[Q] Droid 3 (Unlocked) No signal on Custom rom - Motorola Droid 3

I have a droid 3, Rooted, Currently Running on Stock Rom, Unlocked, Currently using AT&T..
Last Night I've tried putting Custom Roms in it. I've used safetrap recovery. It worked, but no signal...
From what I understood, safetrap allows you to have something like a multiboot rom or something..
these are the roms I've tested: droidforums.net/forum/steel-droid/193454-official-thread-steel-droid-3-15-2013-its-jellybean-time.html
both the roms for d3...
If I;m missing something, please let me know.. I'm getting really frustrated..
Thanks
Patrick

I have the same issue, i remember hearing someone say they managed to get their phone working on att by modifying build.prop, but after i looked into it and even did something (didnt notice any change) i had no change.

You must put in a modified build.prop after flashing the ROM if you're currently using the XT883 radio for AT&T. The radio does not get touched, you just need to push or copy the modified build.prop. You can copy the one from your stock rom to use and it should work fine, I run Maverick 4.0 with GSM mod.

I have it up and running on my X. Got the link from your thread in Rootzwiki. Thanks for releasing this.
I've got this rom on my samsung fascinate, and I have to say, it's the best rom out there. Even better than cm7. Does every single function work with this rom (gps, camera?) And in order to install it, is all I need to be on a rooted .34 and use bootstrap?
Sold my fascinate and my droidx and now both have miui and my HTC device does not. Looks like i have cake on my face.

It's a nice rom, I was on CM7, went to Apex, and then used bootstrap to get to Miui. I heard that the GPS does work(but my phone isn't activated and i can't use wifi to try it myself), I can confirm that the camera(pictures and video) works. as far as rooted .34, I don't know what that means?
thanks for ur quick response. So it's assumed that all the functions are working! I'll put this on my cousin's droid x asap! What I meant was, what were the initial steps that needed to be taken before I install this rom. There are no clear steps that I can find on this post at least.
You're welcome, all I did was use the Droid 2 bootstrapper(since that was what i had, and I was on Apex at the time which I think is a froyo based rom?), and went into recovery and did a factory restore, and installed the zip, and it booted. I took a risk, skipped backing up the rom and stuff before installing MIUI, but yeah make sure to back up the rom and stuff before you use the bootstrapper. I also read that full resolution should be working on the camera, the MIUI camera isn't included though, just the AOSP camera. Also the live wallpaper(only one on there) works.

I understand this runs the froyo kernel so im on liberty 2.1 can i bootstrap to recovery and flash this? Oh and do I need google apps as well?
Edit: Do I need to sbf back to stock then to cm7 then to miui?
Which version of Android is Liberty 2.1 based on(not sure if it matters as much as which kernel it's based on, if someone will clear it up for me), and which kernel is it based on? I don't know much about that rom. I know that at least the Market and Google Talk are included, Gmail is in there also(don't know if that's something that wouldn't be in a custom rom ie CM7).
EDIT: You should be able to install it from rooted froyo at least, but it would be good to find out if you could do it from Liberty, so you won't waste your time just in case you can.
Its 2.2 and I couldnt get it to install so i sbf'd back to stock and trying again.
Have you got it running? EDIT: This is Juanito216, i didn't know my sisters account was logged in lol.
Not booting apparently you need d2 bootstrap........sbf'ing again.
Edit: Still at moto logo. 4 minutes now not booting.
I recently installed MIUI on a coworkers OG Droid and fell in love. To have it on my X just a week later is awesome. This ROM is tizzits.
I can get cm7 to boot up but not miui wtf am I doing wrong?
Where the hell is everyone? Even IRC is completely empty.
Have you done a factory restore? Did you try wiping cache?

Im on my third sbf now. I rooted stock froyo got d2 bootstrap, got cm7 running, updated cwm to the latest version, wiped data and flashed miui and get stuck at m logo everytime.
I don't know what the issue could be, hopefully you can get it up and running soon.

