Hi there,
I've been using htc for the last 7 yrs, I tried Sony Tab S more than a year ago after that I decided to make.believe. So I got my Xperia Z 2 days ago, by prr-ordering from Sony Dealer
back to the topic, on my (android) htc devices I used to have this feature, the phone vibrates when the other party answers my outgoing call, so I don't have to hold the phone next to my ears while waiting for the call to be answered. it is extremely important for those who live a busy life like my little self
any app or trick to do it on XZ?
Wouldn't you notice when the phone stops going "beeeeep-beeeep"?
You can hear when someone picks up.
But a swift google told me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.James.DroidVibration&hl=sv
thanks for trying to help
I can't hear the beeep beeep as the phone is far away from my ears and sometimes on the desk (the whole idea is not to hold the phone near your ears while waiting for the answer)
try it, you wont be able to live without it the feature I mean
I tried the above and couple of others from the market, none is working, any other suggestions
Any other suggestions?
I read about modifying phone.apk on galaxy note 2 as this feature is not possible by just installing an app from the market
Can we do the same, it was 2 lines added to the phone.apk?
Can I use the gn2 phone.apk?

Thanks, seems all the apps need root access to enable this feature on XZ
bump. Can i replace the phone.apk from my phone with the one posted in the other thread ? are there any other apps that work ?

Somehow the notification thingy (red dot with number of unread emails) is not showing anymore. This is for the built-in email client that came with the Gnote.
I have a feeling its because I have ADW EX as my launcher now. Just want some confirmation, and is there a way to get it back?
Thanks.
If you're using ADW, then you'll need ADWNotifier.
Thanks, but doesn't work with the Samsung email client.

It has killed my phone before. It obviously came up and was there for hours, and the screen just drained the battery. I also assume it prevented the phone sleeping. This was with the Xperia Arc.
There are settings that can prevent this, but then I found the situation fairly useless as the notification was not there when I wanted it. I could not find a method that suited me.
I have no bought (waiting delivery) one of those wristbands that vibrate when you get a notification, call, or leave your phone behind . I think that will work better for me. Still waiting for an Android watch that does not look like a brick on your wrist.

Hello, after the official ICS update for Germany gnote its nothing but problems for me, unstable and slow not impressed at all.
Today I ran into phone app crashing constantly. I'm using Samsung's original Gnote car mount and I have it set landscape view as most of us do. When I got a call while driving I noticed the whole screen went BLACK! couldn't see who was calling and wasn't able to click anything... Few seconds later got a notice saying android phone app had crashed! Wtf.... So I wondered if this only happens in landscape view? What do you know, it was! When the phone is in portrait view phone didn't crash at all...
So I would like to find out if this is just happening to me only? Please if you own a Samsung gnote official carmount and if you have updated your gnote to Samsung's official ICS update (germany) try to make a phone call while your phone is in landscape view.
Please let me know thank you for your time!
Update: I'm sure many of us reported germany samsung this issue but what the hell I did it this morning as well included with video. I hope they release fix soon.

Yes, here is from Italy another "unlucky user" with the same problem!!!
German Galaxy Note with stock ICS - German version and original Samsung car mount...
Exactly the same problem, with dark screen and com.android.phone terminated and instability
I made a couple of times re-flash also starting again from GB and updating again to ICS... NOTHING always the same mess.
I spent a lot of hours to be at the same page
The crazy thing is that the issue is only if connecting the chip that powers the phone. I mean that just keeping in horizontal without power supply everything works. When plugging, at that stage it is the voice car mode that creates the trouble! But if you just use the voice interaction without putting in the car mount... everything is working fine again, either in vertical or horizontal positions
The difference I noticed is that the car mode icon appears, and at that stage we are in trouble. I couldn't find any parameter to avoid that plugging the phone in the car mount this car mode is activated, otherwise the bypass would have been easy, given that I do not use the voice commands...

no workaround that we might find?
If some expert guy here would know how to prevent any specific software function launch when connecting the power in this car mount accessory.... We would maximise the probabilities that everything works fine as without power supply.
The only issue would be phone calls in vertical mode only.

The launcher is bypassed by the car accessory. When connecting power authomatically the system launches the "horizontal car mode" and vocal guidance and I'm sure this state is the one that creates the problem
My perception is that the customer service does not report problems to the HQ, I'm afraid so we should hope they discovered the issue on their own and are studying a fix
depends, i used to report weird bug to htc, but it usually take them 7 months in average to fix it. this is my 1st samsung phone, so i m not aure about samsung procedures.

