hi all,
i have 10e on my phone, this updated back in late oct, ota, however since then the phone has not updated either automatically ota or through the mobile support tool,
with the mobile support tool, i updated the drivers, etc, but i couldnt update and gave up trying after going round in circles.
i live in the uk, and i am on giff gaff (o2 i believe) and called lg customer support, and they said it was a giff gaff problem , yet when i emailed giff gaff they said it was a phone issue.
i realise im about 3 firmware behind, however what is my network thingy on...ie which version do they have ? and is it normal for the phone to be so far behind with its ota firmware updates ...ie...will they come to me sooner or later ?
this has now become that i wont allow to beat me, even though im a luddite, can anyone help as ive spent a month researching and trying to do this, am now quite frustrated, (btw flashing is far too technical for me, and id worry id fall foul during the umpteen steps...my phone however is rooted,
many thx
Paul

flashing a kdz is not complicated at all. its not like flashing a custom rom trough cwm on another device.. you should take a look at some guides for flashing kdz in the general section.

yes, i realise i should be on 10h, but why doesnt my phone see them ? does giff gafff (o2) have them readily avaible, ie: have other people been about to install them using the automatic updates from the phone whilst beeing on giff gaff , or is it a phone problem that isnt seeing them if they are available ?

most probably an error on your phone, try this(if it has the same secret menu)
go into the secret menu - 3845#*880#
click on module test - then click on fota test - then click on DM test, then click DM account manager and click setup account for iot. and select LG_DMS EU server
you can then click test connection to server
if it still doesnt work you would be best flashing with kdz method which you can find some good guides here on the forum

Thanks - will try that. I found a WellCom A99 ROM. Do you know what the difference is?
The reason I'm asking is I am trying to unlock via a code I paid for (as Cincinnati Bell refuses to give their customers the codes, bad policy) and it isn't working. I'm wondering if it is the ROM or if the code just doesn't work. I will try the Huawei ROM and see if I have a different result but I fear this code is not good.

I am now on the stock Huawei ROM and the phone is requesting a block unblock key. That only happens when your unlock code attempts fail too many times. Apparently, this company can get the key, and is working on that now. If / when I get the key and a correct code, that should solve it and I'm going directly to the CM7 build.
I'll post again if successful.

hi
i dont think this can be flashed via CWM
and for ur info if u tried both the roms u mentioned via CWM it wont happen u have to flash it via stock recovery only or u can use Napstar new CWM which has the option to also boot via stock
u also need to rename them to firmware.nb0 put it on root of ur SD and then try flashing via Stock recovery only
Success! I am in no way promoting these guys, but unlocksolution[dot]com came through. They got me the SIM block reset key, I entered it (as it was blocked from too many failed unlocks) and the phone is now registered.

I'm actually overseas for work, so I'm using Orange now. This is great for those of us who, contrary to Cincinnati Bell's stupid rules, want to use our phones overseas and still use CB in the states. T-mo and AT&T give out unlock codes after 90 days, I wish CB would wake up and have a decent policy.
One other thing for those talking about using different ROMs... I'm on CM7 now (the kang version, top of the list in the Dev forum for this phone) and it's working great. Not sure why anyone wants to stay with different stock ROMs, the only thing they have is a FM radio, and I can live without that.
If anyone needs help with any of this just PM me. Thanks!

Yea my last stent with Cincinnati Bell. As soon as my contract (or they change the TOS) is up I am moving to another carrier. They really suck when it comes to user support and willingness to work with customers. Their customer support has been absolutely rude with me in certain of their stores. On top of that they used to be price competative but not anymore. they have went up on their prices to where other carriers can really be competitive (except Verizon and ATT).

Since you have rooted to CM7, have you had the "Incoming Download Mode
polling, get oemsbl_mode =" problem where you have to take the battery out of the phone to reboot because the screen is black and that message just keeps going and going? That seems to be inherent on the Ascend X for Cincy Bell customers. I know 4 other people besides myself that have the issue consistently. Also, a lot of random reboots.

Only reason for this to happen if that somehow you are holding the vol up key when starting. If you have a case on it perhaps the case is holding the vol up button or that button is somehow stuck.

I have just managed to root my old LG P880/4xHD using advice from this forum. Thought I would try on an old phone first. One reason I tried is because I cannot update Android via the usual About phone, Software updates, Check now for updates. The Android version installed is 4.0.3. I am in Australia and it is possible the phone is an overseas model (got it from a friend in LG). Has "Not for Resale" stamped inside the back cover. When I try to update Android, I get an error message "Registered Error - Your device is not registered yet." I had hoped rooting would get around this but it hasn't. Have looked up old forum posts and there is talk of using .kdz files and all sorts of other things. Can anyone help me get around this registration issue but please be aware I am a novice and most of the older posts I read, I couldn't understand so simple explanations please. Thanks.
What you have is developer or test device and it is a bit different from normal ones. Try googling more but you will have hard time....