[Q] state of XT860 development

I know people hate these threads, but I have done as much research as I could before posting, and just want to confirm if my understanding is right...
I have a Canadian (Bell) XT860 -- don't worry, it's fine.
We now have options to restore this phone from a bricked state by flashing (using RSDlite?) either a Brazillian 2.3.5 image, the ME863 image, or a third that was mentioned but I could never find.
My understanding of this as far as development goes is that we don't have a safestrap that works yet, which prevents truly custom android f/w from being made for our phones... but as we do have an option for recovering from a bricked state, people can be more adventurous without worrying nearly as much.
Am I missing or wrong on anything here?
Yes, RSDLite is the program you would use to flash a stock SBF to your XT860.
There is the Chinese ME863 rom, and most recently the Brazilian XT860 rom. What is this 3rd one you heard of... where is it from, which carrier?
Safestrap didn't seem to work for XT860 (I think) or ME863 rom users (this one I'm sure of, as I tried it myself), but I recall when I was on my stock Bell XT860 rom, Bootstrap worked (problem was, there weren't any ROMS to play with - and I believe there still aren't any roms yet.) Hopefully this Brasil stock rom will help move things forward.
Until we get "SBF" that can bring us back to original Bell firmware, we can't really get truly "adventurous", since there is no way to bring phone back to factory state if you have to send it for service. Let's hope such recovery will be leaked/found for us soon and we can really get adventurous.

I've been talking to Hashcode on and off on IRC for the past few weeks and we've been messing around with my bell xt860 when he's had the time. Unfortunately with his ICS port, patching safestrap (Hashcode mentioned just last night that he believes he's traced down the problem with safestrap on the xt860) etc he's extremely busy. He's mentioned a few times that he's working on a project or two for the xt860 that should get us moving along (ie patching safestrap I think), hopefully it's enough to know that devs(Hashcode) are still looking into the issues we have on the xt860.
With that being said, I have an idea or two I'm gonna try out here. I'll post results when I'm done. There are also a lot of other bright people who are giving things a shot, a few people are recompiling modules and trying to get cm7 working etc, it's ongoing but no ones had any progress to report yet unfortunately. It is ongoing though
Edit:No love, bricked for the moment. I've tried building and flashing a few roms, some I knew wouldn't work but a few had no reason not too, like a bell xt860 rom but for some reason all end with same results, sitting at the "M", not reaching the boot animation. Some difference between the verizon and our model in terms of boot.
Okay, thanks for the clarification everybody.
So - we're just missing a way to get back to Bell XT860 from Brazil/China XT860, but the workaround seems like it's just a matter of getting recovery to work and flash backups of the original software.
And - it sounds like we're fairly close to a breakthrough in getting bootstrapping enabled, which means that we're hopefully not too far off from a de-blur'd XT860.

One of the problems we might run into is not being able to flash back to our bell kernel without an sbf from bell.
..as well as the Radio Firmware. Those can only be restored by SBF
Just to thank willis and endoroid I succesfully installed safestrap and liberty rom
the only thing its that it gives me an error when I switch to spanish language (I'm from mexico) on com.android.settings when selecting applications menu..
And also market closes.

I saw.on the liberty thread some other ppl have had market FC issues. Apparently the.solution is to just keep reflashing until it fixes. Although you may.wish to try clearing market data.first to see.if that clears it up

Clearing market data doesn't help, along with force closing.
Happens when you start trying to download an app... then just cyclic FC.
It's just reflashing and praying. (I got it on the second attempt)
Well now im using steeldroid it works perfect

[Q] ow to flash Minimoto as default rom and uninstall safetrap into Verizon Droid 3

I have my Droid 3 working with the Stock rom and the safetrap using MiniMoto. Right now with all the changes I have made to it it works good, now I want to move it from safetrap to the phone as the default rom, I haven't found much info of going from safetrap to flash into the phone, any ideas?
As far as I know, I see that I would have to use the rsd, but I see that it flashes img files, I just have the zip file from the latest minimoto so... I am lost here.

AFAIK there is no way to transfer a rom from safestrap to the stock system.
As a thought, and I have no idea if this would work, if you're using safestrap 3+ it saves custom roms as image files on the sd and mounts then for use. Logically you could try flashing this image file using motofastboot but I'm just talking out my ass, so...
If you're on an older safestrap, I had an idea about this once, I'll see if I can find the post I wrote when I get off work. I never tried it but it made sense to me

I see...
So, just to be clear, to flash over stock it has to be an img file. The rom developer must have this option instead of zip? I'm looking to replace the stock rom with something less bloated like MiniMoto but as far as I see most of the Droid 3 roms apparently only run on Safestrap (I have the latest version 3.5) Damn I was looking to move all to the phone system so it would run a little bit faster
P.D.: Are there roms that could be flashed to replace the stock one then?

