Well, got the same problem and couldn't fix it. Somehow the Perseus kernel will fix it if you stay in this kernel.
Search for perseus and follow the instructions.

WTH are you talking about? Looks like his EFS got corrupted and this have nothing to do with kernel.
Try to use EFS Tool from Dev section.
Efs corrupt and perseus isn't a fix, yes that's true. But if he can't fix it like I tried with several tools (EFS also) to fix IMEI/EFS the only solution for him is using the perseus kernel. Just a workaround, that's all.

I restored my efs using a backup that I placed with QPST and no, it doesn't help at all...
If I'm asking is because I've already tried that. I know how to use the search button and Google.
This happened because I've ticked Nand full wipe on Odin, I just want to know if there's a way to fix that. I like Perseus kernel, in fact it's the kernel I've been using the last months, but I lost the possibility of installing AOSP ROMS, which is frustrating to me

that it doesn't work
i just experiencing this exact same issue....simply restore your efs... if you already backed up of your efs of course :cyclops:...for me, i was using hc-ktool from playstore...works like a charm
Well I tried several times to restore my efs and I'm having the same problem: I'm stuck with Perseus Kernel and can't not install any AOSP ROM (yeah frustrating).
I've recently found out that Adam Kernel makes your Modem work as Perseus does, but I'm still hoping someone can found a solution, or at least that the dev of such kernels port them kernels to AOSP ROMS.

You may want to check the permissions on your efs folder. There is a thread on here somewhere that gives the terminal commands. Worked like a charm for me. I found that the files were being deleted. Once permissions corrected all sorted.

Repairing IMEI
Hi All
I've got the same problem, and got my IMEI back simply by flashing this attached file with Odin:
Do it at your own risk, at least I have tried it with 100% success.... :good:

Ok, I found the original quote regarding setting the permissions correctly.

You have to root your phone and install Terminal Emulator from Google Play.
Open terminal emulator and type as ;
su
rm /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
rm /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
echo -n ON >> /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
echo -n ON >> /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
chown 1000.1000 /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
chown 1000.1000 /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
chmod 0744 /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
chmod 0744 /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
reboot
You now should not see the that message anymore. Its because of an EFS corruption. ( Thanks to yesilcin*com (sawgent) ) for exact solution.
Hope it helps!!!

Try this and hopefully it should do the job.
You can use either adb or a shell app.

Please help me get network connectivity back!!
I have pm you before, right?
Go to /sdcard /backup
Find the oldest one I think is safest.
Replace the entire /efs with the one from backup.
The latest might be already bad.

I had same problem too,
but i can't fix it
in /sdcard/backup i have 2 subfolder, they are "efs" and "efs-189"
what i must have to do?
sorry my bad english
They are just two different backups.
Use the older of the two. I have more than a dozen.
If you can't tell, try one after another.
If all fail, restock. And if stock good, try a rooted custom Rom like overcome. Then backup the /efs manually.

Thx for your reply, but unfortunately I've tried restocking using Overcome from the link at your signature.
But it doesn't help, IMEI is still 0044XX
what was the first thing you did that broke the IMEI?
If it was broken after installing CM9/10, then your sdcard will have a backup folder with efs folder and efs-xxx folders.

I don't know anymore, I flash a few ROMs and only then do I notice the GPS not working and IMEI is now 0044XXX.
I've restock a few times with overcome and re-partition, therefore all backup are already lost.
I found some in external SD as well.
and those aren't wiped by any repartitioning or ROM install.

If he has been flashing the phone and you have null imei and baseband, chances are that he also tried to root and flashed the package intended for the i9300.
Head over to the dev section and take a look in my sticky thread guide. Theres a param binary near the bottom of the first post. Download that and flash with odin. That should give you a working phone back.
Let me know how you get on.

Dont update ril as it has a qualcomm ril not a samsung ril and for the same reason efs pro wont do alot as the I9305 uses a different efs structure aswell.
I am currently in the process of updating it to support qualcomm devices.

That's why I don't trust at 100% on online sells, it sad but true...
I flash slimbean 4.2.1 last night. Smooth but I get 24+hrs no service.
I check my imei and get this just. What should I do??
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
did you checked your Baseband version in settings-> about phone: Baseband?
If it is unknown, then try to flash a modem on top. Depending on what rom you came before, SLIM does not provide a modem within its rom.zip.
And what imei is showing in settings->about phone->status: IMEI?
a number beginning with 0049xxxx or something like that is only a pseudo imei and you have lost your original imei (do not post your complete emei here for safety issus)
You Must Install Stock ROM ( 3 Files ) and when you install 3 files ROM , Every things Should be OK.
To get the imei back: yes.
But if the IMEI is ok, flashing a modem should be enough....