Try flashing 4.12 with kdz. Google is your friend, try kdz flash 4.1.2 Optimus 4x hd.
Funny thing, when I bought my phone, only google asked me to register the phone, the usual Google Play thing. SO what do you exactly mean with REGISTER?
i think the whole phone isn't registred by LG for consumers, like dimi89 said it has to be a dev device. they aren't registred and cannot be updated/used the normal way. the serial number of this phone isn't present in the LG databases i think. Just flash kdz and everything is fine. You know that you don't get any support or warranty on that phone but you should know that.
Seems like that I would never make it to unlock it.:crying:

Remind me where you are getting stuck?
The tricky part is updating to 4.3 if you are on 4.2.2 and then you unlock, but if you are locked on 4.2.2 then just upgrade to 4.3 and then unlock, fastboot flash cwm and use my superuser zip to root. Easy!

All right, just let me tell you my whole story.
Someday I seemed to overcharge my tablet and thus broke the power management chip on the motherboard and then I found it stuck on the boot screen and was only able to boot to recovery. After I finally surrendered to it, I went to have Asus's guy replaced it a new motherboard, which took me like 230 bucks(much close to a new nexus 7).When I got my tablet back, it was already on 4.3 (10.26.1.18 CN), then I found it incapable to be unlocked. But I still want to root it anyway since the stock Chinese firmware is not even with GApps and lacks a lot of features that others possess. At least, I need Play Store!
Problem1: I am not sure if Asus's server records the existence or S/N of the current motherboard, which is most likely to incapacitate the unlock process.
Problem 2:
Code:
Unknown error occured, which may a network error
Please try later
That's the problem I meet all the time. I don't know if the official unlock tool is available for 4.3(the official webpage says that it is for 4.2.2 only and I can't find any other similar unlock tool for even ME302c:crying, as the firmware version is already 4.3 when I got it and it doesn't seem to be feasible fo downgrade it.
Problem 3: I have tried every root tools I know, and failed. Not possible to use the masterkey…
Thank you anyway.:victory:

Ah OK - the issue is Asus have replaced your motherboard so the mac address you are now supplying does not match the serial number of the device that they have in their database.
The ONLY way to proceed is to contact asus and get them to update their database with your new mac address - stating that you can't use their online web services like device tracking etc until they do so. They will eventually do it but if you can hold of a rep in Taiwan that will speed things up.
There is no other way.

Hi everyone!
I bought recently a new galaxy s advanced and for some weird reason i can't make calls, can't text and can't receive anything. But i can unlock my sim without any problem and i can use mobile internet.
I had first the original gingerbread rom (i9070XXLK2), rupgraded it to 4.1.2 jelly bean(i9070XXLQE), rooted it, upgraded the kernel to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597 and after that tried a cyanogen rom(this one => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497660 ), went after the cyanogen back to the 4.1.2 but nothing works.
atm it is running original 4.1.2 rooted and cwm.
I also tried galaxSim but it doesn't support the galaxy s advanced, also the *#simlock# thing does not work. I am not sure there is a simlock on the phone because mobile internet works.
If you need more info just ask! Not really sure what information you need to know.
I have no idea what to do now, i hope some1 can help me.

Do you have I9070 or I9070P? On CM you do not have network unless you change tee folder if your phone is I9070P.

I have factory resetted it 3 or 4 times (after every rom flash).
It's an I9070, not the P one.
If some1 tries to call me they hear an automated message tape thing that says my number is blocked and i need to call my provider.
I did call my provider and there is nothing blocking my number or the phone.
When i put my sim in another phone everything works fine so the issue must be in the phone itself.
Thanks for trying to help :highfive:

I tried 3 different SIM's but all from the same provider, i am going to visit a friend tomorrow to lend his SIM (he has another provider). I wiped dalvik cache every time i factory resetted it (after every rom flash)
Is it possible there is a piece of hardware in the phone blocking the calls and the messages?
Found out something new, if i do phone (the app) => call settings => additional settings, i get a message saying "network or sim card error".
I am searching for an hour now for a fix but i can't find anything. I will keep searching for another couple of hours, i really want to fix this.

