C6603 /Unlock Bootloader
I have the Xperia Z with unlocked bootloader. I don't know what I did. I think I flashed the wrong file using the Flashtool on the mac. I have been having trouble with my Xperia Z on the .253 firmware. It still thinks its on the old firmware and tries to update and then it fails.
I couldn't get rid of the message, so I used Root Delete (or something like that) to just *hide* the app, but then I decided to try a default .253 ROM and it didn't have the 4G/LTS like mine did, so I tried to replace the ROM using the DE Generic one, and that was fine, but it was missing some apps. So I thought I'd use my CWM backup on my SD card. For some reason CWM was missing.
I wanted to install CWM, but I did it from within the Flashtool, rather than ABD then Flashtool from Terminal.
So, it ended up just sitting on the Sony screen. Not what I wanted. Tried to get it to play nice....nuda!
Therefore I have just finished flashing back the 10.1.1.A.1.253 DE Generic/Unbraded .tft file and it's rebooted nicely.
Now what I'm going to do is work a way to get the CWM back on there. I really want that to try and restore my ROM to the original factory and just use Root Delete to "hide" the update from my sight.
[SITUATION] Now resolved back to a working Xperia Z.
[SECRET] Use the Power+UP key combination for 10 seconds until you feel 3 consecutive vibrations. Download a Generic ROM. Install using Flashtool~!

Hi. No, I sent it for repairs. The single worst thing I probably did was trying to turn it back on after it got wet. i wish I just turned it off and kept it off.

This is bad advice: do not turn it back on or plug it in after water has gotten inside the phone. I killed it by trying to turn it back on right after i saw moist in the inside of the camera lens. It turned on for a few seconds and showed the xperia logo before turning off dead.
Do not risk short circuiting it. Let it dry for a while before you turn it on or plug it in.
Regardless, mine got replaced but I will not submerge it in water anymore.
Edit: just so you understand what I went through, I tried every single piece of advice that I could find to dry the inside. After a few weeks I just had to give up and take it to repairs.
Note: if the damage was caused by the back panel coming unglued I recommend to document this problem when you bring your phone in. It is a known problem but it helps with service centers that will go straight forward to blaming you for the water damage. I printed this whole thread and the links contained in here, put it in a folder and discussed it with the repair center.

Yes. Tried it. Also tried the dehumidifier christals. Nothing.
It all depends on the extent of the water damage but it does not really matter if you short circuited the phone before trying to dry it.

Hey guys!
Today my Xperia Z (on .350) seemingly died. When not plugged in absolutely nothing works. When plugged in to the charger it goes in a red LED loop where it does the usual charging vibrate, then waits a few seconds, then vibrates three times. After that it shuts down and just starts again.
Does anyone have experience with this particular issue? I couldn't find anyone mentioning these exact conditions.
Cheers!
Ambroos
Did you tried pcc or sus?
Why you still on 350? It has a sudden death issue.

Yep, phone just doesn't do anything over USB, no fastboot, no flashboot, just the same as the charger.
I was on 350 because I work with Sony Mobile on a project and got my phone (a retail sample) from them. Update wasn't available and I didn't want to screw around with FTF's to avoid problems. We have a long weekend so I can't reach any of them 'till monday and would like to have a working phone by then.
If you have an external sd,remove it and try.

Tried, didn't help...
I'm having the same problem, red led loop with 3 vibrates once the phone gets power to it. it wont turn on or show anything from the screen. Before this happened, the back camera had dew on the inside and the screen was flickering quite a bit before this problem occurred. i've opened the back of the phone (removed glass cover) to make sure there was no moisture inside. i'm hopeing it only needs something replaced inside of it. any help on this issue would be muchly appreciated
I got this problem also anybody have a way to fix this?
have you tried to flash a ftf from flashtool?

Did u perform rooting? unlocking BL? flashing roms ?
either ways....getting your phone is one worst thing....
It is very hard to brick an Xperia device nowadays.
You sure is not just out of juice? Sometimes it can be that the battery suddenly dies and you have to leave it charging a lot of time to turn it back to life.
Locked or unlocked bootloader?
Flashtool should do the job in case of soft brick. Or even EMMA in case you are unlocked.
Does it get detected by the PC?

can you flash only the stock kernel from fast boot mode? i once had the same issue when the device failed to start with red led blink, and flashing the kernel fixed this issue.
You bought the phone with unlocked bootloader? Was it used? Else I think you're confusing unlockable and unlocked.

