How Hot is my PI? - Raspberry Pi Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had some webspace and a PI given to me by my University but I don't really have any use for them yet - so I combined them to create...
*dramatic music*
HOW HOT IS MY PI (.COM)
Apparently I can't post outside links yet >->
I was also thinking about creating a site and a small script to instalI on your PI to share it's stats publicly, like data transfer, uptime, CPU usage, temperature etc... but I've not really had time to do that yet.
Anyway, a bit of pointless rubbish to fuel your day
-Sam

I want the raspberry pie!

I went there using my PC and it said 40.1c
Nothing in my PC is that hot

Actually, 40°C is pretty normal idle temperature for a PC's CPU. Well, 'idle' might not be the best word. More like normal "web-browsing". And if you really want to get that down, a better CPU cooler would benefit you a lot more than just adding case fans. Just FYI.

Ah yea I know, I do have a custom cooler, Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme & Arctic Silver 5
That 32c is general use overclocked to 4GHz

Ya mines a laptop. Like I said, it's interesting. General use for me sits about 50, I haven't seen it get past 65-70,even after gaming, although I have only had it a week. I'm gonna get a cooling pad for it. It's an interesting comparison.
And also off topic, apologies.

Your Kaiser and your spermies

Recent article on CNN I'm sure you all saw:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/09/18/cellphone.sperm/index.html?iref=newssearch
The article says cell phones left in talk mode in your pocket can affect sperm quality significantly. As if nerds needed any MORE trouble breeding.
Anyway, nobody leaves there cell phone in talk mode while its in your pocket unless your using bluetooth. You do leave it in talk mode next to your head as well. If the radiation affects your "gonads" then surely its affecting other cells as well, including our brains. Obviously telling our cell phones to poll our email servers and bring in new messages every x amount of minutes while there in our pockets uses the radio as well, probably equivalent of leaving it in talk mode.
How much radiation does our Kaiser, or any pocket pc, put out compared to an ordinary cell phone?
Should we put away our fancy toys?
Discuss.
Since 'no' is too short of a reply I've been forced to write this out explaining that 'no' is too short of a reply, in any case, no.
Marvel has proven that radiation does anything but weaken the human body.
It explains why women just SEE me using my phone and get themselves pregnant.
I always knew those brass ones would come in handy someday...
I belive most handsets are/can be no more then 1/2 a watt.
Mine were swimming in circles anyway. THC FTW.
Well, mine checks email every 5 minutes. My wife and I are 4 months along LOL. I dont think you guys have anything to worry about
Unless mine are just superswimmers to start with

SO.... I will put my Kaiser to RecyclationBin
No. I'm kidding.
BTW: Do you know as phones "sending" microwaves?
So... Wih more than 2 phones you can made popcorn :-D
Mine are just fine....

[Q] HP Pavilion dv6-3079TX 96 MHz?

for seemingly no reason whatsoever. yesterday it did it when the cpu was at 95 degrees Celsius, but today it did it and the cpu was only at 71 degrees. note that 71 degrees is not much for my computer, it usually sits on 80-85 degrees.
anyway, i'd just like some help, i know its not related to phones, but surely someone would like to help a fellow android user in need
THE 90s ARE BACK!
prebuilt computer fail ...
a lappy that heats up to 80-90 belongs in the garbage .. good news tho , its already headed there(pretty fast too)
Haha, should I go get it replaced under warranty?
so listen ... the 96 mhz you got there is the cpu throttling down itself to prevent it from turning into coal
according to the ark the shutdown temp is 100C so it should be throttling down at ~95C (core temp)
in your monitoring program your cpu case temp is lower but individual core temps are usually higher by 15C .
also , cpu case temps above 67-72 for prolonged time will cause perm damage , maybe thats why its shutting down earlier and earlier
any kind of solution to this? i already have a logitech cooling pad thing, but what else?

i dont think that would suffice ... theres either alot of dust or some crack/disconnect in a heatsink or a fan is dieing
you can try canned pressured air if youve had the lappy for a good few months for dust
Im taking it back tomorrow to the retailer, see if they can replace the cpu or something

[Q] Tethering + Heat - is this normal?

Have been using the Mobile Hotspot app off and on for the past couple of days for Netflix streaming and the phone screen gets hot enough to where I can't use it for a phone call without risking burning my face.
Trying to figure out if this is a problem, or normal behavior - haven't rooted the phone yet in case I need to send if back.
Is the phone supposed to get ridiculously hot when running the Mobile Hotspot app?
My Droid 2 would get Seriously hot like that. I just got home with my bionic like 8 seconds ago so i havent experienced it on this, but phone do get way way hot. Especially since they are now thinner, beefier proc, etc.
I started out with a Droid X and it would get that hot when I used it as a hotspot. I have a bionic and it does the same thing even when I'm tethered to my PC.
When it's tethered to my PC I let my phone sit on top of a zip lock bag filled with water and it stays at a nice temperature.
Phew! Good to know that I'm not the only one...thanks.
The water-filled ziploc would be a DISASTER in my house - I've got a toddler and a kitten so the phone needs to be out of reach and nowhere near water.
I think I've found a solution. Hooked a car mount to a fan (that's out of everyone's reach), wrapped a charger cable around it and strapped the phone into it. Seems to be helping.

that's really creative! haha water cooled vs air cooled.
We're doing all this to preserve our hardware that out-of-the-box an overheating machine.
This is ridiculous the things you have to to havea phone with out issues. My thunderbolt reach 113 degrees watching youtube.

CPU - High Load

I had a LG g2 before my nexus 6. When for example using instagram app where i "work" with the filters it laggs heavily on nexus 6, instead of on my lg g2 it runs smoothly
I have attached a screenshot where you can see high cpu load even i have disabled background apps, cleared memory and tried "fast reboot":

I have rebooted and cleared everything. I dont want to make a hard reset as i dont see this as a solution.
Forgot to mention that the battery drains fast, and the phone is constantly warm

Your app doesn't make sense, whilst the 4th core is apparently off, it is also under 172% load? Hahah, yeah er..... ok!

Your CPU load hardly goes above 70%, but yeah its a little high. Looks like google backup is the cause.

General Antutu results - very low?

So basically I did 2 tests on my phone.
1. With high performance enabled (decreases battery life)
2. With high performance disabled.
Before each test phone was cooled down to room temp.

In both cases the results seem...low considering S888 CPU.
And by default the high performance mode is disabled...cause it eats battery like crazy
What are your results?
@user154 your result is from high performance mode?
I see u have much lower temps than I had...do u use the case included or any other case?
In the meantime could u share the screen from CPU temp/clock monitoring on idle? On the main screen you have this little horizontal button with temps and details...just click.details, go to CPU tab and take a screenshot of all 8 cores charts.
My build is: CPH2173_11_A.16
Lol these scores are so pointless like SOT discussions. You won't notice the difference between two phones with different scores no matter how large the difference.....
Hello, i know that bench doesn't show the real UX but there is a gap between the first post and the standard score of find x3 pro.

What do you mean by gap?
A significant difference between your benchmark Antutu and my results. But dont be worried. It's the same phone. take care of the heat.
