Official jellybean - low memory error! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am on official indian jellybean updated via kies, unrooted. I keep getting this message many times a day: Application being closed due to low memory error.
I did a factory reset and just restored my smemos before the upgrade. I also formatted the internal memory and sd card. Anybody else got this and any solutions?

Our problem seems to be never ending. Same thing happened to me. I had a backup of all the apps that i had in ICS using titanium and restored after installing JB and got the low internal memory warning . No idea whats happening. Used rom tool box to assign apps to be installed in SD card. Lets see what happens.

My warning is not about internal memory but ram. I have about 65 apps installed, had 95 on ics, though it was a bit non smooth but there wasn't any lag in opening apps but with jellybean opening apps lags like hell, especially gallery and snote app :banghead:

This update is worst than the leaked jelly bean.

Official JB
I've used the official JB for a long time and I dont think it's so bad. The RAM issue can occur on any system. I keep only favorite applis and delete never used applis, my RAM has always 200 MB free.

Remove the system apps using tb which you don't use in daily like google+, samsung apps, etc. Then you can get a smooth jb rom

Also I wish to know does factory reset helps with sluggishness of the phone?

[Q] Galaxy S Messaging app missing

I was using Titanium Backup Pro and was integrating updates into system apps and i lost my messaging app. Titanium backup says it is still installed but i cant open it and i cant uninstall it either.
I'm currently getting by with Handcent but i want my stock app back.
Can anyone help me get my messaging app back or do i have to stick with Handcent?
Any help is appreciated.
I'm using a Rooted Samsung Galaxy S GT-I1900M
Android Version 2.2
Rooted with Superuser
(hope all this stuff helps)
Only thing I think of is flash a new rom or reflash the one your using and your messaging app should show up

I would have tried that but i'm scared ill brick my phone. i have bad luck when it comes to doing things like this. i pink screened my iPod once.
Download a custom ROM, download "File Manager HD" from Market, enable root access in the settings and push Mms.apk from Custom ROM Zip into system/app

If i do that will I lose any of the data on the internal SD? I was thinking of doing factory reset but I'd lose all the stuff on my internal SD
Sent from my GT-I9000M using xda app-developers app
Factory reset only deletes the apps, system and accounts. If you are still on Froyo, I'd recommend you to flash a Gingerbread ROM, or even an ICS one. You can backup your apps with some file managers too, but you'll lose all user data from them.
But as long as you don't wipe "sdcard" you'll keep all your music, photos and documents stores on your internal memory, even after dozens of flashes.

Do you think you could help me through the flashing process? Or send me a link to a guide I could use

Wife's galaxy s

Hi my wife's galaxy s has started turning the screen on at random..and continuously sometimes. This as we know will start ruining the battery.I've had many issues with her ics. For some reason since installing a kernel. It messed it all up somehow the remains of the boot image or kernel etc is still onboard thankfully I still can boot her. Can't apply custom roms at all. I can send an official rom from the PC but that's it. I managed to get gb on. Its started randomly turning the screen on. Fairly certain its not the rom she's had it since last year
Any ideas? Is there anyway to totally strip the phone of virtually everything to the core and start against

If you think its a kernel issue you could run a kernel cleaner script then reflash, but my sgs did this when it got water damage almost exactly as your described
Sent from my GT-I9000 running remICS-UX using XDA premium
Thanks for the reply do you know where the kernel script is?

Do a nandroid backup. Then copy necessary files to SD card (rom, kernel, modem, whatever.)
Then format /system and do a factory reset. Then do a fresh install of your kernel and rom.
Then in cwm go to backup and restore, advanced restore, and restore her data!
Then your phone is fresh .
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166954 here you go read the guide and flash it , I seriously doubt the other suggestion will work as the nandroid backup restores it to exactly how it was before I mean like if your wifi was left on it will be on after you restore exact, so what ever bug is doing this will almost defiantly restore aswell
Sent from my GT-I9000 running remICS-UX using XDA premium
It will work we are just saving data like settings and apps.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Ill just back up apps. And SMS etc that's it. Need a new rom anyway

