[SOLVED] gmail notification issue - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason I never get notified when new emails come in and checked everything with a fine tooth comb and I have even done a factory reset just in case.
So to recap
Push on
Autosync
Notifications set to vibrate and sound for all incoming emails
Outcome is unless I check manually I never know I have emails.
Help please this is annoying the hell out of me!!

Any one else got this issue?

Re: gmail notification issue
Nope, all working fine for me, have you checked the gmail app settings itself, there's a sync option in there.

Yeah checked that and it's set to notify on all emails with vibrate and sound.

Re: gmail notification issue
Yep but there's a Sync Gmail setting just below that.
Sorry that's the only other thing apart from all your main settings which I assume you've checked.

That's ticked as well, very bizarre issue!

Fixed it looks like it was some weird forwarding issue from my outlook to gmail which screwed things up so disabled that and now get notified of emails right away.

Apologies for the thread resurrection, but where do I find the "Push on" setting for gmail? I've looked in the app and in the sync settings for google/gmail and I can't find a push option anywhere, I am having problems with not getting push notifications for new emails...

yeah, working for a bit, then not working for me now.
I receive the push notifications right away with no problem. However, within 30-60 seconds or so they disappear.
They're still new/unread if I open the app.
I've verified this happens even if I turn off all other browsers/devices that might be connected.
I've verified this happens to a family member and a friend with an Epic 4G and an Evo 4G in addition to my NS4G and TF101.
Yeah, pretty slow.
but they work.
Mine work sometimes, but are really late. Other times, they just don't come through at all until I open the app itself. The push notification implementation is pretty useless overall in my experience unfortunately.
I have the same issue.
just use the app, its working perfect for me

oh i thought they meant the email setting or sms settings through the site itself. i have all of those turned off.
Google+ IS in it's beta still for a reason...
Seems to me, if someone comments on something I post, I get the notification immediately. I also get notified immediately if someone tags me in a post or picture. The slow notifications seem to happen when someone is commenting on something I've commented on. Anyone else having this experience?
Mine didn't start working correctly until I verified my cell number through the desktop G+.

Under Google + Settings, Set delivery preferences, phone, I put my phone number, confirmed it and chose 'push notifications'. After that, the app started notifying me on everything I left checked.

i thought that worked separately from the app like for non smart phones. i dont have any of that set up on the desktop and i just use the app on my phone and i get everything in just a few minutes.
i think people sometimes expect to much from "push" as far as speed goes. you have to keep in mind youre not the only one on the system and network traffic can slow things up. if your "push" notification comes in 10 mins or less then whats the big deal? in other words you want true instant push go blackberry, seems like they perfected it, otherwise i think however it works it works.

Email Notification Sound

okay this maybe a dumb question but its sure is annoying. Whenever i get an email the phone led light start to blink and the Email Notification Sound play like it should, but after 10 minutes it plays again and again. Like if i don't touch the phone it will ding every 10 minutes.
Its not an event reminder or alarm as email sounds are very different then anything else and only happens when i don't touch my phone. Like i got an email late last night and it kept dinging all night long until i unlocked the phone and cleared the notification.
Its super annoying, It just play the email notification sound and then let the led blink for 10 minutes but not play notification sound sound every 10 minutes.
Does anyone know how to stop this?

