Honestly pictures are quite nice in my opinion, anyway Krabappel has made a little mod in his ROM and the quality is higher
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175903
Maybe he could post a file or something to apply this settings in other ROMs, but it's up to him...
hope someone would make this mod too, usually in some phones the mod is just a modded camera.apk in others was a modded xml... i hope someone could make a rom-independent mod, cause i'm fine with rooted stock rom
I take it that you don't like soft images? Anyway, we know the potential of Sony rs sensor, we just need Sony to tweak the camera to match the sensor potential.

Sony never released updates for their Smartphone cameras, sorry to destroy your hopes but it's less likely that they will do it this time.

Hello Boys and girls.
Yesterday i found a method to improve the quality.
I hope it works.
I feel it just a little bit improvment.
What do you need:
Xperia Phone (I think it works also for other models)
root access
a file manager with root function
How to do:
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ROM WITH RECOVERY
looking for the file "media_profiles.xml" in the folder "/system/etc"
make a backup of it
open with a text editor
looking for the code
Code:
<ImageEncoding quality="90"/>
<ImageEncoding quality="80"/>
<ImageEncoding quality="60"/>
<imageDecoding memCap="20000000"/>
change all three values of "ImageEncoding qulity" to "100"
and change the value of "imageDecoding memCap" to "80000000"
Please be carefuly
I'am not responsible for any bricks
Hope you will fell the difference
Sorry for bad english
Nope sorry but it doesn't change anything.
ImageEncoding set to 100
ImageEncoding set to 10

To me it changes: the 100 pic is a bit darker with richer colours, same effect that was found in the Rom i pointed out before...
Shooting pics in burst mode noticeable improves picture quality. Give it a shot

Strange but I can capture videos without any problems.
This completely crashed my phone I tried to record a video and a warning message came up saying it was overheating so shutting down. Then when i powered it up it crashed as soon as it got to the home screen. Tried to get it back to CWM and crashed on that screen and powered itself down then wouldn't boot again! Charged it all last night, tried pressing Power and Vol+ etc Nothing... completely dead, only a charging LED light. Luckily took it back to Carphone Warehouse and they swapped it with another Great service! So yeah... not sure why mine was different/what went wrong etc. It was a locked bootloader but rooted with CWM.

My first outing with my Xperia T.
I tried to upset the camera and find the limits of its performance. Closest I got was this:

There was some lens flare (check middle of the pic near the bottom) but my DSLR wouldn't have done any better!
Tried a shot with fine detail:

And another using my HDR+ app to see how that performed:

^amazing camera , i dont why reviewers say its underpowerd

Can someone maybe upload some video's? I'm interested in this phone and the Xperia V I'm a developer like some of you know.
I'd like to have them:
- recorded in 1080p of course
- 1 in sunlight, 1 in rainy/cloudy weather, 1 in the evening/lower light and 1 shot in the dark/night.
- Please don't upload them on YouTube because there will be quality loss, just upload to mediafire
If someone can give me some video's it would be nice

ZR is my dream phone well the Z is but due to so many hardware issuses and bad design I want to go with the ZR
But can the camera match my previous i9100 S2?
My S2 was incredible at taking photos especially at night. No noise at all.
The Samsung used SONY camera module till S3 Galaxy. The ZR takes incredible pictures once you do the settings right and for critical pictures use HDR Cam+ or other utilities like I do.
ZR gets better photo than GNexus. The camera sound effects can't mute by sound settings, I can't take photo of my sleeping kid with this. It's good camera among phones.

I keep reading on review websites that the Z and ZR camera is horrible its really really bad
But some people are saying thats cause those guys are morons and don't enable HDR
can anyone confirm how the Z and ZR camera matches other phone cameras?

the S2 i9100 is significantly better sharper and less noise than the Z and ZR
the Z does look better than the ZR
how the heck a old phone like the i9100 S2 can have such a better camera? how is that even possible?
it's sony's post-processing and crap compression that screws up a great camera... it's the software :/
so can this be fixed using HDR?
what about rooting and flashing custom rom etc?

i believe it'll be fixed by next software updates.. as most of the reviews about the Xperia ZR camera was made on the 4.1 ROM ,and we have some positive feedbacks about camera quality and focus-speed enhancement in the new 4.2.2 update
so we need someone who is using the 4.2.2 ROM to confirm it..

Tried it and got nicely colored but kinda blurry pictures.
it is not a Camera bug. if you bother to check the picture quality taken with other Xperia phones you will notice the same thing too. In fact, this extra yellow tinge goes all the way back to Sony Ericsson Cybershot K800, which was the first Cybershot phone I owned. I have no idea whether it is just a coincidence or whether it is inherent in Sony digital camera processing system.

i had K800i and i did not notice anything yellowish in the pictures..... but i think you are pretty much right,
I have a sony xperia Z C6603 and I absolutely hate something about the phone. Before i take pictures it looks great (amazing even) as i take the photo the picture is perfect, then after a second it processes it so much i look more like an alien from outer space than a human being. Not only this but the files are also ridiculously small compare to all other phones. I've downloaded the FV-5 app and it's great, but my photos from my front camera stll lokks like horse s***. i do not want other setting configurations, because nothing fixes it... Has anybody made a fix for this via rooting or whatever? i've searched all over the internet after a solution , but can't seem to find one. One of you geniuses must have a solution, right? (have the 4.3 android version and 10.4.B.0.569 build number).
Not yet. People have tried.many things but.no luck so far. At least Sony finally updated the camera app which was the same since x1 was released

geez.... Yah... my photos did not get better at all, haha. If they could just change the format to JPG or whatever (know that is big files) that would be fantastic, but nooo.... (now referring to sony and not XDA-developers) Great phone, TERRIBLE photo software.

we can see it two ways
the camera hardware sucks and we can't do anything about it
or the camera software sucks and we have to wait for sony to update their binaries and libraries and other stuff. which we also cannot do anything about.

Hello!
I have installed AOKP 4.3 ROM on my Xperia Z. When I need to take a fast picture, I just use auto ISO/Exposure...
When I wanna get better picture in low light, I just use a little bit tweaking In low light, when I'm taking picture of some close object, I just put ISO on 100/200 (max), use flash and that's it! When I'm taking picture a little bit further (3/4 meters), I use 200/400 ISO, and use flash if I can (very big con of our device is bad flash). When I'm doing night portrait, just put ISO on 400 and turn on HDR, photos will look awsome believe me
Tonight I could upload some pictures from my Z, just to give you some clue.
P.S. When you're using front camera, turn on HDR you will get a much better photo quality

Hello dear xda users,
as we know, our xperia Z doesn´t have the best camera. I have it for several months. In my case, it makes worse pictures then mid-range devices I used before it, especially in the indoor daylight conditions. I noticed there are some tips to make it better in manual mode, but still it isn´t a win.
So what do you think, could it be reclaimable? Do you have some experience with it?
Thanks for your opinions.

Some softwares can help you produce better results. However they would not by nay means increase your camera pixels or anything but only help you focus better with better exposure and produce better colours
Like for example if you snap documents from your phone camera, camscanner can do wonders.
There are other applications for taking pictures as well on playstore.
Quote me if you have any other question

If you think your camera is faulty, only then Sony can help you with your warranty. However you can visit a Sony care and discuss your problem with them. They might be able to help.
