Google Nexus One keeps restarting. - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

5 days ago, I suddenly found my phone off. I turned it on and it then it kept restarting itself. I tried to remove and re-put the battery, it still kept on restarting itself. My brother tried to do some stuff like clicking on the down-volume + power, but whatever he chose after that, a hat showed up and nothing happened for 30 mins. He tried again and again, the damn hat is all we got. So we decided to wait for my father to come home this Saturday, I took off my SIM card and left the phone, the next day I turned on the phone, it didn't restart itself, so I was happy and all, then I inserted the SIM card, it went back to restarting itself. I didn't touch the phone since then, but today, I took off the SIM card, and the phone is working well, I'm even writing this from my phone. So, what should I do now?
Oh yeah, I installed an AntiVirus a while ago (yes I didn't have one), and it detected a threat which I really don't understand: Unsecure privilege mode detected. Your phone is running in High Privilege mode (i.e., it has been rooted). We recommend using only genuine firmware.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Prior to antivirus installed, did the phone restarted itself? The first step, I would recommend remove the antivirus to see the problem still persist. Which ROM do you currently use?

With or without the Anti-virus installed, the phone keeps restarting itself as long as the SIM card is inserted.

Are you using GB or ICS or JB ROM? ROM manager doesn't affect the restarting problem, I think.

JB. I'm using CyanogenMod.

What's your radio version? Look in the about phone for the baseband version. If you have the latest baseband version 5.08.04 then try to flash a different ROM to see the problem still persist, making sure you do full wipes before flashing.

Yes it's the latest version, how do I flash a different ROM? :/

How did you flashed JB ROM? The process is the same.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app

It's my brother who had flashed it. And, he was trying to flash a new ROM but everytime he tried to, the ROM Manager's hat showed up and remained there forever.

Don't use ROM manager to flash a ROM. Flash it in recovery.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app

Yes I know, that's what we were trying to do, but the hat shows up and nothing happens.

recovery might be corrupted. flash a new recovery (4ext)

Vivid bricked by rom toolbox :(

I've used rom toolbox forever now for changing system fonts. Well today I decide to change again. RT was recently updated, and after rebooting to apply the font, my vivid now gets stuck at the at&t animation. Won't go past. I've done several reboots and battery pulls to no avail. My phone is unlocked and rooted, but other than doing those two things I'm a complete noob. I have no idea how to fix this.

If you are rooted i take it you have cwm recovery or something similar. If so boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvic cache. May work may, not let me know

Are you Soff
If so boot into recovery and restore last backup

And that don't relock bootloder and run the stock ruu , it has yet to fail me with errors
I'm s-on. I wasn't comfortable trying to s-off. I emailed the rom toolbox Dev and the only suggestion he had that was feasible was to flash a new rom. I'm game to try it, I just have no idea how to pick one or install it. Senseless sounds good to me, and one with a better camera would be great. Lte isn't needed, it'll never be available here anyway.
Edit: wiping both cashe did nothing. Still sitting at "rethink possible."

Your just soft bricked. I've done it myself, go messing with something and bam the phone won't boot. It easily fixable by flashing a rom. Actually wiping data might be an even easier fix. I deleted some bloat and caused a boot loop, clearing the cache didn't work either but when I wiped again all is good.

How long is it sitting at that screen? You may want to do a factory data reset. You will lose any settings, app and messages you had but at least you may get booted
I managed to flash the virtuous Inquisition rom. But I have no signal and no data connection.
And yes I had my sim card in lol.

OK I had VI installed and running great last night. Got my signal fixed, spent around 5 hours getting my phone back to where it was. I wake up this morning, accidentally dropped my phone and now it doesn't have a signal again...
OK I can get a signal but it's VERY weak, not strong enough for anything really. But this area is notorious for having a crap signal.

Phone not booting after the JB's installation

Hi guys,
I installed JB on my droid 4. It was running the stock ICS from Motorola. I used this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199741
I installed it by wiping the normal slot and put the zip file on the first rom slot.
I was able to boot on it without any problems, and I unistalled some of the stock apps (such as Verizon stuff, Motorola... I don't quite remember all the names). Since this moment, I didn't reboot my phone and it was fine.
But today I went out of battery, and now my phone wont boot ! I have the "Dual Core Technology", the Safetrap screen, and then blackscreen. Even the Motorola recovery wont work. And the phone doesn't seem to charge for whatever reason.
Is there a way to make my phone boot ? I was thinking about reinstalling ICS and make the update OTA to JB, but since I don't have energy on my phone I don't have time to do this...
Help me !
Thank you.
I'm sure you could just use

And go straight to jb ... But idk just a thought....

