I posted a question yesterday about my android Market not working. I tried every possible thing but I cant get it to work.
So now i'm thinking to install apk files manually through droid explorer. I was able to install some apps by download the apk from internet and using batch installer in droid explorer. But I cant install Flash Player and Asphalt 5. It shows Failure - Invalid APK.
My SGS is from 3 UK and i'm using it in India after unlocking it.

Not working
I had a SGS (Official unlocked Indian version) in Nov 2010 and it had stock 2.1 . Everything used to work properly on it.
But why is this SGS having problems ? Is it that the v2.2 has bugs ? Or is it because i'm using an 3 UK unlocked phone, as it has 3 branding ?
Can I flash the phone with an official Indian(or any other clean) ROM ? Can it solve these Market and invalid Bugs ? Because the hardware platform is same on both, I suppose !
SGS Tools market fix try .

Can you download Asphalt 5 from Samsung Apps which is installed by default?
else you can flash a JVK ROM (2.3.3) or JS8 ROM (2.2.1 stable) if you dont have many apps? I used these ROMS and its working fine. I live in India too.

Do u have an Indian version ? Is it possible that the hardware is different ? Or maybe the market sends info about the phone by giving IMEI, etc. and then it may be blocking my access as i have unlocked the phone ?
Where can I download the *stock* JS8 firmware and also get it's instructions, as I have never flashed a firmware manually before.

Where can I find the detailed instuctions ? Is darkys rom a custom rom or ... ?? Sorry don't have much idea about firmware and/or rom. I mean how are they related and what is the version compatibilty required among them ? I am new to the firmware flashing scene so I would be glad if you all can help me !! Cheers !!!

Unzip the js8 firmware you downloaded. You will see that there are three files pda file modem file and csc file.
If u bave the 502.pit file included use that or download the 502.pit file from samfirmware. Now open odin and then in the pit select 502.pit file. In the pda selct the pda file which you got after unzipping the js8 firmware. In the phone select the modem file and in csc select the csc file. Select repartition in odin.
Now put ur fon in download mode and wen it goes intk download connct it to the pc. Remebr to open odin on pc before you conect the phone. After you have connected the fon u will find lines appering in odin stating that the phone has been detected. After that press start and then wait for your phone to flash!

In the zip file there was one tar file : NEE.tar
When I extracted the tar file I got 5 files :

Which three files should I select in ODIN ??
Someday plz help
Someday plz help
Should I start the flashing process ?
I'm afraid i'll brick the phone !
Somebody plz verify which files should I select ?
Should I do a hard factory reset ? Will it lock the phone again ?
Or a soft factory data reset is ok ?
Do i have to debrand the phone first ? Like through the kies registry patch ? I has 3 UK branding.
Current software config is :
PDA : I9000NEJP5
PHONE :I9000NEJP2
CSC : I9000HCGJP5
Build Info : 2010. 11
I downloaded the I9000XWJS8 firmware from samfirmwares.com and it has the following files :
cache.rfs
factoryfs.rfs
modem.bin
param.lfs
zImage
Which of these are the PDA, Phone and Modem files ??
You downloaded a single file XWJS8
YES
What the f8888 you are doing extracting the files for .
Think you need to read all the FAQs before you do anything at all .Your last post does not make much sense . Read and learn and start at the beginning not the middle .

Also you can read he has clearly mentioned that there will be three files in my download. So I was a bit confused.
So should I select the NEE.tar as PDA file and check repartition and just hit the flash button ??

Yeah dats perfect. You can go ahead with the flash. Open odin put the pda gile in pada csc file in csc and in thw phone put the modem file.select 512 as the pit file. Select repartition to avoid issues. And then put ur fone in download mode and flash. Remember to open odin on pc before you connect the phone to the pc. Phone should be jn download mode. Hope you flash this time.

Seems like my SGS doesn't support recovery & download modes.
I first held volume UP + Home button. Then while pressing them I also pressed the power button. The phone runs in SGS logo boot loop if i keep them pressed. I searched on forums, i found that we have release the power button as soon as SGS logo shows up. I did so and the phone boots up normally. Is my method wrong or the recovery & download modes could be really locked ?
Should I attempt that bootloader fix for enabling these 2 modes ? How safe is that ?
I installed the Gingerbread update off samfirmware on my samsung galaxy s but i would like to go back to the official firmware for vodafone UK so i can just continue updating through Kies, is it possible and if so how??
Sorry if this is in the wrong place but i have been searching the net for ages and i can't find anything and all i keep seeing is this site so i thought you guys might be able to help me.
Reinstall the original firmware you saved .
Another one that did not save then you might find somebody with firmware saved .
Or you flash stock rom via Odin use registry spoof method to try to update to Vodaphone current firmware .
Kies only updates original firmware .

