How to upgrade to ICS from Zeus 6.39 ROM

Presently, i am using Zeus 6.39 ROM...
I have some doubts..
As in a month or two, ICS is going to be released, so I wanted to know best suggestions and procedure to upgrade to ICS.
I think it's not possible to upgrade to ICS from Zeus 6.39 ROM, phone may get bricked.
My plan is to Flash the Official ROM that is country related and is official release. Then upgrade to ICS with LG update tool. Other than this if there is any best procedure to upgrade without bricking or difficulties, please suggest me & it will also be helpful for so many people.
Don't comment on this post or create flame for time-pass.

Why are you giving by fact that LG will upgrade the international OB?

Why woundn't they

1: download ics rom and google apps
2: backup your apps
3: enter cwm and wipe cache ,dalvik and data/factory reset
4: flash rom and google apps
5: reboot and enjoy
I recomend aokp or ultrasound rom

Maybe because LG international hasn't pronounced anything about upgrade

Too optimistic post . BTW just to inform you, if and if your country got the ICS update over OTA then check xda back if your country version (or similar) has been posted here as backup or flashable zip. Download it and flash or restore by CWM. Dont not install superuser as it will be going after update anyway Now you can check LG update tool or OTA, menu in mobile->about option. Thats nnot much tough. Is it?

I still have the stock ROM GB in my backups, its rooted. Can I update when im on that?

Will you try with ICS leaked (Korean)? It may give you an error with the partitions... Good luck

Dats gr8, ofcourse its all you need but be sure dat you will lose root access till some one comes with a new trcik to root official ICS

I think no need of new trick for rooting ICS
Bcoz....as we have ROM Converter & CWM injector....we can download the ROM and inject CWM...
so, we can have rooted ICS...
Let us have a try when it releases..

Wot did you mean? ROM convertor or injector is not new thing (may be for OB) if it was like this then all mobiles (android based) will need just a converter to do it for any version rooting. Have you listen about "bootlocker"? And if wot you say will happen then only thing will be left to port ROM convertor to any models and dats all.

I didn't know about bootlocker
so it mean ROM converter is only for OB for only Gingerbread ? not for ICS ?

Any official firmware of India as zip to flash? Not rooted firmware

You say that if we flash stock firmware as zip , phone will brick ?

you can find it, search or downgrade it and re-update via the lg tool
btw its not now that you'll get official india ics
if it does come, someone will post it here

I think it is impossible...
Because you need root to have cwm, and when you flash lg official rom it will overwrite cwm (effectively delete cwm)...

buddy, if you want to "flash", then you will need CWM. for that, u need root. :silly: the question, in itself, is a bit puny and asinine
that's why, "we", the people have problem in deciphering the meaning of your question

Nobody wants official rom as CMW zip. What's use of that if u still rooted u can't claim ur warranty to LG.

If I had time, I might flash with sft an Indian Firm and make with cwm an backup.
But I think it will brick your phone through the official update, or how you uninstall cwm?
I prefer to wait for a finished custom cwm zip.

I still dont get, why you dont flash it with smartflash What's so hard about it? And after, it will definitly be unrooted.

Just use SmartFlash.
Its better than what your trying to do.
There isn't a stock zip file because its useless and much easier to use SmartFlash.

my v28g just bricked and i wanted to install stock lg v30a but the clockwork recovery 6.0.1.5 always says error status 0 when trying to install v30a deodexed and on other version it restarts the clockworkmode plss help!

Install the special recovery..don worry everything wil be alright..

you can also try to smartflash or NVFlash a stock-Rom, V20Q or V30A, if nothing else helps

CWM for v30a?

is there a cwm version compatible with p970 v30a? I tried but my phone not starting it gives "securtiy error" on startup. I used LGMobile Support Tool to recovery but i want to use custom rom. Sorry for my English.

If you want a custom rom, flash a patched v20 rom, reboot to recovery and do your thing you ll need a patched v20 rom (see my noob how to) and smartflashtool, to do it

It is for the p925 thrill. It can be updated straight from lg. It's official. Not sure on the root. Hopefully there are still a couple devs around to at least root, deodex and zipalign the official. Though the stock is fantastic I would love to load google now on it. One of my favorite features on my nexus 7.

I'm on xbsa vx3d (custom ROM based on v30b).
I have a quick question for people with official ROM:
Do you have fancy 4G symbol all the time? I.e. before I used to have 3G when I was on 3G and H for HDSA (or whatever it's called). Now I have 4G all the time....
I remember long time ago, when we just got gingerbread some guy made a patch to show actual speed - 3G or H. That was nice...

Flash wkpark's bootloader from the o3d threads. From there, flash recovery, and then flash a superuser zip.
If no one beats me to it, I can upload a deodexed stock ROM this weekend.

YES, the bootloaders you will flash are unlocked, making it able to have the custom recovery installed. Installed the new 4.0.4 on my Thrill last night but did not try to root. Will be rooting tonight, I'll let you know how it goes.

I did use his tool. It was a little easier to understand than the original. When it says wait five seconds, count to five then put your battery back in. If you do it correctly it will vibrate when you insert it. If not, then re start the procedure. From here you can install the WKparks bootloaders and custom recovery. I installed the TWRP recovery manager, I like it way better than CWM. Easier to use IMO. After you install the recovery boot into it and make a backup. Install the Su_Bbox zip file on your SD card then boot back into recovery and install the zip. Voila! You are now rooted. Or save yourself a step and put it on your SD card before that. Lol. I am now rooted. I hope this helps ya.
