So, my Xperia V just came from Sony Care, they fixed my phones orientation sensor and installed .490 again. Now, after installing the same exact apps I used before, my phone keeps making this sound:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8775489/Sekalaiset tiedostot/sound.wav
It's really bizarre. There's no visual notification, it's not a facebook chat thingy, it's not google talk thingy, it's not whatsapp. It's really random, I had to record for 3 mins and play with my phones a little bit to get the sound.
Bumpedi bump bump. No ideas? And oh btw, the orientation sensor did not get fixed. They just cleaned it, but still, my phone sometimes wont rotate properly.

Hi,
searching about the issue on the internet, I've found alot of topics lying all around the web regarding notification sounds but different phones (SGS2, SGS3, Xperia P,...).
The thing is, no matter what notification I get (I have different notification sounds for different apps), 90% of the time, the notification just doesn't play though to the end but most of the time gets cut off.
Hangouts has different (but system notification sound) and it gets cut off.
WhatsApp has different sound (again, system sound) and it gets cut off.
I'm not sure if this started to happen after upgrading to 4.2.2, it definitely is very annoying.
Anyone else having the same problem? Or anyone has some kind of workarounds for this?
Thank you for your help.

Yes , i'm having the same issue but 10 % of the time max . I don't use hangouts but the SMS sometimes do get cut off . Are you using a sound mod ?
I installed soundmod after having this problems. I haven't noticed any difference between using it or not.
hm. I thought that it was the sound mod . Meh. I have no clue how to fix it , nor that it bothers me that much since it only happens every 2 days or so
Yes having the same issue since the upgrade.. Using non-system and system notification sounds... No sound mod either I'm completely stock.
Cheers Rob
Hi, just upgraded from my Galaxy Note to the z1 yesterday.
Very impressed with the phone so far, but I have encountered one strange problem that I can seem to find no other comments about.
When I connect a headset (the bundled one, specifically) and turn my phone to silent mode so I can enjoy my audiobook in peace without being bothered every time I get a new promotional email, the notification sound plays over and pauses my audio book.
It does this no matter whether I turn the phone to silent, vibrate, turn the ringtone and notification volume to 0, and whether or not I make these changes manually or allow the smart connect app to make them for me.
The strange thing is, it only plays the notification sounds when something is playing through the headset. When I'm sitting just using the headset as a handsfree then everything behaves as expected - if a notification comes in, the phone will vibrate, flash the notification led, but won't make a peep otherwise. But as soon as media is playing, the phone seems to make up its own mind to vibrate and play the notification sound even though I've put it on silent.
Am I the only one experiencing this bug, or, more surprisingly, am I the only one who finds it hugely irritating?
Can anyone else even confirm if this behaviour is normal or is there something bugged out?
Over 60 views and no one can even confirm if this is actually how the phone is meant to deal with notifications?
Yes, I think is just You. Anyway, you have to play with settings because there have to be the solution, if you do not that mean is how supposed to be. If you are Rooted maybe you can edit some notification so if they will not show up you will not listen the sound in the handset.
I've tried everything! On my other phones (used an htc desire hd and a galaxy note) once I had my phone on silent then I didn't get audible notifications whether I had a headset plugged in or not. On the Z1 though I can't seem to get rid of them. I only hear them when I'm playing music, I wouldn't mind if it gave me an audible notification if I just had my headset plugged in as a handsfree and wasn't listening to anything, but having my music interrupted is pretty annoying, and I still don't even know if it's just something stupid I'm doing or if that's just the way it is.
I'm not rooted, I don't really want to since it stops sky go from working, but if it can stop the notification headache I might be willing. Don't really want to install a custom ROM unless the camera performance is as good as stock either
Yeah, I get it too. Too lazy to check the player settings though so not sure if it is something in the player settings that is doing this

Good point, can be the player too.
haven't seen anything in the walkman or audible apps to turn this off and never had to do it on my previous phones. oh well, at least i know it's normal now, hopefully they fix it in an update. thanks.
Okay. Recently started facing this problem after the 4.3 update. When the incoming call pops up, and when i slide right to recieve the call, the slider and screen hangs for like 3 seconds and then a the call is recieved AFTER a strong vibrate. Also once it totally hung after i slid the recieve dial and i couldn't recieve! Anyone else facing the same problem? Its been irritating coz i can't complete basic functions! Anyone know the cause or the solution? :crying:
(BTW on searching, the same problem plagues a couple of other low end Xperias and they thought its coz of a Voice messenger apps. Well, i don't use any!)
same to me
Same thing happens to me...also sometimes when i answer a call i hear the interlocutor in the speaker from the back (like in hands free). The lag in the aswer or the hands free happens not so often, but it's annoying, specialy from a phone that it's supposed to be...almost premium. I have a Xperia ZR C5502 with Android 4.3, 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware.
Damn. Same phone and firmware. No one has an answer??

