While rooting allows us to remove bloatware and get better backups, there are couple of other annoying things on the phone that might be fixable.
My first one is audio notification when you plug it into a computer. I know I plugged it in, I don't need to be told. The best that seem possible on a non-rooted phone is setting the default notification to something easily ignored, then resetting every other notification to something else individually.
Stupid Alarm Icon on Status Bar
how about a mod to get rid of the stupid Alarm Set notification Icon on the task bar. I had the phone forever before I finally figured out what it was. I do like the Motorola Alarm and Time app with the ringer that gets louder over time but hate the icon sitting there all the time cluttering up the bar.
i'm sure give it a few weeks and we'll start seeing some ROMs

That's overkill on the order of using a saturn V for signal flare.
Especially given that the 3rd-party ROMs I've used (mostly cyanogen based) had bugs that the stock builds - including this one - don't.
Is there a mod to boost the phones ringer volume? My D1 was super loud, and capable of waking me up for work, but my D3 is so quiet, I sometimes don't hear it ringing.

I'm curious about this as well. My previous android phone could double for a PA speaker but the D3 is a bit on the quiet side. The rom I had installed on my moment easily doubled the ringer volume...

Does anyone else notice the volume steps are a bit coarse?
I mean, on the lowest volume setting I disturb others in a quiet room..
Is there a mod for finer tuning on the volume available?
I feel like I'm the only one who thinks there should be a mod for the device especially because of the dual speakers!
Any input appreciated

Try asking the Rom dev to include it in his Rom, I've did it, renovate has it

I think the main problem is the volume level of the notification files are not all the same. It's annoying when you have volume at the first step, but you'll receive a text and not even hear it, but then an email would come through and it's ridiculously loud! 2013 and we still don't have files that are all the same volume levels

I ran into this nuisance as well. The external speaker volume is much too loud for my tastes, even at their lowest setting. Accordingly, I left my alarm volume at its lowest setting to match, figuring it'd be plenty loud enough. Nope! Slept right through it; didn't wake me up once.
Does anyone else think that the minimum volume is just a little bit too loud and that the minimum brightness is just a little too bright? I'm all for loud speakers, and these are great for that, but for notifications sometimes the tones can be just a bit loud.
Anyone know of any apps or any mods that can help me with this?

The free app called Screen Filter by the dev named "haxor industry" can be used to lower your brightness below the minimum. I use it to dim my screen at night to read Kindle books.
Is it just me or is the touch sounds when making screen selections really really low when using HTC Sense 4.4.2 base roms. I can hardly hear it, I've got it checked under settings/sound and all volumes maxed. I was wondering if there was a mod to increase the sound. The touch sounds work fine if I'm running a GE rom. Not a big deal but would be nice if it was louder.
Thanks
Dennis
yes me too.
im going to try changing them.

Im curious about this too. I've noticed that it "increases" with everything though; notifications, alarms and even playing youtube videos. I wonder if this is a bug to be fixed at some point.

I don't think it's a bug. It is standard behavior on Moto phones. Although it annoys me too.

Really? Granted, I havent had a Moto phone since the original Atrix but I dont remember it happening on that. I dont necessarily care that it increases on ringtones or alarms, its mostly for maybe a half second. The problem is notification tones that are about half a second long that i dont hear.
I love this feature, I hate sudden loud ringtone.

I agree, I kinda like this feature too. Just some food for thought guys - the speakers on this phone are pretty powerful. The gradual escalating volume might be a measure to ensure that the speakers don't blow out.

I too want first ring to be at the setting I choose, not gradual.

If saving the speakers from blowing might be reason this is done, then why isn't it applied to alarms, youtube etc?

I'm not sure, that's a pretty good question. I might be wrong, but maybe Google assumed that 1) YouTube videos are watched at a user-defined volume anyway, so why mess with it, and 2) there are apps that have volume escalation for alarms, and we'll install them if we want them.
Honestly, I have no idea. All I know it's that 1) there are many times when my ring tone volume was all the way up, and an incoming call would be a shock to me, when it started blaring, and 2) my girlfriend is loud as hell, so it's nice to have my phone controlling the initial volume of her voice, lol.

Considering just about every app that has sound doesn't do this I doubt its to prevent anything.
Most phone besides moto have ascending ringtones etc. I'm sure there will be a way to get rid of it eventually
When the ringtone/alarm/notification starts, does anyone else have a brief, less than half second, slightly louder tone play? It almost sounds like a pop before my ringer starts to fade in, but you can hear it's the beginning of the tone, just slightly louder then it goes quiet, and fades in
Edit: just did a little testing, it doesn't always happen, it seems like I could force it if I opened a game (clash of clans) for a couple seconds, then stopped and locked the phone.. then when the ringer starts it does the brief less than half second at a med-low volume, then goes to low and starts ramping up. The next call the ringer behaves normally, starts at low and ramps up.

yes, i get that sometimes.
ok cool, just got the phone last Wed, and with some of the quality issues that have been popping up, I'm trying to rule out any defects before it's too late lol.. great phone so far, just a few weird quirks like this, hopefully they'll get them ironed out in a timely manner.
I don't mind it on my call ringtone, but it is really annoying with my facebook messenger or my text messages. It also doesn't help that if the notifications aren't full volume then I can't hear anything; because the front facing speakers are always up against my leg in my pocket.
Any word on a work around for this yet?
There is an app in the Play store called "disable increasing ring" and it works great

Tried it, not working on my Rooted, unlocked Nexus 6
Any devlopments? I cant stand this "feature" (mainly for alarms).
bump again. Would love to get rid of it. It even does a gradual volume increase when switching from handset to speakerphone on a call. And that's just silly.
Still no solution to this miserable "feature"? Drives me nuts.....
