hello xda developers team
i am really excited to be a part of this big community ..... anyway i really need a big favor of one of the great developers regarding multi booting procedure on my samsung galaxy note gt-n7000 :
i tried the Dual Boot 5Roms G-Note [TW, CM9&CM10] method but it seems old enough for the official jelly bean update from samsung .... so can anyone help me to successfully multi boot these roms :
1. samsung official jelly bean 4.1.2 LSB - UAE : As my main rom
2. Sweet rom ICS 4.0.4 v5 : Secondary , Mainly to use it with the amazing garmin street pilot 1.49 until jelly bean version stabilize
3. Cyanogen Rom jb 4.2.2+ : as to be kept up to date with this amazing rom
i usually install excess roms on internal sdcard rom1 and rom 2
the main problem i think is with dual booting jb and ics ,,,, i tried too many kernels already ,,, about 80% of those in the [JB][ICS][GB] Kernel Repository actually but nothing seems to be dual boot - able with an easy method !!
i can dual boot between ics roms just fine when i was on ics samsung and sweetrom v5 , only menu press while booting is reqiured
i can boot official jb with 17.03.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v4.89.4 with CWM 6.0.2.9 based recovery just fine , or speed mod kernel k5-1 and k5-2
when i need to go to ics : the nightmare starts by flashing Chuan_Dualboot_Aroma_v2.3c.zip and mounting the 2nd rom partitions and then flashing Chuan_Dualboot_Aroma_v2.3c.zip AGAIN to setting default rom on rom1 sdcard and flash a dual boot kernel then reboot !
i really need to dual boot with the easiest way possible and never to flash kernels all the day for switching from a rom to another !!
by the way : 2nd and 3rd roms seems to have only 0.96 gb of data storage ,,,, this sucks actually because i usually use about 1.34gb Without garmin sp which takes up to 180mb additional on the data partition ,,,, so this is a problem too !! , i really would like to have an option for 1.5 - 2gb data partition allocation , please no talking around for and link2sd or other stuff cause i am a really heavy torrent user on my 32gb microsd card and would like every thing separated as possible !
btw : i never tried Cyanogen Mod before but when dual boot is good enough between those two roms ( jplsb-uae , sweet rom v5 ) i might take a look at it ...
thanks for taking time and reading my post !
yours
sniper9911
one more thing
i also found another thing that bothers me A LOT !!
when i try to do a restart from sweet rom v5 ics 4.0.4 ( which is on sdcard rom1 ) and device shuts down then galaxy note logo appears ..... sometimes after that it hangs at a black screen consuming alot of battery .... i could never get this ics rom to boot afterwards until i did this :
i managed to go to cwm vol up + power + home and then flash philz jb kernel , boot jb rom , restart , go to recovery again , mount sd rom 1 partitions , set boot properties , flash hydracore 4.3 std kernel ( which i always flash no matter what , i tried the oc version which worked because my note voltage is group b but too much battery consumption made me revert back to std ) and finally reboot and choose to boot from sd rom 1 !!
what i am missing here ?!
thanks anyway

I have the same wish
Hi! I have the same wish as you, i need dual boot for The Official Samsung Android 4.1.2 with TouchWiz and also with SlimWizz2 wich has a tablet interface with TouchWiz also, but i couldn't manage to dualboot them. I also wanted to dual boot them with xperiaNote but no way ! We need a kernel for dualbooting TouchWiz based ROMs, one to work as Siyah kernel...i hope someone will hear us...

