Hello guys,
I wonder if you can help. I am trying to root and install CWM on my tab 8.9 but am running into issues as the system will not allow me to install from the SD card under the official recovery. I have read that this can be an issue with the ICS firmware.
I then did a bit of searching and found an odin flashable CWN (chainfire 5.1.6.2 I think) which I flashed and it installed, but the problem is that the recovery screen constantly scrolls and it is too fast to see what the options are.
Do any of you know of an alternative odin flashable CWM which I could try, or have you experienced the same issue and discovered a solution?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Chongy!

Hey Guys,
I have an International I9000 Galaxy S.
The problem is that I have installed 2.2 Froyo through Kies, then rooted and attempted to install ClockWorkMod with ROM Manager. Whenever I flash and boot recovery, I'm taken to the 3e Recovery Menu, not the CWM Menu.
I can't understand why it refuses to boot :/
Please help a noob
Anyone? .
hi
ive never used rom manager so cant comment on that but why dont you go into dev forum and check out the roms there and on the OPosts theres directions that are easy to follow
most of the kernals have recovry built in

I'm not entirely sure, as I don't use Rom Manager either, but I believe that only flashes it so you're only able to access it using Rom Manager. Is there any option within Rom Manager that allows you to boot into CWM?
In my opinion your best bet would be to flash a kernel with integrated CWM, or ideally a whole new custom rom. Much easier.

Reason being is because 3e does not work with CWM. Only 2e is supported. Check the CFRoot thread, and if your rom falls into the firmware listed, you're in luck. Otherwise, like myself on Froyo JK4, I need to downgrade to 2.1 via Odin, then reboot into CWM.

You do not need to "downgrade" you just need to install a different kernel.
I recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756
Make sure you read through the thread all the answers your looking for are in there.
Hi there,
Since gingerbread with most probably be the last update for SGS i would like to install a custom mod.
Now i have been trying to do this (darky 10 RC4) for the past 2 days.
I followed Darky's instructions then i had a problem with the CWM only accepting "edified" script.
So i downloaded rom manger and tried to downgrade ta 2.5 but as soon as i tap on the 2.5 it immediately comes up with an error, "an error occured while flashing your recovery."
this is done on a 2.3.3 JVB SGS with CWM 3 installed (orange text).
Are there alternate routes? maybe downgrading to android 2.2 installing an older version of darky and than upgrading the darky rom?
any help is much appreciated.
thanks
Download the rom CWM-zip and put it in your internal sdcard.
Download some froyo-kernel (yes, froyo) with CWM 2.5. Speedmod for example. Then flash it with Odin repartition and auto-reboot unticked. When the flashing process is completed, pull the battery and then boot to recovery (3 button combo). Now you have CWM 2.5 and you can flash the CWM-zip from there.
thanks, i wil try that.

Sorry. With CWM-zip I meant the Darky's Rom.zip, which can be flashed through CWM.
it didnt work, u just gave up.
hopefully some new rom update that is edified will show up in a couple of months
Install supercurio hacked kernel, it has recovery 2.5 instead of 3.0.0.5. From there you should be able to install darky's rom. If the new version of his kernel is recovery 3, tell me i'll send the old one just for the purpose.
Hi,
ok last attempt
i flashed ( odin PDA, no pit and no repartition) with this link:
Kernel Download:
Gingerbread-GT-I9000-stock-kernel+hacks.tar
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=975349
while i was on
PDA_I9000XWJVB - PHONE_I9000XXJVK - CSC_I9000XEEJV3
rooted with root CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v3.1-CWM3RFS
and lag fixed with CF-Root-ext4-v1.2
and it forking worked red text 2.5 THANKS A BUNCH!
edit just a problema. it is only booting in CWM.
reattempting this without the lag fix.
2nd attempt with PDA_I9000XWJVB - PHONE_I9000XXJVK - CSC_I9000XEEJV3
and without lag fix not rooting.
phone stuck looping at booting with strange sound on each boot loop
3rd attempt with rooting, but no lagfix
If you are only rebooting in recovery, did you flash the new kernel, then reboot recovery ? if yes, the easy way to get out, is to reboot in download then reflash the wanted kernel (Since your rom is installed, you can install any kernel (GB of course)) then, it will reboot in recovery again and just reboot system now. This should fix your problem.
edit : Dont forget to get CF-root 3.1 for JVB and not JVK.

