When was the last time you restarted the phone?
Let the phone cool down, then restart and then play the game again to see if heats up again..
Please let us know

Are there other problems like death grip. Just try it on your phone.

Yes I can confirm there is a Death grip for Wifi, when you hold the phone tightly on top side it lose wifi signal upto to 30%
you can download free app "Network signal info" turn it on and turn on wifi and tightly hold the phone from top side so you can cover from sim try to volume button sude tightly, but generally very less people hold it like that way

starting to loose my mind, here
all freaking phones have death grip if you cover them

Yup. I don't see what the big deal. Just don't squeeze your phone the same as you do when you choke the chicken and everything will good.
This thread needs to be locked, and this subforum needs serious cleaning and moderation. Too many immature and childish threads, posts and topics.

Not to push you over the edge ( ) but 30%'s a pretty big drop. What it means depends on other things besides the device that's actually being tested like the specific router, channel interference, distance, and signal strength/continuity. So the report of one 30% drop, which could end up being above or below average, does not a crisis make. There are even Wi-Fi complaints on the forums of devices that are known for their stellar Wi-Fi performance. But "death gripping" a N2 drops the signal about 10%. HTC's choice of aluminum and the One's antenna placement and configuration were bold choices. Don't kill the messengers if it turns out that there are consequences. And with so few in the wild it's way too early to jump to any conclusions. Forgive the crappy video quality, it's from a tablet.

Hey I ask question because I am planning to buy HTC One ...
And yes I am using HTC One X+ right now and I am having lot of problem with heat ... And I am a gaming person ... &
I notice with Samsung run little cool than HTC during game palying ...
So I want to know whats a deal with HTC One...
OK one more time for those who has a HTC One ...
Can you please tell me do your phone back got hot during game play...
If yes can you please tell me temperature after playing game for just 15 min to 20 min....
Thank you

30% is not what could be close to death, is it?

I've yet to come across a phone that is not susceptible to RF attenuation when being handled.
The mobile network antennas are always at the bottom of the phone, and are always attenuated to an extent by your own hands when holding the phone. Same goes for the wifi/bt and gps antennas at the top of the phone.
Just how it is, and how it'll always be until such a point we humans stop blocking signals around the frequency ranges currently in use!

HTC Dream Defects

Hi guys,
I was going to buy a used HTC Dream and I was wondering what defects or problems I should look for. So far I've read about people hearing buzzing during calls and squeaky cases. Obviously I would check if the phone would boot and make calls but I'm not sure what else could be wrong with it. Thank you.
I've had no problems with mine other than it squeaked when I got it like you mentioned. But that is easily fixed with an exacto knife and 30 seconds.
Defects? i have had no problems whats so ever with my phone since i have been having it...sound quality might be off but thats because of poor signal though
memory card comes loose all the time. sometimes from slight movement, sometimes from slamming the screen closed to fast. sometimes when sitting on the counter and nothing at all is touching it. this is a problem because if you have apps2sd and swap it will crash the phone and corrupt certain apps.
also my D and F keys are going out. The chin is a horrible design "feature". An attempt to make it look more like a phone but it just makes it hard to press buttons while it's on the table.
the amount of ram reported in specs is missleading. in other phones HTC makes they dont count the radio chips ram in the spec.
battery is pretty small. most people opt for the 2400MH one which makes the thing huge.
there is no 3.5mm jack. (wtf mates)
lots of wasted space on the front of the phone that could be used for more screen space.
the chin doesn't slide with the screen making a large block on the right side of the keyboard that makes it hard to type.
The price I pay for android
Sliding mechanism gets loose after a while
Poor battery life, no matter what you say.
Backlight on the keyboard is a tad bit uneven.
It doesn't dance the way I want it to.
Sometimes you can pop the SD card door off, which is annoying.
Strange camera that takes either fairly good pictures or absolutely terrible ones.
I can't run Crysis on it.
It causes you to have OCD and constantly update ROMs and be completely obsessed with it trying to make it better until the point you no longer have a social life and your one and only friend is your G1, then you finally brick it.

I gotta disagree with the chin.. I think its pretty awesome... ugly... but oh so useful... I've dropped my phone at least a dozen times and not a single scratch on the screen because the chin elevates the screen above the ground so its actually very hard to scratch the screen from dropping it ;D

ugly? i think it gives the phone character. like it says to other phones "i will kill you and eat your children and lick their blood off my chin because i have chin."
I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but from day one I found that the outer keys traveled further, and the inner keys (on the keyboard) didn't travel nearly as far. It's kinda annoying, as the outer keys feel nice to use >.>
But yeah other than that: battery life, my sdcard door had to be glued back on and the screen creaks on the bottom right corner (exacto knives ftw). It's still a damn good phone.

