[Q] Re-flashing GT-N7000 with Odin3... - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have to tell you that I'm completely new at this, and therefore even more uncertain to start doing the job I think that needs to be done, without having you guys consulted first.
Two weeks earlier, after reading and studying the internet for lots and lots of hours, I decided to flash my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (Netherlands), using the Odin3 (v.1.83) software, with the downloaded German firmware version: N7000XXLSZ_N7000OXALSZ_DBT. And fortunately, to my own big surprise, everything just worked out fine and I’m having Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 installed and running in Dutch.
A few days ago, I read the message on the internet that for the Note GT-N7000, the Dutch firmware version: N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN, finally became available and was now to be downloaded here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ . And so I did…
As I stated before, I am completely new at this and here are some questions I would like you to help me out with:
1. A little voice in my head keeps saying, that I should “re-flash” my Note again to have the right firmware for my smartphone. Although I would very much like that, would you also advise me to do so?
2. If so, would it be just as simple, using Odin3 again, as I did before (so: “just flash”) or am I thinking too simple now? So, whatever the answer, could you please explain me the procedure I should follow to have the Dutch firmware installed – if so advised by you?
3. I am also thinking about rooting my Note. I have seen several instruction videos on the internet, but most of them were explaining about rooting the Note that still had the Android Ice Cream firmware installed. I am not sure if I could “simply follow” that procedure, let alone, if the rooting software the videos are talking about would also work on an Android Jelly Bean smartphone?
4. If Odin3 also is capable of rooting my smartphone, would it be easier for me (being a novice) to use Odin3 as well for this purpose?
5. Would you please be so kind to advise me in this matter as well with the procedure for me to be followed and the software to be downloaded and/or used?
I really hope to hear real soon from you.
Thank you!
Robert.

1. there is not much of a difference between the 2 firmwares apart from a few widgets and lock screen shortcuts ( i think). its up to you if you want.
2. yes same procedure will just do fine for the new firmware too. detailed tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
3. easiest way is using one of these kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191. it will auto root and safe.. procedure requires an SD card. same explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 procedure 1A
4. odin can be used to root but it will cause the counter to raise and yellow triangle at boot... so use the 1A method
5. As explained above

Thank you for your swift reply.
Advising me to use the "1A method", it says:
Installation
1.a Pre installation : (For clean installation, optional)
- Make backup with Titanium Backup or other similiar app.
- First flash GB ROM if you are on any other ICS/Custom ROM
- wipe cache, data from recovery on GB ROM
Would it be safe for me to think that, flashing my Note again, the "1A method" does not apply to me at this moment since I already have the JB ROM (4.1.2) installed and running? Also, when I flashed my Note earlier with the JB ROM (4.1.2) through Odin3, all the data on my phone was kept intact. Was I lucky here, or does that all make sence?
Now, reading most of these forums, I often stumble upon the word "kernel", which frightens me a bit because these "kernels" mostly need to be downloaded for use. What is it, talking about kernels, that you are really talking about then? I mean, I don't suppose that a kernel is the same as my N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN firmware?
You also advised me to make use of this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 but, using this link, I don't see and/or understand WHAT I should be downloading or WHERE I should be downloading this kernel.
Could you PLEASE (!) take me by the hand here (step by step), before I mess everything up and with that, killing my Note?
I hope to hear from you again soon.
Thank you!
Robert,

- 1A is not from the link you are referring to.. its in the 3rd step.. to root.. donot follow 1A from the first link. its not needed.
- yes.. even when you flash the Dutch rom.. it will be intact if you donot do a wipe..
- the kernel i linked you to is a safe kernel which when installed auto roots the device and install CWM recovery..
here is a link to the LSZ kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39105835&postcount=2749

OK! Thank you again!
Excuse me for still having some small questions left, although I begin seeing the light...
I've downloaded the kernel: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.88.2-signed (name of the RAR-file). Should I use both the Dutch ROM and the downloaded kernel-file to have them both installed, if so - in which follow-up?, or am I talking non sence here? Or, is the Dutch Rom included in the kernel-file?
I cannot start with the procedure right away, because I have to go to work now; maybe later tonight. I'll also have to find out first how to install the kernell through Odin3, unless ofcourse you could tell me right away.
Anyway, thank you for your help so far.
Again, I hope to hear from you - provided I'm not annoying you!
Robert

Its just the kernel,., its to root your phone.. you can use it on the current rom you have or later after installing the new rom.
is the Dutch Rom included in the kernel-file?