It is quite simple. Disable any lagfix or ext4 conversion (if any) back to RFS. Flash via ODIN with preferably 512 pit & repartition (it will save you a lot of time & less opportunity of errors appearing afterwards). I would also suggest you to make a backup of your data & do a factory reset before flashing back.....
On youtube are many tutorials how to flash back to your stock rom.
example:
search: samsung galaxy s flash stock rom
-> the first video
stock roms you can download in this forum
I do not have the original VodaFone Firmware, That's why i need to change this current firmware so i can update it via Kies to the original Vodafone uk firmware, i do not know nothing about lag fixes or anything, i just used odin to update my phone to V2.3.3, i followed simple instructions to do it, it was my first time doing anything to my phone, i know i should of read into it etc....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
Basic faqs .
Roll back to 2.2.1 from Beta 2.3 Gingerbread .
Post 2 but you are as always at risk of bricking your phone .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033781
Kies will only update stock 2.2 .1 to Vodafone firmware if you spoof the registry as posted .It will not update to Gingerbread until Gingerbread is released .
jje
I'm not very good at these things and i know i shouldn't of done it in the first place but i don't understand those instructions, is there no way anyone has it or can get it for me? or extract it from there phone or something like that?
No nobody seems to bother keeping original firmware >Try a Google search for Voda firmware .
Flash back to stock Eclair 2.1 and try below to spoof Kies.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/spooffw/com.johnan.spooffw
That fails then your update path is via Odin .
jje
Hi, thanks alot for your time to reply to me, i have currently rooted and i have SpoofFW but when it says choose preset i dont have any in the drop down box and i need a Vodafone uk one, any help here mate?
I have posted the codes you should use in SpoofFw thread, but here you go again.
The codes can be found in the presets as UK (Vodafone) and is
Product Code: GT-I9000HKDVOD
PDA: I9000BUJG2
CSC: I9000VODVOD
Phone: I9000BUJG1
An alternative is to use Check Fus Downloader with which you can download the latest official firmware for UK Vod (I9000BUJS3) and flash that file with Odin. The app can be found in my signature.
Hi, thanks alot mate, can you please guide me through how to do it as when i try and find the preset on your app, there is none there! just blank, so i tried typing it all in and following instructions but it hasn't worked could you please explain?
It still says... This device cannot be updated and still gives me my normal product code etc...

make sure you are connected to internet when you start the app, and try use Refresh preset in the menu. also make sure you have busybox installed.
first hit Backup. put the info above in the fields. and hit step 2 ok. Then press reboot, and start the app again. put the same info as before in the fields and hit ok on step 3. Conenct to Kies.
you can send me your complete log right after hitting step1 button if anything goes wrong.
Hi all, I have messed up my Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 (Aus-Optus-CDMA) trying to flash. I managed to get it going on the following FROYO.XXJME Version 2.2 Kernel 2.6.32.9 rootatSEI-28 #1
Unfortunately I did not do a full backup!
My problem is now,
1/ No imei shown
2/ No serial number shown
3/ Not recognize my sim card
4/ Tab reboots regularly
Have done the factory reset however I am not sure if due to my flashing is it the original rom?
I have the imei written but cannot get the Tab to find it, thus cannot connect to Kies to get the samsung updates which would fix things, "I think".
Can anyone help
Thanks

