A ROM without bugs?! Hah! It's right next to the pot-of-gold at the end of the rainbow (just to the left of the unicorn).
Marvel 11 is highly configurable, with a few (minor) quirks. I'm thinking that v12 is coming soon, at least that's what the tea leaves are reading. There were a couple of scripting issues, mainly with boot animations (you don't necessarily get the one you ask for).
I played with IZS, but I really appreciate the AROMA installer that Marvel uses.

Hahaha...
A different recommendation in almost every reply... Will throw my two cents in.
Currently running Mackay ROM v2.7.6 (JB 4.2.2). Works great in general but has a few of the common snags as all the JB 4.X.X roms. Camera issues, bluetooth is mute and any apps installed tot he SD card get uninstalled on every reboot (solution is to install to internal memory) are the only main things. I'm looking for something a little more stable and need bluetooth to operate properly for work when I'm driving.
I'm about to try Marvel ROM v11 (ICS 4.0.4) today. Will post up later and share my thoughts.

You should go for IZS, but Marvel is also a great ROM

Zeus 7.06
I also would recommend zeus 7.06.Best battery, fastest, most stable ROM (for me anyway). :good:
Also, flashing the latest Diana kernel is easy:just flash it from CWM with "install zip from SD" option.
Good luck!

I'm happy with the jellybam 6.7.0 rom.. Only bug i can find is that the dolphin browser wont start.. Everything else works fine..

Just installed Marvel v11 and WOW!!! It's awesome!
The level of customization is almost overwhelming, (but that's ok because I like lots of options...lol). It runs fast, smooth, stable, looks great and only a few minor issues thus far, but I believe these issues have solutions (I just have to sift through all the posts to find the answers...).

Im really enjoying SlimBean, its thin, the camera works on a great quality, no chipmuk voice, the video recorder works fine and all on jelly bean. After test ICS and JellyBean, i will never back to ICS. Dont know why, but seems lightier than other versions of android. :cyclops:

You're saying the camera in Slim ROM works well? Is video recording smooth and not jumpy (low frame rate or high)?
Also, do you know if bluetooth works properly (not mute)?

on specs of slimbean shows that the video recorder is on 720p, but i dont know if it is. And i dont tested the bluetooth, i already back to stable cm10 because i have an issue with battery drain on slimbean, almost got 7 hours, maybe is a problem with my baseband version, but is a great rom. Well, i found a apk of stock camera of ICS and works well...
Ive installed 10 min ago this:
cm10-stable + gapps
zero gravity kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082740
and cm10-lge-camera that i found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091599
with cm10 stable i can get 1 day and 7 hours of battery, with another roms, less then 8 hours because i not use 3g, wifi sometimes.

I vote for this.
but if you don't use any video recording, CM9-Kang by owain already can be used for daily.
it's fast & stable enough if using default config.
I'm pretty happy with what I have in my sig.
However, I would test drive the phone for a couple of weeks if I were you. There have been users reporting very bad battery life that returned the phone and got a much better one.
So personally I would test-drive every functionality of the phone: 3G, wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, etc and make sure everything is working fine before going for "warranty voiding activities"

+1 for cm7 kang by temasek (with stock kernel).
I dont see anyone talking about one of the best ROMs with all custom like features with excellent smoothness and best performance....Django ROM with Stefan's or Spica's Kernel....it virtually flies...

I guess question was about fastest and most stable ROM, not about "stable and fast enough". ICS on P990 is highly unstable for now. I'm using ICS for daily use and i don't complain, but there's always something that isn't working as it suppouse to. So at this moment CM7 isn't only more stable then ICS, it's faster too. Android 4.0 doeasn't even have hw acceleration yet.

Agreed, at this moment CM7 is much more stable and also faster, i tried CM9 but some apps didn't work and sometimes the phone was getting slow all of the sudden not to mention the browser was always crashing, im using CM7 now and its so fast and stable
You can use CM7 and see it flying, but without some of the phone features, like video call (I'm not talking about Skype or viber, just the native one), smart share, divx, hdmi video resize... Or you can try one of stock roms with the great kernels from here and have a full phone.