Any news? My Z died most likely because I messed with terminal emulator (tried to get rid off CWM bootloop the easy way ) and it didn't boot up ever again... Only thing I get out of it is red led when pressing power and vol+ when usb is connected. Computer sees it as a usb device but cannot connect to it. No fastboot or flash mode. I'm going to send it for repairs but it will probably be too expensive to get it done.
I already got htc one to replace Z. One sounds awesome! Incredible speakers for a phone. It is fast and sweet. BUT it looks STUPID when you put Z and One side by side... And no waterproofness of course

So sony sucks globally when it comes to customer care?! Have to try it my self. I've heard that finnish service company is very very good at what they do... Even if your phone has a 50 cal bullet hole smack in the middle they'll blame water/moisture damage. If you manage to convince them to actually look at your device they'll send it to some Euro main service central where it will be sucked in to a wormhole and time around that phone seems to stop
update:
SBE fault : charging - does not charge
Status : With High Level Engineer - Component Repair
update:
sbe have said the phone is unrepairable and are going to exchange it for another one.
Wow this took some time...
Almost two months it took:
1. Sending device to finnish service center
2. It was sent to sony service right away
3. after waiting and waiting I asked finnish service whats going on: Atleast their version was that sony had fixed (or replaced with a new device) and sent it back to finland. And during shipping device was lost.
4. According to finnish service sony was figuring out what to do, propably giving new devices....
5. So after almost two months I got a replacement XZ. And it was done under warranty. Yay!
My Xperia Z started to act weird from two days ago, when it started to vibrate during all the time.
I restarted the phone, discharged the battery and recharged it again but it does not help me at all. It keeps vibrating even when the phone is turned off and it seems that it will never stop.
Did you guys had any similar issue?
Plzzz somebody help me:crying::crying::crying:
Did you tried a hard reset?(hold power and Vol Up at least 15 seconds)
And if i understand right, it vibrates too if you shut it down, or only from boot on?

No,not immersed in water.
I now that it seems crazy but the problem started in my pocket when the phone was together with my bio-metric passport for a couple of hours. Maybe it s caused from the chip of the passport?!
I want to share another fact with you:
Always before having this issue when I was pressing the phone from both sides with two fingers close to the menu button it starts vibrating but stops immediately after releasing it. I don't know if it happens to all Xperia Z mobile phones.
Thanks

Doesn't happen on mine.
Maybe you should Send it to a Service Center or go to the shop where you bought it and ask for warranty. Did you Already tried to re-flash Stock Rom using FT?
Try flashing an old 4.1.1 one, it could be the NFC sensor. The downgrade will Also downgrade the NFC software. It may help.
If I should upload mine 4.1.1. ftf, just ask.

no, NFC does not interact with vibrator motor. That two devices is so separated
Sony must replace your phone in any reason. That's definitely sony fault.
Just had the same problem, My sony Z is a repaired one just over a month old. It is Always in a Leather Case. Just 15 min ago the Phone just started vibrating (thought it was a call) non stop. Turned the Phone off but didn't stop. Turned it on again but nothing changed.
meanwhile searched the web for solutions, only thing i could find that it was hardware related.
Since the Phone is little to big for my pocket i thought it could be from flexing the Phone or something like that. So i put it back in it's case, and put it flat on my hand and gave it a firm tap on the back with my other hand. The 2nd try was succesfull and the Phone stopped vibrating.
Checked if normal vibration still works and found no problems.
My experience with the latest Phones is getting worse with every model they (HTC / Sony) release. Feels like the phones suffer more and more from stupid (hardware) problems. Looks like the Urge of releasing a new model every half year is showing its flaws...
Mine vibrating too and getting worse!
The store guy told me it was the cover I had it in. Bollocks. The cover has been off for two weeks and still it vibrates! Seems to be worse if I charge it via a USB charger in my car. Related perhaps? I just tried the suggested holding down of power and volume and it has stopped vibrating. Fingers crossed! Glad I'm not the only one but need a fix
same thing here. my phone is vibrating RIGHT NOW!
my z3 is dual sim model the D6633. only 2 weeks old.
the phone first stop working on the touch screen. phone would not react to any finger. so when its locked, i can use the camera button to wake up and take pictures. still will not respond when i touch it.
then the phone getting warm at top area near the headphone.
so i google it how to turn off z3 with button, so i did, power+ volume
when phone turn back on, no screen. only a black screen with back lighting on. i can tell when i put phone right infront my eye.
then the phone start vibrate!!! none stop vibrate.
at this moment, i CAN turn off the phone with power+ volume but WON'T stop the vibrate.
really need a help, im in US and purchase this Z3 from NEWEGG and it is a DUAL SIM model, can i get warranty in SONY retail store????
GOD! why me
vibration problem
Hello,
I had the same problem.
Sony claims that there products are waterproof.
We as customers like that and want to try it out.
Maybe not in a swimming pool but at least clean it under de faucet.
That should be no problem, it is waterproof right!!!
After a while this vibration problem occur to your device.
Because none of these solutions help to stop this problem I decide to open my Xperia Z2.
My surprise was that I saw very small tracks of water inside!
Then I put it in the hot sun while it was open en the problem disappeared.
My conclusion:
It is NOT waterproof en a small short circuit causes the vibration problem.
I plugged charger cable into my phone tonight and the phone restarted, it then loaded up to the o2 logo screen which displays for a few seconds and then it reboots, it keeps doing this until i hold down volume up and the power button and it vibrates 3 times.
If i switch it back on it repeats the cycle of rebooting.
Anyone got any ideas ?
It also doesn't appear to charge if i plug a charge cable into it and when i connected the USB from the phone to my laptop with the phone on it made the laptop power off
Any help appreciated i tried xperia support but they weren't much help

