Many other phones allow you to route the phone earpiece sound to your earphones if they are plugged, while permitting continued use of the the phone mic to speak during a call.
Meaning you could have you favourite music listening earphones plugged in, listen to your music and take calls without having to unplug your earphones.
With the i9000 doesn't do this, which is irritating.
I want to use higher quality earphones, not the stock headset or a stereo bluetooth headset.
Would any one in xda know a work around for this?
Would it be a hardware, software or firmware issue?
(my guess is firmware)
Thanks,
Mtz

The only ones i've seen are the ones by marcelo reis and glemery- which about the Samsung fascinate-.
I've also since reviewed your posts and haven't found much concrete information, only suppositions. People are saying that it -might be- the fact that it's a four pin connector.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with firmware or drivers, if the question hasn't been answered yet.
I'm not especially interested in buying a nokia adapter.
Was there a definitive answer to this question?
I've found this post by marcelo- dated Oct 12th, which leads me to believe it's software issue.

Mr lgkhan, thanks for your non-help and your non-existent 6 month old discussion.

As mentioned numerous times in numerous posts the pinouts are different, two wires are swapped. If you don't want to use a Nokia adapter for your non stock headphones you can always cut your wire and try to re-wire yourself...

I think OP is talking about using a regular earphone - which means left and right only channels. It has nothing to do with the wiring of earphones with 3 lines (L,R,mic)

Thank you. Yes, you are correct.
If Mercelo Reis's post is correct, it would indicate that the problem is not hardware, OS or firmware related. It would be app related, given he has that functionality on the skype app, but not the phone app.
The reason I want this is because I want to use audiophile earphones to listen to music and be able to take calls without having to alter the arrangement. As it stands now, I'm forced to unplug my earphones from the phone to take the call.
I can't get high level audio quality from a headSET or bluetooth. I don't want to be encumbered by a potentially unnecessary adapter.
My friend has a HTC desire that can do this. My brother who has a Nexus with froyo, can't. So, hoping for a fix this way with the new froyo for the SGS seems slim..
I love my current headphones... (not new... not the best... certainly not the worst... Shure E3C's)
What I am looking for is an adapter which provides the music controls (pause / next / previous track) and possibly a mic....
Shure does make an adapter for the iPhone... but I have read that Apple pretty much changed what each lead goes to... so it would most likely not work.
Anyone know of an adapter for the phone?

I have a pair of these, in Shoe Red, they work phenomenally when tied with HTC Music + DroidShuffle, or another of music app that has headset controls built in.

Well I am really more interested in an adapter such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Shure-MPA-3C-Music-Adapter-iPhone/dp/B000UD205K
I have been told the iPhone adapters won't necessarily work on devices other than iPhones since Apple placed leads in different places than industry norm.
Can anyone confirm if this MPA-3C or equivalent works on the Galaxy Tab?
I dont think there is an adapter like that, sorry

Just tried my wife's HTC Wildfire handsfree with mic and I can confirm that it works!
This means any adapter designed for HTC Wildfire should work with Samsung GalaxyTab.
Edit: the model is HTC HS-U350
Been a while since I checked on this thread.
That last link was for the model with an answer end button.. The one I'm interested in has music controls.
Thanks though

Are you sure that works with DIncs? Seems to be specifically for i-products.

As I said, I am not sure if it would work with the DINC, but I would presume it would be workable if the player you use is headphone control friendly. I use PowerAmp paid version and it is listed as an option to enable. In my experience anything listed for the "iCan't" has worked for me other than the charger. I do not have a need for such a product but saw this and hoped it would help. I have seen other brands but none say that they will work for our phone or any other phone because "iCan't" is one standard phone and Android is run on numerous different platforms & devices.
Hi, I ask excuses if the matter has already been treated!
Are The headset for Galaxy S2 and known Galaxy compatible?
I wanted to buy these:
http://www.eastmaze.com/3.5mm-Handsfree-Headset-for-Samsung-Cell-Phone-White--p2964.html
but the seller has said that they are not compatible for the Note.
Are they compatible for many Samsungs among which S2 and others but for the Note no???
A little informed seller?
Thanks
for $3 is it really worth making a thread on here about it

Do you bother opening this thread?
They both use the exact same standard 3.5mm TRS headset connector. Of course it'll work.
The site doesn't say that it's "not compatible", it just doesn't list the note explicitly.

