I have been experiencing an issue with configuring Exchange ActiveSync setup. Our company have recently opened up ActiveSync as part of moving to Office365. To add to the mix, they have implemented an intermediate encryption gateway from Ciphercloud which means for the ActiveSync server address we now have to enter a non standard server address such as "host.domain.com/com/outlook/m/ccuri".
If I enter "host.domain.com" the "Next" button remains active. As soon as I enter a forward slash into the equation, the "Next" button greys out.
I have confirmed this format of server address is possible on other android devices such as Kindle Fire HD running 4.1.1. stock rom. I have tried several custom roms in the Jellybean territory and no rom I install seems to active the facility to accept a URL type server address
Totally lost and I don't understand. This definitely appears to be a ActiveSync protocol version issue but no amount of googling appears to yield anyone out there experiencing the same issue.
Does anyone know if you can specifically upgrade the Exchange ActiveSync version through flashing the apps? I am almost certain the issue lies with this...
Currently running: 4.1.2 Baseband ver: N7000XXLS3 Kernel 3.0.31-422420 Build number: JZO54K.N7000XXLS7

Hi all,
I'm having an issue when trying to synchronize two diamonds and a cruise (all of them running wm6.1 FRE) with an Exchange Server 2003 SP2. Each time I try to synchronise through GPRS/3G , i'm getting an error (n° 0x80072EE2, wich means server not available).
Below is my initial situation :
Synchronization is ok using USB on all device. ActiveSync 4.5 is configured to use server "mail.mydomain.com", refering to a different IP address depending on whether synchronization is initiated from outside or inside local network. From outside, a redirection from gandi.net transfers mail.mydomain.com to https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/exchange, "xxx.xxx..." being my exchange server's public IP.
After spending days looking for a workaround, here's what I've tried :
- Disabling WM DNS cache (tried with both DnsCacheEnable and DnsCacheEnabled registry entries) and soft reseting the device, as suggested here : http://forum.soft32.com/pda/Wireless-Attempt-results-Error-0x80072EE2-ftopict76576.html ;
- Unchecking the "use proxy" box in my connection's advanced properties ;
- Placing the OWA redirection (https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/exchange) on a new subdomain : webmail.mydomain.com, in order to have mail.mydomain.com pointing the same public IP address inside and outside the network.
Now I have :
mail.mydomain.com --> public_ip
webmail.mydomain.com --> https://public_ip/exchange
So, theorically, putting my public IP address or mail.mydomain.com inside ActiveSync server's configuration should be exactly the same (except for certificates). Here is my problem : When using directly my IP address, I can see the request going through the firewall, to port 443 of my exchange server (but getting a certificate error, since i'm supposed to be connecting using mail.mydomain.com). When using mail.mydomain.com, I still get the 0x80072EE2 error, and nothing goes through my firewall..........
Looks like there is no DNS lookup during wireless synchronization when using a domain name in activesync configuration...
Thanks for reading, any help would be great.
Greetings All!
I recently flashed my TyTn II with jjblaster3's 28008 ROM and am having some difficulty setting up internet access via WiFi.
I've set up the static IP address and DNS servers but every time I attempt to access a website I receive a DNS error. I've tried entering various websites IP addresses but for some reason Internet Explorer defaults to http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx whenever xxx.xxx.xx.xx is entered, so I assume it treats the IP addresses as website addresses. I do recall having similar difficulties under WM6.1.
Another thing I have noticed of various WM6.5 ROMS is that the IP address dialogue appears broken in that
The IP and Gateway address inputs are limited to 2 digit octets (i.e. 192.168.0.1 appears as 19.16.0.1)
The subnet mask defaults to 255.0.0.0 as opposed to 255.255.255.0 (note that the subnet mask also appears to be limited to 2 digit octets, so by 255.0.0.0 I actually mean 25.0.0.0)
I've been through the various IP/DNS/Network settings dialogues with a fine tooth comb but I can't seem to find the problem. I've even disabled the phone in an effort to eliminate the possibility that my connections DNS requests are be directed via GPRS.
Anyhow, that's all the information I can think off. Any assistance provided would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Nubey.
So I have a Trixbox server I'm trying to connect to. I've used 3CX, Sipdroid, etc. with no issues but would like to try it native. I add the IP address of the server, my UN and PW and try to make a call. Regardless of whether I'm trying an extension on the box or a regular number, it says "Called from outside...(cuts off)".
Any ideas?
To clarify, I'm referring to the built in SIP client.
same deal with me. i've tried onsip and an internal asterisk server. seem like garbage.
Might be a setting in Asterisk. I ran into this same issue over the holiday weekend and got it fixed with this post:

Using an at&t SGT with overcome 1.3.0. Long time linux user, and well-indoctrinated into homenetworking. Somewhere > novice but < journeyman android user (got an n1 spring of '10 and my SGT in 1/2011)
At home I use wi-fi most of the time on my sgt. I have an imap server in my home lan, and want to connect to it and check mail from my SGT (while on my home lan). I have done the manual imap setup with default email client -- no worky. I have tried K9 too--no worky. Both rather quickly say 'cannot connect'. I have used both my imaps server's ip and name -- no wroky. I have used both port 143 (default imap) and 1143 on my SGT (yes i changed my server to listen to those ports, too) -- no worky.
Finally i can ssh fine to the box running the imap server from my SGT. I can telnet to my router from my SGT, too. Monitoring some of the logs on the imap box doesn't even show any sort of hiccup that the SGT even got to the server (while attempting to imap).
Imap works ok from thunderbird to the target imap. . .
Any ideas where to check next?

Almost fixed. Turns out my SGT was probably not at fault...
There is/was some wicked combo of selinux and iptables that was blocking inbound connections and then i had issues binding to ports using the ip of the host (when iptables was sorted out).
The later bind issue still persists but running the imap/mail server (who's ports are > 1000) as root fixes that. . . User space apps not binding to ports >1000 is new to me. . .been running fedora core versions since its beginning and haven't had this issue before. The imap host is a fc 13box; disabling selinux didnt help, either. I guess this is no longer an android issue. . .
Besides i am just talking to myself anyways...

is there a way I can work the built in VPN client to connect to a VPN using IPSec mode
i'm kind of a noob regarding this issue
i have the directions on how to set up the connection in an iPhone using the IPSec mode
i have
> server address
> account name
> password
> group name
> secret
for the connection
now, how do i work this into the android client
i tried configuring using different combinations of this info above
but it says "Unable to connect to network. Try again?"
i have a rooted samsung galaxy s 2.2 stock froyo
any help is really appreciated
tia
edit: the handset is technically a samsung captivate, although I don't suppose it'll make a difference
Unfortunately the stock Android kernel won't work with a VPN requiring a Group Name. If you've got a google account (eg a gmail address) you might want to add another star to issue 3902 to ask for this to be fixed.
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3902
It can be done if you replace the firmware with something which includes the tun device. The Galaxy SII supposedly includes this out of the box.
The alternative is to reconfigure the VPN to use L2TP/IPSec and authenticate with a certificate rather than preshared key.

Sorry those two links, well, aren't links. Being new here I'm not allowed to post links in case I'm a spammer.

Using only the built-in VPN client it's not possible to connect to a Cisco VPN.
I made a small How-To (Link) to get this working on 2.3.3, but I think this way should basically work for FroYo too. Maybe you should give it a try