Haha, the final part of your quote is true. If it's your only friend, and you brick it, well, you're a loner.
As for my HTC Dream, it's great. The battery life is poor though, I wish I could tweak it to "Supah High Energy Saver" Mode, I have to recharge it twice a day (one via USB at school, and one on AC at home).

I am sorry, but I do not believe that unless you are maybe browsing with 3G off, Wi-Fi off, Bluetooth off along with the display brightness at the lowest it will go. Then maybe. Why? Because I don't even use the internet for 2 hours a day, that is a lot and I still have to recharge at the end of the day. 3 days is what people using 2400mAh extended batteries are getting out of their phone.

Me too. Same keys. I have to practically MASH my f key down to get it to register lately. My D key works when I try using *just it*, but if I'm typing quickly it never does and then when I go back and press it, it seems to work with no problem.
Also, my DEL key is starting to go. ]
It also drives me nuts, when I'm typing, that the phone isn't vertically more symmetrical.
i can narrowly get 3 days out of my G1 with a 2400Mah bat, the stock battery is good for a day thats it.
the good part about the 2400 Mah bat besides the excellent bat life is that it makes the phone so large its much easier to type on the keyboard afterward IMO

dude. any phone. and i mean any phone, will lose signal bars when you hold in close to the antenna. they just made a big deal out of it for apple because the death grip made the phone lose all the bars and signal.
you shouldnt worry about this. and hold it the normal way you do it. if there is drop calls, you are good to go. period
thanks
will having a rubber case help reduce it? although i haven't seen a capdase or any rubber/silicone case yet for the LG Optimus 2x
You're right, mine drops one bar
sometimes this causes me to miss receivig text messages on time (they comein 45 to 1 hour delayed)
that's why i'm hoping getting "bumpers" will help prevent this.
As long as you still have the signal at acceptable level it should not matter if it's 3 bars or 2 bars. It's not like better signal will make you talk faster

The other issue with Apple's Death Grip was how the antenna was designed. If you had your finger on the wrong spot, you conduct the antenna to itself and it goes X_X
thanks, although there were ocassions (rare ones) that my signal totally went out. but my issue is not receiving text messages on time 1 or 2 late on moderate times when i'm playing with the phone.

Nexus 7 Screen separation Fix

Here it is! Just got my Nexus 7 but a really bad surprise waited me. As soon as I opened the box, I experienced the "screen separation" issue that a lot of people had. I tried to look on the web for a real permanent fix as Google's supply are not able to bet me an exchange/RMA that would not require to open the back of the device. I had tried to get the screws tighten without success, I also tried to put spacers in between the screws without success also.. :crying:
I read a lot about fixing this issue; one was explaining how to make the CPU/GPU running and generating heat to get the glue to hold the screen and case together. So I was sitting there watching my battery temp going up to 32-35C/90-95F as my meal was in the oven at 190C/375F. Then I got this great idea. I stopped the stress test, put the tablet in power off state and placed it face down on TOP of the hot spot of the oven; in between the two front elements. I put weigh on top of it and waited about 30-40 min. After that period, I started "Stability Test" available on the Play Store to get the battery temp that was around 47C/115F. I stopped the oven and let it sit for the night face down with weigh on top of it to cool it off. Next morning, surprise! The screen was finally glued. I had no screen seperation since then. It's now being my 5th day without any problem.
Conclusion : FIXED !!
Let me know if that worked for you as well !
A heat gun would probably be easier and safer, glad it worked though.

Interesting idea, hadn't heard that one before. Of course, different stoves will have different hot spots from the oven, so YMMV. How much weight did you put on top of it? Also, do you happen to have a way of measuring how hot the spot gets?
I'd be interested to see if this is a truly permanent solution or if the adhesive starts to break down again after a few weeks or months.

I placed my hand over and touched it.. If the "hot spot" was couple of degres higher, I wouldn't be able to let my hand sit there.. I was at the limit.. For the weight, I used casino's pot full of change.. 2x 8 pounds..

Good to know. Different people seem to have different thresholds for heat (for instance, I remember as a kid I couldn't keep my hands under the same water my mom used to wash dishes), but the spot on my stove doesn't seem to run as hot as you described, so I'd be willing to try it if I run into this issue on my replacement.
All in all, though, I like this idea a lot. There's always a risk, but I'm sure the devices are stress tested with the CPU running at temps hotter than you could reproduce using this method (short of actually putting it inside the oven). As long as you can hold your hand on the spot without it getting too unbearable, I would think it's pretty safe to try.

shocking discovery- missing screws in nexus 7
Long story short:
1st device from best buy : scar like dead pixels, exchanged for second
2nd device from best buy: loose screen/ seperation
Got 3rd device from staples hoping it is better, noticed screen noticeably yellower, minimal seperation problem.
At my last resort, opened up the 2nd and 3rd device, found 3 screws missing from the right side when faced down(or left when screen is up). While the 3rd device is missing one,
. I am so shocked this is happening....no wonder my screen is so loose.
I m a first timer with android device. Own an iphone . Gotta say jelly bean and even the nexus 7 itself is spectacular. But what is with Asus? Have google picked the wrong partner. Or is it is pure poor quality control. Unbelievable.