Thanks for all the replies. Will try out soon. Also, I have noticed that the battery life for the optimus 2x is so bad! With stock froyo last night, after just about 2hrs of some wifi and games, the battery has already gone down to 15%!!! That's how bad it is!
Is this normal? Should I return the phone to the store?
Also, will the gingerbread update and/or custom rom flashing bring about better life for the battery?

DjangoManouche 1.1 is highly recommended with V20q baseband and HP SR3R2 Kernel. After trying out many stock variants, Modaco ROMS, Thanatos and CM ROMS, I finally settled on this one as it has resolved all the issues I had with the phone and gives good battery and network performance.

[Q] What ROM for ICS / i9000?

Hi,
which ROM can you recommend? I'm on DarkyRom 10.4.2 and want to change to ICS.
Is there any ROM contains tun.ko module for using openvpn or anyconnect? I can't find any information about this.
Hey,
There are so many ICS roms you can try from, we've really got great developers for our device.
My current favorite is ICS333:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618757
It's really stable and everything works!! There's even a guide to install it on the general section.. Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637966
tun modules are supported by the kernel. ICS333 comes with semaphore kernel by default, which supports tun modules.. You could check and ask more on the ics semaphore thread in the development section..
For me there are only a few good ICS Roms.
The best ist Dark Knight 3.
But if you want a really stable and fast System, don`t take an ICS Rom. Take a jvt, jvr or jvz custom rom. My favorite is Tornado.
Thanks for you answer.
I've looked at many ROMS but the decision is difficult. My favorite after reading the different thread is SLIM ICS. But I'll now have a look at ICS333.
Should I use nandroid to make a backup before trying any ROM?

Yeah, making a nandroid backup would be a good idea. Although don't restore your GB Titanium backup on ICS, it will create issues.

What are your reasons to go back? Was it not stable enough, or battery drain?
For now the CM9 nighltlies are working fine for me no issue.the battery is also fine runs for around 12-15 hours moderate to high use with semaphore kernel 1.1.1s.i tried a DOCMaster's rom also it also great...SLIM ICS is also good but if you are new to flashing you will have some difficulties in it since the dpi is 182 in it and some market apps wont be compatible.Onecosmic was great but since there is no new development i wont recommend it.For now CM9 with Semaphore kernel.Waiting for Gamerzrom with ICS

Exactly what i tought about ICS, until i gave TWICS a try.
I'm on TWICS 2.5, its fast, Battery fine (like Stock JVT) , no FCs., no Lags (after switching from TW4 to Apex launcher).
I use my phone mostly for calls,SMS and a little Tapatalk, no Facebook.
Don't get Faceunlock working, maybe a Face problem *g*, i don't care.
Thats my experience, other user reports some problems with Battery life, check the TWICS-Thread.

Hi!
With ALL ICS Roms on all devices i got a worse Benchscore on QS, Antutu, CF Bench and Vellamo. The "feeling" is even slower too. ALL Roms are buggy. Nice to see what is ICS and nice for flashaholics like me, but nothing for stable daily use. DK 3 is ok- no battery drain- but bugs too. The DK 4 and 5 is poor and DK 5.5 ok but slower than 3 and GB.

You seriously have no idea what you're talking about.
ICS is perfectly suitable for daily use on your phone. Not only is it smoother than GB, it looks better. And there aren't really any bugs. None that you'll see with normal use. It's perfectly stable.
Pick a ROM, any ROM. SlimICS is great; Dark Knight seems popular; CM9 and AOKP work wonders. Take your pick and never look back to the past that was Gingerbread.
I think CM9 is the best. I definitely recommend ICS as it has hardware acceleration and is sooo fast!
There's nothing like ICS isn't stable.. There are loads of roms to choose from.. I'm on ICS 333 for a week now and i haven't faced any bugs, lag or fc..
Everyone has their own views.. I think the best option is to try it out on your own n make your choice.. If you like ICS, great! If not, you can always switch back using a nandroid backup..
Enjoy!!

Doesn't matter, just flash Semaphore. It does. And it's one of the top ICS kernels.
The original release of Samsung Galaxy S [GT-I9000] has come a long way and still powerful enough to accommodate the latest Android release - Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.x.
Read my article here:

Sorry, but not my view to ICS.
Since today I got the official german ICS for Galaxy Note and now i know, WHY there is no really good ICS Custom Rom for any device!
ICS is the future? LOL
Only on 5 percent of android devices, months later as planned and in a few month jellybean release.
I suggest Elite GTi9000_IMM76K_RC_1.2

[Q][I9001][ICS] What is the best ICS rom??

