please read the stickies in the dev forum. in order to flash ics or jb you must flash the RUU if you are running gb. just flash the ics RUU and flash whatever jb rom you want after

I'm having a similar problem, but i just dont find the right ICS RUU to flash it seems.
I live in austria, have the htc velocity 4g, with 2.3.7 gingerbread.
Bootloader tells me:
*** UNLOCKED ***
HOLIDAY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.85.0023
eMMC-boot
Feb 1 2012,01:02:37
what i did for now:
i unlocked the bootloader (with htcdev), put on the twrp-recovery (2.4.4.0) (with hasoons-tool) and also tried wcxrecovery.img (for BoRKed)
wiped it clear, installed the cm10 [cm-10-20130310-NIGHTLY-holiday] and gapps / later BoRKed
since i am s-on i ran the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command.
And the result is the reboot-cycle (cyanogenmod10 - with freezing short after the pin-code / permanently rebooting with BoRKed).
I read through the forums and found out that i need a newer hboot (ICS) to be able to install Jellybean ROMS.
as mentioned before, i think that i should lock my bootload and flash the right ICS RUU like told in the vivid-developers-forum.
i tried out the htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe but it told me [error130] wrong model, so i couldnt finish the RUU.
the wire-trick for s-off is a little bit scary to me, so i didnt try that for the time being.
so, for the time being i am a little bit out of clues and would be very glad if somebody could help me out with the right version of the RUU i should flash (and where i could get it) or am i completely off track here?
thnx, joe
Don't you flash the boot.IMG before you flash the ROM?

the step-by-step written guide from hasoon2000 (link) tells me to do it after i installed the ROM.
Now go back and press install. Go to the folder where the ROM you downloaded, is located in. Select the ROM and slide the screen to flash it. After it flashes, press the back button. Press Reboot and Reboot into bootloader. Open the ROM you downloaded from your computer. You should see boot.img. Extract it to your computer. Open my toolkit and press Flash a Kernel. Locate the boot.img and it will flash it.
After it flashes, press reboot from the phone.
Congrats! Enjoy your fully working or borked ROM! Remember, DO NOT ASK FOR ETAs, DO NOT BUG/PM A DEV ABOUT UPDATES, and BE RESPECTFUL TO THE DEVELOPERS!

i still think that i have to flash to an ICS RUU first, but i just need a working one (without the 130 model-id error)

The model id error is because you're trying to flash a Vivid RUU to a Velocity. You'll either need to s-off and super CID, then you can run whatever RUU you want, or you need to get the correct RUU for your device. I was pretty sure that 1.85.0023 and 1.85.0025 were bootloaders that came with ICS though. Maybe I'm remembering wrong about that, but I thought that the first ATT leak had .0023 and the official release had .0025
please run this (from fastboot USB) and reply back with the return
fastboot getvar mainver
(I have the Telstra ICS RUU uploading now if that's what you'll need)
Edit: Here is RUU_HOLIDAY_ICS_35_S_Telstra_WWE_3.25.841.4_Radio_3.02.4740.09_34.20.701040.19_release_246698_signed
Also - if you'd like to try this before any of that, it may work as well (others have had success). From fastboot USB:
fastboot erase cache
Now flash recovery, ROM, boot.img (from my experience, it doesn't matter if the boot.img is flashed before or after the ROM, as long as it's flashed BEFORE trying to actually boot the ROM)
(note that if the problem is your bootloader version, this won't work.)

i gave the telstra ruu you uploaded (thank you very much) a try, but it also gave me the model-id-error.
do i have to flash the recovery back (where do i find the stock-recovery? in the backup?), i am always using the twrp242-recovery now.
i tried the steps you wrote down with the same result (boot-cycle).
i think i will have to give the "s-off and super CID" as u mentioned before a try and then use the telstra-ruu. i read that this worked out for some guys in germany. i will do this on saturday, i need to be fully concentrated to do that, not next to work...
thank you very much for now!

There was an early recovery that could not (CANNOT) be overwritten without flashing a modified PH39IMG file first, then flashing stock or new modified recovery.
If you update with your device with that original recovery, you may be very sorry.

