[Q] Google contacts.apk - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, is it possible to take the Contacts and Phone apk from another Rom, and just copy it to our phone? I don't like the Contacts.apk from Samsungs :/ I prefer the white/blue from Google, I tried it from my androidx86, but it didn't worked... I also don't want to lose facebook-sync. Is it possible to get both?
My Rom is Benzrom v4.1. Would be nice if have an idea In the Android Apps and Games section I couldn't find it.

No one an idea?

[ADD ON][Samsung AddOn + TouchWiz UX for CM9]

With permission from the developer, I would like to share this with you guys. Its an add-on to be flashed over CM9 Nightlies. Its mainly for those who love the stock look of Samsung and includes some Samsung Apps + TW UX + Sony Walkman Player (which i personally think is awesome!)

****To be flashed over CLEAN CM9****
>Back Up Apps
>Factory Reset
>Flash Zip via CWM
>Restore Apps
More details and screenshots available at the original thread.

Pls dont forget to thank the developer if you like it.
will it work on cm9 experimental build?
yes it does. im tried on mine. the first boot takes somewhat long. took about 20 mins if i remember right. be warned, dont flash if u dont like touchwiz (latest) or stock samsung apps cos it adds a few of those.
the new weather clock.apk not work for me.... problem loading widget... is it work for you guys?
not working on mine either :-( sorry.
hey there,
i wanted a few samsung apps, but not the launcher as i still want to remain my CM9 launcher. if i straight away flash this, the touchwiz ui will replace the stock ICS launcher?
theres still the option to select the Trebuchet launcher. or u can install another launcher over it like Nova or Apex which looks exactly the same like Trebuchet but with more functions.
I want to flash this for the default Samsung camera app. But if I flash this, will my entire system, ie the settings, menu etc look like Samsung s ics Rom?
i dont think camera will be changed. if u have downloaded the zip, check the system/app folder inside the zip. all the additional apps will be found there.

Actually I can't just copy Samsung camera as it requires some Samsung framework and tw elements. So was asking if after u flash this zip, do u have Samsung camera or does copying stock camera from Samsung ics Rom can work or not.

i've checked. the samsung camera app is not included in this add on. to answer ur othr question, i dont think copying the stock samsung camera will work either, for the same reasons u stated above

Actually if u have an ics or even a gb nandroid backup, extract it and find polaris office apk from it and copy it to the location you found it. And change permission.

That's actually the way to do it, but keep calendarprovider.apk. Then just use the new calendar app normally.
You could try replaceing the files again if not then your going have to live with out it or flash the same rom again.
Try these.
If anyone would replace stock calendar with aCalendar, here it is the update to flash.

Sorry, but that app is only for android 4.0.3, so we can't install it on stock rom of our galaxy ace. If you want it, you could search an ICS mod of our stock calendar.

[Q] GingerDX v029 DeskClock

The ROM is really great and stable, but I just want to ask: can I remove that big ball, the one that when you click it changes the color, on the Clock system app? In case of 'yes', how can I do it?
I was using the GingerDX v025 and the Clock doens't have that.
Thanks.
That's a modded Desk Clock layout by AChep to match the ICS clock. Did you change apks by any chance?

No, I just flashed that new version 029 and the Clock is like that.
Do you know a way to get back to normal, I mean, without the mod to match the ICS clock?
Thanks.

I also have the same problem-it looks kind of ugly. However I am not sure if it is possible to get rid of the 'ball/oval', maybe you can try another clock app.
Although I don't like it either, it don't mind to much as I don't even use the app. Good luck anyway (even though my reply may not of helped much )
Does it happen with the ICS theme applied?

Also, I just thought of this, GDXv025 is also Gingerbread so what you could do is copy the apk of the GDXv025 clock app to the GDXv029 system/app folder.

You should try search and if you did you would find:
SplannerWidget
You will have to be rooted at least with a custom kernel that has cwm or twrp. Lots of information on how to do that available, just use "search" and you will find it...
thanks for the link

if you take your time, do some reading, explore the vast amount of information here, do searches for things like kernels, tutorials, root and that sort of thing and you will do fine... and don't be scared of the thanks button :good: LOL...
You just need to be rooted, you don't even need a custom kernel. A root browser app will do the trick, download the zip file provided by bob, open it and extract the apk inside system\app folder. Move it to your phone's system\app folder and set permissions rw-r--r-- :good:
