[Q] Galaxy S Hoppin (M190S) need advice

I hope this is the right place to post this. Apologies to mods in advance if not.
I need expert advice.
I have the Galaxy S Hoppin SHW-M190S which i purchased second-hand. This is a newer version of the M110S, which also has a thread here in the forum.
I find it to be a really sturdy smartphone and to me it looks sleeker than the Galaxy S i9000 or even the M110S.
My phone currently runs Gingerbread 2.3.4 and i really need to root this to be able to configure adhoc wifi.
Can you tell me how to go about rooting this? I once had an M110S - do i use the same procedure and files?
Till now i have not found any information on the rooting of the M190S. So, your advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can Flash a Tegrak Kernel for your Phone, If your ROM is up to date from http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://pspmaster.tistory.com/120 will give you root , lag fix and recovery options, once you install Tegrak Kernel app from google market ( free app)
or you can try the rooting tools from Collections for Android link below

Why is it when i open d tegrak kernel app on mt m190s it keeps on loading? And it says: failed to connect tegrak service. Please install the Tegrak Kernel first. :/

because, you need to flash the tegrak kernel first using odin, only after that the app can function

download the M190S tegrak kernel from earlier link , than start odin select that file under PDA and click start ( don't tick anything else or click anything else )will take 2 seconds or more and you should be done

While phone is off, press and hold power + mid button (between the 2 capacitive ones) til you reach Download Mode. You should see weird korean characters in yellow.
Proceed with flashing Tegrak via odin.

download Tegrak kernel , you must be using latest firmware WD19, if not use KIES to update to WD19 and flash that kernel under PDA in Odin 3, you will get Recovery ...you also need to download tegrak kernel from google play ( freeware) to root it as well as other options

This rooting guide was written for M110S by me , so just switch kernel file for your model http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26402069&postcount=4411 and it should work fine

Step 1: Download the required kernel for your Galaxy S :
Step 2: Once downloaded, extract the .zip file. At this point, ensure your device is not connected to your computer.
Step 3: Locate Odin (should be included in the CF-Root package), and launch it by double-clicking on the .exe.
Step 4: Next, press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down buttons while connecting your device to your PC, until you see a Download Mode screen.
Step 5: ODIN will detect your device.
Step 6: Click on PDA and select (CF-Root).tar (file downloaded in Step 1).
Step 7: Click Start.
And there you have it. Your newly-updated device is now rooted and ready for you to mod, tweak, and tailor to your specific needs!

Odin Download page
Make sure to download ODIN for your phone from the list. (GT-I9000)
Use above steps with CF-Root.

When choosing the right cf-root do the following:
Settings -> About phone -> Build number.
Build number will be Gingerbread.xxJVU or something similar.
You want the CF-Root that matches those last three digits so in our example you want CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.zip
Please note above cf-root is used as an example you want the cf-root for your build number.

yep, download n flash it thru odin in PDA section (if in tar) or flash it with cwm (if in zip) * [check inside zip first, if contain .tar file, flash it with odin with uncheck repartition n check reboot n reset time] *

when your phone is i9000M, you should not be using i9000 stock ROM or kernel, so look in My Android collections, link below under rescue and recovery kit for i9000M UGKJ3 ROM and UGKJ3 rooting kernel or you can try framaroot one clik rooting app , under Unlock and Root section.

Didn't you write before that you have i9000M?
Don't ever forget here to mention "M" as otherwise people will advice you to flash something for i9000 and it would brick your "M" device.

Check its imei number, so you will know what it is. I wrote in my latest thread how can one check it.

Default video player bug/error

Hello everyone,
After updating ICS from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4 my video player got somehow bugged/isn't working properly. Update was without any errors. So after updating I didn't get pop-up function, and also can't rewind video with touchscreen anymore. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Maybe it's possible to somehow to reinstall player or update it alone. I've tried factory data reset but it didn't fix this.

You can try MX player (free from the market) if you are facing too many difficulties with the stock player.

Rewinding works at the timeline, but when I slide the screen when video is played it doesn't rewind.
Already have mx player and all work there, but I would like to know whats wrong with the default one.

Well, its hard to say whats gone wrong but if you are rooted and want to give it a shot you can try pushing the movie player apk from someone elses note to system/app using root explorer and changing the permission. I've never tried it myself. You can search XDA for "how to install system app" for details.

Please take a backup before you do any of this.

Note is my first android phone, and I only have it for 2 month, I know to less about it, and don't want to root it atm, not sure what it even gives yet.

Somehow I saw this happen to other person who also upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4, because ppl who go from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 doesn't seem to experience this.

I tried finding and i also found one guide by Dr. Ketan but i need to know will it help me rooting my specific baseband and build number... Because recently I updated my mobile which bought samsung pay app also.

If you ever root your phone you will lose both Samsung pay and Google pay FOREVER!! You will never get it back not even if you restore back to stock!

I dont need any of the samsung pay or google pay... I am just asking that is that method by dr. Ketan suitable for rooting my device as i dont want to brick my phone or enter any bootloop...

I dont need any of the samsung pay or google pay... I am just asking that is that method by dr. Ketan suitable for rooting my device as i dont want to brick my phone or enter any bootloop...

I don't think that method is going to work for the N920G however if you go to this link and download the file for the N920G and flash it in Odin then you'll have root right away..

Flash twrp, reboot directly to recovery, flash latest supersu and reboot.....

Have you rooted your device successfully with any of above mentioned method? I too have same baseband version and build number so that i could also root my phone with specific method safely..
