Hi guys,
I'm from the UK and am going to be upgrading from my iPhone to an Xperia Z and just have a few questions about this handset:
1) How does the NFC work for making contactless payments? I currently have a Barclays Debit Card which I use for contactless payments and wondered how this works on the phone? Is there an app that I register my card details on?
2) Does it have Live Wallpaper? I have previously used a Nexus phone before and it had live wallpaper on.
3) Is there an app that can sync to a Mac? Samsung has Kies etc.
4) Regarding the "throw" TV out feature - I've used an app on my iPhone to stream an HD video to my Samsung TV and it was as laggy as hell compared to using Apple TV - how quick is the Xperia Z when streaming through DLNA?
Thanks guys.

Uhm, I'm not sure, but I don't think payment by NFC is possible (At least not yet)

To Mac, I'm not sure. When you hook-up your phone to your PC (Windows), the phone gives you an option to install Sony software, with that software you can sync, but I don't know if it works on the Mac. I guess it should.

I haven't heard people complain about it so far, so I guess it should be good.
Haven't used it myself, so I can't comment on it.

Yes it does have live wallpapers. Even the Galaxy Y does. The other questions I can't answer since I don't own the phone YET unfortunately.
EDIT: Try this, should work I suppose. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/bridge-for-mac/

DLNA is very good when I use it with my ps3, but very bad with WD live tv.
You can use imediashare app with Apple tv .

I used to stream from my iPhone to the mac. Was laggy
I'm using double twist which supports airplay so you can stream to airplay devices... And there is no lag so far

Just got my XZ and was playing around in the album. I decided to have a look at the Throw menu option and was pleased to see an option for my Blu Ray Player. So I press it and it ends my viewing of Game of Thrones but then links perfectly via wifi
However, I can't disable this and each time I view something "Throwable" it again interrupts my Game of Thrones How can I stop this now? Short of restarting the phone, as I'm trying to run the battery down to then get a full charge.

Settings -> Xperia -> Throw settings
Perfect
Kinda off topic but, would it be possible to remove just some of the Sony software while keeping others? Or if I were to download a debloated rom, could I then put back some small items like this "Throwing" to Sony devices?
Or does the Sony suite all act together?
I know the media remote for Blu Rays is available in the market, but what of the other stuff?
Any feedback would be appreciated

Haha, we just have to press buttons...
Were we able to do this because our Blu Ray players are Sony? Or is it a standard like dlna?
Also, did you try mirroring your screen? Mine wouldn't connect. On the videos they showed pairing via nfc to a bravia remote, but I don't have a bravia tele so I was hoping to do it via the Blu Ray player.

You'd be amazed how much Sony is contributing to Android in terms of DLNA...
Even on the current android tablets, you can use them as a wifi keyboard to type in the Tv screen, etc
Not only tablets, you can download Sony Media Remote on any android device and use it to type I used it to YouTube stuff on my Blu Ray player on my old x10

Greetings,
Thinking of buying a PS3 DS3 controller for gaming on my Xperia Z, viewing on my Samsung 42inch HDTV via MHL adaptor.
I have searched this forum and Google in general but cannot find an answer to my question.
Can anyone who has the DS3 set up with their Xperia Z tell me this..
As well as using the DS3 for gaming, can you also navigate the Android OS using the controller? Can you use it in non-game apps like YouTube, Play Store, Play Music etc?
Would be cool if I could :good:
Thanks
I had played it only for a while, just for fun and yes, I was completely able to navigate whole OS using DS3. I hadnt checked if it does work with youtube etc, Im guessing it does.

Fantastic, thanks. I just ordered my PS3 controller. Will be interesting to see if it can be used with the apps mentioned.
guyz, whats the Best Live TV streaming app on Android???
There really isn't one that could be considered the best. They are all marginal. Service based apps (home subscription necessary) or a Slingbox or similar device are all that I use. Most apps are Web links or for USA residents, all foreign TV.

TV in streaming was my obsession as I always saw that a kind of mega feature on our devices like the big deal but actually this Apps development are not the biggest one.
After trying many, at this moment I think one of the good one is this one.
I've used filmon live a few times and it's been fine.

I'm curious as well. I wonder if the galaxy S5 has the same issue. If miracast works on the S5, then it could be addressed in a ROM update
lg g2 doesn't have the issue...

come on people. seriously?! XDA can solve the complex "where is my power button" issue, or the "how do I run an app" problem, but it can't help me with a miracast issue? a feature standard in all kitkat androids?
who has a solution or idea? or where can I find a real android forum

I'm also having this problem on an HTC One m7 but it works just fine on an LG 8.3 v500.
Really interested in a possible solution. I've tried various HDCP settings to no avail. Does it have anything to do with HDCP?
What roms have you tried? What kernels? What miracast dongles?
Roms:
viper 6.2.1
slimrom 4.4
Kernels:
stock viper
stock slimrom
I ordered the offical HTC Media Link HD H200 to try out so we'll see how that works.
So far the Belkin ~$50 one doesn't work (HDMI 2.0) returned and can't remember the model. FD something maybe.
Also might be worth trying this (I haven't yet): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13952221&postcount=722
Stock and gpe. Stock 1.651.10 didn't display netflix even though everything else works, gpe 4.4.4 didn't connect to miracast at all. I have the netgear push2tv and my old lg g2 had no problem casting netflix it's just this phone
I've yet to try with 2.x.x.x my miracast dongle is with the rest of my household goods getting speed at the moment
Also what they talk about in that link doesn't seem relevant

The link is partially about DRM from my understanding but yeah I think if its showing on your phone at all, it's not a DRM issue.
Sigh... HTC Media Link HD was a waste of time - couldn't get it to connect at all. Chromecast works perfectly however.
Ordered 2 other miracast dongles to try out but likely won't matter since it's something with the phone.
According to this: http://iezcast.com/bbs-en/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=862 - a firmware update to a dongle seems to have fixed the issue for a nexus 7 user.

HTC Media Link won't show picture from netflix while streaming now since I've updated the os.
Just wanted to add to this a little. I'm seeing the exact same thing on a verizon M8 with the push2TV miracast adapter, and with the miracast functionality built into a samsung TV. Seems like the problem is likely on our end.
Submit a ticket to HTC. Anyone having this problem should.
Any update on this? I modified the build.prop to get miracast working on my Nexus 6, but Netflix still displays a black screen with audio using my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. It works fine on a friends Note 4. What's up?

Had the same problem, if this answer is not too late, found my solution, video plays again from my Sprint HTC One m7 and have another download link for a mod on Netflix's app, raising the bitrate tremendously!!!!

yes
manually Boot an older version of Netflix, turn off auto updates.
I have the same problem with win10 tablet, win 10 laptop, redmi note 2, 3, ulefone power, Samsung galaxy Tab 3 and every other device I could find to miracast Netflix. Everything is ok untill I press play, then...black screen, sound and subs.
I guess it has something to do with Netflix.
Has anyone tried and used Sony remote play
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/ps4-remote-play-t2929147/page231
Does it work well on our nexus 6.
I've used it. It works fantastic when you're on the same network as your PS4. They haven't made it work outside the home yet on Lollipop. Probably won't until Lollipop comes out for the Xperia phones.
I too have tried it, and it does work great!

Yep works great
works flawless after you set it up properly. I use it almost every day
Are you guys able to use the dualshock manager to connect the controller natively, or are you all using sixaxis? Do you still have to double click for R3 and L3?

Thanks guys so am I right to assume what this does is allow me to a game on ps4 on my phone?. I thought it meant I could play all the free games as well, on psn. Wishful thinking I suppose.