No.. considering the fact that rom size >= 900 MB and kernel size >= 8MB

Thank you again! But I am afraid, I still need your help .
After unzipping the Kernel file in a map on my desktop (see picture), I see three maps with several maps and more files included and the "zImage" file (which I think is the actual Kernel file?). Could you please tell me what to do next to let it all work within Odin3? Which file(s) should I pick and how and where do I connect them to Odin3? In short: ehhh... help?:crying:
Maybe I am making too much trouble out of it and am I seeing bears on the road that aren't even there - If so, I appologize. But please, take me by the hand here... A small relief however: I AM learning from your answers...
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you!

you donot need to unzip it.. just copy that file onto the ext sd card.. boot into recovery and choose apply update from external storage..

[GUIDE] **Experimental** New method to root ICS roms (03/12/12)

From the Moderator : This method has Bricked alot of devices and has proved to be inconsistent in its results at the least... and Hard Bricking your device at the Worst. BE careful.... I would recommend more tried and true methods unless you do not mind taking the risks....... Oka1 Moderator
Hello everyone, I was undecided for a few weeks, but now I would like to share this new method (experimental), to get the root on our Galaxy Note, having as a base any stock ics rom. I tried it ONLY with N7000 LP1 and I9220 ZLP1 ics rom, so
I'm pretty sure it will work with all future stock ics rom. I saw this method weeks ago somewhere surfing on the net, but I don't remember where, cause I didn't added bookmark to that page, and I decided to apply it to our beloved SNote....
REMEMBER, this is EXPERIMENTAL method, I will not be liable for any damages that may happen to your device
STARTING BASE MUST BE STOCK ICS UNROOTED DEVICE
Let's start :
1. download this file : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCbGVkTW1YWmVTei1RNW0ySlBiSE1lZw
2. unpack it in your EXTERNAL SD ROOT, in order to have these two files : CWM.zip and SU-Busybox-Installer.zip. This method can't be applied if you don't have external micro SD
3. reboot in stock recovery, select option "2" install from external sd card, select CWM.zip and wait until CWM touch recovery appears
4. now select option "2" install from sd card, then select SU-Busybox-Installer.zip, then reboot
5. FINISH, now your device should be full rooted
Note that with CWM touch recovery YOU WILL NEVER DO OTHER OPERATIONS, like BACKUP OR RESTORE OR SOMETHING ELSE.
The only other thing that I tried is to flash another kernel (best is abyss 3.9 with redpill recovery), then reboot recovery, and ONLY FROM REDPILL do your stuff, like flash a new rom...but I DID IT ONLY FROM LP1 LEAKED ROM, I am not responsible if you do it from another base rom and it doesn't work or brick your device
I REPEAT THAT THIS METHOD IS "HIGH EXPERIMENTAL" AND DON'T TRY TO DO OTHER THINGS THAN THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE
But if for you it worked and you liked it, offer me a coffee for as long as I'm experimenting... or simply hit "Thanks"...
Thanks to "grgsiocl" and "ferdi90", my first two (and only) beta testers...
ooohh, looks like fun, awaiting feedback
anyone try yet? I would but already rooted
this works and I tried long time back with the help of maxicet. ..I was running XXLP 1KERNEL.. ..BUT we loose recovery....maxicet you should buy me a coffee, since I have not reveled..lol. ..
if someone wants to try, first flash the stock kernel, then follow the above said procedure
Sounds interesting, but I doubt we'll see a herd of testers galloping in to give it a go. Not after we've all seen the effect the 'monster' had on a lot of Notes.
Kudos for thinking outside the box, though, maxicet.

ok, next time you'll come to Italy I'll offer you a coffee...
Recovery will not be permanent, you must repeat point "3" each time you need it
this could be the number one method for getting root back after restoring an ICS nandroid...maybe someone tries

I think this method must be tested 1st of all and then go to the people, 'cause we have some bricks after Angelom kernel...

Hi , great work!
I've got a question first, after doing all this, can i install other Custom Roms (like Rocket Rom?), and what's the difference between this "CWM touch recovery" and normal CWM (in other tutorials) ?

[Q] new note user....a little help...

