i own TMUS hd7 with bootloader 5.12.2250(135240) which i need to downgrade to be able to install a custom rom, i made a Y CABLE and tried using the GOLD CARD METHOD, only thing is, i used a standard usb flash drive (4gb), formatted fat32, but my update wont start, it keeps DISPLAYING LOADING and keeps restarting and shows NOTHING, there is no indication that it has seen the SCHUIMG.NBH FILE on the flash drive, IT JUST KEEP RESTARTING, PLEASE HELP
I'm sorry for this but...
IDIOT!!! you don't properly read or search at all!!!
But now, seriously:
My experience here:
It must be a 1GB flash drive or sd or microsd.
I tried a 2GB and was a disaster! on a T-Mobile with 5.12 bootloader.
YES, you used the goldcard method :good:
but you didn't read the noob guide which is better and clearly says that a 2gb or 1gb are the best choice formatted with FAT, avoid FAT32, that was your mistake.
If you need any help PM, good luck.

Hi guys,
First off I want to say this site is great in what it is doing for the mobile phone world! This is my first post and I am a noob so be gentle haha! Well ok, i've messed up my g1 phone and its almost bricked. I think I have identified two problems:
Problem 1:
I was trying to partition my sd card using a method from a site called theunlockr.com. Where they used the apps2sd software:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_7n1g8jXgY
After performing the procedure, my 2 gig sd card cannot be read on my computer (comes up with "insert disc") and cannot be read on my phone as well. My SD card is completely wiped and I tried formatting it again but it still cannot be read.
Problem 2:
I tried to reboot my phone and now it gets to g1 tmobile screen but no further. To turn the phone off I have to take out the battery.
I can get into the recovery utility using the pwr and home buttons so I do not believe it is bricked, but as my computer cannot read the sd card, I am not able to copy any roms to make any progress.
My question is whether if after buying a new sd card and formatting it, can I simply reflash of my ROM by doing "alt & S" to make it work? The reason why I ask is whether I should simply send it back to TMob and play dumb to get a new phone or buy a new sd card and usb reader.
I am looking at it too simply and there is more to it? E.g have I messed around too much and damaged the file system links etc on my phone. Will a reflash of the cynogen rom using the recovery utility completely reset my phone and get me passed the boot screen loader to the operating system?
I had the following set up on my phone:
Firmware: Cyanogen 4.02
Recovery Image: 1
Recovery Utility build: JF v1.43
Thanks for your input!
Mepow!
Reflashing your phone if you messed up partion it will not work, if you pop out your sdcard and then try to boot it prob will, try a card reader and format and repartion or you can try recovery console and type ums_enable to try to mount your sd card while connect usb to your computer and try to format it that when and when you are done type ums_disable and then type reboot to reboot the phone
thanks tried that in the recovery console but it came up with
"ubs_enable not found". My computer unfortunately does not recognise the sd card.
You gotta type ums_enable not ubs as you said in the last post
right i,m sorry if i,m wasting peoples time with this but its doing my head in. i have been happy flashing hd for the past 4-5 months now with no problems. i was using the method of copying the blacimg.nbh file into the storage card and rebooting etc. everything was fine, till this monday when my 8 gig mem card suddenly stopped working, dont know why just did. i have a 512 meg card that i,m now using till i can get a bigger one. anyway the problem is that i cant seem to flash any roms now, i have installed the olinex 1.56+ programme etc but i cant flash any blacimg.nbh rom files, it just re flashed the one thats running at the moment which is miri rev7.1.......
what am doing wrong, what has my brain forgot , i have read the dummies guide and as far as i was aware i was doing just as i was before my mem card died.......
cheers peeps
chech ur blacimg.nbh..
or dnload the rom again n rename it to flash it..
u may also format the 512 mb card doing a full fat 32 format.
also mem cards are know to give up any time..
Format card and try again. If this doesn't work try alternative flashing method using usb cable & pc.
Post future flashing queries in dummies guide thread
After all of my other problems... HardSPL is finally on correctly and I checked.
I have Kovsimg.nbh on my FAT 32 microSDHC card. I got to bootloader, saw OliNex whatever. It goes to loading. Then "Image not found!"
Had this problem before with official ROMs as well... Had to use SEUS.
What the hell is the problem with this?
My USB port has been unreliable so far, so I dont want to chance using CustomRUU (I dont know how to use it anyway).

