if put extra protector on pre-installed one from sony that might be because of that.
if not i should say i didn see anything like this on any phones! (my experience)
and cause it has high density of pixel i must not have any effect or react on straight sun-light !!!
can u send pic ?

If u mean those colorful dots
SO it s not normal ask sony for replacement.
However u must not have any effect and reflect and ... on screen with high density of pixel.

It is completely normal, it's part of the touchscreen digitizer. It's visible on almost all phones under strong light. I could see it on my S, Arc (S) and Neo too.

LOL!!! Indeed it's the touch censor, that's how capacitive screens works! Don't freak out, every Xperia has it!

Awful Screen Colors

Have any of you gone to a different model of phone then come back to the D3 and realized the screen colors on this Pentile display just suck? It really jumped out to me when using the Handcent Emoji Plugin and when viewing from an angle. Here's a side-by-side comparison with my DX. Both photos were taken with the phones at max brightness with no screen protector on either. D3 has consistent color when viewing from an angle whereas the DX doesn't, but the DX's LCD does have a hairline crack underneath and used to have a flickering dot whenever touched. It's since gone away, but the screen has been damaged from pressure.
DX on left and D3 on right.

I didn't mean to start a war here. I was just pointing out that the colors are much worse on this phone than others. I will note how nice it acts in direct sun light though!

In the second picture, the one on the left seems to have weird wavy lines in the white section, and honestly, neither one of their colors look too hot at that angle anyway. Yes, the Pentile is somewhat less vibrant than a Super AMOLED screen, but it's not that big a deal to me; I'm not color-sensitive designing digital art or using Photoshop on the thing, just surfing and texting, with a little gaming. The biggest factor for me is that the Droid X doesn't have a keyboard, which means it's not even in the cards for me. A close second is that, since I live in Hawaii, good visibility in bright sunlight (all year around lol) is fairly inportant.

HP touchpad screen problem

Hi Guys!
Recently I purchased a 32 gb touchpad second hand dual boot CM9 and everything was working ok. Couple of days ago I noticed a four brighter spots-around 1mm- in the left top corner. I don't know if these spots have been there at the beginning as they are hardly visible apart from white background and other light colors. What I find strange is that these spots form a perfect rhombus, kind of the one Google put on the top dev apps. Could you please help me or at least give me some idea: what these bright spots might be? Thank you very much!
Can you provide a picture?
Have you tried any of the screen test app's? Could be dead pixels...

That is the best I can do. Sorry if the quality is no good. Although the screen appear grey it is actually white and those four bright dots are clearly visible. Thank you. I also checked for dead pixels, but I don't think this is the case. Appreciate any help!

I'm not really that experienced with this kind of thing, but it doesn't look like a dead or stuck pixel to me. When you press firmly on the screen, does it change at all?
EDIT: This is a response from OCN after I posted your issue and picture:
"Look like a finger print
To ID screen issues make 5 pictures. They should be pure black, pure white, pure Red, pure Green and pure blue. Use MS paint ore something and its best if the pictures are the same size as the screen and in png format (Jpegs can have artifacts). Now look at thees pictures in full screen mode. If the "smudge" looks the same regardless of color then its probably something like a nick or scratch on the screen. If shape changes depending on color it means there are damaged or jammed liquid crystals in the screen. If the crystals are just jammed they can start to work again if you run flickering video (google dead pixel repair). If its indeed stuck pixles then you can also tap the area repeatedly as a slight movement in the screen panel can get crystals moving again."
You might want to give that a shot.
Hi Infinite Jest!
I installed Dead pixel repair and Pixel fixer. I run both apps and these spots are still visible, more or less on every screen background, apart from black. I don't think it is a scratch or nick on the screen, as the shape is strange and I cant feel anything when go over it with a finger. Also, the shape never change regardless of the screen background. I would appreciate if you could re-post to OCN-I don't know what that abbreviation stand for. Thank you again!

His response:
"In that case it sounds to me like its a back light issue or to precise the backlight diffuser has a flaw in it. The diffuser is an clear plastic sheet that's painted white. It's job is to evenly reflect the light from the LED's though the LCD matrix. Unfortunately there is very little a layman can do about an damaged/flawed diffuser. I would just try to live with it but if it really bugging you then you might want to either RMA if (if you have warranty) or ring up HP support and ask about what it would potentially cos to fix it (and that's probably more then you will want to pay)."

Dark mark beside nfc logo

Hi all,
I just noticed a dark mark behind the phone right beside the NFC logo and it's quite obvious from certain angles.
I don't use the phone extensively - messaging, twitter, instagram, non graphic intensive games.
Anyone know what caused the mark? I suspect its the processor or graphic chip.
Do you think it's a valid reason to head down to the repair centre and is it covered under warranty?
Thanks.

