It the phone was sold after 26 January, no one would provide you an unlock code.
Anyway, but the unlock code on eBay for mine and worked just fine.

After having 2 companies fail to find an unlock code for my Atrix HD I successfully got an unlock code from americanunlocker.com for $15. Worked perfectly first try.

The phone certainly is unlockable. We've unlocked some.
Networks certainly do like to talk bs. The reps you speak with have absolutely no idea about the phones, so please don't take their opinion or "computer said no" response as gospel.
Just try with a few different suppliers as Nate3D did and someone will have a supplier who can locate the unlock code.

That's not technically true. The codes are still available it is just down to the buyer if they want to unlock it. The act of supplying a code isn't illegal.
Also, that date only applies to the US. Phone unlocking is still completely (and rightly) legal in nearly all other countries.

Hi, at&t atrix hd unlock code from cellunlockerpro.com has failed and I have only 1 more attempt left. Is there any way to reset the attempt counter? Which is most reliable site to get codes? please help.

^ I read somewhere that after keeping it turned off for couple of days the no. of attempts to enter unlock code resets back. How true is this?

Phone unlocking isn't illegal in the US either. Bypassing digital security measures to unlock you phone is illegal. So decrypting information on the phone would be illegal, while buying and entering a code is not.

There are only free methods for phones, which are four or five years old, and maybe your provider can do it for you when your contract is over.
If you want to unlock it now, just search a bit on Google, or PM to Blagus, with this way you can find at least really cheap ones.
LuisDias, blagus makes the best price you can find..
Hello,
I used the fastgsm.com website which works the following way:
- you pay for credits, (40USD for X8) and then they send you user/password for the unlock software client
- you download the drivers and the unlock client to you PC and do as it is written
I followed the instruction but the progress stopped after reading out my mobile.
This cause me to problems: they consider I used up the credits.
I got my mobile still locked and what is even worse now it locked for everything.
With my original T-mobile simcard I can not attach to any network.
All I can do is search the network but can not attach to any (not even the Home network)
After all this I made a software upgrade on my mobile with PC companion, but I still the same problem, it locked for everything.
Have any of you had the same problem?
Many thanks for any response!

For me, I think I was lucky. My phone was locked on my network only, then I rooted it, installed custom ROM blah blah, and voila, it unlocked, wtf? I was very surprised, it asks me for unlock code, but I can bypass this screen and phone registeres on other networks with other SIM cards, I don't know if it was luck or something else considering that I've unlocked it somehow.

Isn't there another way to do it using RSD Lite or some other Motorola utility? I remember I have done it before on another Motorola phone and didn't have to pay anyone for it.

Insert your locked SIM card into the phone and restart the phone. You will be prompted to enter the unlock code once the phone reboots.

I bought it unlocked. AT&T update locked it!
Hey there everyone!
I bought my Atrix HD unlocked from eBay, it all worked fine until yesterday a message from AT&T came to my phone saying there was an update. installed it and now my phone is locked!
I spoke on the phone to a customer service representative and he said that the contract Motorola has with AT&T doesn't allow them to give unlock codes (?) and that I should try calling in a month or two.
Is there anything else I could try before buying an unlock code online?? Please help

You will get the unlock option by restarting your phone after putting in a Sim card other than the original carrier Sim.

I have the same question as OP. I am about to order a MotoX and will be traveling in 1 month.
Who is RipCo?
For Motorola are more services available, there is a cheaper service that does not work for all phones, but tere is a service for not found phones ,which even if is a bit more expensive ( around 12$) should unlcok your phone

Let me see if I understood correctly, you bought your Moto X from motorola's website (in the Design Yours section), customized your phone and at the end you choosed Carrier -> ATT -> No Contract (that's 499$) and you got it to work in your country?

Just got myself an AT&T Moto X. I am in India right now and dont see any option to e-mail the guys at AT&T. For some reason they want me to register. Can anyone help me out with this? I need to SIM unlock the phone. How do I reach AT&T via e-mail?
This is the AT&T International (+1 916 843 4685) phone number. Can call that 1-2 times if you can and try to convince you to give you a code, but lately seems they do not give codes unless you have or had a contract with them and use the form from their website to request for it. If that is not working can just buy an unlock code should be around 12$

[Q] Is your atrix unlocked? if so how did you do it?

I want to unlock my atrix hd (at&t) to a different carrier,is yours unlocked? if so how did you do it? unlock code? some other method without using unlock code? how much did you buy the unlock code for? o;
You have to buy a code as there is no way to unlock the AHD for free. In order to enter the code, you need to be on a pure stock or close-to-pure stock rom in order to enter the unlock code.
If you're an AT&T customer, they may give you the code for free.

Ok thank you, i will probably buy an unlock code, and use stock rom, does it stay unlocked forever?
Just google your carrier and request unlock. I know At&t has an online request form to unlock the carrier . As long as you meet the requirements there is no charge for this service. Thirty minutes after submitting the request At&t sent me the unlock code. T-mobile I'd imagine would do the same.
As for your other question, I am curious too. I just reverted my phone back to stock At&t. Got to find someone with a non At&t SIM to see if my phone is still carrier unlocked. I say it is.
The phone will be unlocked forever. I have never seen or read a post where a phone became carrier locked after being unlocked by entering a code.
If you purchased a used phone, put in a non-ATT sim after reverting to a stock rom to make sure you receive a prompt to enter your network unlock code. If you are on stock and don't the prompt, the phone maybe be hard locked to ATT and there is very little an end user can do to unlock the phone.
bought it on ebay... better pay with then than some random website with your CC info.
I haven't used this service but I've seen it referenced several times here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_668wt_1121
What's interesting is that the MB886 isn't listed as one of the phones, yet people say it has worked.
I will try that, feel much safer then random website that I don't know if they are safe.

[Q] How to unlock tmobile Z1s

I just recently bought a z1s coming from an s3. so far i love how smooth and fast the phone is. The camera quality is pretty bad however but thats beside the point. I need to unlock my phone does anyone know how i can do this? i heard the bootloader is locked or something, does that affect the phone being able to be unlocked? any help would be appreciated thank you
What I know your phone is Locked and it cannot be Unlocked, there is no workaround, thanks to TMO. You will still get Root anyway so is not so bad.

It will unlock with an unlock code. You can get that from T-Mobile. If you bought the phone outright, you can get the code from them. If upgraded, then you can wait 90 days... Or, 40 days, I've heard both. I don't know if those third party websites can unlock it with the code. Yes, the bootloader is locked, but with the released kernel source, we will have root once someone can figure it out.
Coming from the S3 like you, I know of that hidden menu that allows you to SIM unlock Samsung phones, from my research I've done, I don't think Sony phones have that. It needs a direct code.

I bought the unlock code for my Z1s online, different seller but worked none the less. Took about 4 days turnaround on the code, Sony unlock codes seem to take longer to generate than other manufacturers. Many of us have been buying unlock codes online for some years now, I've never heard of any IMEI related issues.

I work for TMo and can tell you that the official policy is that the restocking fee is only waived for defective devices, and then only if it's being exchanged for the same model. That being said, it's often left to the rep's/manager's discretion and some may waive it for you. I often waive it for people just to be nice, but it really just depends on who you go to and how strictly they are adhering to T-Mobile policy.