Well firstly the RUU your referring to is for official gingerbread. You dont need to flash the modified file unless you have the old recovery so thats un needed. Use this official RUU link http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe to flash your phone to the official ics build.
Thanks for the heads up, sorry for misinterpreting things. I'll give this a go when I get off work!
Looks like it worked! Thanks again
TWRP OK?
I have done some research on this and have found that I can get s-off by flashing a RUU rom. The thing is is that I have to have an updated recovery. Right NOw i have the TWRP 2.4.4.0 and wondering if Im good to flash the RUU or if i need to return to stock recovery.
I dont mind losing root as I can re root it.

Found some more research with the borked ROm which seems to turn s-off. The rom is compiled from a stock ruu so im thinking I can still flash this Unlock_code.bin and get me unlocked with this awesome rom

all thanks goes to homeslice976 and please dont beat me up for posting your link as I am looking for easier ways to get this phone unlocked so i can activate it on tmobile.
It seems that I have found an alternative to having the bootloader unlocked and the s-off to be able to change the radio to tmobile with Unlock_code.bin on the stock RUU img
I have since flashed the WXC recovery pretty awesome wildchild, great work!
Help, I am trying to Install custom rom and i get the Error[155] Unknown Error while trying to S-Off the Device.

With an unlocked bootloader, you simply need to flash a custom Recovery to your device and then you will be able to flash any custom ROM you want. The only drawback is to remember to manually flash the ROM's boot.img file in FASTBOOT USB mode since you have an unlocked bootloader.
There is a sticky thread that details how to install a custom recovery and flash custom ROMs. It's title indicates HBOOT 1.16 and 2.00, but it will also work with unlocked 2.02.0002. that you have also.
If you really insist of getting S-OFF back, then you will need to visit the Downgrade Script sticky post and use that procedure to downgrade your ROM and HBOOT.
I do Have ClockworkMod Recovery Installed.

You are not going to be able to flash an official RUU because you currently have the most recent one installed and you cannot downgrade without using the Downgrade script.
Beside, you said you want a ROM with Sense 4 so your only choice is going to be a custom ROM. So just unlock your bootloader and go to the Development section and try out the different Sense 4 ROMs and quit trying to get a RUU going.

Once again, when you have the unlocked bootloader and you are flashing a custom ROM via Recovery, you then need to extract the boot.img file that is in the ROM's zip file and flash it manually in FASTBOOT USB mode! That is how you get around the issue with hanging at the HTC Screen and that is the step you have missed. I even gave you a link yesterday to the thread that tells you how to flash a custom ROM on the unlocked hboot.
So please read the posts to your questions very carefully and completely.

I think you need to fastboot one of the provided zips, there was reference they are signed. The s-off without the bootimg and hoot were no issues for me, think if you exclude the other stuff in that one, it will work, but might set up for an issue on next update. More will come the next few days, better to wait until ironed out, usually there are a few that brick until the firmware is better understood.
Anyway, the soff, no hoot, no bootimg did not cause any issues, extra flashes, or having to reload rom.
Sent from Taptalk on HTC One on some awesome custom Rom!
It's not fastboot per se, I'm pretty sure you have to flash new radios on the One with the RUU command (which I can't remember for the life of me, I think it's fastboot rebootRUU and then you can flash radio).
You have to flash one of the firmware zips and then either restore your backup, reflash the rom, or reflash your kernel if you have any problems - not sure if an early problem was resolved from just flashing the firmware

Hello All,
Here's my dilemma. I successfully rooted my HTC One (AT&T), and was recently attempting to unroot it. I followed this one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823. Since I have the AT&T version, I downloaded the first one the list found there, however it wouldn't verify. Next I downloaded the AT&T AIO here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242635. I was able to use that to figure out according to the info it displayed that I actually needed the Google Edition one from the previous link. I thought that was weird since I dont have the google edition one. But when I fast booted that one, everything appeared to go through with a hitch.....Until it restarted.
After it restarted, I only have a black screen. No start up. I restarted the phone and went into the bootloader and to my surprise, the bootloader was black instead of the normal white.
I've tried several RUUs found here http://www.androidruu.com/index.php?developer=M7
I've tried both the exe and flashing the zip.
I have no clue what to try next. Please XDA, your my only hope.
Are you s-off? I would assume so if you've been able to run multiple RUUs and are getting weird signature results. What mods/roms did you do to your phone before you started all this?
If you can get to bootloader, you're not bricked. You're on the 3.06 GE hboot, but it's not clear why you can't boot up.

Were you ever s-off? You should not have been able to run that GE RUU on an s-on AT&T phone.