I would like that too ,,, Wait i have an idea !
can we get a hand with a script by our beloved developers to mount partitions, flash kernels , and reboot using chaundualbootaromav2.3.zip in the dual boot menu derctly ! ,,,, in this way every time we press on the rom we want we can boot to it very fast
i would like to choose which kernel to flash and to change the boot menu name for my rom too ,,, using this way we can multiboot GB , ICS , JB , and CM 4.2.2 too ... but the kernels needs to be modified to be multiboot-able !
i love the speed of hydracore v7 on sweetrom v5 ,,,, the same speed as a note ii and very aggressive too ( 874mb ram ! ) but the video support sucks actually on this rom plus the camera drivers needs to be modified last picture taken on stays on the screen ,,, but its okay even if it is stayed just like that , just add dual boot support please !
I noticed an exciting thing too with the latest hydracore ,, when you play where's my water , where's my perry it seems silky smooth at first and a lot of physics particles with higher resolution appears ( i would say like note ii but i have never played it on that monster ! ) ( and when alot of water particles are on screen you get arount 10 - 7 fps ) and it seems no matter what you do battery does really suck on this kernel ,, talking about standard version here for sure
one more thing about hydracore v7 : when i play games with this amazing kernels it seems to be consuming the battery in a way that i experienced a very strange thing : battery low notification appears on my screen while playing so i plug my ( 2A , 5v output ) charger from samsung and the battery seems to get lower values ( as if the charger is not enough or the device doesnt benefit from it ) as long as i am playing ( i.e : using gpu , cpu together ) ,,, i think this is a fault by this kernel
also i would like speedmod kernel k3-15 for stable usage and it charges while playing but i misssed the huge performance gap between speedmod and hydracore v7
If anyone can help us we would appreciate it too....
any ideas ?
any ideas guys ?
please devs .... help us here
still waiting
Devs. Are you there ?
Can You Help US ?
WE NEED MULTI BOOT !!!!
Hello!
Somebody help us !!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you hear us???? Helllloooo !!!

Helloo! Siyah Kernel doesn't support Galaxy Note N7000, and it will never appear a compatible version with it !!!!
Woah! Don't disappoint me bro, we will get the siyah kernel, there was a talk of that too. Siyah is a very good kernel not just for a dual boot but also the other capabilities. Wherebdid u see that note won't have the siyah kernel?

Hi,
I'm with a lot of problems with the battery life duration in the Galaxy Note. I'm with the 'fuel_alerted' and 'l2_hsic' problems that are draining my battery in ~6hrs even with all of data and connection disabled.
I tryed to remove the battery and put it again but it still with this problem.
Now I have decided to change my GNote and put an Custom Rom. I'm using the ICS 4.0.3 Official Samsung Germany Rom in a brazilian GNote.
Anybody knows what kernel I can install and what rom has all features like S-Pen and S-apps with all of widgets that i have in touchwiz? (note that i don't like touchwiz, but i like the widgets that are in this launcher)
I read something about some bricks problems too when installing customs roms in gnote. I have changed my roms since my old Milestone 1 and then with the SGSI without problems. In Galaxy Note do i have any special process?
Best,
Leandro
Try kingdroid v3
it's not that custom ROMs can kill your note ,it's actually a bug in the official ICS kernel (i.e what you are using atm) that causes the internal NAND memory to fry when you wipe or flash something while on that kernel ,you can read the sticky for more details .
the only safe method out is to flash a GB kernel using PC ODIN then flash a custom ROM using GB recovery.
there also a few custom ICS kernels which are safe ,this includes CM9 ,speedmod ICS ,franco ics r3 and above.
you could wait till tomorrow and flash cm920120614 directly from LPY as cm9 team has implemented a safety lock against this bug in their cm9 flashable zip.
note however that the last option have not been tested yet and you will take a chance if you try it.
I'm a newbie in this forum. and also newbie with android, especially with samsung galaxy note.
accidently, i succesfully super bricked my new smartphone, which is samsung galaxy note i bought about 2 weeks ago, samsung galaxy note officially ICS stock rom LQ2.
i'm not quite understand with this kind of rom.
after met samsung service center, and thanks to my "sweet" talk, they agreed to replace with new phone even though i got exclamation mark.
-----
and thanks to dr ketan, i rooted my samsung galaxy note once again using fast way + notecore v12 .. and thanks to chainfire who make triangle away.
-----
after i read some threads in general. i'm kinda intrested with custom rom such paranoid from imilka.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802
but after i bricked my note last week, i'm kinda affraid to custom my note once again.
so I need your advice ..
i'm not understand with
DON'T flash FROM ANY SAMSUNG ICS OR ROMS BASED ON SAMSUNG KERNELS (my CM9, AOSP, etc) Flash any stock GB rom with odin / or any GB kernel [instructions] root device [instructions] and reboot into recovery once again before flashing this
Install Rom: http://d-h.st/I9m
Install HYBRID Gapps: http://www.paranoid-rom.com/index.ph...pps-hybrid.zip
Wipe caches, factory reset is a must if you're coming from another rom than CM9
If your statusbar is gone after the first reboot: longpress Powerbutton > Toggle Statusbar
Reboot and edit your Apps Dpi under Settings/Paranoid Settings/P.A.D. Hold the powerbutton to see the new fullscreen-togglebutton
ok now i want to ask :
my rom is official samsung ics + notecore v12 kernel. do i need to flash my note into stock gb rom? so if i need to flash into gb, which gb i must download ? dr.ketan give us an option to choose, directly rootable and non rootable directly. what is that mean?
which one should i choose ? and how about the kernel ? do kernel change after i flash GB stock rom ? or i need to change my kernel too ?
and if i need to flash other kernel ? which one is a good one kernel ? especially for custom rom like cyanogenmod9 or paranoid.
sorry for my bad english.
i need your advice.