It backs all the system apps up aswell and every single thing so if there is a bug it will restore that aswell... your better off just redownloading the Alps from play market after and using a sms backup app if you want a clean install

increase internal memory N7000

please ,is there any way to increase the system storage ?
i have rocketrom jb v2..:crying:
Is there a way...system has only 800mb and adding files makes it hard...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Same here . Waiting for a kernel so I can use 2swap again, which works by using a patrician on the internal SD to make it ram
Sent from the man in Your attic.....
Create an ext partition, on sdcard in ext2 and install link2sd https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=fr
or use the script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387 I did not test this solution
Your making your life really complicated, u can possibly brick your phone messing with the internal memory.. just buy an 32g external and problem will be solved
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Link2sd have been working great with me since gb and ics. You will not brick your device if you carefully root your device. I'm using 64gig xdhc.
Just do what i do. Delete 2-300 MB of crap from the ROM

Delete what? Unnecessary crap? Go to system/app and remove things you don't need/want. I suspect that you're a bit noobish, so check out the thread, "Applications that's Safe To Remove", or something like that (just scroll up).

Link2SD works just great for me, even on JB ROMs using PhilZ kernels cz it is the only root kernel that I found which supports ext4 sd partitions...

Or repartition your phones internal memory.

Keep out microsd, Go in cwm, partition sd-card internal, then format reinstall Rom... in android go in play store install link2sd, launch app first time, then you can install all other app.

If I understand the question correctly, he wants to know how to increase RAM, not storage. Storage is not a big deal both internal or external. But RAM is only 800+M and mostly 700+M is occupied and makes Note sluggish sometimes. Anyway, this is my first post at xda and greetings to each & every1 of you
Use TB
Just install Titanium Backup and goto Batch mode then scroll down to Un-Install all user and system apps. Then follow this link https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html to see whats safe to remove. Remove all that you do not require and you will find a huge difference in space which will speed up your device as well. Hope this helps.

This post explains how:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887864
You need at least noob knowledge of adb (ie copy-pasting commands).
The second command was
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
rather than
parted /dev/block/mmcblock0
I've just done it on my Note.
Hi. I also facing this problem. Actually wat have cause this problem??

Help

I need help, currently my os is the jellybean version. All along my fone always have lots of apps running behind til I reduce to 6-8 apps. But lately I try to update apps, it prompt me insufficient memory. I tried my ways to stop apps to run but still can't. I check my device memory is only 202mb. Usbstorage got 7.52gb. May I ask wat is the root problem. I really wanted to do a hard reset to factory setting. Anyways can help...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Hard reset on jb isn't safe. If you have not root your phone then root with philz safe kernel. Then only do hard reset.
Everytime you uninstalling an app make sure to clear data first so that it could free some memory which previously used by the app.
Your running out of storage memory or ram?

Is your device rooted?
When you open file manager how much GB does it say available in "sdcard"
It's always so much harder when you have to try (David Gray).
OK. When I open the file manager, my sd card definitely have enough memory cos I still have 24gb memory. I believe is my device memory in the fone, giving me problem.

I got this msg... can anyone tells me how should I rectify it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Device rooted? If you are, go to folder root/data/log and delete some logs with name something like dumpstate_ril_RESET_BY_CP_SILENTRESET_20130801070641.
Deleting these files frees up space. About 6mb per file. No adverse effect so far for me. Not sure about deleting other files.
Sent from my GT-N7000
Thanks. But I have not rooted my note. Now I'm facing lots of app unable to use. Reason due to insufficient storage to sync.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
It might not help but you could try avg cleaner off of the play store or else disk defragmenter
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Like what i mentioned before. It is most likely that those file are created by system and stored in you root partition. The only way i know is to root the phone and delete those files.
Sent from my GT-N7000
May I ask what is the recommended software for rooting my fone?
Anyway I have check with the samsung service centre. I was told the device is for install apps., so I only have 2gb of apps.
For the deleting of files, I worried I might delete the wrong files and cause malfunction of the fone.. I guess I need to delete some folders in the fone

Search for Philz thread and read it. That is the easiest and safe way to root N7000. As for logs deleting, the logs filename i mentioned is safe for deleting.
