So I loaded the Blurry Maxx ROM onto my bionic using safestrap 3.11, found that I didn't quite like it and the camera didn't work. So I cleared that and moved to Icarus, where the camera worked on initial startup, but after rebooting will no longer initialize.
Everything else appears to be working fine, and I didn't drop the device or anything that might suggest it's a hardware concern as it boots up fine on each ROM installation. Thoughts?

Hey guys.
Having a bizarre issue with my wife's G1. Scrolling (using the touch screen) has stopped working in the browser. However it works everywhere else (home screens, other apps, etc).
I suggested that she install "Dolphin Browser" from the Market and see if it worked in that. However, it's not working in that browser either!
She's running the latest Cyanogen ROM, and prior to installing the ROM, she wiped from CM Recovery. It can't be to do with the ROM though, as it worked after she flashed the ROM, and it just randomly stopped working earlier today.
What should I try to fix it?
Bizarrely enough....it started working again. Very strange.
I keep getting same problem.... Reboot normally fixes it.
Soooo I've been using cm7 since it was still nightly 1 but I havent really had any wonk issues. However recently my camera, no longer works, the app loads fine but when you attempt to take a pic it force closes.... Heres where it gets strange apps that use the camera like google docs the camera works fine.... The other camera apps in the market work fine just not the stock camera app..
Has any one else had these issues?

Has this occurring since you flashed it, or did it develop afterward? I would try clearing camera data see what happens.
it was random and I tried wiping camera data but I also tried reloading from titanium still no fix
Then maybe you will need to either factory reset or do a clean install.

My camera app randomly stopped working recently. Not upon an update, but randomly. (CM7 stable) I wiped the device, reflashed the ROM/Gapps, and it still is broken. When you tap to launch it, it just restarts the device (same if launched from another app, such as barcode scanner, etc.). I also tried deleting its data, to no avail.
Anybody figure this out?
What version is your radio/baseband (Settings -> About Phone -> Baseband)? We go off the two sets of numbers after the underscore "_". Something like 4.06 or 5.08...
Mine's 5.08.00.04
Try a more recent version of CM7. Much have been updated since RC1.
If still having problems a clean wipe usually does the trick.
Sorry, my bad. This problem started with CM7. I then clean wiped and tried CM7.1.0 RC1, and that's what's running right now (with no difference on the camera).
When you wiped the device, was this through ROM Manager? If so, you may want to try a system-only wipe. Under clockworkmod you can do it in the mounts and storage menu. If you are running amon_ra, you will need to use a flashable zip that will wipe it for you. Temasek has one somewhere in here http://mediafire.com/temasek
Then reinstall CM and gapps. This won't cause any data loss.
I had wiped it from ROM Manager, so I followed your instructions (I am running clockworkmod). Unfortunately, that didn't change anything.
I been running CM7 stable for two weeks and that is one complain I have the picture quality sucks compare to stock android, I have to play with the contrast, saturation and sharpness every time to take a decent picture. As Far as the Camera bugging out on me I don't have any issues.
Did anyone manage to fix this problem WITHOUT taking it to the service centre?
For some reason, I still believe this is a software issue and not a hardware one.
Anybody?
Yeah, my feeling is it has to be software too, but I can't for the life of me seem to solve it. Anybody else have this issue??

Hi All,
I have rooted, installed safestrap, and flashed a rom slot with the google edition that was reported to work here. I flashed the MF3 master patch and also the active call recording patch to resolve a speakerphone issue (here).
Almost everything seems to be working fine but for 2 issues:
1. my camera's viewfinder is very grainy/pixelated when in video mode (this apparently isn't an issue on some other ROMs, more research on my part needed here)
2. when booted in the Google edition ROM, I can't get my computer to mount the file system via USB. Windows device manager indicates the device cannot start When I boot back into stock, it connects to my computer just fine.
I'm going to try to reflash this because when I originally installed this, I jumped the gun and rebooted before wiping dalvik, etc.
I'm also going to try reinstalling the drivers, but it works when I use the stock ROM, so I think drivers are fine.
Any other thoughts on this?

Both are well documented bugs. The video thing doesn't affect the actual recording. Playback looks normal. The USB thing: I think that's the case with all GPE ROMs.

Hello,
I recently installed Mokee over Cyanmod due to the bugs I couldn't seem to get fixed on my Bionic. At first it was running perfect, Wi-Fi works perfectly, I'm not losing downloaded apps anymore, it's fast, my phone doesn't freeze up anymore, it's actually rather wonderful. Last night though, it restarted itself twice, I am assuming, though I am not entirely sure, that it was an update. Unfortunately after that, now my camera doesn't work, I can't download images from online and now I'm getting a "No APN specified on device". The camera and downloaded images are because it says I don't have an SD card installed, though it shows in my "storage" and my file explorer. My job requires that I download pictures from the web and take pictures while on job sites. I know that these features were working before last night and I'm not sure why it changed, except that it could have been the update? I'm at a loss here, I don't want to go back to stock because I hate how slow it is, but I really need this to work out for me. Please, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!! Any ideas?
Maybe restore a backup or try another camera app

Did you install Mokee on top of an existing CyanogenMod instance, or did you use a fresh slot?

To use Stock camera, you've to be in Stock ROM.
May be you'll need to check and flash another set of Gapps or wipe cache
@malli8043 hi, I'm having the same issues with the camera crashing on and on. I've been trying to change settings, cleared cashe, cleaned up dalvik, but ended up getting the error after a while. I installed a different rom (from Lineage 6.1 to Mokee) But after the optimization of the applications it stops working. The problem is that the front camera only works on, but the back camera has some issues with. I opened a discussion on this but no one is answering.

No one is answering...without offence, dude, your cross posting is kinda spam, and will lead you to nowhere! Let's say, more honesty, that you already got your answer, but maybe you didn't like it. For example, I personally adviced you to erase everything in your phone and perform a fully clean flash... Your problem doesn't exist on board the other moto x, do you understand it? So, no one could give you an answer about the how and why you experience such issue. Erase everything, also internal memory, then flash rom + gapps! Good luck
Hi @stefanowall, I didn't get any answer and I'm still waiting for one. I did twice a full clean flash, install the rom, install gapps(nano or pico) but it didn't work. Actually it stops working after the app updates, when it does the optimization of them, I did erase xposed framework, greenify, and all that was suspected in interfering. But the problem still persist. I think it is a binary that gets corrupted along with something else, or is a conflict of camera permission, because I don't understand why the camera settings are changed and only the front camera works, that's why I posted the pictures of the camera settings. The only solution I found was that I flashed a Motorola camera from Lolipop version and after that both cameras were working surprisingly. So I'm testing it now and will let you know if this works. But still I think that there is a conflict or a something like that...
