Q&A Thread for CM10 (ported by reider123)

I made this thread at the dev's request. Please direct all questions you have about the ROM here. This is to keep the dev thread clean.
Users here will try to help you with your issues if they can. Please have patience though. Try to remember that this is an alpha ROM, we can't expect everything to be working instantly.

Yes you can, but as always, flash as your own risk. If you've never flashed anything ICS or above before, it takes a bit more work. Are you familiar with Blackrose?

I install black rose for BCM ICS. After using BCM - daily, I want to try JB ROM.

For now only ics/jellybean-style launcher is slow.
If you use other launcher, it'll be very smooth.

Question: Does the still camera capture work with CM-10 JB port?
Edit: Verified that Camera causes force close for me. I used Amon_RA recovery with alignment.zip & format_signed.zip & 200-8-rest hboot.
Maybe this info could be added to OP of ROM thread in dev section, if its appropriate.

should be smooth, i tested with launcher pro that is slow:cyclops:

Having problems with the USB connect. After connecting it it doesn't display the USB connect to PC dialog. Besides e apps2sd not working for me. Any help?

launcher pro/launcher 7 will be slow 'cause developers said that these launcher is fast for gingerbread, but may slow for ics

What launcher would you recommend for JB? Apex, Nova, Holo or maybe some other?

Fast on ICS, Why not on JB ?

So I finally decided to try CM10, and I'm having troubles with Android Play Store, it has FC's everytime I opened it.
That's what I tried to do :
- flashing CM10
- flashing CM10 & Aroma Installer
Someone, help me? ^^

I've never had a problem with this gapps on JB

I read what @host replied. Another alternative for you to try is bexton's gapps. I had the same problem as you and I backed up vending.apk in Tb, then uninstalled it and then flashed only the play store using bexton's aroma gapps. Maybe this can help you.

lost my newspaper
the deletion of the news and widget app from jb is a great loss.. is there anyway to bring that back in the coming editions..
ever since i got my n1 i have not read any other newspapers , the news widget was too good

You can install it yourself, do a search for 'GenieWidget' for a download link and installation instructions

v2.3:changed camera.apk to miui camera(thanks MIUI team)

installation:
just wipe data cahe
install rom
flash gapps
wipe dalvik cache
wipe battery stats
reboot
after installing the rom there are some things that you must do to get the complete windows experience. you must do the things mentioned below;
the first thing when you boot your device you will have to go through the initial configuration
for phone pick the phone app with android logo
for messaging pick the messaging7 app
you can select the remaining stuff yourself
then go to theme chooser and set your current theme to wp7sys
now you can hide the default phone and messaging app
now please set the ui and other settings as it suits

Facing process info.tikuwarez.laucher3 FORCE CLOSE Problem!! Due to this Problem i cant view Home Screen!!

I get the same error with VrOckerZ.
I've choose the theme in theme chooser, but its still error.
Nice idea for the rom. maybe you can put WP7 Contacts, WP7 Dialer, and status bar too.

In other words is the launcher force closing?

Try reinstalling the rom or wiping data and then fixing perms if still problem persists I will upload a new build tomorrow

Sorry I can't test it soon.
I came back to CM7 last night and I maybe able to play with custom rom again next night.
I hope someone else can test it.

This looks just like standard CM10 w/ trebuchet, the author didn't do any theming

No theming is fine by me.
How is the stability? Does it have any issues?

To get it just pull it out of the zip from rem, I loved it to so that's what I did

Only problem I had was systemui FCing when applying a new theme. No big deal there.

3 random reboots today....

Play store goes missing even after reinstall on touchwiz v1.0 rom by skyWalker

I m facing a weird problem on touchwiz v1.0 rom...
Play store becomes invisible so unaccessible... I tried to reinstall play store app downloaded from 4shared link.... Please help

Don't install the Apk of playstore
download the apk and rename to Vending.apk
then put it in /system/app and set permissions as rw-- r - r -
and then reboot phone
and now you can access the play store.

Can I use any patch or script to extend battery life....

There is no script to Extend battery life
but u can try Juice Defender app from Play store
It saves battery.
you can try Stock ROMs which will give you good battery life.

Try stock gingerbread ROMs for getting good battery life.
and Calibrating Battery works
you can try it but u should follow the steps given for the calibration process properly
cheers.

Touchwiz v1.0 based on cm7.2 gives me good battery but... I don't like anything after using s3-modded touchwizUX launcher....
How about using juice defender on AceSIII V2....?

I honestly don't think anyone will put any effort in porting a CM7 rom, as we already have CM10.1 working on our devices.
Maybe you can request for the modded apps and install them over a different base rom.
EDIT: I might do that as i have some free time, but i really have no idea if it's going to work. So no promises

Atleast make this from 10.1 version pls.....

Neither do I, I'm just testing stuff out

There was never a CM7 for this device so I wouldn't be able to compile CM7 and manually copy the necessary files over. If you find a CM10.1 version of the same thing I can do it for you.

Gave up, as com.android.phone stops working as soon as it boots.
Didn't had enough willpower to test with stock phone and another mix of apps.
The rest of the rom worked fine (except it looked like a crApple thing).