I ve got the same problem too since the update: laggy and straight to speaker...
For the auto speaker I found out that Chrome was the culprit: uninstall all the update and it should be fine.
However it s only a temporary fix as there is chrome update quite often.
I'm having issues with my z3 compact.like when i'm in a call, the screen gets activated randomly when i move the phone .if i hold it straight onto my ears it works all good. But if i move the phone even if very little around or take away the phone from my face and put it back, the screen gets activated and randomly touched.Anyone having the issue while in call?
my past phones are, Sony live with walkman,HTC desire X,Moto G,LG G3,Moto X.So i know how it should be.Never had that kind of behavious before with sensors.
Not that sort of problem... my problem is the proximity sensor often does not reactivate the screen when I take the phone away from my face to end a call.
Do you have a screen protector on the front?
no I don't use any protector.and I have the problem you mentioned as well.
if I put the phone on my face at certain angle, proximity sensor won't turn off the display.with other phones I never had this sort of weird problems.
According to Antutu, there is no proximity sensor in my phone. Very surprised to find that out. Using D5833.
its very annoying, sometimes its working and sometimes you have no access to the display. When you call somebody and are in the mailbox, there is no way of hanging up, you have to wait till the other site quits the call. How can sony produce something like that?! Is there no quality control?
I would really appreciate If somebody has/finds a workaround for this issue.
Thanks in advance!
Thorsten
I have the same issue and I've figured out that it's more likely to happen when I hold it to my left ear than my right. It's probably due to the position of the proximity sensor. I always use my phone on my left ear but fortunately I don't see this as a very big issue.

I have the same problem, the issue started when I updated to SW version 5.1.1 did you ever found a solution?
Thanks
Hey guys! So I'm always on here asking more technical questions, but I realized that I never asked about why the Nexus 6 for some reason doesn't like to play short sounds! For instance, the sounds when you like stuff and share stuff in the Facebook app, or the ding sound from Facebook Messenger. As well as other short sounds. Is this just mine? Or does this phone just do that? Thanks again guys!
I have the same thing happen on my phone. When it receives a notification, sometimes the first 1/4 second or so is very low in volume and then the sound picks up to a normal level. Weird for sure.
Then I'm not the only one, it's weird and I wonder if it's a software bug or even supposed to be a software feature! Lots of times, if it's a short sound, the phone just vibrates and skips the sound altogether!

Same here...
Yep me too, intermittently, on Cataclysm suspect it's an M issue.

Might not be the same issue but I found the same thing with ringtones - starts out very low initially and then returns to normal volume. Not sure it is an issue inherent with M since I haven't had it happen with most of the modified M roms but did have the issue with the M versions of Cataclysm I've flashed. Also had similar issue with some L roms also.
I hate this low volume bug and have started using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.notificationsmanager... It works excellent.. Set up repeating notification for program ur having problems with, for me is FB messenger.. U get a simultaneous double notification sound first time and u can setup time interval for re-notification... Free version you can pick just one app, but paid version unlimited apps and I think was like $2 bucks or so... Well worth it... Hopefully helps someone... Flash safe lol

Some of these half sounds are freaky!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this has been an issue since this phone was released. It has been for me, at least. Every sound starts off very quiet and increases to normal after a second or two. I hated it at first but I've learned to live with it.

I've had it since I got the phone on 5.0.1 yea and still happens today.
Yea, this phone has always done this. Definitely not a Marshmallow issue.

So. Is there absolutely no solutions for this? I recently switched from SlimLP to stock Marshmallow and now I keep missing notifications since the sound is sometimes basically inaudible. I didn't have any problems with notification or any other volumes with SlimLP. Kinda sucks how switching back to stock broke such an essential feature especially since stock doesn't have notification LED either.
Nexus 6 have 3 main audio issues;
1- Volume normalization for certain frequencies. Some songs are really loud(funky, pop types), some are just fading suddenly(rock or metallic), just try to use a good equalizer program or viper.
2- Voltage dependent volume lowering. This is an issue with amplifier chipset, some kernels are disabling them(blu-spark, hellscore etc) but at very low voltages it is still effective.
3-Ascending sound. This is what causes notification sound problems. Actually this can be experienced all android system sounds and lots of apps that use them(whatsapp message send click, keyboard clicks, notificaitions etc.). Only way to solve it for now is to use another program for notifications. I'm using lightflow for led configuration and some notificaiton sounds like whatsapp, facebook messenger. You just need to switch volume control in notification settings to lightflow volume control, also you must disable original sounds to none. It is not a good solution, yes and I hate dropping google keyboard sounds but for now it is te only way .
Definitely this issue wasn't on L stock Rom, after upgrading to M stock Rom, my notification went to hell.

Can you tell how u set lightflow for Facebook messenger? I set it up and still issue persist with messages, did I just waste £2.00?