Any rom can be flashed over stock, just not worth safestrap. You need plain old bootstrap app. However that doesn't help you move an existing rom install(which is what I thought you were asking)
I don't use safestrap on my phone and have minimoto installed as my stock rom. Just be aware brick recovery can be more difficult as I've had issues getting back into cwm after flashing a rom. Rsdlite will still get you back to stock no problem though so not that big a deal
Here is a http://db.tt/rNhVQCsclink for bootstrap. You'll need to boot into stock system and completely remove safestrap before you install this. I like to rsdlite or fastboot to complete stock personally, but not strictly necessary. Safestrap backups are not compatible with cwm. I can't fully guarantee this bootstrap works. I use a milestone version(since I have the XT860).

So, to understand, I could flash minimoto over stock, but not use safestrap later? I had the idea to have flashed minimoto over stock and then a safestrap with other minimoto, if one fails I can go over the other and make changes accordingly. Bad or good idea?

Once you've flashed minimoto to stock you can remove the bootstrap and reinstall safestrap, yes. It seems redundant to have 2 versions of the same rom flashed to the phone, seems like less effort to just make sure to backup before making any changes, but it's your phone to do with as you will.
I don't use safestrap because I don't care about being able to reflash my phone. I hate this thing and am just waiting for it to die so I can replace it.

And it's stuck on gb. I can't listen to music and have my running app open. One of them will close due to lack of ram. Keyboard sucks ass on mine. Button presses only register half the time. Same for the capacitive keys. Apps often take up to 10 seconds to Open(probably because it needs to clear ram)

So, just to be sure (sorry for the delay, on monday I am officially on vacation so I was doing all the make up work that I had to do :fingers-crossed: )
I can flash minimoto over stock
Then install safe trap and install minimoto on the rom slot
Why?
Because I like minimoto and I have found that for this phone and my lifestyle it fits really well, the problem is that on safestrap mode I believe the lag is because he's reading some stuff from the sdcard and the internal memory (both I think and believe (I could be wrong, I am just an advanced user ) are slower than the reserved space for the rom itself), so I will start from scratch again install only the programs I really need on the phone rom and leave the safestrap rom for those scenarios where the phone is stuck on something.
Is that all virtually correct and possible, right?

I get lag using it on stock rom too. You may find some improvement by flashing it over stock. Safestrap mounts an image file as a loop device, which I have heard is slower, although I couldn't confirm that through googling. Android seems to start to lag over time, I find flashing fresh often gives improvements, then it slows down again, then flash again etc

Which rom?

well, i have an xt860 droid 3 here.
it came shipped with maverick mavrom 4.0, which was not bad, but lacked due to english only (and no german to choose, which i want) and actually not beig android 4.
i searched around a bit and found out, that most 4.x-roms lack a working camera, but i found the Steeldroid 5.6 rom over at droidforums.net (which had partially working camera)
it worked a little time, but i noticed, that there is no umts/3g and no data-point (apm) createable or selectable, so no data useable.
so i wanted to go to another rom. i tried liberty's rom, avatar's & liquid smotth, but all 3 didn't install - maybe because i still have safestrap 1.8 and don't know about the partition 1 or 3 stuff.
So for now i installed minimoto, just to have a "working" rom and starting phone. I don't want to use this rom, as it's also not multilanguage (or just not german included), so my question:
i want a working 2.3.x rom (or maybe a 4.x rom, but those might all lack of camera, so rather the other one), which has everything working and is multilanguage and working with safestrap 1.8. (or otherwise a link to how to update my safestrap.
thanks in advance.

I am using a droid 3 XT862 at the moment from USA Verizon.
I did have a Bell XT860 from Canada till i had it stolen 2 weeks ago.
I attached a zip with the proper safestrap version 3.05 made specifically for the droid 3 (XT860 and XT862)
unzip the .apk file from the zip. and the easiest method (for me) to install it is to copy it onto your phone (i would copy it onto the phones sd card, and then while the phone is powered on, just find the file with your file explorer app on your phone, and click it to install.
Remember you need to be rooted for it to work.
I would also probably uninstall the older version of safestrap before you install the new one..
then once its installed, open it, grant it root access, and select the install recovery option.
NOTE: i think this must be done from your stock rom.. and you can probably backup your other roms to reinstall in the new safestrap, but if it was up to me, i would probably boot into the stock original phones rom, be sure you are rooted, uninstall the old safestrap, and install the new one.
I am somewhat new to all this also, but i have been playing around for a while now so learning lots.
I hope this works, otherwise let me know what problems come up, and i will try to help as much as i can. or maybe others will provide some input.
I hope my attachment works for you to download. if not let me know