Okay, so just to make sure what you people do:
1. Heat up the oven
2. Find the hotspot
3. Switch oven off, wait until hot to touch (that'd be a bit over 60C)
4. Switch unit off
5. Put the unit on the hot spot with about 16 pounds (8 kilos) of pressure on top (really?)
6. Wait until it has cooled down naturally
Am I missing anything? How has the fix held for you so far after a month or more?
Thanks, :cyclops:
Did not work for me.
I heated the device to 80C with a hairdryer, then pressed it with clamps (force equal to about 9kg) for about 7 hours.
Separation came back about 1 hour after I released the clamps without turning the device on.
Too bad, as I have no way to exchange it.
I guess I'll just use the case.
5 minute epoxy (or any glue one's comfortable with) is the way to go. The problem is obvious once the bevel is removed - the glue on the left side on my device had cured without holding the glass. Hard to believe heating and pressing would work at all.

[REF][POLL] Nexus 4 Issues [UPDATED 11/30/12]

Here's a place to gather issues as you come across. Comment with additional issues as needed.
If you're happy, vote here.
Buzz from earphone speaker
- May be due to poor shielding. Some may be able to hear the frequency, some may not. 666FFF summed it up the best "...It's such a low crackle/hiss sound. You really need to press the phone against your head and be in a quiet room to hear it. Ambient sound is much louder. My only worry is if it is using battery constantly..."
Tell Google about it here. LEDs tend to produce a lot of noise, and with such a high density battery in the device, there could be some resonance occurring (since it buzzes/crackles all the time, but seems less so when in deep sleep).
[UPDATE] Seems it is a mfg. defect. Some people with their replacement phone/friend's phone have commented on it being fixed. However, others have reported the replacement is worse. So...buyer beware. If anyone knows how to figure out the batch number of our phones, maybe we could track it that way?
"Unreasonably" hot device
- The thermal conductivity is much higher in glass than plastic. I wouldn't worry about it.
Poor battery performance
- Give it a few charge cycles...Got 5 hours screen on, 20 hrs on, 5% left yesterday on first charge! Also disable location tracking via WiFi, and disable Google Currents auto-update.
Poor touchscreen sensitivity
- Not sure. Screen protector?
Feedback when plugged in.
- It's a ground loop. Google it and fix it.
Easy scratching/cracking
- Doesn't make much technical sense (http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/sites/all/files/GG2 PI Sheet Rev b_050912.pdf), but perhaps things are cracking due to high thermal gradients (GG2 has a lower coef of expansion than GG1, so not sure why that would be the case...perhaps the thinner material?).
When has an Android phone gotten more than a day with moderate use? RAZR Maxx doesn't count.
But yes, I have noticed it getting very hot especially when charging. Probably because it is glass.

I get 2 with a crappy myTouch Q.
The thermal conductivity of glass is 5-10x greater than plastic, so I would think glass is the culprit.
Add rattle and yellow tint.
And touchscreen unresponsiveness.
The speaker make some noises - also if it is not in use. Hold it near to your ear and you can hear it. (pls test it). It crackle low.
Is there a bug report or something?
If your going to make an issues list please make sure you take into account how many phones have this issue.
I dont have any of these issues, and the battery 'issue' is not an issue at all. I am waiting for someone to pipe up about a rattle:laugh: that can only be heard when shaking to phone near your ear!
Also take into account some issues phone may have will be faulty devices. A standard manufacturing fault rate is <3% however most are happy with <5%.

2. Don't have this
3. Mine is centered perfect. Keep in mind production is never 100% perfect so there's bound to be misalignment on occasion.

It should be noted that the most typical reason for a slight rattling in a smart phone is an auto-focus camera sensor/lens. This is an "issue" that seems to plague all smart phones with auto-focus cameras.

Nexus after 3 weeks usage.

