Its been a while since ive been on these forums, i used to root and install custom roms on my X10 all the time..... but a Few days ago i rooted my Galaxy Note, following a tutorial from root galaxy note .com and my phone rebooted fine and after doing a root check my phone showed as being rooted, then last night in bed i installed lcd density and changed the settings upon restart my note is hanging on the Samsung bootup logo, i can get into odin mode where it stays on Downloading...Do not turn off target!!, i can also get it into Android System Recover, but cannot get the method of both buttons and power to work
I have been googling online for the last hour finding an answer and most seem to say i need to reflash the whole phone back to normal in odin but was wondering if there is any easier way to get back up and running especially as i didnt install any custom firmware on my phone
please help ??
This question dosn't belong to dev-forum.
But here's the quick answer:
LCD Density changes only one line that blongs to DPI in build.prop file. But you have to alter 2 lines.
So the quick way to revert your bootloop: go to recovery, make a full wipe and reflash your ROM.
If you want change your DPI: Alter it by manually change the lines in build.prop or grab ROM-Toolbox from market and make the changes.
hi thanks for the answer, when you say your rom ? ive been trying to find a custom uk 4.04 rom for the note for the last 45 mins but cant seem to find one, any ideas where ? also how would i change the build.prop without my phone being able to boot up, is it possible?

Hey man, I couldn't recommend this toolkit more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1979290
It does EVERYTHING, and the things that it doesn't do itself, it steps you through step by step.
I used to to root, install CWM recovery and Pandoriam rom when I bought my i9305 6 months ago. And 1 month I used to it to return my phone back to 100% factory stock, including triangle away. Samsung ended up replacing my phone due to a faulty headphone jack, but they were none the wiser regarding software mods.
You really can't go wrong with it my friend.
Oh b******s! Can anybody possibly confirm to me what I suspect? Numbnuts aka me decided that I wanted to go back to genuine firmware (unrooted) I9305. Done the official thing via ODIN and thought wahey back to normal. Um..............well i'm not basically. Not only has the device remained modified..............my sim card is now showing as no service (t-mobile/EE) and to top it all off the *#06* thing to find the IMEI? It's showing as nu//lnull. Not good. I've managed to install the original 4.11 firmware via Odin but that's about it.

unknown. And only state no sim inserted. I havent found a complete fix and my i9305 still does not
work with stock firmware kernel. All i found was a workaround for now.
What I did to get phone working was:
Install stock firmware via odin.
Then flash perseus kernel via odin.
Make sure to clean cache etc if you coming from custom rom.
I do not know why this works. Found by trial and error.
Hope it helps you in some way
Have to say I have no problems with perseus kernel

Repairing IMEI
Dear all,
Although I’m quite new in this forum, I’ve some years of experience with my HTC Desire CyanogenMod.
In early feb, I moved to a Galaxy SIII I9503 which was working perfectly until my IMEI gets corrupted.
I try to recover using this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117, the process goes… but unfortunately it doesn’t change the IMEI.
Does anyone has experimented it ?
Thanks for replying

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone could bare with me and help me out with my little issue.
THE ISSUE:
I bought a locked (Vodafone) I9305 for my girlfriend, in hopes that I could then SIM-unlock it as easily as I did with my Galaxy S2;
I understand I need to root my phone before I do that, so...
THE QUESTION:
How do I backup my phone before rooting it, so that I can return it to the exact state it came out of the box?
Also, what's the safest method for rooting it?
And before you guys tell me, I did use the search function, but it only came up with some generic tutorials that don't really go into what I want to do.
Any help would be really appreciated!

To go back to stock use odin, and to search your firmware go to sammobile.com
As for rooting (im not sure), i think if u flash supersu.zip from supersu thread on stock recovery u will get root
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Try CF-Auto root for rooting (using odin) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959605,
easier and simplest way to root.
After rooting, just do a factory reset and your phone status will stay Normal/Official instead of Modified.
Please note that this is just root and no custom recovery is included
to get back to stock, use Odin too as the C4SCA mentioned above
there are multiple guides on rooting, backing up, and unlocking.

Wait, what? Since when does doing a factory reset on an Android phone takes it back to the original firmware? I've had an HTC One X, and a custom firmware on it, and everytime I do a factory reset, it just deletes the files, it doesn't change the software at all. Am I missing something here? Is it different with the Galaxy S3 I9305?
Ok so, sorry for double posting, but I think I'm getting somewhere.
Since I only need root to unlock the phone, once I do root it (I figure I can use this guide?), I should FIRST unlock it and THEN reset the flash counter? And then, in case I need to return the phone back, I'll reset it to factory state (unrooted and locked)...how?
Just need help with this last question please!

Dude, I never said it will change the firmware, it will change the system status under settings --> About phone --> Status to Normal from Modified
This enables to get OTA updates even if the phone is rooted
To answer your last question, you just need to flash the stock firmware ( which is currently on your phone) again using odin

Hi Guys!
So I got my hands on an HTC One Mini 2 Demo Unit. Don't ask me how or why. (NOT STOLEN!)
I have tried to get rid of the Demo mode app but without success.
This is what I have done:
Unlocked the bootloader
Flashed TWRP
This is what I have tried to do to get rid of the demo mode:
Wiping and factory reset from TWRP. About 1 minute after the phone has booted it autoinstalls the Demo Mode again. Before it does all functions is available etc, after the demo mode is installed some options and functions is disabled.
Rooted, Installed Xposed and module BootManager to stop Demo Mode from booting, no success the demo app still starts upon boot
Tried to uninstall the app with various root uninstallers, they just fail.
Tried wiping ALL partitions etc from TWRP and restored an original HTC One Mini 2 system dump from another thread, same thing. After about one minute the Demo application autoinstalls itself and some functions is diabled and the annoying demo mode starts now and then, and blinkfeed is full of sh*t, demo contacts etc.
After I reboot all settings etc is restored to it's original state.
Any ideas how I can force the phone not to install the demo mode after reset?
Thanks!
Update: Flashing the Cyanogenmod firmware from another thread does not install the demo mode and the phone works as it should. I can call etc. But I only have 3G not 4G, don't know if it has to do with the sim or not (borrowed a nano-sim from a collegues iPhone 5s).
But anyhow I would like to have the HTC firmware instead, any ideas?
Maybe someone has another system dump/ruu/firmware or any of the sort I can try. Perhaps the firmware I tried in the other thread also was a demo-firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55107684&postcount=6)

As stated in the OP I have already unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery. CyanogenMod works but very buggy build, and either way I would like to have the original ROM or something close to it (Sense). Unfortunately there are no custom roms for this phone yet (other then CM). I have only found one original TWRP dump that I tried but the demo mode installed itself on that dump as well. I don't know why it installed itself on the original rom from this forum... Thanks

Sorry, my bad.
My understanding is that this is an app so if it's not in the ROM then it cannot run.
There are a few other custom ROM but if you want stock follow this by the letter.

no need for reading the whole thread. in twrp mount preload and by using the twrp file manager navigate to /preload and delete everything you can find inside! do a factory reset and flashing "org" firmware should be done...

I was going to do same thing, but how do you repack ? I mean I packed it with WinRAR, or 7Zip, but they compress the file, or maybe they don't pack it as TWRP format, so TWRP didn't recognise my file. Simply, how do you pack it ?

Open the zip file that you want to flash with any zip manager you like, you don't need to extract the files, just navigate to the folder and delete the .demo folder and it will automatically repack it. Close it and copy it to your phone and flash normally. It will work.