The same for me. The fact is that we can disable the voice commands interface, but once connected the supply plug through the car mount, the "car mode" remains on, and as a matter of fact the phone calls come in horizontal
The only way everything is working, in horizantal and inside the car mount, is to not connect the supply/audio connector!
The battery is not charging at that stage of course, the phone calls are in vertical but the navigator and all the other interfaces are working in horizontal
Till when the battery is exhausted... it's working fine
Let's hope for a fix (or a workaround from the XDA community) in a short time

Given that at the moment I have not got the root on my ICS, could somebody else have a try to this proposal?
It might be a workaround, while waiting for the fix!!
After using the Nexus 4 for 24 hours, I have found I have two gripes with this phone. The first is there is no audible alert if you receive a text message while on a call. In other words, if someone sends you a text message while you are on a call, you will not be made aware of it until you turn on the screen and look at it. The other gripe I have is the call waiting beep is almost completely inaudible, and the second beep sometimes doesn't even occur. In other words, if you are on a phone call, and a second call comes in, you most likely will not know about it and thus will not be know to answer the call. Today I have missed several phone calls because I was on the phone and a call waiting beep could not be heard. As an experiment, I got on a call and then called my phone from a third phone just to hear the volume of the call waiting beep...it is so low it may as well not be there. To make matters worse, after the first beep, the second beep takes so long to occur, your voicemail may likely pick it up either right before or right after the second beep occurs.
Software, not nexus 4 issue. I'm sure there's an app or will be implemented into ROM to solve your problem.

The software comes stock on the Nexus 4 thus it is a Nexus 4 issue. Not being alerted to a second call isn't something that can be easily excused with, "there's an app or will be implemented into a ROM". A person shouldn't need to install apps or hack their phone just so they can know when a second call is coming in...after all it's a smartPHONE..
Sms issue can be solved with a 3rd party Sms app the call beep not so big of an issue to me so that's all I can say.

Maybe not being alerted of calls isn't a big deal to you, but there are some of us that get important calls throughout the day, and not being alerted to them is not acceptable. Call me old-fashioned but I expect a phone to actually be able to handle phone duties, and alerting me to a second call is one of those duties. That's a pretty basic expectation, and a glaring flaw that needs to be corrected.

It's clear I like the phone? I haven't stated how I feel about the phone besides the two issues I have with it. Also, for your information, complaining is how issues get resolved because it brings it more attention. Some of us aren't content with resting on our laurels and accepting the subpar. Furthermore, 3rd party software should not be required just to get simple basic functionality. Instead of excusing shortcomings, you should be demanding a complete device. Also, to be clear, I want to like the phone and want to see it succeed. I have a vested interest in it (which I won't get into publicly), so it actually benefits me for it to be a good phone and do well. That said, if it's falling short somewhere then it needs to be corrected and not just covered up.

It's set to have both an audible alert and vibrate on incoming messages. The problem is, during a phone call, neither of these things happens. There literally is no alert during a phone call other than the icon on the screen. In other words, if you don't happen to be looking at your screen, you will never know you have a text message if you are on a phone call.

First of all, it's not a Nexus 4 issue, it's a 4.2 issue.
Second of all, I doubt Google would remove a feature they have had since...idk 2.2(the first version of Android I had). Try a restore, or mess with the settings...or maybe you're holding it wrong.
Just switched from iOS to Android (used to be an active member of the forums for WinMo), so forgive me as I know this has been asked before, but I didn't find any results in HTC ONE forum. I am having issues with the call history. It doesn't show a time only the date. There has to be a way to fix this on the stock dialer but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the settings. Any advice would be ideal. I prefer not to download a third party app for this fix but if this is the only way that would be fine, I guess. Thank you in advance.

Good question. 4.3 Sense 5
Date and time for text messaging only date for call history. It's annoying and I'm already over the 14 day mark otherwise I would return the device for that simple reason.

Yes, I'm have the same issue. I just got mine a week ago and installed the upgrade to 4.3 soon afterwards. The software on HTC One is not as intuitive as other phones I have had. The time of call is a basic and important part of call information, so it's beyond comprehension how anyone could leave this off.
I will contact HTC, and hopefully they will include a fix in their next update. How ridiculous to forget something like this. They seemed to have focused on doing a great job on the hardware and completely ignored UX on this phone.
Hi All,
Got the Z1 last week about 9 dates ago as a replacement for a Samsung Galaxy S3. Generally liking it, though struggling to get used to the size of the handset. One major issue, though that I can't easily sort or find an answer to anywhere.
Basically, when I use a wired headset with inline mic for phone calls, the microphone is way too sensitive. It picks up every movement of the headphone cord, every rustle on my clothes, etc. Tried about 5 different headsets, including a dedicated Android one button Sennheiser headset. All the same. None of these proved a problem with
Anyone any ideas on what's causing it or how to fix it? Is there something simple I'm missing? It's making calls a painful experience.
Thanks in anticipation.

I think with Root you can get work anything even the sensitivity of your microphone. It can be easy like edit build.prop that something more but I am sure the sensitivity can be managed. If I find something I will post.