Just flashing gb kernel like abyss kernel..
Reboot factory..
Do the full wipe..
Flashing the rom...
Flashing gapps..
Reboot normaly..
Done..
Thor kernel is a nice kernel for aokp or aosp rom..
Thor have 3 options..
Normal
Extream
Burn
Chose one of them..

Flash prerooted GB ROM first (http://d-h.st/HJM)
wipe cache and data from recovery then
-Install Rom: http://d-h.st/I9m
-Install HYBRID Gapps: http://www.paranoid-rom.com/index.ph...pps-hybrid.zip
-Wipe caches, factory reset is a must if you're coming from another rom than CM9
And being a newbie, i HIGHLY SUGGEST you stay away from experimental roms.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
and what do you mean with experimental rom? what if that rom is cyanogen mod9?

:laugh::laugh::laugh:
Experimental ROMs are those ROMs which are not stable i.e. which are very buggy and have (sometimes) major issues.
Eg. Here and here
They say clearly that many things are not working.Don't flash these as a noob. We'll help if you run into troubles,of course, but its better to stay away until you learn more.
Anyways, I'd better say this before the lynching party gets here:
""PREVIEW DISCLAIMER:
This is a PREVIEW : CyanogenMod 10 is nowhere near ready to be used as a daily driver (lots of features still have to be merged)""
as copied from the CM10 dev thread.
i am quite confsed..
i am a developer from htc wildfire s forum..
i have my brother owning galaxy note..
i flashed the CM10 (unofficial ) on my device he was quite impressed with the JB in such a low end phone.. (htc wildfire s is armv 6 with only 600 mhz with no support for hd gaming.. not even temple run works on it )
so he said me to root his device.. n flash the CM10 rom in it..
so as the guide said i rooted the phone..
(i also installed mobile odin n triangle away from market )
then i googled n realised there is something called binary counter..
n then i also realised that many users are having problem in flashing the CWM. (its kernel dependent i guess,, n i dont know which one to use.. i flashed the hydracore v3 kernel)
so i am likke WTF how to back up the rom?
N now if i want to flash a rom i can do it with odin.. but then how will i revert back to my ICS(the current rom ie the stock rom ,)
can plz someone answer to my questions...
LONG story in Short :
1) how to backup (without increasing the counter)
2)How to restore backup without getting the device bricked.

