I'm not talking about WiFi.
Look at the sticker on the box, near the IMEI code.

Ha ha, sorry, my bad......801n is mine.
Mine is Silver and it says 801n
AW: [Q] 801e or 801n
Have a 801n too. (silver, o2 germany)
I think the difference is LTE.
n=LTE
e=no LTE
Can someone confirm this?

From the website http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=4209&c=htc_one_801e_32gb_htc_m7 and http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=4248&c=htc_one_801n_32gb_htc_m7
It seems the 801e doesn't have LTE support and only 3G.
801n has both 3G and LTE support.
Hope it helps.
If the above info on pdadb are correct. That only means there's 3 types of HTC One.
1. LTE version
2. HSPA+ version
3. CDMA version
So does that mean the LTE version is a world phone?
And this here list is compatible in just the 801n model?
LTE:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
US (Sprint): 1900 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 Mhz
I have the 801n, in the USA on ATT - HSDPA works, but no LTE. So i am guessing the PDADB info is wrong. I am guessing this is the European model and does not have US LTE bands.

Indeed. US hasn't released the HTC One yet. But just keep it first. When the US version is available already just flash a US version RUU and it should then support US LTE.

Unless the EMEA LTE and ATT LTE versions have the same SKU with only a software block of radio bands, that isn't happening.
RUU flashes do not magically add radio bands that aren't supported by the phone. All they might be able to do is unblock the radio bands that are hidden.
Mine is a 801N also - 32gig silver model - Ireland.
Even though LTE isnt released in ireland yet looks like my phone is able for it
801e, is the Taiwan version also knows as M7_U
801n is the European version which is the M7_UL.
Both version support LTE just different bands.
Is there a way to check to model number on the phone itself?

I got my M7 from O2 store . Is the 801n version but no option for LTE. In the bands have only 3 options : GSM/WCDM,GSM, WCDMA. No option for LTE. Also my CID is 02_001. Could be that bloody O2 modified the ROM and disabled LTE?!
Weird phone
Ok, on my phone I have sticker saying PN071000 and 801n. . In recovery says M7_UL (LTE version).
However, went onto HTC's check site and got this :
Depending on your query to provide the IMEI number information is:
Model: HTC One (801e)
Release date: 2013/06/24
Thank you for your continued support for HTC, in order to improve the quality of our services,
Soo... confused as hell!!! This somehow explains why I don't have LTE option in Settings under Network mode...
How can this be real? Recovery & stickers are saying opposite as HTC site... Could somehow the phone be messed (very unlikely as have it always with me)???
UPDATE: Just SIM unlocked my M7 and the LTE option appeard. So it's O2's "management" which disabled LTE. But still unsure about various results , what model I realy have (see above)...
Hi everyone,
I'm also terribly confused about this and i'm glad i found a thread concerning this issue. I do not have my HTC One box anymore. How would i go about to verify if it's 801n or 801e and if LTE is available, etc, etc. Please guide this newbie. I just bought my phone a couple of days ago and i want to confirm what hardware i bought exactly. I initially thought all hardware was same for HTC One. :silly:
I have just been in contact with HTC via live chat and the 801n is 4g ready that was what I was told....

Hi! I am also a current HTC user(Just not one of these One series) and I would like to ask if it's possible to cross flash radios from any variants of HTC One?
The reason is I asked HTC on their official facebook pages about LTE support of the HTC one and they said that the LTE frequencies that will be enabled on the HTC One depends on what region it was released. So just wondering if let's say I would buy the HTC One from europe(Whic has different LTE frequencies compared to our country) will I be able to flash a radio baseband of a HTC One from let's say asia to switch frequencies?
The reason why I asked this is because I noticed that past HTC devices like HTC One S and One X etc. has different variants depending on what network/region it was bought.
A good example is
Can I flash the radio of HTC One which was has a uk radio/baseband into a HTC One with an asia radio/baseband?
no
You sure about that? Hmm isn't it a tedious task for HTC to make different hardware per region just to complicate things?

No, they use different bands in the hardware. Can an AM radio pick up FM, no.
US use different bands to pretty much the rest of the world. In America the AT&T model covers all america, the EU model should cover most of the rest of the world.
LTE:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
US (Sprint): 1900 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 Mhz
Ok thanks! Read the info on the other thread! Anyways just to be sure I am gonna try cross flashing basebands one I get the device. At least it won't do any permanent brick anyways. I still believe it should be possible since they are using qualcomm modems on this device. And the modem I am talking about is has support for every LTE frequencies in the world.

This is not a matter of FM to AM this a matter of letting the chip recieve 87.5mhz frequency and let it also recieve 108mhz frequency

Wrong, common misconception, it does not support LTE frequencies world wide. And it is funny we should be talking about this today because Qualcomm has just 4 hours ago announced such a beast that you are referring to, so obviously it is not available in any device. http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/22/qualcomm-first-global-lte-chip/

Ok sorry I am not talking about a real global LTE support but at least. The HTC One's modem can support this LTE frequency bands.
700 / 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
And if you ask me I think that would be enough to make 4G work on almost all parts of the globe.

Ha! I just saw an article yesterday about new Qualcomm chip that includes/supports all bands (though that may be per region, ex US, Europe, Asia). Supposed to make it easier for manufacturers to build one device, and not one device per carrier.
@OP, I would not try to flash radio not intended for your device. If partition sizes are different...brick. at least, that's my understanding.
From my Evo LTE, yup.
Sorry, but I can't really follow up know,
Is it now possible to flash a new radio rom on an US One, so it will use Europe Bands for LTE?

