I have one issue with my XZ. Sometimes, when I launch camera app, I have an error: Camera is unavailable. Whan can I do?

No one have the same issue - which means yours might be a faulty unit and the camera module fails to activate at times.
Suggest you bring it into the nearest Sony service center for a check.

Can happen if the camera doesn't get released after prior use.
Do you use any other app to take pictures? Directly from FB app? Different camera app?
If nothing holds true you may "repair" your phone by completely reflashing it using Sony PC Companion software.

It happen when camera is doesn't use for a while. I don't know. How often we use camera? When I need to take a photo, Im opening camera app, and I take an error. Then I turn off my phone, turn it on back, and camera works again. I take a few photos, click back button (back arrow), and if I want to take photo in future, I can't.
Bootloader is unlocked, so bring phone to Sony is rather poor idea. Maybe new firmawe, flashed by flashtool will solve my issue?
Have you tried deleting data of the camera app?

It happens with the stock camera app only? Can you try with a third party camera app?

All camera apps not working.
- Neo Reader: black screen:

Try flashing a rom or reflashing the fw back to stock... If that dont work, you may have to take it back to Sony
Are you rooted? Did you delete any system files??
All you can do is repair your phone with pc companion,if nothing changed than to service.

Ok, so I will flash tomorow new FTF file, but now I have orginal Russian FTF firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167096) I will try French or UK. Earlier I had polish branded firmware, but I had a bootloop so I had to flash russian FTF. Maybe it's the problem?
Tell me, if it will not resolve of my problem, I will relock bootloader, and Sony will recognize the guarantee? Can I unlock bootloader after?

I could not even get to the camera setting where supposedly I can force to upgrade the fw of camera?

I have same trouble...need help....
I would like to suggest u to go for either one of the solution u like ->
1.try using a third party camera app like miui camera etc

2.try using another roms

1. I have already try another application, but still doesn't work,
2. I have already flash Firmware, custom rom still doesnt work.
3. change SD Card, format, doesn't work,
Until now...I think the must go to Samsung customer service....

Hello guys, i just receieved my phone, it is a GT-I9220_xx_EUR.
It came with 2.3.5(KH2, i think it was a test version). I flashed stock XXLC1 with odin, but after this update the camera doesn't work anymore.I get a camera error, and it closes.
If i try with 3rd party app, like 360camera, i can take pictures.
how can i solve this?

Did you try a factory reset? It may do the trick!
Not just one,it didn't do the trick.
I even downgraded to 2.3.5, no luck.
i found out my note it's a test version(that's why it came with 2.3.5 KH2- i never heard of this fw). i will look upon my sources, maybe i'll find the original software.

Another strange issue,on service mode camera works just fine.When i try to use the camera.apk, the screen gets black and unresponsive....
360camera works great,but i can't record videos.any other camera app, that acces directly the apk gets the same result...freezing screen..

did you unlock/root/flash your phone? if not you might want to try and restore the software via PCC! and also what is you firmware version?

I have a Xperia SP C5303 with the final .254 last update.
I've rooted my phone with vroot since it's the easiest and safe way for me to root it.
i didn't flash my phone, didn't unlocked my bootloader either.
i have so many apps and things in my phone, reset is not a option, there's isn't a solution for that problem?
*When the camera is in landscape mode its normal, the gray bar only apears when i'm in portrait mode, i mean, in vertical mode.

1. reset camera app data
if that fails
2. reset software to factory setting
You used vroot? vroot is not declared as safe yet! my friend used it on his huawei and it started having problems too you might wanna restore your phone and use doomlords root
first try changing the resolution(from 8MP to 5MP etc)
if that doesnt work try using another camera app to see if the problem is still there

doesn't work changing the resolution...
it doesn't affect other apps, only the native camera app.
i've tried to root trough doomlords root tool, but it asks to unlock my bootloader with i don't want to do it.
i don't have any idea of how to lock the bootloader again if i need the rma from sony.
im hopeless, have to use the camera only in horizontal mode.
PS: Is there a way to root with doomlord kit without unlocking the bootloader? don't wanna change(or mess) my kernel, it may bug my entire system since it's a brazillian firmware.

you can just use any other camera app
anyways if you decide to root and unlock your bootloader make sure you backup you TA partition!(the are guides you will need to follow first you will find them in sp's forum)

nahh, i'll keep the vroot, the phone is runnig good, battery life is very good and i can always download a new camera app and deactivate the native app.

Hi, i have seen many forums regarding this error, so I will post what i have tried already. Problem only on rear camera.
I did clean cache and restarted.
Reinstalled camera app/other camera apps from the store.
Started in safe mode.
Ran xperia diagnostics/service test. Camera didnt start.
As far as i can remember it happened shortly after installing avatar rom. I kept getting constant crashes so i decided to flash stock again, everything works fine but the camera.
Right now i am on 4.4.4, with the "C6602_10.5.1.A.0.283_Customized_US" firmware. Rooted using towelroot, but the problem existed before and remains after rooting.
I have been uninstalling/disabling some sistem apps through Titanium Backup , so I would say i mistakenly deleted some important system app. Can anyone share the process/apps needed to use camera? so i cant install all of them again.
Can it be the firmware? should i try a different one? I would like to fix it without having to wipe, but if it must be I will just restart from scratch.

Try with clean install. Repair it via PC Companion or reflash it via Flashtool. If still doesn't work it's probably hw problem.

One other thing, i cant use pc companion repair because it says my software is modified, if i relock bootloader can i use it?

Yes, you can use it with locked bl, but you don't need to do that, find .ftf ROM for your region and model or any other you like and do a clean flash via Flashtool, if still not working it's hw issue, you need new camera module.

i just reflashed 2 different roms for my phone and version. Relocked and repaired via pc companion. And nothing worked, i assume its hw damage then.
Does it happen when the phone suffers a hit? or is there another explanation?. Cant figure out how it happened.

I met the same problem
After revive my C6833, the camera can't work. Firstly，the front camera is OK，but not a long time, it also can't work.
After I flashed other rom using flashtool, two camera both can not work.
when I use camera , phone shows "unfortunately, the camera stopped"

enter service test
camera CAMERA NOT CONNECTED
Secondary camera THIS DEVICE DOES NOT SUPPORT THE FUNCTION
Then, I reflash it by S1tool, the things repeat again.

Have you tried reflashing Stock ROM with full wipe? if yes, then only option is contacting nearest Authorised Service Centre.

Instead of going straight to the Service Centre, try swapping the back camera first.