Weird issue with phone after wipe

I accidentally soft bricked my phone and ended up just wiping everything and starting from scratch. My issue is when I reflashed CM recovery and side loaded my custom ROM back on I noticed my "swype" texting on my phone wasn't working anymore. Maybe its just a ROM issue, I'll just wipe and reflash it again. But now in my recovery won't show any of my files to let me reflash directly from my phone, I can only flash ROMs to my phone via ADB side loading with my computer. Any help with this issue would be appreciated greatly

Which rom is?
However, have you tried another rom?
The default keyboard? It's not on by default, did you tick the box in settings?
PAC ROM newest version

It was on by default last time that's how I discovered it by accident. And yes I rechecked the settings and the box is checked.

[Q] "No OS installed!" Can't get past bootloader or recovery! Urgent Help!

I'm an amateur ROM flasher and I usually get around a problem after a few hours of messing around with the device and forums but I am absolutely stumped by this one. After unsuccessfully trying to flash a few roms, I decided to restore my phone back to what it was because I backed it up only a few hours before. All it would load is a black screen with the status bar showing the time and no signal, sometimes allowing me to slide to unlock to my saved launcher with still a black background. Not only would it never get reception, it would reboot within two minutes. This cycled until the battery would die. I ended up deleting everything on the device itself in attempt to fix something, not thinking I would delete my back ups and then my ability to ever get my phone past bootloader or recovery. I can still do fastboot commands and change the recovery, but besides that, it's a brick. Any kind of help would mean the world, thanks!

Im geussing you dont have any other phone to download a rom to an sd card and put it in ur phone?
It would beat having to go thru all the adb setup if your not familiar with adb .

It's not a brick until nothing lights up our charges. And since there is no sd slot, that's out. You have access to recovery, you're fine. Download a stable Rom and just like fastboot, do an adb push of the Rom like suggested above. Wipe data, caches, and format system before flashing. No worries. All its not lost.

Any of those adb commands results only with "error: device not found"
This may not be a fix for HTC phones, but on Samsung devices, I've had to uninstall and reinstall drivers several times. Do and uninstall, run a registry cleaner, reboot pc, reinstall drivers, reboot, and try adb again. I used to do that every so often with my Samsung devices that wouldn't be properly detected by my pc. It usually fixed my problem.

How would I get around to doing this on a Mac? It's all I got.
Sorry, I'm not a Mac guy. I couldn't tell you. Can you poach some time on pc at work or a friend's? You may also be able to boot a Linux live disc on your Mac and work from there. Takes some effort, but may help.

No offense meant, but that information really needs to be in the first post. It could have made things significantly easier. We also really need to know what ROMs you were trying, because the problems you'r edescribing vaguely sound like you've flashed a GSM ROM somewhere along the line by accident, in which case you will need to RUU (and most of the guides are unfortunately pretty Windows-centric).

No offense taken. Unfortunately, a Mac is all I'm able to use at the moment. I'm trying to run CleanRom from the sprint htc one development section of this site, so I'm fairly certain it should work. My main problem right now is that using adb commands my phone is not recognized. Using fastboot, though, works absolutely fine to do whatever I need and recognizes my device. I've tried using twrp and clockworkmod recovery touch to sideload any zip file and just won't work. All it says after trying that is "failed to open driver control: no such file or directory".
Please do tell me if any other information would help you help me faster. I don't frequent forums so I'd imagine I'm quite frustrating to work with.
Anybody have any idea?

[Q] I'm an idiot and need help... bootloop/brick

Well im an idiot and hit the update for 4.4.3 without thinking when im rooted and have twrp.
Is there a way to cancel the update? I can get into the phone it boot up fully but after a minute or two it reboots to twrp What can i do to fix this??
LOL, same exact thing just happened to me so I guess I'm an idiot as well.
I had to shut it down and restart several times but it finally came up with a prompt that the update had completed (of course it hasn't, I'm still on 4.2.2) and seems be running fine now.
