Has anyone noticed, installed the latest wave of European firmware? Sammobile has a Feb/Mar release XXLQD for a number of regions.
Curious to know what changed...

I installed the feb update for nordic contries a week ago, and together with A1 1.8.3c, this one is super slick and smooth. Could be that it's no more smooth than other ics-versions, but in my head it is, and that's what counts.

Try another launcher. I use adw ex, which s really nice and smooth.
Sent from my GT-P7310 using xda app-developers app
The launchers from Play Store uses more energy(around 30-50% CPU).I have seen that touchwiz from Swiss rom uses around 15% CPU , is very good optimized(compared with honeycomb launcher). The lag problem is touchwiz specific( you can see that in Galaxy S4 hands-on on Youtube).

Does anyone notice specific improvements compared to the Nov/Dec releases (European XXLQ6)

I'm not sure. I think I've been on almost all of safarikings older ROMs (up to v.4.0.x.x). But as I said it could all be in my head. I do however notice that hitting the home button results in a silky smooth transition, whereas before it stuttered like hell (even with adw ex).

It is worth trying it? Im am currently in LP7 and I have to say that I am satisfied, however I notice that sometimes the tablet gets dark and it forces me to reset by holding the power button.
Despite that I got HDMI, phone calls (with its bugs on) and all necessary things I need.
Is it LQD more stable?

Theres not much changed in the graphics itself. More underlying stuff has been changed.
For me the most important things are greatly improved battery life and properly working gps (quick fix). There are others reporting faster and more responsive overall user experience.
Its really worth to upgrade to 2.3

Search tab forumn gingerbread has ALOT of bugs. Threads and threads with pages and pages.
Wait till oc/uv and a more stable kernel. Current kernel is a mix between tab software with a sgs driver. Because samsung hasnt released source code yet. Gingerbread isnt officially out in the us or most of the world for the tab.
An interesting note on gingerbread. Drop your lcd density to 165 and some stock icons upgrade to a totally different icon. Example is phoneicon.

If you want to change the GUI of your Tab, I suggest that you try out some launcher apps. LauncherPro for example, you can easily change how the homescreen looks.
Or if your open to custom ROM's, I suggest that you keep a close eye to the development of Overcome ROM. They are beginning to customize the GUI of the ROM, as well as optimization tweaks for the whole device.
Thanks for all of your answers

Take the Overcome expiriance. It feels very fast and smooth. Everything works without any issues and the community support (if you need it) is great. At the moment Alterbridge does not stop his developing (next version of his rom is in the oven) so we will get more and more performance.
PS: for a nexus S look you can flash the GreengerBlack theme.
(I know, I know......)
I came from overcome to dip7's rom and I can tell you that it is faster but it's closer to stock. Overcome has icons that look cool for some people but i like dip7's rom better.

Cool thanks for the replys guys quick question if I was to flash it is there anything or any builds for the uk model as there is so many different types of tab models. I don't want a brick

If you make your choise for overcome, the installation will be easy as sleep. You just have to follow the guide on "teamovercome.net". The Rom is made for GSM Tabs like yours. It's allmost impossible to brick the Tab.

The honeycomb rom by spacemoose1 is not complete yet. The last build he released was about 3 months ago. I tested it and it was laggy and many things were broken. I recommend gingerbread for now until spacemoose1 gets onto a better stage of his build.

Overcome or CM7 ?
I can see that overcome is pretty popular. I dont hear anybody touting CM7; I've got CM7 running on an HTC Desire HD and an LG Optimus One, and I'm pretty happy with it -- much better that the stock ROM, and on the O1, probably the nicest ROM out there. I'm just wondering a bit how much better worse it is compared to Overcome ?
I used to like cm7 but it is buggy as he'll Evan the last release was on my nexus s id have times where my screen would look like a burnt in screen animation, I would have to reboot all the time best roms i've used on my nexus is stock and miui only problem with miui us is the keyboard vibration don't work

Guys,
I just got a T-Mobile version of TAB,
I'd like to flash to Gingerbread, or a rom which supports Gtalk video and Skype,
What are some of your suggestions?
Thank you
Overcome supports it I think I'd start with that if you can get overcome

Definitely what you want. I've been an Overcome fan for a while now, been very happy with it.
I use Overcome since version 2.0.0 RC1. In my opinion it is the best ROM for the Gtab 7". It is fast, does not have too much bugs and the support by Team Overcome is very good. The development of the ROM is fast and continually.
Not to forget the very good installation instruction and the Change Log for every new version of the ROM.
I lived my nexus 7 on 4.1 but man 4.2 build is so bad. It is almost unusable to me. It is laggy and buggy with freezing all the time. Any suggestions on something very stable, close to stock? How is cyanogenmod? Ideas would be appreciated. Looking to root tomorrow I can't take this any longer.