You bought it new? Not used from someone else? If so, it was always s-on.
You're on GE firmware somehow. It's possible you have a conflict with your model or carrier ID. Can you run through the exact steps you took when you started trying to unroot? Exactly which files you used and how you ran them?

I received the phone directly from HTC through a sell to earn contest.
Not sure if it matters much but I unlocked the bootloader through HTC Dev.
To unroot,
1) Put phone in bootloader with fastboot
2) Relocked bootloader
3) fastboot oem rebootRUU
4) fastboot flash zip 2.24.401.1.zip (failed)
Used one of the AIOs that stated I had modelid: PN0712000 and cidnum: CWS__001. That when I grabbed the GE version.
5) fastboot flash zip 3.06.1700.10.zip
6) Phone finished, rebooted to a black screen
7) Rebooted into bootloader (Which is now black instead of white)
8) Sad ever since....
Where did you get that GE zip? I'm not sure why the AIO toolkit told you that you were GE but I'd like to check the file.
I suspect the problem is that you have 4.3 GE firmware but a 4.1 OS. Flashing a 4.2 or 4.3 rom might fix.

 Just realized the issue.
Your bootloader is locked and you still have custom recovery installed, I'm guessing. Can you select Recovery in bootloader and see what happens? If you're still with TWRP or CWM, that's the issue; you can't boot locked on custom recovery.
You have to unlock again or flash the stock recovery in fastboot. Unlocking will wipe your phone, unfortunately.
Flashing recovery in fastboot is easy if you have the stock recovery file.

You are right about having the recovery option in the bootloader but when I try to select that option, Android shows up with the spinning blue thing in it's stomach, then it dies with a red triangle.
I'll try flashing the recovery again. After I find a stock recovery img. LOL
Thanks again!!!
I'll post what's going on as I do it.

Found the stock recovery. Attempted to flash it and got this:
sending 'recovery' <16303 KB>...
OKAY [ 1.786s]
writing 'recovery'...
<bootloader> signature checking...
FAILED <remote: 12 signature verify fail>
finished. total time: 3.178s
Is there a different way I should be doing it.
HTC One has the Gray HTC logo chilling on the screen...
Also tried in normal fastboot mode...

Actually, I think that red triangle is stock recovery. I think to get to the recovery options you press power+vol up on that screen. But it doesn't matter because clearly you're not on custom recovery.
I don't see that 3.06 firmware package in the OP of that thread. Can you find the post you found it attached to?

If you click on the download link in that post for the GE it downloads as that 3.06 firmware..
Also, not sure if it was smart or not but I unlocked the bootloader again to see if it would fix the conflicts you mentioned before. Haven't tried flashing anything yet...
ADD: I just successfully flashed the stock recovery.... Too scared to muck something up so I'll waif for your superior guidance!

I forgot Mike updated that link.
Okay, I see what you did now. You've essentially upgraded your phone to a GE because the android-info.txt in this official firmware matched your MID and CID; that allowed it to run. The problem is that you can't go back now because you're s-on. Your phone won't boot because you have the GE kernel installed but I assume a Sense rom.
This should be easy to fix. You can flash custom recovery now that you've unlocked, then flash a custom rom. This will get your kernel and rom consistent again and you should be able to boot.
Unrooting is a different story. You can't go back to the stock configuration you had when you got the phone without s-off, which you can't get on 1.54 hboot. I'm afraid you're stuck until AT&T releases 4.3 and you can run a RUU.

So no getting my white bootloader back till next release? That's ok.
However, how do I flash the custom ROM. I got the customer recovery going but I don't know how to get the ROM on there.... Flashing isn't working, still getting signature failures.
Sorry

You can only run a later firmware. When the signed 4.3 Sense firmware is released (it may be there now), you should be able to run that and get back the stock HTC bootloader.
You need to adb push the rom file onto your phone. There is a tutorial for doing it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317986

