[Q] SlimBean & download mode? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i've on my SGS GT-I9000 a SlimBean Rom 4.2.2 Build 2.5, with kernel Semaphore JB 2.9.15s
I can't put my phone into download mode either with the key combination (vol down + home + power), nor via adb (with adb reboot download). The phone does just a "normal" reboot. Someone can help me to "enable" download mode via software?
Thx

install ROM manager by ficeto, give root access, and select download mode.

even with rom manager, the phone reboot normally and not enter in download mode...
i've to add a particular thing: when i try to reboot into that mode, the battery is drained (from 60% to 5%.... i think just break the statistics and not really drain the battery) :-S

i don't know when i "lost" my download mode... if it can be useful, my ROM history is:
DarkyRom 10.2
Cyanogenmod 9
DarkyRom 11.0
SlimBean 4.2.2 build 1
SlimBean 4.2.2 build 2.5

darkys rom changin to miui need help

ahmmmm
im kinda new i came from darky's rom 10.2 final jvq.. firmware 2.3.4.. i want to know how can i change to miui please tell me step by step or give me a link .. i kinda see some people saying that you need to go back to froyo etc.. can some one put a link how to do it ?? !!
Download froyo, download Miui, download Odin, download speedmod kernel for froyo, put Miui on internal sd, turn off phone, put into download mode (vol down + home + power) open Odin on PC, connect phone, extract froyo, in Odin tick repartition to the left of the screen, insert .pit file in the pit slot and vice versa for all the others, click start, disconnect phone, rush through settings as they won't matter, turn off phone, put into download mode again, connect to Odin, UNTICK repartition, in the PDA slot insert the speedmod kernel, click start, disconnect phone, once booted, reboot into recovery (vol up + home + power, once you see white writing, release all three buttons) scroll to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, advanced speedmod settings, wipe dalvik cache, install zip from sd, choose zip, select Miui, wait till done, select go back, then reboot system now, then Viola!

LOL, The latest MIUI (official or Galnet) need a Gingerbread bootloader. Then if you are on Darky 10.2
1. Download a latest MIUI (official or Galnet) and Cyanogen #82.
2. Put it in your Phone Memory
3. Go to Recovery
4. Flash the latest Cyanogen
5. Then go again to recovery > Mount and Storage and: Format your System / Cache / Data
6. Flash MIUI
Optional
1. Download a Modem what you want from > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158783
2. Download a kernel, i suggesting a platypus > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053304
Its flashable to recovery

Ye, i said in other thread about, Gingerbread bootloader give to MIUI / CM7 new life

recovery and download modes not working

for download mode it is power+home+vol down - i've tried this and it doesnt work nor does the vol up to get into recovery
the phone is rooted and has cwm installed on a stock kj4 based rom
any tips?
got it working now : mods feel free to delete this

[Q] Two recoveries

Now i have tried installing cwm through rom manager and successfully installed it, now if I go into the recovery mode through rom manager it shows the new recovery but if I go into the recovery mode through the combo (volume up button home button and power button) it goes back into the old recovery ie dark core recovery, so that means I have two recoveries in my sgs? Please help, thanks in advance
uninstall rom manager i read somewhere it doesnt work verywell .
ok, then please tell that how can i update this dark core recovery to the latest cwm recovery???
Installing CWM-recovery with Rommanager doesn´t work with the SGS. You have to flashe another Kernel which already includes the Clockworkmodrecovery I don´t know which CWM-Version the DarkCore has but i tried different Kernels an they all had Version 3. If you are on a Gingerbread Stockrom you can try flashing the Semaphore Kernel(Root+a lot of different Improvements). This one I had for a long time. I think it included CWM V 3. Now I'm on Teamhacksungs ICS and I have V5
i am using darky's rom 10.2 and i have to shift to cm7.1 so thats why i have to update my recovery to cwm latest... didn't know how to flash kernel in my phone, coz my friend did all that, and i am a noob

[Q] wont boot in os

hey fellow android user. i just recently updated my semaphore kernel to 2.1.1 now it wont boor into the os. what should i do to reverse the proces or how can i acces my sdcard so i can tranfer the old kernel in cwm mode.
pls helppppppppppppppp

phone samsung galaxy s gt-i9000, rom is c-rom bean v1.6.5. i can access recovery and download mode.
2.1.1 (18/09/2012)
[...]
Please make sure that your ROM is compatible with this patch (CM10 - 20120917 or later)
Is your ROM compatible? If not, use 2.1.0 or another kernel.
Just jump into recovery and restore backup. You did take a backup, didn't you??
GT-I9000 / SEMA / SLIMBEAN2.3
Flash 2.1.0 via Odin and next time, read what Stratosk writes.
after a long struggle i got out. had to use odin and reflash gb. then i put ics the jb. now my phone works perfect
2.1.0 via Odin would have been enough but anyways.

Samsung Galaxy S2 [SGH-I757M][Bell] How to root and How to install a custom rom.

This is a guide as I was finally able to root my phone. Every time I tried to root through CF it soft-bricked with a red android and would not boot ( If your in this state, use odin and flash the stock firmware from sammoble). I am no master at flashing but I did spend days on end and this method should be fool proof. For me the other ways of flashing the galaxys2bell file did not root it.
I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone. ( Nothing should happen but just to cover my AS)
For ROOT:
1. Download Odin3 v1.85 and flash the latest version of Clockwork Recovery HERE
2. Unzip Odin and CWM
2 1/2 . Boot the phone into Download Mode. ( Shutdown, then hold Power + Volume Down)
3. Plug in your phone and you should see that a yellow box is filled up with a COM#
4. Insert the latest version of the Clockwork Recovery in the BOOT-LOADER make sure it is ticked and flash away.
5. Remove the battery after Odin says PASS
6. Put the battery back in and hold the Power + Volume Down + Volume Up until you see it boot with letters on the screen, let go and wait for 20 seconds.
7. If it is booted into recovery restart the phone and go into the google play store.
8. Download SuperSU
9. Open the app and select "TWRP/CWM method" on the popup
10. The phone should automatically restart and go into recovery, it should install the SU binaries
11. Enjoy your Custom recovery and your SU privileges
For CUSTOM ROM:
(Have a Modem for JB)
1. Boot into CWM, make sure you have the latest version 6.00^. (Shutdown then hold the Power + Volume Down + Volume Up)
2. Wipe/ Factory Reset Option > Install a New Rom
3. Install a zip option > Locate the SD card with your ROM , GAPPS, and MODEM
4. Install the MODEM FIRST
5. Install the ROM SECOND
5. Install GAPPS THIRD
For XPOSED ( For KK or Lower)
1. Go to the Xposed's website and download the Xposed Installer (Not on the play store)
2. Go into settings and allow installation of unknown applications.
3. Install the Xposed installer.
4. Open the app and give it SU permissions.
5. Phone will automatically reboot and install Xposed.
6. Install modules and enjoy.
Rom I currently use: Slim KitKat.
I recommend you find micro-gapps for kitkat.
IF ANYTHING DOES GO WRONG just don't panic. Try and boot your phone into download mode and flash the stock Firmware.

will there be any unofficial builds of android lolipop for this device or is it done? Im just wondering because the original s2 gets a lot of support so I think this one should too.

There is no more official support for our S2 AFAIK, although in the FAQ I remember reading something about our model having the ability to flash Roms built for another kind of S2. Don't take my word as Bible, but it's possible I think. In short, no official support, but there is still hope. Check out the skyrocket model of the S2.