Thanks for the reply, i left the phone on for a bit and it no longer is stuck in a loop, it just flash's red light 3 times.
Nothing works to make it switch on and nothing happens if i plug it in to charge ?
doe's anyone know how i go about getting it repaired under warranty, Sony's on line help was less than helpful.
I got the phone from the car phone warehouse back in Feb, but my experience from my last phone going wrong is they don't want to fix it under warranty and find any reason to get out of it, also just read my insurance document and it states it won't replace/repair the phone if it should still be under warranty
How can a phone provider refuse warranty replacement of a clearly screwed up device? That's ridiculous

Well I have found that the original charger cable is faulty, hence why it isn't charging!
I have used a new cable and if I use SUS to try and fix the phone then it will show a blue light...but then states that it can't find a driver for S1Boot Fastboot ? :silly:
Any ideas what this driver is and how to install it or is SUS meant to install the driver and my phone is to broken for it to recognise it ?
Thanks :good:

Go on the Sony website and organise a repair through them, It will be much faster and you don't have to deal with Carphone WH at all!
Just fill in a form or chat to someone online and they will give you the address to send it to free post.
Package it up and you can track it.
I wouldn't open it up but it sounds to me as if the battery is not connected or present, ive fixed a few Xperia Zs and if you remove the battery and plug it in the boot loop goes on and on.
As long as you haven't opened it, the white stickers under the flaps have not gone pink, its not physically damaged, you have not rooted it AND its still under warranty.... they should replace it!
If its your fault and you damaged it I think they charge £14 to return it or destroy it, whichever you prefer.
Good luck
Two days ago, my Xperia Z was on 1% battery, so I put it on charge. A few hours later, I go back to my phone, which had now turned off. I couldn't turn it back on, and I've also tried all the reset/hard reset ways. I left it on charge a bit longer (which all in all turned out to be 11 hours), still no success of turning it on. I took the charger out, then put it back in, which resulted in the red indicator light to come on (not flashing) for a minute, then switch off. But I still couldn't turn it on.
The battery is non-removable, which kind of sucks.
I've had my phone for about a year now.
I've read about this Sudden Death thing happening to the Xperia Z phones after the new software update, I don't know how true that is.
Apparently Sony has released a software update which MIGHT fix Sudden Death, but the thing is, because my phone is dead, PC Companion (updates your phone) won't detect my phone for update! So how can that even be possible?
Put a rubber band across it so that power and vol up are permanently pressed. Charge it that way for several hours and try again booting it
Look in the other thread about the same...seems like it has more importance than yours.. Hopefully you will get it working
My advice is just to leave it in the charger for some time... And hopefully it will work at some point

It didn't work, unfortunately.
I eventually sent my Xperia Z to Sony for repair. I have received an email saying that their engineers could not repair it, and have sent out a like for like exchange handset which I should receive in a few days.
that happen to me today, brought it in and there is a reset button right next to the sim card...very tiny, hard to see, use a pin and push it in...should reset afterwards...mine did ...hope that helps
Flash it
Hard reboot your phone and then flash a firmware using Flashtool if required. I have run into issues like this with my Xperia Z few times.
