3. Recently installed
4. Also if it is possible add search bar on the first page
All these options are available in GoLauncher. So if you refer to that you know what I am asking
-S
Great,
But can you even add or mod the default tasker like when we long press home key at the bottom it takes us to task manager where we have to kill all unwanted application one by one, can you add a kill all button to that it wwould be amazing if you can do that.
By the way thanks a ton.

obviously u dun have htc phone..
lg's contacts and phone is ugly. plain and simple.. join feature is ineffective.. stock icons are lame.. lockscreen is LAME and slow and buggy with faceunlock.. if u manually join contacts, u cant edit the name.. and the names can be random and wrong..
themes are jus 4.. and ugly.. weather is ugly.. its slow..
list is too long.. lg made an epic device.. *WAAYYY BETTER THAN ONE X* but ****ed up with the software..
I like the launcher but this is annoying, nobody wants to.continue this? I think it would probably be easier to just mod the launcher itself

2 Q's Lockscreen and Emoji

Hi
Probably not possible but i like the blind swipe effect for the lockscreen on the phone but also would like to have the pin feature as well for security. I had both features on my jailbroken 4s but it seems you can only choose one or the other for Xperia. Is there any way possible to achieve this?
Also regarding emoji icons...i miss them coming from Apple I've searched google and it seems to only be possible possible to get them via rooting methods which I don't want to do as I like the BE. Isn't there a simpler way to see/use emoji icons?? It's actually doing my head in since it seems like such a simple feature and can't believe it hasn't been implemented
Any help appreciated

I meant unlocking bootloader unless that doesn't Waiting for a rooting method to be possible so i don't lose BE
Aren't there SMS apps like chomp SMS that use emoji in the play store?
I'm coming from the Nexus 4 and on the Google version of 4.2 they've included an emoji pack that can be used throughout the OS. I'd imagine that Sony will include it whenever they release their version of 4.2 for the Z.

i told that if u clear it u will have swipe.
didn't say both swipe and pin.
but i m sure that we will have first firmware update and it will repair almost of bug and problem; like notification led and lock screen.
But in another android phone when u choose pin or pattern mode for lock screen face-lock mode and another low level security become disabled;
at least i saw this in s ii, arc, x S, gs3
but difference is swipe mode remained in these phones but in xZ not
Oh ok just gotta wait and see...