Well here is my few thoughts about the device.
Had the phone for about 3 weeks now, didn't use any sort of bumper or a case only a screen protector(s). And to be honest there ate issues that have evolved over time.
1. USB: when cable is connected and I gently move it up and down, port was clicking. Its like USB isn't glued properly inside and its coming off with every up/down move. This has now resolved, but instead when I gently press top and bottom part of the phone exactly where the USB port is, the phone is crackling.
2. Parts of the phone frame have started to crackle (or whatever the word ia) as well. E.g left top corner exactly where notification bar is
3. Power button is starting to wear off. Its harder to press and it starts to make funny sounds when pressed .
4. Not sure but I think I have yellowish tint at bottom part of the screen but it might be my eyes. Than again my eyes are quite ocd when it comes to stuff like that.
No other issues , no scratches, dents etc. It just feels that phone lost sturdiness ....
Will continue to update as new things emerge...
No other issues present at the moment

Will continue to update as new things emerge...
No other issues present at the moment

Those are all manufactures defects and should be covered by LG's warranty of a year if they become bothersome. I know my USB port makes the same noise.

1. I often wonder why anyone wanna wiggle the USB cable when it's connected. Do you do that with your laptop's USB cable, too?
2. Mine does not crackle.
3. Mine does not make funny noise when pressed.
4. My LCD is the same. Bought the screen adjust apps by Francis and the yellow tint is almost gone.
Been using since 19th Nov. Got my diztronic tpu case yesterday.

I have the two issues in bold. I thought I was just hearing things but yeah there's a clicking sound when I move the USB cable connector while it's plugged in.
Also have noticed a yellow hue in the bottom left corner of my screen since day one. Thought it would fade away but it's still there. Not a huge deal but it's definitely a bit odd.
I've had mine for a few weeks, and I'm not going to lie I get scared sometimes to squeeze the edges of the phone just in case I hear a crackle or squeak. I'm super ocd so Itll bother me knowing I have it even though I don't always feel it lol

If his experience reflects 0% of the population then all of the other threads started by others and comments from others still, in those threads should be closed by mods because they are obviously fake and classify as trolling. HOWEVER if maybe, JUST MAYBE the OP and the exceptionally high margin of other posters in the N4 forum are actually stating the truth about their experience with the obvious and even Google acknowledged (just call support like I did and they'll tell you they've gotten many calls from similar claims) then you sir are the troll and of the worse breed of trolls... The defensive, any complaints about Google or anything slightly related to Google cant be valid kind. Don't be a defensive sheep especially when your fellow tech nerd has a bad experience with a device that he payed $400 for. Honestly iSheep AND sheepdroids are equally annoying.
Well Ive had my N4 for about 2 weeks and heres my review...its perfect and I love it...No issues, yellow tint...noises...or etc...just a simply amazing device....Love it....

I didn't do it on purpose at first. I sleep with my phone next to me (use sleep time app so has to be next to me) and heard it pence when I was moving the phone but closer. And then a clicking sound from USB was showing on slight pressure put on the end of the cable ...
But I'm happy with the phone ... I'll wait few more months and if nothing new will show I'll ask lg to fix it as per warranty ...
Phone is still amazing and I love the looks of it.

I too don't like the feel of the power button. Could be a potential problem down the road. Apart from that no major issues (knock on good).

Mine does not make clicking sound when wiggled.
You should RMA it.
This issues make me feel justified in not buying the nexus 4 I have never been a fan of LG quality always been suspect. Theres a reason why they are in financial trouble and no one likes their phones. People complain about Samsungs plastic build but the phones are quality in every aspect

Ive had a lot of phones, mostly lgs and samsungs. to me I feel like they are both built very similar actually, in general ive felt that lgs buttons are better built, but when it comes to software samsung is ahead though that isnt an issue here.
I'm very happy with mine. I've got the usb thing happening, but I don't have problem with it

LG sold 10 million of these models.. Not talking about just Nexus but Optimus L models and they are now even working on their own chip. I do not think they are doing so badly..
With regards to your crying, it is not so much that people do not want to hear about issues. It is the fact that many people including myself think some of these things are not issues at all. I also wonder why you are in this forum if you do not want or like this phone? What is your reason? To agree with people who complain and to defend them?
A clicking usb? I have not wiggled my usb and with normal usage I don't. Perhaps it is built to wiggle or have a little give so it does not break. I don't know but this does not seem like an issue. Also, if you are not hearing any creaks with normal use than it is not a real problem. If you are putting the phone next to your ear and squeezing it all over than stop.
My phone is perfect. No yellowing, no creaking, no usb clicking, no mysterious cracks or scratches. I am so happy and the build quality is amazing as are many of LG'S products.

The only issue I've had so far is a bit of yellow tinting after extensive usage/screen on time, which is far from a deal breaker for me. I am BEYOND pleased with this phone - especially compared to the current flagships from other OEMs. It's not perfect, but I've yet to use a smartphone without it's own set of issues.

There are a few kernels that have color adjustment built in, like Motley's, so you don't have to use color adjust apps.
But those apps can be used on any kernel thus provides you more flexibility.
Your choice.
