Good evening, ladies and gents. Today I present to you a set of data, along with some of my interpretations of what it might mean. By all means, these results do not dictate what browser you should use, but with these results, I hope to provide some information that may or may not influence your choice of browser.
Now, let's get on to the raw numbers.
I conducted a total of five different tests with each browser. The results are as follow:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now, about how these tests were performed. My device was, of course, a Nexus 7. Here are the system settings:
CPU @ 51 MHz up to 1.300 GHz with touchdemand governor, 4 cores enabled
GPU @ 416 MHz
BFQ IO Scheuler with 2048k Read Ahead Buffer Size
WiFi High Performance is Off, Smart Dimmer is off, FSYNC is On, ZRAM is off.
ROM is latest ParanoidAndroid Nightly (March 7, I believe)
Kernel is M-Kernel A-38, stock voltages
As for the tests themselves, they were performed through these steps to ensure accuracy and precision:
1. Close all open background apps (multi-tasking menu)
2. Open browser.
3. Search for the benchmark on google
4. If there is a preloader, click that
5. Run the benchmark
Note:
1. The theverge.com test is much more prone to errors as there are many more variables involved, such as download speeds, human error, and the like. I'm not a gamer so my reaction speeds are not the fastest.
Now, a look at the numbers.
I speculate that all of the browsers that received a 304 score on HTML5test use the same version/modification/flavor of webkit. Chrome Beta and Firefox Nightly received different numbers of points and bonus points so those two are obviously not the same, even without knowledge of ionmonkey and the different cores of the two browsers. After a little bit of digging, I found that Opera beta and Chrome seem to use the same webkit (although possibly opera implemented better HTML5 support). whatismybrowser.com reports both browsers as Chrome 25, and the scrolling lag in Chrome is also present in Opera. Chrome beta is recognized as chrome 26, and most of the other browsers register as just "Android Browser on Nexus 7".
Now, as for benchmark bias, there certainly is some. Kraken was made by Mozilla (same people who made firefox), Octane was made by google (obviously, chrome), and Sunspider was made by webkit (every browser listed uses a variant of webkit, except firefox nightly (?)). You can decide for yourself whether this has any impact on the scores.
Another point to bring up, is that scores do not equate to smoothness in any way. There is exactly zero relationship between benchmark score and smoothness of a browser, on the android platform. Chrome, while appearing to get decent scores, is, in mine and many others' experiences, horribly laggy, whereas sleipnir, one of the lower scoring browsers, scrolls much more smoothly.
I might update this with a browser that you want, if this gets popular enough, or if you ask nicely.
Graphs were made with excel 2013.
This is AWESOME! Thanks so much! I'm working on a Drive Spreadsheet to work out which one ranks the highest.
EDIT: Here's the spreadsheet LINK
Just going by the way they feel to use and not benchmark numbers, I say the AOSP browser is best.

I have looked around to see if there were any other substantial methods to adjust the way memory was dealt with in the galaxy S. After using the phone throughout the day I do notice it bogging down to a crawl, even to open the messaging app. Now I did read in the development section about the recompiled libdvm.so for froyo. But I'm not getting ahead of myself since the file is still in testing. For immediate results I've been tinkering with Minfreemem.
If you don't know what it is, here's a run down by android central.
http://www.androidcentral.com/fine-tuning-minfree-settings-improving-androids-multi-tasking
It adjusts the way android allocates ram to specific applications running or in background. Now other forums have some information about settings and which is best, but I havent dug up much info for the galaxy. The app itself has presets and those work well. The only thing that bothers me is the presets are a bit outdated and not configured for any specific phone in mind. The screenshot below is just an example of default settings on a phone running HTC sense. My default settings running Quantium 2.7 rom was different.

After messing around for a while and looking up if anyone was using "similar apps" for the nexus S so i can test out their settings. I came only to some japanese site where the translation didnt work out very well...
So here is my settings I been using for an hour, notice the presets do show a lot of empty ram "96" to speed things up without bugging down. I believe that unused ram is wasted ram.
Foreground: 14
Visible: 28
Secondary: 32
Hidden: 32
Content provider: 64
Empty app: 32
with these settings I was able to toggle back and forth from apps without reloading. Especially the gallery, that tends to slow down quite often. Opening new apps was smooth and switching back to threads and contact lists were good as well.
I want to quote the article at android central
I want to stress -- there is nothing wrong with the way Android handles this out of the box. It's efficient, works well every time, and keeps things stable. It's our meddling and the need for instant gratification that is the real issue. Waiting .3 seconds longer never killed anyone. But I'm just as guilty as anyone else, and want immediate results too, so let's do it!
If you have anything to contribute thats "informational" please do.

