R: [q] cm9 wifi?
I don't know if I'm going to say something idiot or not, but with the revolution super stripped 3.3 rom the wifi doesn't work, but if you flash a boot.img file, which is in the rom's zip, it will work again... Isn't it possible to flash it before installing cm9?
(I really don't know if what I said is right or not )

It would be good if it was that easy
The problem is that we cannot patch our device's WiFi driver into any other Rom then a Sense-based, because HTC did not include that code in the source code.

In other words, we will not have ANY cm9 or any CM based, AOSP based Roms at all unless we make HTC release the source.
Now there are some things you guys can do to help out which include:
Read the thread Neoyoli posted, further up this thread, and read the first page THOROUGHLY, to get a grasp of what we mean.
Only Send HTC emails relating to what we need do not go off topic! We need the FULL kernel source released, not jellybean etc...
Now if you really want any AOSP or CM based Roms, we need to make HTC release this full kernel source.
Come On send those on Topic Emails!

Just a few threads down from yours, there's a two-page thread already about this. Heck, there's already at least one modded kernel based on this source.
Edit: I mean, come on. That thread is even mentioned in the post you linked.

I also want to get CM9 to our device.. I really want to help here, but I don't have a lo of knowledge of rom development.
But I developed some Android apps and I know how to programm java..
So can anybody tell me what I would have to do If I want to get CM9 to our Incredible S?
Can I compile CM9 from source? Or isn't that possible because we don't have an official cm9 yet?
Please help me out a little bit..
Or do you have any tutorials that would help me getting started?
CM9 Is out
Cm9 is now out and soon I think the jelly bean port will be possible maybe.
Desire S have a port lying around but i heard one of the guys had a brick so if you are doing anything please be careful ..

its not out, and won't be until kernel source is. Xda incorrectly listed about 10 devices as having it, o told them on the article and via twitter but 4 days later they haven't bothered to fix it

dang !
why the hell do they wait for kernel source, old devices that have no ics source whatsoever have official cm9 nightlies (example GT-P1000)
Presumably they don't need it, either their drivers are open source or are the same as another device which does have source. HTC deliberately remove and obfusticate, so each source is specific to one device

cm9/10

Hi everyone, I haven't really been keeping up with roms lately and was wondering if this phone is getting cm9 or 10 or is cm7 the last update?
Thanks !

From the looks of it, no. The problem is the kernel sources were released to late. No CM dev really has our phone so therfore hard for us to get it.
There is of course unofficial CM9, heck even CM10 Roms out there if you want to but no official yet.
To be honest I really doubt we will get them because Incredible S is on it's way to be a legacy phone prolly after new years. So unless we get support before that I would not get my hops up, but even so I doubt it.
ZaySk is apparently porting cm9 for us.

Hi Mark,
What would be so innovative about Viper ROM? Just in general? and why promotion of this ROM is focused so much on sense?

Best tweaks in an sense ROM
iirc, J4n87 (team venom boss) is the man behind the leedroid tweaks for sense 3.6 as well.
Its a sense rom, so its focus is sense You can change nearly everything, its like the AOKP of sense roms

Hey Mark,
Out of curiosity,
What is the actual difference when you say built from source and Built from RUU? Is it that you are building everything from scratch, when you say that ROM has been built from source?

Built from source generally refers to AOSP ROMs, meaning they're stock android like the nexus devices. With a source build you can include fixes and features and stuff. Some ROMs are ports of source builds for other devices are so are less tailored to our device and have a few bugs.
If something is built from an ruu it is sense based. HTC release their ROMs via ruus with sense in them, but technically that build them from source and add their framework and stuff. Everything is source based at one point, just a matter of how long ago and what has been added on top. But generally 'built from source' means it was built for the specific device with sources from aosp, aokp, cm or whatever.
That's at a very basic level

Nope, if those two roms are aosp, but i can assure you that sense rom can't be built from source

I wonder if it would be possible to build one's own "skin" like HTC Sense, Touchwiz, etc. It would be a lot of work, but interesting if done properly.

My question was asked to understand wheter or not ROM's from source are better by nature. But I'm not so sure anymore. I'm beginning to think that good ports may have better quality than ROM's from source.

Why CM 10 ?

I see a lot of threads about JB for our device but the question is why ? JB is far bigger then ICS,ICS is smoother than JB and for our phone, JB has 0 new features....you'll say that you like the JB theme but you can always port it to ICS. So guys why don't we concentrate on CM9 since we've already got the sources...we need to resolve a few bugs and that would be the perfect rom for this device.
My point is that we first need a fully-functional CM 9 then we could try to build CM 10.

sorry but i have a desire s and i'try ICS and JB...and...JB is much faster than ics...cause project butter implementation
my friend have the desire c, i try it and it is a good device but with JB i think it can become much faster than now..
(of course jb is sensless)
EDIT: you may try even this Near project Butter for all ICS based ROM
this is a kind of JB project butter and it works with all ics rom (even for your device) and increment smoothness (of course the project butter in JB rom is better that's why i prefer it)
I know what you mean ICS is native to this phone, We need to get AOSP ics working first, them maybe jellybean, if at all.
WAT U guys don't have a stable cm9 ???

100% agree with redhunter CM 9 should work better then cm10 on our devices
Yeah that's right you have to get fully stable CM9 then move forward to CM10 this was our case in pico but I think also after CM9 you have to take a look at kernel 3 hope you get what you want as we got your original desire c rom fully working
