All I want to know is how NFC works with the HTC One. I remember everyone *****ing apple was so bad they cant add it in with an aluminum body. So how can the HTC One do it and not the iPhone 5?
Re: [Off-Topic] How does the HTC one work nfc with aluminum
As far as I know there is no reason why NFC shouldn't work with an aluminium body, apple just dont want people to use NFC so blatantly lie to everyone.

Is this look to you like HTC section?????

Does this look like a please-ask-questions-about-other-devices kind of forum?

Re: [Off-Topic] How does the HTC one work nfc with aluminum
I remember putting an aluminum battery door on my galaxy nexus and that stopped the NFC working.
I assume the bands on the back of the One allow NFC to work.

Maybe its integrated in the plastic part

Apple wanted to save nfc for the iphone 5s, it's the same reason iphone 5 didn't get a camera upgrade, if apple all the sudden put everything they got into the next iphone they won't have anything new to put into the iphone after the next iphone. Every phone manufacture can make there phones much nicer but they are scared they won't have anything new for the phone that comes after it.
There isa plastic circle around the camera that comes down from the plastic strip at the top. That is where the NFC is.

what kind of case is that? i need one where i have access to the screen and buttons not a waterproof one
Looking for one also :-\
There's no Defender for the HD2, and the commuter's hard plastic outer part breaks so easy.... I was getting new ones every three months.. I think Otterbox failed with that cover.

My bro just ordered one brand new from some website and it came today...to our suprise there were bi headphones included...the only other two smartphones ever in our house came wig some sort of stock headphones so we assumed the vivid would come with something...it'd really not a big deal cause he has a pair already but I was just kinda shocked...wondering if maybe they didn't get boxed or something

This one depends on your carrier. I believe they are packaged differently between carriers. My rogers raider came with earbuds ( a lot better than Samsung's too)
Sent from my HTC-X710a using xda app-developers app
Yeah my Bell HTC Raider 4G LTE also came with headphones (earbuds). They are just your typical headphones but with mic, a fast forward button, pause and "phone" button, and rewind button.
My vivid didn't, but the place I bought it from gave me a car charger, a belt pouch, a pouch case with no belt clip for putting the phone in your pocket, and a bunch of screen protectors.
So far I have had it for twelve hours and that's usually how long it takes me to decide if I want to keep a phone. The vivid is the most under marketed device ever, and I almost didn't know about it at all but saw one next to the Samsung galaxy s2 both for free with upgrade and I googled the specs on my old phone and saw that the vivid has a better display, better resolution, and beats audio. It's basically a dual core version of the one x but better in my opinion because it feels much more sturdy.

Easy for me.. Sprint doesn't offer the N4. NO use even looking at it...
If i would like to get the best for my money (and i´am ok with max 16gb storage and no lte): N4
If i would like to get the best: htc one
Nexus 4? You're trying to tell me that is hard for you to pick between the super sexy, super sleek, top of the line, aluminum body, specs to die for from the HTC one and the boring design, fragile glass back, boring UI, made by LG nexus 4? Yea, no contest.

But you should also consider the price...

The fact you are even posting on xda shows you have more interest in cell phone tech than the average joe. Therefore HTC One. There is no contest between this and N4.
Posting this in the One section is obviously going to get you a biased answer...
M.
I have the nexus 4, development is ok.
But the htc one has WAY more features. Boom sound, better camera.
Oh man... another useless thread started !!!

I would go for the HTC One
There are several reasons why I would get the One over the Nexus 4. The main reason is, that I've always been a fan of HTC phones and build quality. I've also not been a fan of LG. I currently have a One XL and it is awesome. The N4 is better for developers but its going to be more and more behind as far as specs go.
I think for other people the main deciding factor should be interface. With my One X I can choose Sense roms and AOSP roms. With the N4 you're pretty much stuck with AOSP roms.
A friendly advice is post this thread on the General section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=256
Obviously you're posting on the HTC One forum. Why would an aspiring owner of HTC One let his dream device down over any other device?
*Except for the trolls here who got no life and just come in the HTC One section just to say how they dislike the device*
This phone does seem amazing but again it's going to be crippled by delays in updates so that's why I picked the nexus. The 2gb ram, 720p screen and quad core is more than enough, for me at least