Thank you!
I have the Note from a few days and I come from a HTC.
Do not know the compatibility of headsets. Then should all be compatible, at least the Samsung ... is that correct?
Thank you for the information.
I have a set of iPhone specific Sennheiser MM 70i
I purchased them for my Galaxy S i9000 and had to use a crossover adapter for it to work, today I plugged it in to my Note and found the sound was near perfect without the adapter. Not only that, but the button works properly now (didn't on the i9000) and so I can pause, answer, next track. The volume buttons still do nothing but thats life.
The microphone isn't the loudest in picking up sound, but it works just fine.
So I am wondering, does this mean that Samsung changed the wiring so it works with the iPhone head sets?
Hi,
Does anyone have experience on using the adapter which can output the screen through HDMI and use USB keyboard/mouse? I did some research but still have questions on it. Hope I can get some help here.
1. The product page says it does not support the root ROMs, so that means any custom ROMs cannot use it?
2. Some people said the adapter was working using Andorid 4.1 but stopped working on 4.3.
[Update]
1. I got mine and it worked with the Alliance ROM (Android 4.3, rooted).
2. Works with 4.3.
Here is the one I found on Amazon:

check that one out. I bought this but it didn't seem to work for my note 2. But it worked for my sisters S4. I think phones port is loose so I get glitches when using it. U can also try searching for Samsung smart dock. Buy the official one, it's 61 dollars though :/.
Use the search next time lol

I saw this one but it's different. That's a dock and my link is the adapter. Maybe S4 has 5pin and note 2 has 11pin?

Oh OK I see what you mean. Um I believe so I'd how many pins each has. I forgot haha...and to answer your original questions it says that it does not support root roms but it does. It says that because some roms(AOSP based) don't have the hdmi working.
Android 4.1 worked as long as it was touch wiz. I have a 4.3 room and it works on the dock but it glitches, lags. I have an mhl adapter and it worked better. As long as you're using a touchwiz rom it should work..

Received the adapter today. It works well with HDMI output to my computer's monitor. I didn't experience any lag as some users stated.
I have the wireless mouse/keyboard, and they work at the same time when HDMI is plugged. The "back" button on the mouse works but for zooming you have to use your phone's screen (yes, the screen is turned off but still receive commands).
My 2 cents: the micro USB to the phone could be broken easily, so always connect everything else to the adapter first then plug to the phone. And unplug from the phone first before remove others. My HDMI port is hard to plug in but still works.
Has anyone ever managed to get one of these to work?
I bought one years ago and tried to get it to work with a very clunky old phone - no luck. I've since lost it somewhere, but am wondering if it might be useful to make up for the lack of ir blaster
Anyone have any experience with these things?

Try using zazaremote: open app, configure a remote, there will be a message at the top of the screen saying there's to IR hardware detected - AT THAT POINT you plug in your 3.5mm IR and it should ask you if that's an IR you plugged, say yes... adjust the audio volume to 100% and try it.
Also you need to rotate some of them otherwise there is no contact, this is done so you can keep it plugged into your phone and still have audio through speakers / BT as if it's unplugged...
Please try that I'm waiting to hear if it works for you!

Hope it does. I'm pretty sure I will have lost the one I bought a couple of years back, but I'll have a dig about in my box of phone bits and will report back if I have anything to tell you
Edit:
I was surprised to find it fairly easily. Doesn't seem to work based on a quick check, but I'll fiddle with it and let you know if I have a breakthrough
Actually, these won't work (right)
They will but maybe with complete darkness lol
The trick is to have max volume but you really need an amplifier inbetween your audio jack and this product to have any significant range, I made one myself with a ln386 chip, one end plugs into the USB port and the other end to the audio jack, what it does it turn a led on/off through an app that's basically a soundboard with IR codes

Lumme! Sounds a lot more involved than I'd hoped. Think I'll stick to using the remote control!
Haven't had any luck using a similar product... Looking at the LED through another phone camera it doesn't appear to light up when pressing any function....

Apparently the functionality is limited to some Chinese transit systems and such like - not available or particularly useful outside China so far as I've understood