To anyone that can point me in the right direction....
Just got my note this morning - itching to get it rooted...ive had a fair few phones in the past (just coming from a sensation) which i rooted and reflashed nearly every week. used to have a galaxy tab which i also rooted etc etc so im ok with odin, adb etc etc.....the only problem i have is where to start - theres a million roms to choose from and im not sure where to go
my kernel is 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLA6-CL907341
baseband is N7000XXLA4
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the tools that i need access to...
thanks to anyone that can help

I can see that mine isnt directly rootable and know that ive got to go to an older rom but which one??
You can have any older ROM, listed here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
select any from directly rootable ROM, I am suggesting this one
N7000XXKL3 ------ 2.3.6 2011 December-------- N7000ODDKL1 --------------------India
as this is non wipe N rootable, you won't lose data.
Alternately, select from 4th line of my signature, which is modified pre rooted ROM
Well, first and foremost thanks for replying so fast! it'd be nice to get this flashed as soon as possible -ive got no data to keep as its new to me so ive got yours downloading now (take about another hour from what i can see) - so, once ive got your rom is it just a case of using oding to upload it (its a while since ive had a tab) so im a bit rusty.....+ i take it the next step is CWM?? is that right??
sorry - all the questions - obviously im downloading your interim rom to get it rooted - whats the best ics rom at the moment....?

There is no best rom as they all differ. I'd suggest Imilka's AOSP rom ( if you like AOSP that is ). It's fast, clean and stable.

yes, just use PC odin to flash ROM, if you have any query, refer to post #2 of thread, i have mention in previous msg.
yeah, next is to get CWM
And, finally you can update to latest ROM by using CWM to keep root intact.

??????????
What is "not directly rootable"? You can flash CF/Speedmod/Franco/Abyss kernel over any stock rom to get root. You are anyways asking to downgrade ROM using PC ODIN which is going to increase the counter. Why not flash only one of these kernels using PC ODIN?
From the Moderator,
Please clarify your statement. It is not entirely accurate. The Phone needs to be unlocked 1st before any rooting can occur. Secondly, Not All kernels will provide rooting, UNLESS they are written and configured to do so.
People's knowledge level in XDA are from total noob to expert, so it is highly advisable to provide more succinct complete postings e.g. do A then B then etc. That way, people do not misunderstand your posting.

Since how long you are on N7000 forum? looking you are since long on XDA (just seen U R developer)
May i have not uttered more thn three four words, if it was stated by newbie.
When you are 'recognized developer' it puts lot weight on every word you spoke. Hope you can consider to review again your advise.
Can you confirm once again to your statement?
Flash stock ROM using PC odin raise counter?
Flashing CF/Franco/Abyss with PC odin, won't raise counter?
I do believe, your statement is completely wrong. PC odin never raise counter, if you flash STOCK ROM. But any custom Kernel you have described, if flashed with PC Odin will certainly raise counter. Though you are recognized developer, but seems you are new to N7000 develpment.
I havent gone anywhere - still havent got your rooted file - im about 70% of the way there - this has got to be the slowest download ever!!
At last - ive got your rooted file - just extracted it and theres just one file in there - i thought with odin you had individual files....how do i load this one on....

You're 100% wrong. PC Odin won't raise the binary counter as long as it's a stock ROM. The OP needs to flash an older stock ROM so he can root and then do whatever he wants to do. The binary counter will get raised if he flashes a custom ROM with PC Odin.

ok - i got there in the end - Firstly i like to thank Dr.Ketan for pointing me in the right direction.....i have a few post-type questions.....
i flashed the rom you suggested (the one that was already rooted) - while it went on ok - while it was in that state i lost the ability to use the keyboard - when i type anything in the key would flash up but the it came up with "null" everytime i hit a key...not too much of a problem as it was only a temporary rom.
Also when i flashed the ics rom you suggested - imilka - it flashed.....then at the boot screen it kept freezing (at the boot animation) - i popped the battery a few times and then it eventually started.....and its been fine since....anyone else ever had that/is that the norm...?
Finally - obviously ive removed the stock rom and im now on ics....is there a way i can download all of the stylus apps and put them back in (one of the reasons i bought a note was to use the stylus - bit gimmicky but it would be nice to mess around with it)
Also - i had to install clockwork mod from the market (i have a paid app version of it) - to actually get into clockwork mod....how to i get to cwm from a cold boot - i read that you had to hold down the vol up and down and hit the power - mine just boots - unless im doing something wrong but, when its fully booted i can go to cwm and restart from there and i can go in.....
Sorry about all the questions but, its a great phone, just want to start messing around with it...new toy!
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
Comfy
Keyboard null issue is common, that usually manage by flashing other rom or with flashing csc, but you have manage it so nothing to discuss.
booting error is routinely termed as bootloop, also common, particularly switching between gb n ics rom. Usually it solved with wipe cache n wipe data.
Sorry abt stylus appl, i have no expirence of ics, as i never installed any custom rom.(n it was not me suggested ics b'coz m noob for custom rom)
Market version of cwm is totally different n won't work on note.
there is custom kernel for note, which having same functiin like cwm.

