Does anybody know a way to take pictures with a hardwarekey? maybe a piece of software that can reprogram a hardwarekey? because you cant take pictures underwater since the touchscreen doesnt work when its submerged

Yeah there is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInNsaWRlLmNhbWVyYVpvb20iXQ..
thanks, im gonna try it.
after some testing i found out that this app is now useable for underwater photography. after you take a picture the app asks i you want you add fx to the picture , wich u must choose from yes or no on the touchscreen. so thats not working for me.
after some searching i did found another app that is working! its camerapro; https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEwNCwiY29tLnRlcXVuaXF1ZS5jYW1lcmF4Il0.

Does anyone else also wish there was a xenon photo flash accessory for X1? I used to have one for my W800i and it worked great. Not sure why there is a complete absence of these for WM devices. I think iPhone's getting one.
I've considered rewiring the W800 flash, but it seems like a mostly impossible task.
I've also searched for registry entries to make the photo light brighter (impossible?) when pictures are taken, but came up empty.
Anyone else have any bright ideas?

Rewiring them won't work. Increasing the brightness on the built-in LED will destroy your phone.
You could buy a separate flash device, but those are fsking expensive.
Best option: Don't use X1 for proper photo's, buy a camera.
sure, i have another camera, but it's not always in my pocket when i'm at the pub at 1am and a kodak moment arises!
anyway, increasing the led brightness for 200 milliseconds is quite unlikely to destroy the phone. (increaing it for 5 minutes is the cause of melted housings etc and that's a different story). i just doubt it's possible outside of some pretty fancy programming, and it may even be impossible.
but if anyone had suggestions for how to increase led brightness when the flash discharges, i'd be willing to be the sacrificial lamb.
Ha ha... well is seems like damn near nobody is interested in a xenon flash. Guess I got my answer as to why no one manufactures such an accessory!

I'm interested in BUILT-IN Xenon flash. I have done my share of pics in clubs and bars and the quality is so-so at best. Pics are good enough to not make me take my camera .

Yeah, me too. Wish there was a built in xenon flash but as far as I know there's not a single WinMo device with such a thing.
Iphone has (or will have) a case that has a built in xenon flash, which would be nice.
I have an electrical engineering friend specializing in LED technology so maybe I'll ask what would happen if we doubled the voltage going through the X1 LED for 200 ms. Still I would have no idea how to make it happen. Maybe I could ask the guy who made hTorch...
I'm interested
Hi, I'm interested too, in fact, I'm interested in anything that can make my Xperia Camera better, I make a post here:
Try to aks your friend quickly, I think that is possible and do not damage the xperia because it is just I little
Theres already a power mode function which is currently provided by hTorch tool.
In my opinion the led gets extremely bright when activating this.
Ontop i think, that the htc cam soft needs led support.

the "exrtra bright" u mentioned gets activated the moment u take the photo
i stongly disadvise any of u using the htorch or tuning up the flash anyways , i got mine busted and another guy too , its a really weak flash module
Well I have to send my X1 to have the LED repaired anyway, because it shifted position, so I'd be happy to torture test the LED to see how high it can go. But I bet that changing brightness during a picture would mean changing a dll file or something, and that's beyond my abilities.

Can't really be arsed to get it repaired though, I got two sets of phone insurance, One with the bank and one with vodaphone.
I keep dropping the blithering thing, I've dropped it so much the circuitry is exposed
People still want to buy my phone off me in that condition aswell. Lol

Ni hao, pongyou. Looks like you need a xenon flash for your night shots!
I just purchased my new HTC one and I love it, it's a remarkable phone. However I have found something that seems rather odd. When using the front facing camera, if you are not centered in the field of view, you are distorted and stretched out. This could be an effect of the wide angle lens, but I am not sure. I just want to be sure I do not have a defective unit and should try to return it. I have attached two pictures, one with myself in the center of the shot, and the other with myself in the bottom of the shot showing the distortion I am talking about.
Thanks for your help!

Brave man. Putting pictures of yourself on the internet (even in the name of science). Pretty soon there's going to be the evanogrady meme generator.
Anyway mine does the exact same thing. I'm just not as secure as you to prove it with pictures.

Mine does the same thing, seems like the nature of wide-angle lenses. You have to get it as far away from you as possible and aim it dead center...
LOL, I was considering not posting the pictures, but felt like it was necessary to properly explain my point haha.
& I'm glad it's not just my unit doing this, I was watching videos of the front facing camera online and none of them had the level of distortion that my camera is showing!
Maybe a test image of a square grid would be useful

Good idea! This is the best I could do, a little awkward trying to take the shot with the front!

It might be solved with newer software
I hope, I guess
I've had the z1 since last year and it has never been stable, always crashing and hanging. And now with 4.4 the camera crashing. Every couple pics I have to restart the phone.
I tried to get Sony to fix it with no luck,
Is there any stable OS that will let me use the phone (Esp camera) or is this hardware issue. I don't care for fancy features, even a pure Android os,
Any suggestions?
It's your phone, this phone was meant for taking pictues, designed for taking pictures, taking pictures in rain mud dirt snow, going underwater to take pictures, lol

that's weird becuase i can also record in 4k and no problems, i take many pictures too without problems, but who knows probably beucase i have a different z1 variant
My Z1 is new 2 Weeks old, I root it with towelroot and delete some useless apps than mod there with Xposed (Gravity Module).
No Problems (No Touchscreen Issue or Crashing or anything else) Work Perfectly

Hello,
What do you mean by screach? Sorry i'm French, but I haven't found a proper translation...
Cheers...
@5.1: I know you're likely kidding, but I think he meant to say "scratch".
@bennnnnn: If you meant "scratch", you might want to show us a sample picture so we can see what's going on. Usually, if you have a scratch it's on the camera glass, in which case you'll need to replace the camera glass. Otherwise you'll have to replace the camera module itself.

I really needed this feature! I get that some people didn't like it, but all you had to do was turn it off! This is why we can't have nice things...
Lol you must be joking.
Checkout in gallery edit image options. May be they've put something similar there. So that after you've made a picture, you could edit it with similar or the same effect. I haven't searched myself. And in the pervious phones I haven't used the thing you've mentioned, but I have seen it and only tested it out and it was nice. And indeed it worked very well.

Samsung's beauty mode was the best, I've tried all the 3rd party apps in Play, they aren't as good and they're loaded with ads! Not only could beauty mode do skin smoothing, it also did face shape correction because the front cam was so wide it distorts your face.