Open you HTC mail client (app drawer and select Mail), hit the menu button > More > Settings (then select your email account) > Notification settings
Now you can uncheck Notification sound
Will it still ding when i first receive the email, I want the sound to play the first time but not every 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, this will take out the sound altogether.
yeah thats what i thought, you guys don't find this weird about the phone?
not sure about the native HTC email program.. but here's how to achieved what you're after using GMAIL appz
/ open up Gmail
/ menu button
/ More-->>Settings-->> Account Settings-->> [email protected]
/ Scroll down to "Labels to notify"
/ select "inbox" then a pop up notification settings box will appear
/ There is an option at the bottom for "notify once"
That will do it
when a new email arrived... you'll get a notification... you get to choose to have SOUNDS/VIBRATE...etc
and subsequence mail arrival won't have any more sounds
Just curious what ROM you're running that's giving you this issue?
Sent from my HTC Vivid 4G using xda premium
I sent an e-mail to my G-Mail account. When it came it, I left it alone to see what would happen. As described in another post, the alert sound occurred only one time. The LED flashed for a while but eventually stopped. I confirmed that the G-Mails allowed a once only notification.
I have had situations occur, but not always, where I will get alerts from both G-Mail and the native HTC e-mail app. However, it did not occur this time. So, I can't say for now what the native e-mail account will do.
I'm running stock ROM and have not had consistent email notifications. I have it set to sound every time I receive an email. But I may hear it only once for several emails and then once for every email received. I may also get a sound for emails that I don't seem to have received.
Just one of those things.
I'm running stock rom and using the native htc email app
Not to mention, it gets frustrating after habitually only reading the SMS from the lockscreen notification.

Changing it is specific to the application you are using. Check the settings for the application in question. I'm using the Gmail app. The settings for each account has an area for changing the sound and frequency.
Was this issue solved?

For a regular (non-gmail) account (which uses the stock Mail app), I could not find where to set it's specific notification sound... BUT, everything else has its own notification sound setting (GMail, WhatsApp, Text Messaging), so I just go into phone Settings, Sound, and pick a notification sound there (which will play when I get an email in my regular mail). All the other apps have their own sounds assigned, so I guess technically, my Mail has its own sound.
It is under personalize click the sound tab email is there

SNAP. That is so simple. I suck. LOL
Also under the mail app you need to go under settings notification and check the box that says play sounds too

Email notifications, what info?

I have my Gear set up with my Note 3 and it seems to be working ok.
I am getting notifications through, but I cannot get into the email on the Gear to read it.
I understand that with GMail you only get basic info, but i was of the understanding that an email account set up in the stock email app, should deliver a notification and you should be able to get the text body of the email?
Has anyone else managed to get the text body?
If I try and select the email in the notifications I regularly get a error, "Sorry notifications has stopped"
Any help appreciated.

It works fine for me. Make sure you set email in the notfiications setting under settings in the Gear app. I get my gmail and hotmail accounts tru it and works perfectly. Text message, not so good, but email works like a champ.

So when you get an email notification (not Gmail) and it comes up on the Gear, you can touch it and the text of the email shows?

Hmmmm, out of interest, if you don't mind saying, what is the domain of the normal email?
I have a iCloud account set up as IMAP and a outlook.com (new Hotmail) account, and even after a reset of the Gear and Handset, and a fresh set up, the Notifications app on the Gear still regularly gives me a screen saying, "Unfortunately the Notifications have stopped"
Argggggggg!

Just discovered that the app, dynamic notifications was interfering with my notifications, everything works fine now that I disabled it. So anyone else who uses that, check that out.

I want it to only go off once, then stay silent for each additional email I get. This is the first phone I've had do this, my N5 only notifies me once, and each email after that if I don't check them doesn't play the notification sound.
I figured you meant something more complex than no notifications at all. I don't understand why you want to be notified of only one Gmail per day...... What's the point of being notified at all if it's only for one email? Is it a email from a certain sender that usually comes before the rest? I'm just curious.

Not per day, if i get an email and don't check it, every time an email comes in after that it plays the notification sound every time. Like I get multiple emails in a row from XDA subscriptions, I don't want it to play the sound every time. Gmail has the option to notify once or for every email, I have it set as only once, but that doesn't work. That kind of explain it better?
It will notify once for that original email if you get another email from another person or a second post was made on Xda it will send another email and you will be notified again but for that email not the original one you got that you still didn't check. That is simply how it works

That's not how it worked on multiple Motorola phones before this one, my GNex, or my N5. Only this phone. I've been using Android for over 2 years since Gingerbread all the way to Kit Kat and never had this happen on any other phone. I'm just trying to figure out what it is about this phone that is causing it.

I got it now. What's weird is you quoted me and I got a new email because of that but did not get a notification..... Which is what you want. It appears to be working the way you want for me but not for you. Have no idea why that would be. My guess is it's something with your account and not the phone itself.