99% confident
EDIT:
Maybe this Thread can be moved to Q/A
Rogers should have the phone next Friday....given that is when the pre-order offer ends
the one that available now, only has one band that matches rogers LTE band :2600
as far as i know and read from XperiaZ forum, (c6603 XperiaZ has almost same LTE band as ONE)
no one are able to get LTE.
if you need LTE. get it from your provider.

Hi everyone. I am very new to this.
I am in Australia and Australia carriers (Telstra, Vodafone, Optus etc) have their HTC ONE model 801s. I am ordering the HTC ONE from UK which has the 801n.
Between 801n and 801s, the only thing i m concerned is the 850mhz HSPA/3G, which 801s has and 801n do not.
If I get the 801n, is there a way to make it able to work on the 850mhz HSPA/3G?
I m very new to this. So sorry if there is a thread for this, but I just doesn't know which one, as I saw people saying flashing ROM or Radio is the way to change it (like having 850mhz on the 801n).
Thanks in advance.
Im interested in this as well, but searching this forum for the "radio" topics it seems its not possible yet, maybe someday... but not now though as these post suggests

Just bought an HTC One 801n and for my bad luck I see the same, only 2G and changing the ROM, BAND and so on does not help at all
I want to get the HTC One but apparently it does not support my carrier bands. It appears that the t-mobile version of htc one has the required 1700 band but I am not too sure if I am doing this right. Basically does the t-mobile version of htc one work with wind? (wind apparently supports only the aws band, the full FAQ on wind's website:
There are a few criteria for bringing your own unlocked phone with you to WIND:
a) Must be compatible with our network. The WIND Mobile network uses a frequency called AWS, with bands 1700/2100.
b) Must NOT be locked to another carrier
c) Phones compatible with the U.S. T-Mobile network often work with WIND)
If not, are there any versions of the one that do? I don't really feel like going all the way over to the us to get the phone but if there are no other alternatives, I guess I'll just have to do it. Thanks.
Anyone? A simple yes or no would be ok for me.
I've wind in italy, i don't know if is the same, but for me works fine...

Hi there
I want to buy the HTC ONE "again", but the problem is that I'm not sure which one.
After some research, I've found that there are several different versions of the HTC ONE:
HTC 801n ONE, ONE HTC 801e, 801a ONE HTC, HTC ONE 801W ...
Well why "again"?
Thing is that I had one until recently, the 801n, i got through a contract renewal in Switzerland, and I was very very happy with it!
But the trouble started when I went on a trip again. I travel a lot between Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, and the US, and due prolonged
stays in these countries, I have a simcard in each country, as well as prepaid and contract, each with internet access (3G and 4G).
Now in Mexico I noticed that my brand new HTC ONE 801n, was not compatible with the frequencies used here (3G, 850Mhz with Telcel Mexico), which made it useless as a smartphone. Therefore I sold it. But I loved this phone, so I am going to buy me a new HTC One!
Question is, which HTC ONE is the right for me?? Also I read everywhere on the internet about an "international" HTC one, an "international version"??
Is this one of the above versions I mentioned? "International," does it mean that it will work with all the frequencies in all the countries I travel to? With at least 3G Internet can use, perhaps even with 4G? And where do they sell it? And how can I identify it?
Thanks for your help

Not really, because already sold mine europe htc one, and looking for a new international one, which I can use in in europe and in the US, without hacking or flashing it.
And as noob in the smartphone area, i wouldnt be able to do it,even right now i am having problems to understand what they are talking about in the other thread
International version means it isn't locked to any specific carrier yoy basically any sim from any country should work. You should check that the network frequencies that the phone can handle are compatible with the country that you're visiting but a quick check of the phone specs will tell you that.

You just need to look at the table in the first post
First, find out what 3G/4G frequencies are available with what carriers in each country you travel to. Then you can pick a model that will provide the most coverage. Just going off the 850MHz 3G requirement, you have a few variants to choose from.

US and in Mexico , 3G 850 MHz , and one thing i read was that if the 850 MHZ are not supported by the phone, it seems that it doesnt matter that all other frecuencies avaible in the coutry are supported, the phone wont work with 3G, no matter what. is that right.
No beeing right now most of the time in Mexico for the rest of the year, thinking to buy the HTC One in the US HTC online shop, the unlocked version, 600 USD,
and it says
This HTC OneĀ® unlocked version comes with: 32GB of onboard memory and is SIM unlocked.
- HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
- LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)
Now, at Telcel Mexico , they told, if I buy a phone in the US, it has to be an ATnT compatible phone, and it will work without a problem in Mexico, same frecuencies as AtnT.
Are those the frecuencies used by AtNT??
If the only 3G frequency your carrier supports is 850Mhz, then it doesn't matter what other frequencies the phone is capable of.
Look at the table in the HTC One variants thread, and compare the frequencies of that phone with what is listed for AT&T. And more importantly, what Telcel Mexico support.
What about 4G and Europe, are they high or low priority? The Asian variant supports 850Mhz 3G and has a good overlap with the European 3G and 4G frequencies, but not the US 4G frequencies. What do you consider more important?