So I am sort of new to the Android world and so far this forum's been very helpful,
I bought a second hand device with Criskelo ROM ICS v11 installed , and I have 3.0.15 NoteCore v11.1 Kernel.
Android version 4.0.4
Phone is note very stable. I am not sure if thats the case will all androids but when i compare to ios its sort of pathetic.
I want to remove Criskelo , maybe get something much lighter and with less bugs.
I've read many guides but I still dont get a few things :
1- What are CM9 and CM10 ? are those custom ROMs?
2- I read somewhere that my kernel is "safe". Does this mean I wont brick my phone no matter what i flash/install/remove ?
3- Also Are there different versions for Stock ROMs around ? I thought a stock rom for ICS 4.0.4 would be "unique" . This thread is a bit confusing
4- I am thinking of giving Paranoid Android a try but I read on a different site that I would lose my s-pen sensitivity and s-note access.
5- Lets say I want to install PA, is it better if I go to stock , then root then install PA or install PA without reverting back to stock ROM in the first place?
Sorry for my bad english ,
Thank you all

hi
1/ CM9 and CM10 are costom roms called AOKP that means this roms are not based on the stock rom ,it is based on the android open source project . this rom does not have the TW (touchWizz) suport.
2/ your karnel is safe mean that the eMMC_erase_cape was disabled by the developer ,and you can do wipes without riscks ,but flashing some thing dangerous can brick your phone.
3/ yes there is alot of stock release I list some : LQ2 ,LQ3 ==> 4.0.3 and LRG LRI LRK LRQ ==> 4.0.4 my favorite is LRQ.
4/ yes paranoid is not a TW rom it is an AOKP rom no suport for Spen and no Spen applications ,but it is a nice rom you should try it.
5/ you can install PA from any rom ,if you are on crisklo's or any other stock based roms you must do a full wipe affter the installation ,or it will not boot.
I think I answer to all your questions ,my english is bad sorry for that .
any other questions I will be here
thanx

1 its AOSP not AOKP.... AOKP its another custom rom like cm9/10 Wich are builded from AOSP.
2 its KERNEL universal software term for that part of the OS you don't need to know English to write it properly.
3 -
4 PA its not AOKP and it's compiled from CM10 sources.
5 you need to wipe when changing roms no matter what.. You just gotta be sure you are on a safe kernel before doing so

1/ thats what I was sayying.
2/ thanx for the correction (I hate linux any way)
3/
4/ no we don't need wipe if we are going from an cmX to CMX and if we are going from stock/based stock to stock/based stock without changing CSC .
re : I noticed that you treat noobs like sh*t on this forum ,we are humains !!
I didn't do any thing wrong I think ...
Thanks All
I just installed stock ICS 4.0.4
All my data is still there, i dont know maybe i need to wipe AFTER i install stock.
The way I've done it is : put phone in odin mode ( volume down , power and home key )
connect to pc
load odin , load the image and click start
and that was pretty much it , at no point did i have to wipe reset all data. ( i wanted to but i dont know why it didnt happen ) so all my data and apps are still there
I believe I am not rooted at the moment. and my Kernel has now changed back to : 3.0.15 - N7000XXLRK-CL811902
I would like to root the phone and also wipe all data if possible.
Should i change my kernel as a first step ? and if yes give me a safe way /tutorial link
thanks
You are not rooted and you need to do a full wipe
But it should be done only with a safe kernel
Flash hydracore kernel and you will automatically get rooted and then ,its safe to do a full wipe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
Never do a full wipe on stock kernel
Can someone tell me if there is a major problem in making oc kernels,& ones that can use apps like 2swap to give much needed extra ram on jb roms?
Thx.

1) Well the best thing that u can try r8 now is that u can get a Jelly Bam Rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996033
( Download the latest version of jelly bam )
2) Than after that google for thor kernel and download it and flash it ( It supports Oc/Uc and also it supports GPU Oc/Uc )
Remember that Overclocking can only be well done on the CM10 builds !! Oc won't work on touchwiz perfectly !!
TO OVERCLOCK TOUCHWIZ ------------
1) Download any JB Touchwiz rom
2) Download Maxfu Kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053084
But remember JB Touchwiz isn't worth giving a shot yet to be OC'd !!! JB is the best version to experiment with r8 now but ICS version is real stable and perfect for everything ( Gaming ....... Ram usage ........... Battery life ........... Performance ) !!
-------------------------------- BEST OPTION TO DO NOW ------------------------------------
Wait 4 samsung to release JB Source code and official JB ......... Coz definitely after this all JB roms will be stable and Far cry in case of performance considering Ics !!
