I have this problem: gmail's app sync stopped working properly. Basically, whenever I get an email, I get the "X new mails" notification, but the problem is that what I do on the app is not reflected on my gmail accounts on the PC, therefore maybe it says I have 5 new emails, I actually have just 1 new email. If I archive an email, for example, from the app, I will still get it as new undread message on the PC. I have to redo all the work on the PC in order to get rid of this stuff. On top of that, sending emails stopped working as well, so when I get a notification on my X8 I have to pickup the computer and reply through it. It behaves like that since I restored my backup (wanted to change rom, but I didn't like the new one and restored the latest backup). The fact is that sync is enabled, I tried disabling and activating the sync again, no luck, cleared cache, no luck. Any other idea?
One suggestion is to try other version (latest preffered) of gmail.

Play store.
If you have a custom rom it may cause you this problem
Try to delete the account from the phone

Probably it's time to change it anyway, I would love to have the latest Android 4.2 as I have on my tablet, do you have any suggestion? I need a light ROM with wi-fi/USB tethering to computer/tablet it's very important for me because I often work outdoors and I always need internet. I have a decent internet plan on my x8 so I usually use it to give internet to my computer. The native wifi hotspot on this rom works great on USB, but not too well wifi, so I can't use it on my tablet
So I got the latest MiniCM10 - a great rom, indeed, but the problem is not 100% fixed as now google syncs every hour or so which is annoying... I wish it was like with my old CM7 when it was working

I flashed cm9 n tried to install whatsapp. At the verification process I couldn't receive the code from whatsapp to verify.
Whatsapp recognised that I wasn't running official firmware.
I really like cm9 but I need whatsapp.
I've searched around but couldn't find an answer.
Any idea?

Seems as whatsapp is having (server) problems since a couple of days.
I also don´t get that verification sms on my Galaxy Nexus (Jelly Bean 4.1.1) nor on my old HTC Desire with CM7...i tried to contact the support some days ago but didn´t get an answer yet. I read about similar issues on german Android forums, there are some more people with verification problems.
Before that i was running whatsapp with several custom Roms without problems...so it shouldn´t be a problem running whatsapp with CM9 or any other custom Rom.
.
Alright I'll give it another try later on when I installed cm9 n tried whatsapp it failed to verify. After a while I installed stock firmware and whatsapp had no problem verifying.

watsapp got activated like a charm
you can do onething
insert another sim card (card B)
then using card B,try to activate wtsapp, and enter the number of Card A only
watsapp will try 3-4 times and fail
then it will call you on you card A and let u knw the vrification code
enter it on on your phone
wats app will get activated with the phone code
cool..
wtsapp now activated for sim A with the help of sim B )
now just put in your sim A back into thrle phone
I've never had a problem reinstalling from Titanium. Also use this method to put Whatsapp on my sim free tablet.

I'm having the same verification problem since 10 days. Every time I try to install whatsapp, it tells me that the verification failed and that I have to wait for 2 days until I can give it another try.
As my last attempt was on Tuesday, I will try it again today!
install gb activate on that then go back on cm9 lol
especially if first time on phone and sim combo.

guys is there no fix or workaround for this?
using cm9 stable but it just wont verify
stable cm9 and whatsapp fresh install works without problem for me.
have u tried the titanium backup method? its where u backup whatsapp using tb from a working rom and install cm9 and use tb to restore the app back in.
other ppl in the thread also suggested the sim swapping method.
try them all.

Did you try reflashing the newest GAPPS Apk in the recovery mode ? That worked when my phone had issues with the Google Software...
Good luck

it wouldnt hurt to wipe cache and dalvik cache. if the problem still exists try uninstalling the talkback app via an root uninstaller and then flash newest gapps again.

hi!
my samsung note from vodafone keeps getting error message when trying download or update any apps larger than 7.5mb, when i logged into google play account, the status of those apps were completed. these have been happening for 1 month, since i come back from 3 months holiday overseas. I have factory reset my samsung note when the issues happened, but nothing help.
when i download or update those apps, i would mostly get the error message "package file is invalid" and also "error 911" "error 923". i contacted vodafone and google play support, they checked everything for me and couldn't find any issues between their services and my accounts.
when i shared the wifi to an ipad or a samsung tab, there was no problem downloading on these devices. so the issues are only with my note n7000.
i am wondering if there is any settings that could cap my downloading capacity.
can anyone help me with the issues asap please? it's such a headache!!!
thanks!

I have the same issue! Thought it was just "normal" or Play Store related, not a problem. Hope there's an answer somewhere.
if you have checked all the settings related to APN, clear data, and cache of Google play and play services, also uninstalled updates, wiped dalvik cache in recovery.. still the same issue. once try to delete the google account and re enter it. and check again
Well there are some 3G packs that limit bandwidth. I dont think its a problem of your device when you can download over wifi. Change your sim and try again with another one.

If everything is stock and you didnt tinker with rom/ google apps then try warrantee.
If warrantee/Samsung cant fix it then try philz kernel for your rom. downoload your csc rom (dial *#06#, to get emei).
then dial *#272*youremeihere# then you know what csc and what rom to download.
Now backup fotos, texts etc (no apps or data) and go into recovery mode, on phillz kernel and wipe everything, also in advanced (only dalvik) Go to mounts and format everything (take out sdcard before)
Now head into download mode, confirm and flash the rom via pc odin (dr ketans thread stickied in development section)
It should be working again after this.
all at own risk

Check your connection. I had the same problem, and later found out that it was a problem with my connection. Otherwise, clear data and cache for google play and google freame work, reboot and try clean again, reboot again and then try to connect.
If not, reflash the device.
I have no problems with internet connection gor example xda and browser works great. Do a factory reset solve the problem?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Umm, sorry. When I meant connection, I meant if your internet service provider is blocking the ports that google play needs to work. That happened to me and I could not downlod anything, update or something else. But internet, browsing worked.
Try to connect to a hotspot around the city, otherwise, do as I told you earlier. Clear the cache for google play store and google framework.
Ok I cleared chache rebooted my phone, still having error. Tried another wifi, nothing changed. But wft is google framework? Sorry I am hungarian and I am not the best at problem solving...

More info on this issue here:

and here;
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-note-2/246342-google-play-store-app-doesnt-work.html
You will find there more detailed info but the advice will be the same. Again, try to connect to a public hotspot, not just another wifi connection you have in your vicinity. It could be a port issue.
Still nothing. But any apps from google.doesn`t work like gmail. I think there is a problem with my account but from desktop everything worked. I`ll try more wifi tomorrow.

3. Reboot

Gosh -- yeah, I had that once as well. Let me guess: some custom ROM? Some IP addresses of Google servers had changed, but were hardcoded here in the hosts file. So all apps went nowhere when looking for those servers. Commenting out the corresponding line(s) did it for me back then.