I think everyone knows that nothing beats nexus devices when updates are to be compared. But there are some people like myself who rather prefer usability and unique features than updates. I myself am satisfied already with ICS. The sole reason why I decided to get this and ditch my phone is that my phone doesn't officially support ICS and unless I see very significant changes I won't upgrade.
I have a nexus 4 and really want the HTC One. Only reason I'd miss the nexus is the updates.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
One smashes n4. Aside from that, as stated before, with HTC device you can run sense ROMs or AOSP ROMs. More choice. Also, Google makes a point to make sure nexus devices are not top-spec, officially. They do this cuz it's a development device. What good is it to develop on a device that only 10% android users have the specs to support? Also, I checked out n4 cuz all reviews said it felt Luke a million bucks in your hand. I thought, it felt like junk, personally.
From my Evo LTE, yup.
M7 no contest. I'd take a Note II, GS3, Lumia 920, or HTC HOX+ before I went back to the N4.
Monetarily the N4 is great for the no-contract price. In no other way would I pick the N4 as my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38664009&postcount=9 (my opinion)
Who cares about prompt updates anymore anyways. Are prompt updates that important anymore? This is xda. We can have any update or Rom.

i think it all comes down to price.....
if you got double the cost of the nexus 4 then get the htc one of course....
M7 no question.

All comes down to price 349 usd vs 650 usd. P.s if you post this in n4 section everyone will say n4, if you post this in HTC one forum everyone will say HTC one. If you have enough for the HTC one go for it i've tested the nexus 4 it has washed out screen, bad camera , and very fragile BUT.... for the price the nexus 4 is a very good phone
I'm really considering switching over to the nexus. I have the HTC one s right now but feel like the nexus would be better. I've done some research but still on the fence. What phone do you guys think is better?

If you are talking about the Nexus 4 of course that's a very good plan. Go for it its a very good device. And fact that has 2 gigs of ram makes the device really fast

It all comes down to what you need your device to do. The Nexus is great if you are a developers or are looking at getting into developing. The HTC is great for ease of use.
Had many htc .HTC raider and the one s and the one x .I always flashed ROMs to get it to look like the original os .hardware sucks with HTC.the screens and the speakers . many fall apart as soon as you take the housing off . I hated amoled screen to.love my nexus and if hasn't had any hardware problems .only a rattle by the camera but thats normal.its so fluid and with zero gap screen it feels like you are touching the pixels on the screen.
Go nexus dude . your HTC will break soon

Wrong thread
like some PPL wrote before IT depends what will you use it for call browsing normal usage take one, on the other hand if you want to pimp your phone take n4( dozens of rly awesome devs and ofc its in a 1st row when it comes to updates. Choice is yours
I'd say flash cyanogenmod on your HTC one s and it will "basicly" be the same as a nexus 4. The One S is not that old..

how stupid am i for trading my htc one for the nexus 4. there was nothing wrong with the htc but as of late i have enjoyed experimenting with different phones.
i just watched this review and it really made me miss my baby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5zKOwrzZUA
nothing i can do now i guess i just hope this phone stays relevant....DONT TRADE YOUR HTC
I am sorry to hear that, mate. There's nothing wrong trying different devices, but I'd never trade up my HTC One. It took me days of research and I realized that the One is the best device for me.

Interesting that the reviewer has the sane camera focus problem that is been discussed in three or four threads here...
Man thats foolish, on the other hand if it would be the other way around you would have been so glad you traded your nexus 4 for a htc one. i know i would be.
I traded mine for a S4. That lasted 1 week and I traded back for a other One. I've had a lot of different phones to test and none have that feel like my HTC.
The S4 was nice but Touchwiz is not a well coded interface. Camera is over rated on the S4 and was my main reason for trading. It's not that much of an improvement over the Note 2 sensor.

Just got a new HTC One last night after selling my BB Z10 after a couple weeks (the BB really was nice but it has major issues with Contacts management & sync w/Gmail-Google Apps).
Anyway loving this One but I'm keeping my Note 2 because it's a fantastic phone as well; I have a cheap secondary tablet plan on a separate SIM so the Note 2 is now more like a mini-tablet.
While setting up the One today I ran thru all the test for defective sensors etc, and happily everything works. Once I scraped off the excess glue and other rough edges, the thing is now perfect
Not a recommend trade IMO.

The Nexus 4 is a great device, but I hope you got some cash on top of it for your One. To be completely honest, I really love the HTC One, but I missed the Nexus 4 so much that I just bought a white one with a white bumper and a wireless charging orb. You are only dumb to have done this if you didn't get any cash on top bro.