Ι tried that for a day, it was smooth and all but the battery life while idle was horrible.
Reverted to 4.1.2 stock, is there a way to get rid of the notification to update to 4.2 (without updating ofcourse)...

Strange how peoples experiences differ
I use stock rom 4.2 and never ever have any kind of lag or freezing of any kind - everything works 100% and buttersmooth constantly
I never have to reboot or anything, it just runs for months and not even once have I had any lag or problems
Try a 4.1 rom, CM 10.1 is your best bet, but im not familliar of this device roms.

PM me if you need help
People have problems with 4.2 if they have old applications that are not updated for 4.2, don't clean their cache, or don't trim their storage.
Any complaints about battery life are due to applications requesting data synch or location. Those wake the Nexus up, and can be turned off.
4.2 is fine for me.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I had similar issues in stock 4.2, tried about 3 others before settling on cm10.1, which runs smooth as can be for me with good battery life.
Seems like the these things are pretty finicky and everyone's handles different ROMs differently.

You do realize not every device is the same. I keep good tabs on my devices. I would know if an application was causing the problem. I've factory reset the device and nothing has changed. Also I've heard from numerous people who have had problems like mine.

I love sparksco's saber mod ROM (4.2.1). It's very smooth and has excellent battery life (10%/hr screen-on time + 10%/day). The supplied kernel is great but I prefer metallice's m-kernel.
Sent from my Nexus 7
That's exactly why I finally decided to root and rom. I did like the 4.2 features so I was shooting for one that incorporated those (dual-sided notification bar, etc.)
Paranoid Android nailed it for me. It feels just like stock 4.2 but is wayyyy smoother, wayyyy less problematic and has a ton of customization options.
I gave cyanogenmod and a couple others a chance first but Paranoid Android definitely has my vote.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
it hard to decide which is the better rom.
btw i'm using paranoid android+franco kernel
I Use the super Charged Series N7, although PRIME D01-25 is also good. Both are very smooth with great battery life, especially when using M-Kernel or motley.
NEXUS 7:
Unlock/Root
N7 Super Charge v1
M-Kernel
PimpMyROM
Jays Buttery Tweaks
This is too funny...
If you have the latest version of jb and it is so bad you can barely use it than you need an RMA.. While it out may have some minor bugs I used it for a long time and loved it... I only switched to paranoid because I love the pie..
It sounds like a hyperbolic exaggeration to me. If not your device is faulty.. or you have some really bad apps messing things up..

I think it's going to be a case of 'lets hope newer updates will help' mine is pretty sluggish too, but I've noticed a few new firmwares appear on Samsung-updates with big jumps in the change lists, so I'm gonna give one of them a go.

Cool, would you let's know if any of them are good
So far so good.
Well one thing is fixed, for me at least, it doesn't change the storage location on boot up now!
Maybe a placebo, but the whole thing seems loads more responsive.
The camera firmware got updated too, not sure what difference the changes will have made, as I've not used it in anger since updating it.
BTW, The one I flashed was the Australian version.

What has CM for advantage above fw or other rom's?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
A clear difference is speed. No more lags in opening anything which is the major drawback of official jb.
How about battery performance. I now use dxamd1 with cocore 6.8. And I charge once a day in the nightly hours. And use my phone freqently the whole day

Battery is quite good for me. A good start considering the rom is not optimized yet.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
Battery life is amazing, considering cm10.1 is still quite raw. I've just plugged my phone in after 2 days.. 15% battery left. Some whatsapp, some messaging, some browsing, some music... the usual stuff. Wifi on 100% of the time.
So is speed, smooth as butter. The only drawback I was able to find so far is benchmark results... ran antutu and scored 5030 points, while the better stock JB roms are near or at 7000 points. Mind you, if I hadn't run that benchmark, I wouldn't have noticed there was a performance deficiency.. no lags, no hiccups, nothing.
If you don't use video recording, and don't mind turning the volume down then up during a call to solve the low volume problem... then yes, go with CM10.1 as it is right now, it doesn't dissapoint. It can only get better!
So wich cm Rom version comes out best out of the box here. And can i flash it over all fw versions?

Well, there are a lot of CM10.1 nightlies... Have a look in the archive, I've personally had excellent results with the 20130621 one. Don't flash the latest 20130627 since it's corrupted (it weights 94 MB and a full rom is about 165-170MB)
From what I've read so far, CM10.1 works just fine if flashed over XXLQE firmware, but could have problems if using another one as base. I used polish XXLQE as base and it worked perfectly, apart from the two or three bugs CM10.1 still has.
I think cm 10.1 and pac 23.0 works well with any other base too. I'm using indian ddulp8 and got no issue at all. But better install from fresh stock firmware to avoid any problems.
