When setting lower screen density the 4 icons at the bottom of the screen is not on the correct position.
All other icons and folders are ok.
The holo launcher is ok also.
Not sure wht this thread is for.
Are you reporting a bug? If so some SS would be nice.
Are you suggesting a fix to a bug/ If so, which bug and what is the fix?
Which Launcher is it? Your title suggests stock Xperia, but then you mention holo launcher.
Other information which would be nice is
Which Phone model?
Which ROM?
Which FW version?
Which Kernel?
Without this we cant make head or sense of your post.
Its stock jelly bean rom and stock xperia launcher.
The settings page is not displaying correctly to when setting a lower screen density so never mind.
It need a lot of work i guess.
Strange is that i find a version that works at all density values but its a little bit luggy.
New version here that works awesome!!!!
The only issue now is settings page.
Can you show a screenshot of the bug as I still do not know what your issue is?
Is the stock launcher from the stock JB rom from the same phone? If not, then of course there will be bugs

I've seen what he's talking about. It's the stock JB launcher from Sony, it does not play well (like Sense and others) with custom DPI settings. They design it for a grid of certain size and call it good. Basically, when you lower the DPI, the icons are off their normal axis a bit, and it looks wonky. It's not a bug, it's built to handle one DPI... I think this can be closed unless it's a request to tweak it.
I've not used the custom Xperia Launcher... I always go to Nova.

I cant help you with the first 2 issues but i can help with the third. You can do one of two things, install a extra launcher to replace ADW call launcher pro (its in the market and its free and easy) or you can install launcher2.apk, which looks perfectly identical to froyo default screen, I dont think this one is in the market, but its all over this forum. Personally I like the launcher pro rather then the launcher2, but its all personal preference.
I believe the reason that N1 torch high brightness doesn't work is because of the kernel used for 720p camera or something like that.
First, I replaced the launcher. Apex Launcher is based on the stock ICS Launcher and looks great, but getting it to work with the weather and clock widgets seems to be crappy. These widgets know how to change layout based on size, and it seems like Apex is failing to notify them of the size change. Anyone know how to get those widgets to use a layout other than the long, thin stripe when using Apex?
Second, I'm wondering if I should replace the camera / gallery apps. Is there a significant advantage to the standard ICS apps? I'm hoping there's some reason Samsung gave us the old Gallery app, but anyone know what it is? Is the stock ICS gallery available to install?
I think if u just wait for a while. Some one will release a "Custom" Rom with re-design. Even though it will be stock with a layer on top of it, it will be all u need.

I'm not really interested in a custom ROM. Trying to stick with the stock roms as much as I can. That doesn't mean I won't install some better apps.
use Quickpic for gallery; significantly better than stock gallery, regardless of OS version!
As for weather widget, here's something to try:
Go to Apex Settings, Advanced settings, then uncheck "resize any widget"
see if the switch to conventional ICS resizing will change the Accuweather widget behaviour...
No guarantee but give it a go!

Yep should have added "watch this thread" to follow for ICS note version when done as ICS only out this week and no one will have it themed yet.
Personally I had a S2 and tried most themes and allways went back to stock plus a ICS look launcher, follow the S2 themes and you will see all themes don't get things right 100% grey txt on black background and then there was CM 9 etc with custom apps themed and you loose some of the original functionality.
Or follow checkrom.com for a ICS vers coming shortly???
Hello guys,
I would like to find a lancher with the ICS style on my X8 that has the miniCM7 (so with Gingerbread).
I tried to download such launchers as Apex or Nova from the Play Store but it says that they are not compatible with the Xperia X8.
Can you suggest me any ICS launcher which is compatible with the X8 (and Gingerbread)?
Thank you in advance.
P.S. I already saw this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453440, but there a lot of launchers and I'd want any your suggest from what launcher I have to choose.

you cannot download any such thing from play store because it considers our device to be at 2.1. try downloading from third party source.
and they are called ICS launcher because they require ICS to run so you wont find any for GB roms
Use adw launcher
Latest one..

From what I can remember X8 custom ROMs use the xperia arcs fingerprint so its not about the play store thinking were at 2.1.
And OP if you bothered to read the description you would see you need android 4.0+ to run them.
Use Holo Launcher if you want an ICS themed launcher on GB.

Now, if I want a ICS theme, how should I do?
I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18573172# but it seems to not work properly.. it gets me an error when I choose it from the Theme Chooser.

Make sure you downloaded MDPI version of the theme. And if any error appear just click 'apply anyway'.

The Holo apps are nice and work well, but are unfortunately battery hogs.
I still use Holo Launcher but I disabled Holo Locker because it was reducing battery life by 50%.
Just go to play store (need to be a rom with 2.3+) and download Holo Launcher or even Apex... I'd recommend you ADW uses less ram. It might work for you! Good luck!

apex on 2.3? :sly::what:
The best way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306594 Maybe it not exacly ics launcher but it's fully bugfree, very fast and smooth.