Did you flash with ODIN?
Did you get an error message?
Have you tried re-flashing to a stock ROM?
You should read through the following thread before flashing anything else
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071&highlight=no+imei+after+flash
And you are correct in assuming that a factory reset would only re flash the ROM you "replaced" your stock ROM with.
Also remember that using the SEARCH button usually will get you a lot more answers than just waiting on a reply here.
Did you unlock the tab first, no network lock, no sim lock... If you didn't this may explain whats happened. Don't know how you're gonna fix though....
Your Gtab is also NOT a CDMA tab, its GSM as you use a sim card... You may have bricked it if you flashed a CDMA rom.... Lucky if it starts up at all...
You need to tell us more info, what rom you flashed, how you flashed it - ODIN, Heimdall , Kies or just by pure magic. Then you might get more help....
the /efs folder contains all information/numbers about your gt including IME, mac address, bluetooth,etc.. It may have been deleted yet there should be a bak file inside the folder. since you are able to boot as you mentioned then you can still go into download mode and reflash a ROM?
Hi "theREDlegion" & thanks for your time.
Yes I did flash with Odin.
I got a red FAIL in Odin & an error message, trying to remember what it said exactly.
I am not sure which is the correct ROM to use for me here in Australia, CSC file & Pit etc, I'm kinda new to this stuff.......as you guessed!
I rooted the Tab with z4root, then used the repair nv_data to unlock the network which was succesful, so it said by entering the code.
So will the "Gingerbread" ROM work on my Tab?
I tried P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJPZ_HOME.tar which failed.
Thanks again.
Hi ultramag69, appreciate your help.
I was installing a game when my Tab froze. No matter what I did I could not get it to respond. This is why I thought lets try & install Gingerbread. I managed to get it connected to the PC, however I am not sure if I did as you said "sim unlock". I did the network unlock. My Tab runs okay now but will loop boot when idol for 30 sec. I still whish to do Gingerbread if it is possible, or "overcome"
Thanks again.
Hi bongski55, thanks for your assisstance.
I have the backup of the efs & the files in it are dated 27/10/2010 which would indicate they are the originals. I have replaced the new efs files with these but still no change.
Not sure which file is the imei info though.
Here is my plan,
1/ Do factory reset - this will allow me to reroot
2/ Root the Tab & unlock network, learn how to unlock sim?
3/ Remove SD & SIM cards.
4/ Use Odin to flash with Gingerbread, I think I have the right ROM!
Wot u think!!!!!!!!!
Is your bootloader safe? Do you know what your original firmware version was ?
edit for my english: is "was" at the good place in the second sentence?
You've tried chainfire's safe rom, have you checked out the overcome thread, there's a safe rom you can install through ODIN there too... Might work. Also, do a search for Telstra rom, might take back to stock Froyo but with all the Telstra bloatware, I started on this.
After you take back to Froyo stock you can try again for GB. Can't say if this will work though as you have an Optus tab, mine was Telstra from the start...
Good luck...
Without restoring the efs folder CORRECTLY. All your efforts are futile. Follow this thread to restore /efs folder: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859914. Reboot your phone, Charge it and try flashing a stock ROM.
Some very helpful information has been posted here, thanks to the very helpful members of xda.
If I was in your shoes I would do the following:
1) Follow the link provided by DarkPal in post 10, complete the steps necessary to restore the efs folder.
2) Follow the link I provided in post 2 and confirm your bootloaders and take necessary actions to patch if necessary.
3) Your device (on Optus) should be WCDMA/GSM. I would go over the OVERCOME thread and follow instructions on flashing a stock safe rom and attempt to flash the OVERCOME rom. It is important to follow the instructions step by step for a successful flash. The OVERCOME guide is very detailed, if you follow it correctly you should not have any issues with the flash.
Do post back your results and good luck.

Thanks for your help so far,
I have been able to find the backup of my efs/ which was created during unlock process.
Thank god.........I have now done this, patched bootloader.
1/ Used Overcome safe rom & flashed
2/ Flashed to Overcome "Jupiter" v3.3.0 & changed file system to ext4
3/ restored efs/
4/ My imei is now back to original....Yippee....also is my serial number.
Now when I boot it gives me full bars of service & Yes Optus on the screen..Great!
But I still canNOT connect. My Wifi works fine.
I notice my IMEI SV is now 05 but was originally 01.
I am not sure how to see what csc I have & don't know if it matters?
Any suggestions....
Cheers
Google "optus apn settings" and check yours (settings, wireless network, apn).
Check if wireless mode is auto.
What is your baseband (modem version)?
Because you see optus on your screen, your voice service is fine, but no data connection means your apn values are incorrect or missing.