Custom RUU is easy. Just leave your phone on and plugged into the USB. Make sure you have the image file renamed to RUU_signed.nbh. Start Custom RUU. Follow the steps in Custom RUU. And Voila! It turns the phone into the Boot Loader automatically and you can watch the progress on your monitor. I use it all the time. I don't like to copy everything off my SD card onto the HDD and I don't have a spare SD card to leave the SD card blank with only the image file.
You don't have to copy everything off your sd card, just put Kovsimg.nbh in the root of your card and everything is good to go.
Copy your .nbh file to the root of your sd card and rename it to Kovsimg.nbh.
Boot phone with holding : vol down + power keys until the color screen appears.
it should find the image now, else use ruu on a friends pc.
remember to active sync first...
regards
I dont have a Kingston card, but maybe I'll try using my Corsair 512mb microSD later today.
My main problem with CustomRUU is that the USB connection to my phone isnt stable. What would happen if it suddenly DC'd?
EDIT: Ahah, so using my Corsair card instead of my A-Data card works.

You have had problems with the USB Connection to your X1 before? Then dont flash via USB / Custom RUU. Thats really too risky then.
It first flashes the Bootsector and a few other things, then begins with the OS parts. If the connection is cancelled while flashing the Bootsector etc. you may get some serious problems as your device wont boot anymore (search for putty btw. if this happens to you).
When there is an Error while the OS is updating you can flash again. I had this once with a non-clear sdcard that the installation did not go over 99%. A reflash with a clear card worked without problems.
hello i am having problems with flashing a custom ROM. I've formatted a micro sd its 2GB. Then I added the ROM file, renamed it to kovsimg.nbh and started the phone as stated (by pressing the vol down button). Then the tri colour screen pops up then a quick screen comes which says no image path I have also... installed the hard spl thingy. Where am I going wrong? Please help !!!all want is reinsstal my xperia x-1 a new windows 6.1 how i can do this plz help my phone is give me this alert SİMCARD NOT İNSERTED'' Plz help me
Do you have press and hold the vol down and the power until the screen show"loading"???
i did bur it says no image ...what i can do?
Says no image??I don't have this problem...so I can't help you,sorry...
Hello you're not alone in the dark
My Xperia do it in the same way. So i hope we will get an answer.
Additional i have problems to use the Internet yet. After receiving a config SMS the applications which are using internetdata didn't get some. The connecting to provider or wifi seem OK but no data for the application.
Provided the card is read, make sure you formatted your card properly with FAT32 and placed renamed ROM file into the ROOT.
It's possible to read the card (after booting the phone). The card is Fat32 fomatted and the imagename is set. But it's not only the problem to flash using the CD-card. Also trying by using the sync-methode will fail. I get the splashscreen with the bar showing the percentage. In the state of 0% i get an error message. No recovery is needed, but i never get the phone flashed.
My problems is exackly the same
If it doesn't work use the USB method, it always works.
Hi VingZTV,
You're wrong please read my post #7 in this thread.
I called it sync method, cause you are using active sync.

I encountered this problem too. My present X1 (3rd already) refused to hardSPL or do anything with both PC (stucked at 0%, connection errors etc) and SD method ("no image file" later stuck at "loading"). Previous ones worked with either SD or PC method
This time I tried different cables and PCs and couldn't hardSPL
nor was the SD card method working, tried different cards and formatted one to fat32 before putting image file
it seems the problem might be on X1's where SPL is stock 0.78 ?
Anyways for me it worked finally when I tried hardSPL with RUU to 0.52olinex ("X1_HardSPL.exe" file) on a different PC and cable with a formatted card inserted where 0.78olinex was renamed to kovsimg.nbh (so ready to flash hardSPL with SD method which didn't work befere). The phone was set to bootloader by the program and then started flashing the image on the SD! (the program reported error as usual)
phone flashed it once, restarted, did it again and was ready!
Then I had no problem to flash a ROM with SD method normally
So I don't know what could be the reason it worked or it was a coincidence maybe try to:
WARNING: AS ALWAYS YOU DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
- insert a freshly formatted card with hardSPL file (0.78olinex perhaps) renamed to kovsimg.nbh
- sync with PC and try to hardspl PC way like above and maybe the phone will finally flash the SPL from the SD
- let us know if it worked
It still doesn't work
I used 128m microSD and formated to FAT32, only copy 0.78RUU_Signed.nbh to SD card, renamed to kovsimg.nbh. After I used VOL- and power bottom. It only showed me loading.....
I also tried 0.72, looks same. DID I do some thing wrong?
Thank you very for any response!