Looks like you have a screen protector... maybe it's that?
There's a blue z1???
It's more obvious in the 2nd and 3rd photos.
It's a dark square right beside the nfc logo and it's quite difficult to show with a camera
I'm posting to see if I am the other one or if there's others like me too.
I have a white Z1 and I can't see anything below or around the nfc icon
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have a white one also and I can see a sort of "halo" around the NFC from certain angles with certain lights, but nothing worth saying!
EDIT: Now I see, looks like it's about 1"x1" darker spot on the left? Seems rather weird indeed, do you have a protector on this side? You can look at a disassembly video to see if it's close to a processor... Surely is weird!
I can see the square from your pictures and I can say this, back cover is in glass and there is not way that any chip or whatever can do such a thing. Only 2 things can be, 1- the paint of the back cover (which I suppose is not on the glass but is under), 2-Back Plastic protector. I will suggest to take off first the plastic back protector and check if the square still there.
Hi all,
Thanks for your help.
I removed the protector but the mark is still there, so it's on the phone itself.
I'm thinking if the mark got to do with the chip heating up the paint or back panel thus causing the dark mark?

This protector behind is in case you break the glass to not hurt you...and i think it's impossible to heat sufficiently to make a dark mark like that.

It's your Z1 come out from box with the back protector? Because far as I know they don't...and mine didn't have it.

The glass has a sticker protector, all Z1 have it in both side.
If you watch this YouTube clip. There is actually a square heatshield for a chip in that region behind the back cover. Maybe that would cause it. I don't know if my eyes tricked me but it looked like his back cover also had that square.

Uneven brightness/washout on display

I'm not really sure what to call this, because I've never seen it on an OLED screen before.
I have the T813 WiFi model.
Recently, I've noticed, when using sites or apps with a dark background (like XDA Labs), that my display's brightness is noticeably uneven. Holding it in landscape mode, with the home button on the right, the screen looks something like this:
Bottom left corner: normal, full dark colors
Top left and bottom right: coloring is alright, but not as good as the bottom left
Middle (vertically): noticeably brighter, sort of a strip of washed out color
Top right corner: the worst area, looks like the pixels were burned
Excluding the strip in the middle, this is a pretty even radial gradient from the bottom left.
I can't really take a picture of this, because it just won't show up. I just have to do my best to describe it. It's almost like the backlight is messed up, except that OLED doesn't use a backlight. The pixels toward the top right are just a lot brighter than the ones on the bottom left, so they look whiter or washed out. It's somewhat strange. I've seen a few burn tests of SAMOLED screens (so Samsung) and noticed they turn white when heated and tend not to restore. I do put this in a computer bag, but I don't know what could be in here that would cause enough heat near one corner to do this (the CPU is top left, which is alright in color).
Has anyone seen this before? Should I get a warranty replacement? Do I need to describe it better?
if it bother you that much, just do warranty replacement.
my friend did it for his T715, the new unit look slightly better
but of course still no 100% uniformity.
Here's how mine somewhat looks (intentionally raised brightness to better show the effect. My power button also seems to stick a bit sometimes.

Yeah. After further testing there's definitely something I don't like.
Using the Display Tester app in the Play Store, I set the 4-gradient test to use the same dark grey color across the screen (1A 18 1A). Results weren't pretty......

Hmm. I'm kind of glad to see it's probably not a defect, but also kind of annoyed that it's normal. It'd be great if someone else could say if they have the problem too.
I have something like this to. Its annoying but only really visible with greys. Its relatively common with AMOLED screens, my S6 edge+ has it as well, but only very faintly.

Display panel defects

Having the phone for over 3 weeks now and I've noticed in very low brightness (1-10%) that display is unevenly lit. Dark gradient on the right side. Visible especially if your view a dark grey solid colour.
Is this an OLED issue or do I have a defective panel?

This is something related to DC dimming feature. Try disabling DC Dimming option in Display setting and check if you notice any difference.
I experience the exact same issue... on my Pixel 3a XL.
Came here because I'm evaluating a new purchase, and the first post I read is about this problem.

I think since these are budget devices (relatively) with amoled screens they cut corners in QCC.

I only experience the exact same problem but only when the DC dimming is on, otherwise everything is fine even on the lowest brightness. (except ofcourse the smearing issue when scrolling through dark background on low brightness)

If it's any consolation then even the one plus 7 (just checked my friend's) has the same issue. The notch also affects screen around it.
I have this on my 9TP. Only visable at very low brightness in a dark room and grey background.
Looks like a piece of tape what's folded up. Poor QC but it doesn't bother me.