BENCHMARKS of several 3D Drivers Pack on HTC Diamond 6.1 based 2.03 ROM
========================================================================
So I had a little time to spare and decided to install the DriverPacks available here on my Diamond and see if they made a difference in 3D performance, because my Quake III was running a bit laggy
=================================================================
DriverPacks used (Click here for the thread with the download links)
=================================================================
Stock 2.03 based
[*]Mikenificent BlackStone TestDrivers
[*]NeoS2007_Driverpack_3
[*]Topaz D3DM
[*]Chainfire-HD2-3D-Driver-Patch-1.1
[*]GFXBoost 1.2
=================================================
Software used for Benchmarking
=================================================
BenchGLES 0.2
heliosdev Test OpenGL 1.0
CorePlayer
=================================================
Methodology
=================================================
Hard-reset between driverpack installations
Airplane mode
Sound and vibration disabled
On AC Power 100% battery
Screen Standby and Suspend modes - all disabled
Today items - all disabled
replog.exe, poutlook.exe and voicecommand.exe processes closed
Diamond in a stable surface in order not to trigger accelerometer
=================================================
Difficulties encountered
=================================================
Even with all the precautions taken which are listed above in the methodology, every benchmark showed a noticeable range of values even with tests that were ran immediately one after another, which makes it difficult to compare scores which are very similar, so my advice is:
Take this results with a grain of salt and
I hope they become a test-bed for your benchmarking procedures from now on
Since similar results can simply be a result of entropy and variety, I suggest you concentrate on the results which show a considerable difference between them.

BenchGLES 0.2 shows a fairly easy-to-comment result. Chainfire HD2 and stock 2.03 are at the same level, while Mikenificent, Neo2007 and Topaz group come second. GFXBoost, which is NOT a driverpack but simply a software service, naturally comes last.
heliosdev TestOpenGL, on the other hand, is much more difficult to analyse. If we remove the sub-texture test where all the drivers achieved almost equal performance, all other 3 tests don't show a clear winner. Chainfire's pack, although in the first group on the alpha and color blending tests, shows a disappointing score of average ~4200 on the torus test. If we could proclaim a "winner" here, it only could be the Stock 2.03 drivers, BUT at the light of BenchGLES scores there won't be an overall clear winner which stands above all rest.
I've also tried Quake III OpenGL|ES, but relying only on gameplay and not on a benchmark it was not feasible to be in this benchmark. All I can say in light of these test is, if you like your ROM, stay with it. I see no reason to try a driverpack other than to fiddle and play with them
On a side note, I've also tested Coreplayer, GAPIBench, Dinamix3dBench and SkTools draw bitmaps benchmarks, but they showed very similar results which were not sufficient to draw even a tiny bit of "scientific" conclusions (whatever that supposed to mean ahah). GLBenchmark deprecated 1.0 version only allow results that are uploaded to their site and that method, while also being a PITA, would draw an awful amount of time.
Thank you all the DriverPack makers, especially Neo (which is now retired) for all the hard work and dedication given to this entire community! My applause to you m8. Cheers all
==========================
CorePlayer benchmark
==========================
There's no big differences here, all settings were the same on all the driverpacks, and stock 2.03 remained the fastest. I will try with the recomended settings I found lately:
Code:
output video QTv Display
slow video memory
4800 for normal temp memory
microdrive mode
Stock 2.03?
Where can I get the stock 2.03 driver, is there a cab for this?
EDIT: The speed difference maight be the result of an incomplete rendering? In neo's driver comparison he wrote about quality difference and some unsupported function in some of the drivers.
Well I really didn't notice any differences, I also didn't compare the DLL from all DriverPacks, that would shed some light on the subject.
The ROM I am using has no longer a valid site, the maker retired from xda and his site is also dead. There is a mirror for version 4.30 of Shaks ROM, I can try it here --> http://xda.b42.nl/Shaks/Shaks.Pv4.30Full_DiamondKB.rar
I did the benchmarks because after 2 years with this fine ROM, I'm going to try another ROMs since I'm now unemployed and I don't need a stable phone with GPS+Agenda+Contacts+internet24/7 like I did when I was working
The stock rom drivers run pretty laggy on games and stuff.
Is the stock 2.03 driver you are talking about from a different rom (meaning different driver than the one from the stock rom)?
Thanks.
