I have a Galaxy S 1 with Android 2.3.3. and my external SD contains a .asec folder that has apps that I have moved from the phone storage to the sd card.
I also have a Cube U30GT tablet with Android 4.1 and when I move apps, it only moves them to the internal SD card.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that ICS and JB do not natively allow apps on external SD. Is this not the case? Is it a matter of the Android implemention the manufacturer chooses?
ps I will be getting my 4X today, so some thorough testing will take place in the next few days. I will be more than happy to find that apps can go to external SD.

Try using Link2SD or A2sd if your phone is rooted..
check out the following on how to use your sdcard as your internal memory so you get 32gb internal memory

This is a "feature" of Android 4.x. While it's still possible to be done with external apps, the internal programm manager doesn't show this option anymore. Also it emulates an SD card which is actually a link to internal data folder, so a newer API is needed by apps to distinct internal SD card from the real external SD card.

[Q] Apps 2 sd in stock v20a

Apps 2 sd in stock v20a
How can we do this? Am I right in thinking that I can use rommanager to create a partition on the internal sd card? If that is correct then is it not possible to create a partition on external sd to move apps to? Otherwise it would seem pointless because the phone install apps to the internal sd anyhow, So creating a partition to it would be pointless no?
Anyone can shed any light on this fr me as I am just guessing so far?
Anyone know if its possible to swap internal sd and external sd like we can in Cm to get more room?
Thanks if you can help,
Use link2sd and external sd partition method
If you want to move games data to external sd use Foldermount
Both requires root
Search in google you will get more info

That's not what I mean. Link 2 sd just moves game data. I was wanting to swap mounts for internal to external so all apps install to the external 32gb sd card. Or a partition to do it. I use the above programs but I also need more space for installing the apk's.#
In CM you can swap intenal and external in build prop to get the phone to use the larger external card as internal app storage. This does not work in JB if you edit the build prop.
I need a similar way for JB as CM roms are no good for me because of the hdmi output problem (rotation bug).
Has anyone had luck swapping the mounts in JB?

But 16gb is more enough for installing apk
You can move your games data to external sd to save more space
Example: you can install the ironman3 apk in internal sd it's takes about 35mb and move the 780 mb obb data to external sd with foldermount

App2SD can do that but it is not always possible or recommendable.
For data files i think and depends on the app (i.e. i can set Open Street Map to store all downloaded maps on external sd card)
Best apps to use are link 2sd and folder mount these both need root.
Because of the way the internal memory is mounted as SD card no app2sd will work as they see internal as sdcard.
Link 2sd you set a partition by connecting card to PC without phone use any free windows partition tool set size and make sure it is set as primary, use fat32
Then when you restart phone with ext sdcard inserted link 2sd will ask that a new partition has been detected and how to mount select fat32 then from in app select which files are in the internal memory and select to make link. they are then moved to ext sdcard and free up space.
When you download games they are harder to move data as they look to particular folder only. Folder mount links these files so you can move to ext card and games still works.
Both are free on the play store.

so i need to download link2sd and folder mount? is there any workaround without using these two apps?
Don't know but you won't get any apps to ext sdcard or data without using these or similar.
They load at boot and are active, just click app, game and it will run smoothly.

I guess no... you can't do without root bro..
Wait till root is available for your c5303:highfive: & Then you can move it.
Or you can flash 284 firmware & root it, if you need it urgent.

Not really as the apps need root to work and every time you boot up you will lose function of apps if you unroot.

If you are rooted you could use foldermount for free https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount
And move large directories like asphalt 8 and 7 or GTA III and Vice City.
If you dont know how to use it just follow my guide

Link2SD does not move the Huge GB folders like Folder Mount does ...
better off following Jackaros guide and getting the paid version of folder mount
regards
You could try Mounts2SD https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spazedog.mounts2sd&hl=de
its free (but you have to have a rooted phone).
I am using this on a old HTC Desire and it works great.