lagfix CF-Root-ext4-v1.2-Addon
and

This isn't development, moved to Q&A
Hi,
After some help please, I am trying to upgrade from android 2.1 to gingerbread.
I have managed to get root access on my Samsung galaxy S i9000. I did this using the 'Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root.exe' tool.
Then I installed Rom Manager via an .apk install (couldn't find the free version in the market for some reason).
After this I downloaded the busybox installer/updater and updated busybox to the latest version available.
Now I am having problems as when I run rom manager and try to run 'Flash Clockworkmod recovery' it goes through the process and when I reboot into recovery (using rom manager as I can't get into recovery using three button combo) it doesn't have the CWM recovery its just the standard one.
Also if I try to backup current rom (thinking this is a nandroid backup?) it reboots into recovery and just sits there and doesn't do anything.
Can someone please help, tried doing lots of research but am getting very confused as to what to do next.
Thanks in advance.
Boost. Haven't you heard....its the new bump!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Check Ramads stock collection:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
1.) Backup /efs folder
2.) Check that USB driver is working OK when connecting SGS to Windows in download mode
(no? - disconnect, find drivers, download, install)
Yes? :
3.) Flash in download mode using Odin + 512.pit + 2.3.x ROM + Sbl
You must use ROM with Sbl.bin = 2.3.x bootloader when going 2.1 -> 2.3
If no download mode by pressing (vol- home pwr), use XDA search for this fix.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I have now managed to successfully fix the three button combo issue so can get into download mode and have backup my efs folder.
Before I flash I would like to do a nandroid backup. I installed rom manager but still can't get CWM to install sucessfully. It says download successful when run from the rom manager option (flash CWM recovery) but when the phone reboots the CWM isn't there is just the stock options. Any ideas as to why this is or how to fix?
Many thanks in advance.
I have sorted my nandroid backup. I didn't realise that once you downloaded the CWM you had to do a manual install from stock recovery using the update.zip. Soon as i did this it was ok.
Now going to flash using odin v1.82 + 512.pit and Gingerbread 2.3.5 europe rom GT_I9000_XFJVA_XXJVT_OXFJV1_Sbl
Will make sure re-partition is checked.
Hopefully all will go well. Will post update after update.

Hey.
I've tried to flash CWM onto a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570, but even though everything in ODIN seems to go smoothly, I cannot access the recovery menu. Whenever booting with the home key down, It just gets stuck forever at SAMSUNG logo.
I've tried flashing different versions of CWM, all with same results.
Has anyone here had a similar problem and maybe know what could be causing it?
Thank you.

Easiest way to flash cwm on your phone: download latest cwm by squadzone.. place it on the root of your sdcard, not inside any folder.. boot to stock recovery.. apply update from sdcard, you should be able to see the cwm zip, choose it and confirm install.. you will have cwm once you boot again to recovery..

I just flashed my mini with one package CWM installer using odin, and everything is good..when you flash with odin, what method do you use?
Hello guys,
i have a problem restoring to stock ROM on my Samsung galaxy mini 2 S6500D. The phone is not completely bicked, it can go in Download mode also in CWM. The biggest problem is that it would not flash the stock rom and restore via ODIN. Error that shows up is that cannnot flash to NAND,
also sometimes on screen it pops up message Secure Check Fail id 0x95. Despite these errors i was able to install CWM v 6.0.3.2 and i can enter it. My question is: Is it possible to erase/unlock the NAND and reflash the Stock ROM?
thanks in advance.
EDIT: I can restore backup and update via CWM so if someone have Stock ROM S6500DXXLK2 for CWM or provide CWM back up of the same ROM, it will help me a lot.
Read forum. I have already posted how to fix it, I won't repeat it all over to everyone.

Yes, i've read your post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516190. But my problem is a bit specific i cannot restore via ODIN and it did not had custom FW on before it got bicked Also I've tried searching how to make CWM .zip from ODIN .tar on google and this forum but no luck. If you know how to do that or have a post please link it. Already packed CWM stock FW's and CWM backups are welcome.