Tab GT-P1000 Which version of Clockworkmod do I install?

Hi
I have a non branded GT-P1000 Tab. Trying to follow instructions at http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-gt-p1000-android-4-0-4-ics-aokp-rom-97483/ to install AKOP.40 ROM
Need Clockworkmod installed.
Installed Rom Manager then attempted to install Clockworkmod - It asks me to choose my phone type. Closest options are: Galaxy Tab - ATT, Samsung Galaxy Tab - T-Mobile, Samsung galaxy tab - VZW.
What do I install, or is there another version of Clockworkmod for non Branded TAB somewhere?
Thanks ColinK
From Manager is not compatible with P1000
You may brick your device if you force install cwm recovery of different device.
The only method is to flash via Odin, a kernel that contains cwm recovery.
overcome kernel is one of them.
In fact it was recommended in all ICS rom install guide you find here.

See my reply there.
Forget about reference to AOKP build 38, that was back then.

Hi
Thanks for your prompt reply. The instructions for flashing overcome seems to have multiple steps and "IF's", with multiple opportunities to go wrong.
The android authority guide seems straightforward, and I have gone through some of it - except the guide makes no mention of how to get CWM.
Is there a simple way to get the right version of CWM installed, or something else that will do the same steps / functions.
If not, were exactly does the install part start and do I also have to install Odin?
Sorry for so many questions / uncertainty.
ColinK
As I said before.
No, there is only ONE way to get CWM recovery for P1000.
That is to flash a kernel that has CWM Recovery.
Either cf-root kernel or Overcome Kernel or Redpill kernel.
It is dead simple.
Download the tar file
Connect to Odin.
Flash.
Now, lets start by telling us what you have. P1000 running Froyo?
Rooted?
BTW, if you follow the complete Overcome guide, 99.999% you won't go wrong, if you follow every steps.
So read it 10 times if not sure.
The GB-Stock-Safe package mentioned in Overcome and available on their site, it contains the correct version of Odin (1.7) and the USB driver for Samsung.
32 bit and 64 bit driver for Windows.
Absolutely nothing else extra is needed. All there.

Actually you can flash a CWM.zip update without installing a kernel after you root your device.
But again, installing kernel with CWM included just like Priyana said would be a lot easier and simpler.

Hi Thanks for your continued help.
GT-P1000, 2.2, Baseband P1000xxjma, Kernel 2.6.32.0 [email protected]#1
The tab is completely standard, never touched until a few days ago. Followed the instrictions at Android Authority to Root using z4Root
How do I know if it is rooted? (Ie was z4 root successful).
Did Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and Wipe Cache Partition - then realised I did not have ClockworkMod recovery installed.
That is where I am now.
I hope you do not mind me asking clarifications for your instruictions. Your guide said 'jump to .. flash overconme" - where does that part start.
The quide mentions downloading a gb stock safev5.zip , an Oversome Kernel.tar and 7 series wipe.zip
Note the gb stock.zip mentions Gingerbread Based - I have Fryo (what are the implications)
But your last reply just mentions downloading the tar file and using odin
Can you see that for someone who is not familiar with all this Android jargon this is all very confusing.
I am quite competent in following instructions, but most instructions assume certain conditions (without telling me if my Tab meets those conditions), and assumes I know what eg "odin sees it" means, where is odi, where do I install it, how do I use it.
What I really want is a straightforward guide that will tell me how to install AOKP ROM Build 40 onto MY Tab, without 'go here' and 'go there' and only do this IF ...
Thanks for your help.