Good morning all, well I would like to thank everyone on this forum, particularly those who have promptly responded to my questions.
I am glad to say that after 3 days of stress I have finally got my Galaxy Tab back on the Optus Australia internet service, I had to change the APN from Optus (Internet) to Optus (connectcap) in the Access Point Names & also at the bottom of those settings I had to select Internet. The connectcap option is not there by default, you have to add a new APN & choose these settings. My sim card is a data plan only.
So I now have my Tab running Overcome Jupiter, thanks guys, love your work, on the ext4 file system and already it is noticably faster.
Now......probably a good time to do a proper backup......yep I'm learning!
So thanks again everyone.
Hi, guys! I have Samsung Galaxy S 3 LTE GT-i9305, without IMEI and baseband version...
I rooted my SGS 3 with ODIN but made a mistake.
First attempt - I have chosen partition "PHONE" instead of "PDA" in ODIN and flashed it...With CWM recovery file. This way I killed my modem baseband and lost IMEI...And now SGS 3 can not find any GSM network...(((
Second attempt - I have rooted it succesfully ( have chosen the right part i"PDA")
Now SGS 3 is working only as a PAD ( WiFi and Bluetooth are working) but no GSM network can be found.
Tried to flash it with full firmware(including modem rom and kernel) via ODIN. Everything finished succesfully. But when the phone is turned on after flashing - again NO IMEI, no BASEBAND Version...
Can somebody help me, please?
VERY APPRECIATED for ANY ADVISES and IDEAS

The solution is at the bottom of the first post. You need to download and flash the PARAM binary to your device and all will be well.

Hi lyriquidperfection . Your imei thread seriously need to be a sticky in "Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A" .
No IMEI

I also lost imei and modem on my 1 day old 9305 by flashing cwm for i9300 and hadn't backed up the imei.
I followed lyriquidperfections link and downloaded the software to my laptop.
When I ran the software it backed up the imei from somewhere on the phone I then ran restore and Param steps and all was restored succesfully. Phew what a relief that was!!!!
I then reflashed correct cwm and rom of choice and all was well.
Just follow the instructions on the page.
Thanks Lyriquidperfection.
I have same problem, tried the procedure on page 1. No luck! Sent back to service with counter reset, still waiting for collection.

I have the exact same problem. Do you have a flashable PARAM binary for the i747??
Thank you!

Hi i am thinking of trying another rom out on my galaxy s GTi9000 .I am on pay as you go.last time i installed a new rom my phone automatically switched package data on and by the time i had set up my phone it had eaten some of my credit .Whats the best way to stop it from doing this..Can i just flash a new rom without installing my sim card and external sdcard ? I am guessing that by not having my sim installed it cannot charge me and i should be able to disable the package data setting before re installing my sim then add the sim back once set up.Is this correct.Thanks.
Yes i think so just flash rom without sim inside and then after the whole intro put your sim in.

Have always Installed Rom with Sim Inserted
Maybe down to APN Settings (always check to make sure they are configured properly for your Sim)
As well as Data Roaming option
If Pay as you go : use WiFi to save Data when ever you can

I never use my package data only wifi but when i installed a rom it switched package data on ..so i need to make sure it is off .I am thinking of installing your SAUROM GB JW9 v2 BLUE THEME version to try .I have tried xbean but had issues with media using 73% of my battery and draining it too quickly and getting really hot (apparently loads have had trouble with media when on jell bean etc ..back to stock rom on phone and it is now fine again.Have there been any issues on your rom ? i like to have loads of music files stored on my external sd card 32gb .
Just uploaded the JWB which is better in my opinion
Any issues if you have problems with the Rom let me know and just install as Stock Theme :victory:
No issues as of yet and try to fix as soon as possible
There is tweaks included and get Advanced Task manager which helps battery along with Power Schedle Basic
Both of these are very good tools.

Just follow my Guide on my signature to set it up ... word by word.
Basically Remove Samsung Kies all together on your PC if you have it (depending on what you need)
Reboot Computer
Install Samsung USB drivers
Reboot...and then open ODIN
Tick Re-Partition and put in PIT File then Follow Guide :good:
As long as its an i9000 your good to go!
If your Battery goes down fast or signal strength low just change the modem , will explain that when it happens

Thank you i understand now lol..Just out of curiosity if i was already rooted and had a different rom installed would i need to flash 2.3.6 again or would i not need to ?Thank you.
Yes starting to Flash any New Rom 2.3.6 needs to be flashed first then rooted to give you that Clean bug free Start point for installing any new Rom.
Then you need to Root it .
Doesnt matter if you allready Rooted with a JB or CM or the latest new GB rom still have to do it to be safe
Then follow guide

Have you checked Enable Debugging to connect to PC in Development?
Also did you install USB Drivers correctly
Is it ok when you dial a call?
Error when incoming call?
Using Root Explorer or other app Copy and Replace this File in to System / App Folder and then Reboot Phone
Phone.apk HERE
Lets me know if this is the cause of the Problem

Thanks.
Try the file I gave which is the Original Phone.apk to see if its a problem with that file.
Also check your APN settings to make sure they are correct in Mobile networks