Hy,
I have a problem after RO-flash of my HTC Velocity 4G. After second input of configuration dialog (after ROM installation) the display freezes and a reboot will be forced.
Basic situation:
HTC Velocity 4G (GB 2.3.5 Vodafone branded)
*** LOCKED ***
HOLIDAY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBoot 1.85.023
sMMC-boot
Feb 1 2012,01:02:37
That I have done:
1. Unlocked bootlaoder by HTC-dev and „WinDroid HTC Vivid Toolkit 2.1“
2. Installed Rcovery-tool TWRP by „WinDroid HTC Vivid Toolkit 2.1“
3. Made full backup of stock-rom by TWRP
4. My fist mistake. Install “[ROM] CM-10.2 | AOSP 4.3.1 Jellybean [KANG] [Oct-31]” and GAPPS for 4.3 by TWRP. Then I have had a boot-loop. (I forgot to install boot.img of that rom because the phone is S-ON)
5. Go to recovery and restore my backup.
6. Saw in ROM-thread of XDA that is necessary to install boot.img of extracted ROM-zip. So I used “install kernel” functionality in order to install boot.img of ROM.
7. Install ROM and GAPPS again. After a log tom of displaying HTC-logo the CM boot log was displayed and Changed to first configuration dialog. So I entered my first input and the display froze and the phone made a restart. (loop)
8. I started TWRP-recovery and try to restore my stock-backup. But after restore I had a boot-loop: I think the reason is the installation of boot.img. Because of same behavior as in step 4.
9. After that I changed to boot-loader and install the boot.img of “[Rom][4.2.2] Unoffical PAC-Man Milestone RC1 (8-1-13)” and install Zip and GAPPS by using of TWRP-recovery. Same behavior as in step 7.
So I’m not able to restore my backup or install ROM. What can I do? I tried to get the stock boot.img but I can’t find any stock boot.img. What can I do?
Regards,
wawshorty
PS; I have tried to install another ROM but same behavoiur.

Did you do the wipes recommended in the OP? If not, you have a "dirty flash" and all kinds of unpleasant things can happen. I always wipe everything three times, just to be sure. Not a bad idea to do each flash more than once for the same reason.

I made serveral wipes, serveral installs. But no changes of behavour.
I'm in a very similar position with a semi-bricked phone.
I have unlocked phone with TWRP v2.6.3 installed, still have S-ON but now have no working ROM.
I've downloaded a stock ROM but can't install it.
Any help VERY gratefully received.
TIA ...
Edit: Problem solved, I found a stock ROM that worked, so all good now. Phew.

You never read the superguide...
You need yo RUU to ICS...
On vodaphone... I think that means you need supercid... Because vodaphone never released an ICS update...
Bootloader version needs to be 1.85.0025...
Otherwise none of the good ROMs will run

OK, I will install a "good ROM". For S-OFF I have to execute the steps which are described in the folowing post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42401137&postcount=1
Is it right? Although I don't have any installed or runable ROM?
As next I'm loocking for an way to update my boot-loader. But I cant find these 1.85.0025 version. Is it right to execute step 3 of the following post:

Yes... The guide in the first link changes CID...
and as for you bootloader update... It happens when you run the ruu to ICS...
On a side note... If you were to flash a stock gingerbread ROM... Your phone might boot to gingerbread if you don't want to go thru the process...

if I try to change my CID the following message will be displayed:
Code:
E:\adb>fastboot oem writecid 11111111
... INFOvreg_set: request is duplicated id 14
INFO holiday_init_sd, SD card power on ok
INFOsdcc_init_memory_device done
INFO[FAT_ERROR] fat_open_file: can not find SMART_IO.CRD
INFO[JAVACARD_ERR] SMART_IO.CRD cann't find
OKAY [ 1.070s]
finished. total time: 1.070s
E:\adb>
So the CID is not changed. And my phone is still S-ON. I read the S-OFF is prerequisite for changing of CID.
Is it enough to execute step 2 and 3 (1 I hav ealready done) of
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...08&postcount=1
without any LINUX?
If I understand you correctly I need an update for my HBOOT. So the step 3 tries to install new HBOOT by the following stament
Code:
fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip
.
Oh, I see that the following condition "... MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON A STOCK ROM" must be fullfilled.
Since saturday I have been trying to make the phone runnable. But no way. I dont't want back to Stock. So if I understand that correctly RUU is back to stock. Is there no way to update my HBOOT without RUU or stock?
If S-OFF is neccessary Is there no way to change to S-OFF without LINUX? (tutorual)
If I need RUU, which RUU can I use "Rogers" (Vodafone RUU is not available) and where can I download this: I prefer the (PH39IMG.zip flash).
Any suggestions???
I need any way to make the phone runable.
Thanks.

Let's get your phone booted... And we'll go from there