Try the way described above by me (leave the card with the image and use X1_HardSPL.exe to try to change SPL and so force phone to bootloader mode)
Btw i cant boot into windows
only freeze at SE logo
Any solution

HardSPL and reflash
Try the way described in my post above if u have probles
Agreed I also tried already with the same method
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
The AMOLED screen on my Nexus One broke, so, I sent it for repair to a dealer cause there is no official HTC support for Nexus One in India. Before I sent the phone I took a backup of my SD card and also removed it from the phone.
After I got the phone back with the new screen installed, I put in my SD card and it says Blank SD card or unsupported file system. So, I tried different SD card and the same thing popped up with every card I put in. It would ask me to format the card and even if I formatted, it would not mount the SD card. The SD cards work in all other phones and SD card readers.
So, I sent the phone back to the repair guy and he said that its most probably a software bug because if it was a hardware bug then the error message would not pop up at all. He said that it would be best to reflash the ROM but then he tried and the ROM could not be reflashed.
Now the Phone is with me and everything works except for the SD card. Plugging the phone in the computer also doesn't help as the card is not being mounted by the phone at all.
The phone I am using is a Nexus One with stock ROM Android 2.3.4 (never rooted or hacked).
Please help me find a solution to this. I'm even ready to install a custom ROM but can't do so without an SD card.
Please help!!!
Ok well android can't find the SD card but lets see if your bootloader can if not then send it in for repairs again because it's not software. Check my sig there is a link that says passimg try those instructions and tell me what you get.
Hey,
Thank you for the response but most of the instructions require the SD Card. However, in my case as you know the SD Card itself is not functioning. So even if I download the Passimg file, I can't place it on the SD card.
Is there a way to use ADB to wipe the phone completely and then reinstall the original factory stock ROMS?
I did go back to the vendor and asked him to repair the device but after a heated argument he just said that the device's SD card is working but it is not recognizing the cards in it which he said is because of a software bug and for that you need to re-flash the device completely but he didn't have the means to do it, so now I'm left with an unusable phone.
So, in shot can I do the whole reflash thing without the SD card working?
Thank you for responding, you're the only one so far whose come to the rescue. Waiting to hear from you.
Thanks
Hey,
So I just understood the full extent of your recommendation. You wanted me to check if the bootloader detects the Passimg file or not given that booting into Android is not doing that.
As per the instructions on the passimg page I need to download the FRG83 ROM and apply the update. But I'm just wondering if I do this and if the bootloader actually detects the update on the SD card, won't I also need to downgrade the HBOOT version or is it jut safe to apply the downgraded FRG83 over the GRJ22 build that I currently have on the phone?
The details of my phone are as follows:
Nexusone pvt Ship S-ON
HBOOT-0.35.0017
MICROP-0b15
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0103
RADIO-5.08.00.04
Oct 12 2010, 14:33:16
Please guide as per your convenience,
Thank you.
I'm not 100% sure but I'd assume that if you do as what you're planning to do.. the HBOOT should also be flashed automatically with the rom. double check incase!
Hi Again,
So, I took the risk and downloaded the FRG83 ROm loaded it into my SD card using a different phone and then put that card into the SD card slot of the Nexus One.
I went into the boot loaded and it automatically detected the PASSIMG.zip file and asked me whether I want to install the Update - I chose YES.
The update installed successfully and I booted into Android. After finishing the Wizard, I checked the Android Version and it says FRG83 but when I look at the notification bar it still shows me the same error "Blank SD card or has Unsupported File System".
So, we can conclude that the SD card and the SD slot work fine.. Any thoughts on what could be done next?
Well that's weird ok well lets see what the computer says. Put the card back in that other phone and connect it to the computer then on the computer go to computer then right click the card (probably E: maybe F: ) then go to properties and check file system make sure it's FAT32.
Not sure if it's wort posting on this thread still, but lots of people come searching for a solution to this problem so I figured I'd post at least another thing to try.
I've had this happen several time on various Android phones. I've been able to bring the card back every time. I throw the card into my micro usb reader, pop it in my computer, and run disk utility (I don't know what equivalent would be for Windows). You should see your SD card come up and see your main data partition there below it. Click on the partition and click repair in the bottom right.
It will run through some stuff and you'll be able to see if it's found anything in need of repair and if it repaired it.
The few times this has happened to me Disk Utility said it was an empty block at beginning of some data or something...
YMMV

When I had this exact problem, I had to replace the SIM/Micro SD flex board to fix it. They were $15 shipped on eBay at the time.