Hi ColinK,
Unfortunately there is no straight way to install AOKP.
I am afraid you have to follow the guide to the letter, sort of.
This is why.
Some froyo from for our tab has locked bootloader.
So if you are on froyo there is a small chance you had a locked one.
You need to root your tab then run an app to check and to patch.
(I forgot by now whether you need root to check... to patch definitely yes)
Now, that is why Overcome guide said if froyo you need to root.
It is not strickly necessary.
Now, let's assume you don't have locked bootloader.
You only need to use Odin and flash GB stock safe v5 (which is actually Gingerbread Samsung version JQ1 Italian rom)
So, you need Odin.
Unpack the gb stock safe and you find Odin and USB driver.
Install USB driver first, then plug in your tab and your PC will detect the new device.
Unplug your device.
Install Odin.
Launch Odin, put your device to download mode and plug your device in to PC.
I am not a big user of Odin. I use heimdall in Linux which is simple and just work, so my memory is sketchy.
Odin will detect your device. There will be messages on screen.
Line up the files according to the guide and flash.
If no error your tab rebooted and you have GB ROM.
that of course isn't the end because you need cwm.
So continue with the guide.
It asks you to use Odin to flash overcome kernel tar.
Do it and you will end up having cwm recovery.
That is the end of guide.
You don't need to flash overcome rom.
Just follow my other thread reply to get AOKP.

Addition info: The easiest way to check if you are rooted or not:
Download and install 'root check' or 'got root?' from google play store.
If the rooting failed, you can try the doomslords rooting script. It was my favorite root script up to GB2.3.3
Once you succesfully rooted, continue download the bootloader patch for froyo.
I have been on AOKP for so long, all this rooting, bootloader and all are a blur now.

I can feel you. I can't even 100% remember if gb-stock-safe is pre-rooted or overvcome kernel gives root access for it.

Well Colink, I must say.....priyana's guides are one of the best ones for installing roms ...it's just perfect...I flashed my tab with aokp without even getting a single error....read the overcome guide perfectly ...I know it's a bit confusing but read it ten times and u will be just fine

Overcome links are all down. Any alternatives? (Rooted gt-p1000 2.3.3 Gingerbread DXJPI
Come on,
a little search in overcome thread and should spot it.
Here is the spoiler
http://tabfirmware.com/2012/01/romk...e-7-series-v4-1-0-♫-overcome-kernel-v4-0-0-♫/
I too am trying to get the Tab up to ICS via the overcome procedure, links are down on overcome and not all the links on the tabfirmware are working, specifically the Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.zip doesn't work, with a nice <This file does not exist, the access to the following file is limited or it has been removed due to infringement of copyright.> message.
There's also the link to the full overcome site as a screen capture or something in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20974872, but it's now giving a 404, so my confidence level for doing this is now low ;-(
Any help appreciated. pls, pls, pretty pls.
Don't want a bricked Tab would make me sad
Here is the kernel (tar format for Odin, zip isn't the one you want I guess)

I recommend first upgrading to 2.3.3, then flashing chainfire's modded cwm via odin:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/vsN8JA6x/CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v33-CW.html
and then flashing overcome via cwm:
http://www.ravishare.com/1fragzl971e6/Overcome_7_Series_v4.1.0_NoWipe.zip.html
then you can flash any aokp or cyanogenmod mtd build.
Upgraded to ICS and thanks
Ok so thanks to all who helped out with links to roms and guides.
I now have a lovely Galaxy Tab with ICS from AOKP.
And for anyone who would like to try but hasn't yet it really is surprisingly easy, just take your time and make sure to do it right, you won't regret the upgrade to ICS
I stood on the shoulders of giants to do this :good:.
So you use the method I posted or what Gogol posted?

guyz i need help in installing cwm in my rooted galaxy tab p1000 running 2.2 froyo

[Q] First attempt at rooting (4.0.4)

I have been reading this website and several others over the last few days and last night decided to give rooting a go. Trouble is - I am not sure where to begin.
Last night I tried downloading Philz kernel - PhilZ-cwm6-DXLR5-OLB-v2.7 since my kernel version is 3.0.15-n7000dxlr5-cl968032.
I then followed these instructions:
Download xxx-signed.zip kernel matching your ROM
Put the previously downloaded xxx-signed.zip file on your external sd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power)
Select "apply update from external storage".
Now select the xxx-signed.zip file you copied in previous step
You are rooted + new PhilZ-cwm6 kernel with CWM6
What I got was a message like - signature authorization failed.
Not sure what to do next and would appreciate some guidance.
I am doing this basically because Ive decided to keep this phone a little longer, learn about rooting and try my hand at experimenting some of the custom roms.
Again appreciate any assistance / guidance anyone might be willing to provide
thank you
Is this the one you tried?
http://d-h.st/o9X
yes... i think that is it
download using phone browser. the move it to ext sd and try again..
case sensitive link.... my bad
Obviously Not. The link i posted links to the kernel. It should be downloading the kernel.
same result..... signature verification failed
The otherday I use PhilZ 3.99 for LR5 from his thread in ori dev. It works fine.