That's a lot of steps and a lot of work.
The REAL best way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289009
Two steps:
1) Apply theme
2) Install Holo Launcher
That's it. In less than three minutes you have ICS on your GB ROM.
Wicked fast, smooth, bug-free, identical to ICS in almost every way. The only thing you don't get is the status bar and the ICS status bar wastes space anyway.
But holo is very laggy. It's really not much work, just change dock background and icons (if you've got ICS theme you don't have to).

Not for me. Try increasing the scrolling cache.
Also clear the data for Google Services Framework.
Holo with x8 is laggy, it's just non smooth. I've got clean rom with high oc and lp is much more smoother.
Are you listening?

Yeah, you already wrote that. Did you increase the size of your scrolling cache like I told you?
Go to Launcher Settings > Desktop Settings > Scrolling Cache. The higher the quality, the more memory it uses.
Do the same for Settings > Drawer Settings > Scrolling Cache.
If you have the cache set to "none" or "low quality" it will be laggy. Try "Normal Quality" or "High quality" until your lag goes away.
Any lag in an Android phone is always caused by either user misconfiguration or file corruption. A very common reason for a laggy phone is a corrupted mp3 on your SD Card. A bug in Android's Media scanner will keep scanning the file, slowing your phone. The lag will get worse the longer your phone is on since boot.
Yes, I can read, I can listen. I've changed those settings but it didn't help. I've done a little test:
I flashed litecm7 by fabe yesterday then I instaled only 4 or 5 apps so it almost clean. I'm using oxydo zcf 4 with 787mhz max oc on smartass h3.
So I installed 3 launchers:
- pre instaled (in this rom) launcher pro
- holo launcher (from market)
- adw launcher (from market)
All of those I've set exacly the same: 3 home screens, without translations anims, on center screen stock android clock and 4 shortcuts and on right screen power toggle widget. And I've tested smoothness.
My feelings:
- launcher pro - absolutly lag free, even with 3d app drawer
- adw - no lags in homescreens, almost no lags in appdrawer - even with fancy ics animation and transparent background
- holo - laggy!!! Yes I've changed settings but it didn't help! Appdrawer works smooth but homescreens are horrible, even with disabled shadow.
So I updated my Xperia Z3+ today and noticed that the home screen does not rotate any more.
I looked in the home screen settings, but there is no such option, like it used to be on 5.0.1.
Am I just not seeing this option, or has Sony removed this feature?
No answer I see. I unfortunately found the same thing, and it really annoys me. I had to move to use Nova launcher so I could get it back, but unfortunately I don't find nova as good as the inbuilt one. The widget handling of nova on the xperia is terrible, and the standard app tray is not as good as the xperia one. I keep hoping there will be an update that fixes it.
I guess it is that sony sadly stopped implementing mag charging and docks for the z5 and later so just don't care. And honestly I can not understand why they stopped that. It is fantastic using your phone as a bedside clock / photo frame on a dock. If I lost my current XPeria, I'd probably just buy the same model again, not get one of the later ones. Or find a different brand that did support horizontal dock/charge.
EDIT: It looks like they have released a beta of it with it fixed, but apparently buggy:

Hi all
Just got my s10+ and i can't help but notice how big everything is. Changed my minimum width to 511 from 411 and so far it seems to be stable (and much smaller as I like it to be) but I was wondering whether anyone knows what are the "best" values , especially while wanting to avoid graphical glitches or the camera app crashing (if thats still a thing) ?
Would love to know this too. Main reason why I end up using Nova Launcher to make things on the homescreen and dock smaller, much smaller, but with the s10+, really want to avoid a 3rd party launcher
I've been using a minimum width of 450, and so far so good. I haven't experienced any glitch nor any issue. You can experiment with any value until you find the best to your liking. I started with 420, then 430, etc. Until I found the sweetspot for me with 450.

Not at all. I have a Note 8 with Nova and though I love it, I just feel like it is another app on the phone which can be avoided, but with the One UI I'd want to try it as stock as possible in terms of launchers but the DPI settings would be nice to do system wide either way, not just on the home screen.
I remember back on the Note 7, when I fiddled with system DPI settings, I found that I didnt like something due to the apps opening in an odd way or crashing, so when I tried to go back to the default DPI setting of what it was, it did NOT work correctly and did not restore the phone to the way it was prior to the initial DPI change, so I was forced to factory reset the phone.
Can someone confirm if this is in fact the case still?
Can anyone confirm if changing the DPI from 411 to something else, and then back to 411 will bring the display back to 100% stock?
I heard that you can get the 6x6 home screen grid by changing the dpi, but I'm not having any luck. Has anyone been able to achieve this?