I don't know, as far i can see there is no sign of a provider/region lock. During boot no logo from a provider, sim can be unlocked when it asks for my PIN.
I tried to figure out if there is a simlock with *#SIMLOCK# but the code does not work. Any idea how i can see if there is a sim-lock?

I bought it from an auction, a phone shop went bust and they sold thousands of phones. They had over 20 shops and they were not promoting a provider.
it was brand new in a sealed box and as far as i know i don't have warranty.
Is there a place to check if there is still a warranty on the phone?
EDIT: just checked and i have still warranry (produced at oktober 2012) but the problem i have now is, i flashed it a couple of times, isn't my warranty ruined now?

I am not sure how is it in your country about that. You can go to some service center to see if the phone is locked to some carrier.
I just tried to check the binary counter, but as far as i can see it didn't move during the flashes and looks original
When i go in download mode i get this:
Odin mode
Product name: GT-I9070
Custom binary download: no
current binary: samsung official
I think this means it got still warranty?
If it is, i'm going to put back jelly bean on it and try to send it back to samsung, is there a chance they will fix it and won't find out i messed with it?

Thanks for the help, just switched back to JB (stock version of course) checked the download screen again and it's still good,
No root stuff on the phone anymore, eveything looks how it's suppose to i think
requested to rma the phone and it will be sent tomorrow.
i hope they fix it! Again thanks for the help! :highfive:
Sad news, the phone is back from RMA and there is a simlock on it, but the problem is i can't find a method to remove it 4 free (don't want to pay even more for the damn thing). I am going to a shop from the original carrier over a couple of days(i know which carrier simlocked the crap out of it and they have shops not really far from here) but i am not sure they unlock it for free, and tbh the people that work there probably have no clue how to do it, so i don't have a lot of hope for that so i want to try it first myself if that's possible, but i tried already a couple of things and none of them works. Anyone an idea how i can remove it?

I did not see anyone that unlocked sgsa here on the forum… And I did not see any guide about it for our device.

I was afraid of that, thanks to confirm. Went to the carrier which locked the phone and they said it is illegal to unlock it, which isn't true of course (checked it everywhere and it is legal) I will find a way to fix it with the carrier, thanks for the help.
Hi there,
after flashing an ebw version (since there seems to be no androind 10 ua version) on my v405ua i get this error/warning message everytime i boot up the phone, which says "current Version is not available for user. Can't find matched carrier. Check NT-Code ....."
How do i fix this Warning ? Since basically everything seems to work as usual, my lte wifi 5 etc. all work just fine. Except for when im in the NL i cant get an internet connection through the mobile network, is says something is wrong with my apn settings.
Help is much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

The NT-Error code thing has been discussed quite a bit, as it's very common to anyone that has cross-flashed. There are various things people have done and some have worked for some, but not others.
First, it's not a problem, it's just something that shows up when u boot up, after that it's inconsequential. *But*, I found that if I did a Lgup partition DL of the rom (that I wanted to cross flash to), let it boot up, then shut it off. Then do a 'Refurbish' with the exact same rom. Then I'd no longer have the NT-Error code show up.
As far as the mobile data goes, just verify what the apn settings should be, it may be as simple as that.
cheers
Would a "reflash" to an ua version solve the problem ?
for example there seems to be a verizon version of the 405ua available, would that solve the nt warning ?

Unfortunatley, this didn't work for me but I'm planning on LOS where the error goes away. I just wonder if this causes my SafetyNet to fail?

No, it doesn't cause safetynet to fail, they are completely different things.

If you're doing a part D/L select all but ftm. After it reboots, go to Lgup mode again and do a 'refurbish' with the same kdz.
Most of the time that gets rid of the nt code thing.
cheers

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I flashed to the latest OPEN_EU ROM and now I can't flash back to anything else, hopefully I don't have to if the NT message can be removed.

I was unable to do a refurbish after the DL. It said unable to cross flash V405UA to V405. Message is still present.

When u get that crossflash issue u have to use a different version of lgup. If you look in the 'guides' forum, there will be links to (I believe it's) ver 1.16, a newer version that will work with newer versions of the roms.
cheers

Nope
I have this message that pops up on my V450VM. I assume it was related to Navigation Gestures that I used, and loved, on my V405QA7. When activating and setting it up, my V50 downloaded Nav Gestures from backup and when the phone updated to A11 I found the app was incompatible. I deleted the app and key. Ever since, rebooting has brought up the notification and I assume something didn't delete from the app. Guess I may have been wrong. I'm living with it and it doesn't seem to cause any issues but my OCD flares everytime :/