Hi
I know there is no official ICS ROM but i know that people have ported it off other devises so it works on the s+,
I was wondering...
A) is it worth it e.g. are they stable and fast
And B) which is the best, again most stable and fast.
Thanks
As far as I know there are only two stable ics roms - arco's cyanogenmod 9 port and miui v4 which i havent tried, but its based on cm9, so they should have the same bugs. I'm currently using cm9, and its ok for everyday use.

Update
I have tried a lot of Custom ROMS. I found CM9 Acro the best. Now even Camera is working fine (Front, Back and Video recording @ lower resolution).
MUIU v4 is good, similar to IOS. Lot of bugs. (best part they are reducing everyday).
Paranoid Andriod Ecsatcy is a Tablet like Rom. Can try for a completely different feel.
RemICS is also good with Apex launcher. Need some small fixes though.
Ehndroix is again a good one. Lot of fixes. Can also try it.
Now a days there is lot of work going on so i am happy to see even work progressing on Jelly Bean as well.
hope this helps. Cheers.
I would say the cm9 by arco is the best i've tested.

In my opinion cyanogenmod 9 is the best ICS Rom and there is a offical "stable" version! I tried the nightly builts for 3 months and had no problems.
Now I'm on cm10 and im missing the stability of cm9.

Cm10.1 v/s JellyBam 4.1

So I want to flash JellyBam latest version and I am unaware about the stability or performance of cm10.1
So I was wondering if cm10.1 is ready for daily use or not...
Also I am returning back to cm10 from 2 months absence (I was using ICS)... did it gain any more stability or bug solved?
ICS is indeed super stable, but it is still laggy and games lag a lot on it
Thanks

Best Rom For Optimus Black

Hello,
This is my first post,so hello everyone.
I have one question for you.
I need 1-2 Rom's for my Optimus Black.
I tested some Rom's, but I don't know which to choose.
I have 2 conditions:
-Rom Full Stable (all work)
-Android in version over 2.3.4 (ICS,JB, ETC)
Thanks for your help and I'm counting for you.
List for all Rom's:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268290
Good luck with that!
All ICS and greater ROMs have issues on the OB. I got tired of all the SD card unmounts, loss of touchscreen, and other crap issues and went back to Marvel 9 (GB 2.3.4, with the "There is no delay" patch).
The ROM I've had the LEAST issues with was Marvel 12 (ICS); the only significant issue I ran into was a loss of all touch/swipe input. It would usually happen during an incoming call. I would miss the call, of course, and have to remove the battery to reboot the phone.

Last time I came here Huexxx was developing IZS. I saw it came through an end by Huexxx's hand (he got married and had kids if no mistaken).
And since OB is weak on the RAM isn't there any KitKat ROMs out there? Or at least being developed?
My old man deserves more than that crappy stock GB from LG XD

If I were installing an OS on a phone, computer, tablet, or any other device FOR SOMEONE ELSE, my target would be stability.
GB offers greater stability on the P970 (OB) than any other version of Android. I played with other, newer versions, and got tired of all the hiccups and glitches.
I can do everything I need to do with GB within the confines of the OB. GB "just works".

I'd recommend Zeus 6.4 or Marvel 9 (again with the "There is no delay" patch: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27486197).
Zeus 7.06, also based-on GB, was rather flakey for for me. Many FCs on certain Apps.
I run Marvel 9 and it's absolutely solid. No complaints. I also played with Zeus 6.4 and found it to be a great performer and stable.

Tnx a lot dude. Gonna check ou these!
Hi,
I have a LG Optimus Black P970 with Android 4.0.4 and I want to try a new ROM. (my phone started to have lag)
Please recommend me a stable ROM that will have no bugs.
Thanks !
That's hard to say...I believe that every rom has its own failures. Even stock roms do.
I've been using for the past 3/4 weeks the latest nightly of CM10 (01/01/2013) + Mackay kernel 3.2 for CM10 + LG camera ported for CM10. So far, I don't have complaints.
With this, I have gps and camera fully working.