Like I said... im new to this, but the instructions seem simple enough (as above). Wish I could get it to work for me....
I saw you are using ver 2.7. On the PhilZ he has 3.99 for lr5. It worked for me.

i am downloading the 3.99 version now - see how it goes
tried 3.99 and get the same result -- signature verification failed
Strange. Maybe check if there a box in the stock recovery that can be ticked or unticked? Otherwise, check other root method from dr.ketan sticky at android dev thread. Many easy method, even an apk that root.
Sent from my phone.
dont know if this is relevant to the issue, but here it goes
About a month ago, I let the phone update some software - didnt really pay attention what it was updating as i was working.
Later that day i noticed my company email was not coming through. I raised a ticket with IT and received a response after looking into my case stating that the company does not allow rooted devices to access the email system. I found this strange because I had never tried to root the device. Is it possible that somehow an update occurred that rooted my phone?
Im aware that there are several ways to root, but again, im new to this would appreciate further guidance that might help me get this phone rooted.
thanks again
I would try method 0 and 1B from dr.ketan thread below.

Let us know how it goes.

willing to try these methods - if i start with method 0, how do i go about flashing with a safe kernel?
i have read quite a bit about kernel issues for 4.0.4 so just dont want to create a serious issue

once rooted, use mobile odin to flash tar.md5 version of philz kernel, not zip
ok.... im rooted - thanks to both of you for the assistance.
now.... im rooted at 4.0.4. If i want to install a custom rom say for 4.2 or 4.3, I guess I need to root to the appropriate operating system. how does this process work? do i need to first flash to a safe kernel?
bear with me.... this is very complicated for my non-IT brain : )
The most reliable roms now are still stockbased custom roms 4.12. Other newer roms are still experimental. I like Sweet rom 10.5. You need to read instructions for rom flashing from the rom thread.
Sent from my phone.
i have downloaded the following files to computer and getting ready to place them on my phone:
PhilZ-cwm6-DXLR5-OLB-3.99.tar.md5
MobileODIN_FlashKernel_N7000-v3.0
MobileODINLite-v3.85.apk
Is there any special instructions i need to be aware of for mobile odin? I assume i just run the apk program and follow instructions from there to get my safe kernel flashed?

My Note GT-N7000 don't start anymore

Hi, I wanted to change the ROM of my old GT-N7000 as I recently got a Note 4 but I did what I should have never done.
I wanted to install TWRP to get the Spirit ROM. TWRP app downloaded well from the Play Store and I did it!
When I restarted the Note I stayed with the Samsung Galaxy Note screen and since several days I cannot found out anything to install a new Rom.
I searched the Web, found out a few guide saying to install CWM but I don't have any Recovery mode available now.
I still get the connection in Odin when I put the Note in download mode but that's all.
Please, if someone could help and tell me what to do. I'm a homeless and all my money is going into cyber to search for solutions.
I really need one.
Thanks anyway...
Really, nobody can help?

Hi, thanks for your answer.
I just don't have any idea of I could install.
Everything I tried failed or links are too old and things are not available anymore.
I do think I should format or erase everything and reinstall something but what and from where ?
If you can help I would thank you a lot as the phone is unusable since several days now...
Did you tried the firmware way?

Okay, so...
From my old stuff in an external HD i Have this :
ROM STOCK WIPE SAMSUNG - N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1_OXA (GingerBread).zip
Rooted Stock Odex N7000XXLC1 (GingerBread France).rar
XEU-N7000XXLT9-20130611091825 (Jelly Bean Euro).zip
In the link you gave me they ask to download a firmware from SamMobile but they are 3 for the French GT-N7000 and my last update was a 4.1.2 working with any provider, even in Spain (I do live in Spain). Secondly, one have to be a premium member to download those firmware.
I think I should be able to install what I need using files I already have but Odin doesn't recognize .zip or .rar files and I don't know what to do. I upgraded the system a few years ago and don't remember how.
I also have no idea if zhat i recently did with TWRP changed partitions size and if it is the case then I have no idea of how to use PIT files.
Also, those guides refer to versions of program not available anymore and sometimes they changed names of buttons...
Have you repartitioned your phone? Those .zip files have .md5.tar files and odin recognise then in the AP section. I think that the 1-st .zip maybe is firmware. For download firmwares only you need to register for free to download firmwares with slow download speed (aproximately hour or two for downloading a single firmware file).