just noticed your response.. after i posted my last message. anyway
those also did not work on my old xt860 either.
what did work was minimoto (the xt860 version), aswell as a couple of the steeldroids (5.5, and 5.6 oc, and 5.0)
and dont worry if you dont get any data, or cell service to start. just get the rom to boot up proper, and then i can help you with your apn settings as well as getting your wireless radio to work.
first things first.. to try to get a working rom.. cuz my needs were the same as yours. and i got them all working except the ones you already tried.
i am chatr wireless which is also gsm/umts

well, after updating the recovery, i managed to find the maverick 4.5 rom over on droidforums and installed that, as it came shipped with mav 4.0 and seemed ok,
Calling seems to work now, except the phone still sometimes tells "invalid sim card" and no signal, but is capable of calling. strange ? Sometimes, a switch between global and umts/gsm zone and also a switch gsm only and both manages to get a signal. (vodafone.de using) i have not tried further on data, but the menu is accessible.
so far, for me the maverick 4.5 ist the most stable one.
a smal question besides: how can i find out, if the phone has a simlock on? (i tried an o2-sim, which was completely not detected (and said to be not unlocked for this network). and if it's locked, how can i unlock?
update: after trying around today, i found out: (maverick 4.5)
apn-setting can be added, but are not stored/saved. so there is no possiblity of creating an apn.
the "invalid sim card" message is still, BUT the calling works (the "phono"-app does not show the own number, but shows signal and provider)

[Q] codinMetroPCS???

I can't seem to find a recovery that will flash a rom for MY phone. I have the MetroPCS version/variant of the sgh-t599n and I really want to be able to flash a custom rom to my phone, but I can't seem to find anyone with (codinMetroPCS) files for it. The only reason I say that is because when I finally got CWM 6.0.3.2 downloaded and working, tried to flash beanstalk rom and it told me "THIS ROM IS FOR CODINALTE PHONES NOT CODINMETROPCS PHONES" Is there a different rom for the Metro phones? Or am I doing something wrong....Im rooted through cydiaimpactor, well, i guess technically through the pre-rooted stock rom I had to flash through Odin...BTW-Over the last two weeks I've learned that flashing a rom on a samsung (at least mine) takes a custom recovery, which needs to be flashed via Odin (something I didn't know how to do at the time)...I almost feel like Im starting to get confused with all these different programs needed to run or flash or download this or that....I'm not sure if the info is even in the correct order in my head......could someone please walk me through this? or call me! lmao...this is giving me a headache. lol....but I REALLY REALLY want to know what Im doing.....ANYONE? Just flash the recovery listed in the BeanStalk thread.
There's 3 variants of the phone; T599, T599N, T599V (codinatmo, codinametropcs/codinanewcotmo, codinavid) they're pretty much the same exact phone, there's just slight differences in proprietary files - so the developers decided to unify the all of them into one (codinalte), as it's easier to build for one phone then three seperate times. The recovery's responsible for the phone; which is why the recovery plays a key-role, basically the recovery you have right now can only accept roms that are specifically 'titled' as codinametropcs, and by flashing that recovery, you'll be able to flash any of the 4.4.x roms (BeanStalk, Vanir, OmniROM, CM, AOKP, and soon pure-vanialla AOSP).
ok so....

When you say flash....you mean through Android System Recovery (stock recovery)? right? ....sry man...back when i was rooting my droid x, I never ran into any issues and it seemed a little easier to flash roms

Or where did I go wrong? do i have to have twrp?
sorry to bug bro

I just flashed cwm through odin and it passed....I havn't rebooted just yet, but I know it was working before.... But just saw that the cwm I downloaded from the beanstalk thread says its for kitkat builds only. My phone is running 4.1.2..does that matter? or does that mean I just need a 4.4 rom to be flashed with it? Sorry if these are dumb questions

It's cool; it just means you can only flash 4.4 roms, so you cannot flash cm10.1, cm10.2, and pac. It doesn't matter that your phone's running 4.1.2.