No I didn't change size of partitions...
I finally tested a XEU-N7000XXLT9-20130611091825 (Jelly Bean Euro) I had (don't know where it comes from). Unziped and opened in Odin with the AP button.
It installed this new ROM and the phone started but is not rooted anymore. I have now a 4.1.2 which doesn't seem to be one a got before,
At least I can start the phone...
What surprise me is to see the TWRP app on the phone screen and also SuperSU. SuperSU say the phone is not rooted.
Now, I suppose I have to forget everything about TWRP and must think about CWM no ?
If I want to test and then, install different ROM I sometimes see that TWRP is the one needed to do the job...
What do you think I should do now ?
Root the device using CWM or something different ?
You can try everything you want in the Android development section but this time follow the steps as they are and use the kernels and recoveries that are suitable for the deserved rom. Probably your Note is with custom 4.1.2 now. I am now using my Note with Leanige OS, based on CM12 and android 6.0 and am not having problems plus the phone is running very smooth and fast. This rom is using own Kernel, recovery and google apps(gaps) package.

You really interest me...
I'm surprised cause it's because I found out a guide to instal a 6.0.1 which needed TWRP that drive me to install it.
I'm really confused too because I downloaded TWRP app from the Play Store and it accepted to downlñoad and install the app to my phone. It also accepted to download the Rom and it's when I restarted the device that I met me with an unusable phone...
So ?...
Sure, if I wasn't alive I wouldn't have done that but is it all my fault ????
I would ne glad to get all the steps you did and files you got to install your ROM on mine Ç(as far as it speak french and spanish too )
Is it "Leanige OS" or "LineageOS ?
What about the battery ? The autonomy ?
And I must say I'm a homeless and don't have a computer with a 22= screen in my backpack. Also I have only 1 Gb of data each month so...
Most of the time when I have problem that means I have to go to cyber and this is never free....
Then I cannot really read everyday everything about all my devices ( and I'm not only speaking about phones)
Anyway thanks a lot to everybody who help me...
This is what I use now : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-nightowl-alpha1-t3255536 It is stable and usable as a every day phone. I followed every step Bauner wrote and I don't have issues for now. Battery life depends on the use of the phone and how old is the battery. Mine is 2012 and it can hold 1 day and it is logical.
Try using Kies to restore it. I had to use Kies to update the OS on my bratty little sisters Note as she had gotten it running full throttle all the time.

Hi, I will try now to upgrade the ROM but wanted to ask you if you make any change to your partition size and if yes what did you do, I mean how much place did you allow for the system?
Tell me if your phone is rooted and how you did it and if you have CWM or TWRP installed please...
Thanks
I downloaded those two files:
N7000_STOCK_PIT.zip => In case I have to reinitiate partition size one day
n7000_(16gb)_4_6_8_10_12gb.zip => Cause I think this one should be the one I need.
I suppose I should be allowed to use the ROM I just previously installed which give me a 4.1.2
Well....mine is repartitioned with 8GB internal and 5gb for sdcard0. It is rooted of course with TWRP. Rooting comes with the rom. It has SU instaled and to root the device you only need to go in the dev options and to tick on the root acess.

I am dowloading this https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=25384 and I am a little bit surpised cause of the file size...
It should be bigger for a full OS no?
I'm a little bit stuck with this http://opengapps.org/?arch=arm&api=6.0&variant=micro
What version should I get and how did you install TWRP ? The las version of this ROM must be installed with it...
Well I lied to you. I am using Philz touch CMW recovery and sorry for that. The size of the Rom is normal. With the Gapps you just need to hit the download button (red one) and flash it later. Install could be not a big problem. The steps are in the post. If you didn't find them here they are: Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120702299) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin
4. boot into recovery
5. flash this kernel https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526788121 to get an updated cwm recovery
(this step will make your old rom unbootable stuck in the n7000 screen but you can boot into recovery with press and hold "home" and "volume+" buttons and power on your phone)
6. you need to reboot! your device now to recovery
7. you are now in the updated recovery and you need to do a factory reset (and to go sure you should also format the /system partition)
8. you can now install the rom and gapps and reboot your device
